I don't normally leave bad reviews but I had such a bad experience with Giffen Furniture removals I'd say this one has been earnt. Booking to have my furniture picked up and stored was extremely easy and cost effective, it was just under $400 and was quoted an hourly fee. I stored my things with them for just over a year and had no problems until it came time for delivery. Every time I called to arrange delivery I was told I would get a call back to confirm details but the call never came. This happened 4 times. Then there is the issue of the cost, they tried to charge me $1200 which included the last month of storage which I did not use in full. I complained that this was over a 100% markup and I was not made aware that delivery would be a flat fee and not an hourly fee like when my things were picked up. I understand that with the economic changes we are facing that there was going to be an increase, but this was WAY over the market value of the services provided. The removalists drove less than an hour to my place and back and were at my place for 50 minutes yet is cost me nearly $700. Ontop of that when they came to pick up my stuff they sent three people and when they dropped it off they sent 2. The time of delivery was changed the day before and they were late the day of. They didn't call me to let me know....I had to call them. It has been just over 2 weeks since my things were dropped off and I have now realised that some of my posessions are missing. I contacted them to advise them and my email was ignored and I was sent another invoice for another month of storage even though I no longer have storage with them.... I feel like I have been robbed and will not be recommending this company to anyone and I am gutted that I have lost possessions that will cost hundreds of dollars to replace and were symbolically important. Going with this company cost me a lot....

Moving (a small) house in early January was apparently going to be very expensive as it’s peak time for moving. I got quotes for moving 15 cubic metres of: approx $2700, $1990, $1300, and two for around $750. After reading reviews of the two latter quoting removalists, I went with Giffen. Matt provided upfront paperwork, and at least 30 mins of phone time discussing insurance (I decided against getting extra), the measurement of furniture items, and number of boxes to be moved. He updated my quote to 19 cubic meters for approx $939, taking around 6.3 hours. Jeff and Chris arrived at 7am on the dot. They were easy to work with, pleasant and helpful. They were most importantly efficient and careful. Everything arrived safe. Including an hour of travel time, they got everything moved in only 4 hours. I paid only $600.75, including GST and credit card fee! I couldn’t be happier with Giffen Furniture Removals, would definitely use them again, and unreservedly recommend them to others. We looked at Giffen after a bad experience with another removalist who damaged some of our belongings on a previous move. Not sure what to expect we booked in with Giffen who impressed us from day 1. Around Xmas and with a busy schedule Giffen Furniture Removals still managed to work in with our tight schedule to move in to our newly completed house. On the day they turned up promptly and set to work. Jason, Reidman and Chris were doing the hard yakka and I can not speak highly enough of this crew. They were careful with our belongings while still working in a timely manner. They moved all of our furniture out of the rental house without any damage to the furniture or the house. They then transported it to our new house and unloaded, shuffling it around as my wife directed where she wanted it. They were a very professional crew who were courteous and went the extra yards moving some items more than once without complaint. The job was performed safely by a crew whose work ethic was second to none. Thank you Giffen Furniture Removals for making what is normally a painful task easy and pain free.

We recently moved house and I was very worried about my dining table which weighs a ton and needed to be taken from the second floor via a very skinny set of stairs. I asked friends for recommendations, but did not feel confident about any of them as they did not have such a tricky situation. Finally I decided to google “Pool table removals” and ran across all these fabulous reviews of Giffen Furniture Removals. Once I rang, Sally put me completely at ease. Matt came out to the house to assess the situation prior to moving day and decided to take the table over the balcony. He sent several extremely competent and friendly men on the day who finished the entire move in half a day with no casualties! After another Brisbane based company had to cancel our move on very short notice we had to find a removal company within two hours. James did organize a big truck with three people within less than two hours. The truck was super clean and the guys where great. James and his colleagues where fast, professional and super friendly. Next day we had another move (smaller truck with two people, different crew) and it was as smooth and great experience as on the day before. Giffen was a great choice – and at the end we did even save some money compared to the quote we had before – despite our last minute call. Sally and her team helped me with a big move from Chapel Hill to a house in the Sunshine Coast and a smaller move from Chapel Hill to a unit in Bowen Hills a week later. I was confident in choosing Giffen Furniture Removals as soon as I spoke with Sally; she was helpful, informative and very professional. I called Sally a number of times with changes and questions and she was always cheerful and helpful. On both of the move days everything went very smoothly. The guys went out of their way to ensure furniture was placed exactly where I wanted; nothing was too difficult. I can highly recommend Giffen Furniture Removals; they take the stress out of moving.

Have used these guys twice before as well as my parents and on each occasion they've been exceptional from the initial setup all the way through the removals and everything else in between. each time it was a different crew but the high standards were in place and talk about efficient with packing and moving! These guys don't mess around! At no point did I feel like I was being ripped off and they took the upmost care of my belongings. I cant praise them enough and will be using them every time I move. I chose Giffen over a number of other removal business I had contacted and dealt with Chris and Jo at all times. I found them quick to respond and always helpful. Stay in touch with them as the move gets closer and ask the questions you need answered so as to be assured that everything is going as planned. They were spot on time to move our goods and delivered them interstate the next day, quicker than I expected. The men doing the move were courteous, quick, and helpful. The price was competitive and I was delighted with the overall service from Giffen. I can't fault Giffen. They are definitely a company you can trust.

Dale, Josh and Gillien moved us from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast , straight after New Year. They were lovely guys and also punctual, careful and flexible. They were also good problem solvers. When we couldn't get our King Bed in the Apartment block lift, they used pulleys to bring it up over the balcony. We also stored our furniture with Giffen, for a month, prior to the move. That was very helpful for us and is a great addition to their services. I used Giffen to backload furniture from Northern Beaches Sydney to Redcliffe. Joel and Jack were great to deal with and some expert driving from Jack to negotiate the alley ways of the storage facility in Sydney. Joel and TJ arrived at Redcliffe to unload my things. Again great to deal with and the job was done quickly and efficiently with no issues - everything arriving just as it left including the family heirloom china cabinet I’ve always heard it’s stressful and costly to move interstate but these guys made it easy and backloading is an excellent option if you are flexible with dates Highly recommend Giffen

I received a number of quotes which were cheaper than Giffen removal, but after one conversation with Sally I was confident Giffen were the removealists I needed to go with. It was obvious it was a well run business. The booking and quoting process was a breeze. We were running a tight schedule and only had one day we could do the move so couldn't' afford to go with anyone unreliable. The guys were perfectly on time, friendly and careful with our belongings. Nothing was damaged, and I had complete confidence in the guys to do the job well. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a quality removals company.

I'm very happy with the service I received from the team at Giffen. After another mover stood me up Sunday I emailed Mat that afternoon and got a call within the hour. He was able to slot my move in today & not only did they communicate well with me about their arrival time, they were on time & I was pleasantly surprised when the guys arrived by the professional presentation, attitude & great job done by both James & Drew. Recently used this family business to move my precious furniture from Brisbane to Sunshine Coast. They were amazing. Hi there, Giffen Furniture Removals were great for us. They moved a very large heavy two door fridge into our Queenslander house up some very steep and tight stairs. The boys doing the work, Richard, Jack and Connor were very careful and managed to avoid damaging the fridge and our newly painted stair case. They very carefully wrapped the fridge in a big blanket and then covered the blanket with shrink-wrap. They were punctual and polite and the quote for the job was cheaper than others. Very happy to recommend them for difficult movers.

A work opportunity had us moving out of our apartment on only a few days notice, and with a Piano to move, finding willing and able removalists was a tricky task. Not only were Giffen able to lock in a piano and furniture removal on a days notice, the customer service and crew were amazingly helpful and friendly. James on the phone, and Jeff and Josh on the day communicated excellently, were on time, fast, diligent and had our 2 bedroom apartment moved into storage within 2 hours (as quoted). I would not hesitate to use Giffen again.

I recently used Giffen to help me move and it's the second time I have used them. This time James B and Jayden helped me and I was really happy with the results. I was not as organised as I had planned for my move. Richard and King Kenneth breezed through my move smoothly and professionally. Recently had them do a move for from Brisbane. They insisted all my expensive power tools go in boxes even though I advised they needed to be carried loose. Here is the result. - Grease stains on corners of couch - Damaged scroll saw - Damaged drill press - Compressor had the drain valve snapped off and I specifically told them to be careful with it. - Brand new LG fridge now has 3 dents and scrapes from straps. Far from impressed. I do not recommend Giffen removals at all.

Matt and Sally have been extremely helpful with organising my last minute interstate move. The movers on the day, Jason and Reidman, were very friendly, efficient and used much care with with lifting and packing. From the first encounter with the company when a very fair and reasonable quote was given to the actual uplift I experienced very professional and courteous movers who displayed utmost care with my belongings. Just recently moved house and engaged the services of Giffen removals to help us with the move. The team of Jeff, Jordan, Luke and led by James were fantastic. Even though it was a very hot day they never complained once about anything and were very accomodating with any request to move furniture around as we attempted to arrange our things in our new home. Would have no hesitation in recommending these guys to anyone looking for someone to help them move.

Giffen were easy to contact and were willing to help even in the busy season. However, if you are getting anything delivered to the Townsville - Cairns region, save yourself the hassle and specify that they do not sub-contract the delivery to Will Move removalists at any cost. If they were to partner with someone besides Will Move, this review would be 5 stars as they too had enough of the lack of communication and poor service from their subcontractors.

I used Giffen removals to move house a month or so ago. I called them up on the DAY that I needed to move as the previous company I had booked fell through. They sent 2 very friendly men over that moved everything for me efficiently and carefully. We had polished timber floors in the new house and there was no damage to anything during their moving. Great company and made the stress of moving that little bit easier!

Matt Giffen was wonderful on the phone with his ability to organise this move remotely. He was very knowledgeable, accomodating and attentive. The boys who picked up the load were also wonderful. We used Giffen to move up north two years ago and because we were so happy with the service, used them again to return back down south. The admin assistance is prompt and friendly, we were able to organise a truck within a week and the removals team were on time and took so much care with our furniture.
