"Clean and well organised library with a great selection of books"
"Found it's strange to receive calls from this library when I was reserving books online for my kids"
"I thought a library was supposed to be quiet, but this library sounds as loud as an Asian buffet! Ok selection of books, and I can only sometime find the book that I want, it either doesn't exist, or is reserved or is on loan for a month"
"Please fire or at least educate all of those not very smart people working in the library"
Overall, I like to go to this library. As part of the Monash City library group, it possesses a large range of books, as well as magazines and newspapers. In particular, this library holds newspapers for 2 months (instead of 1 month like with most other Monash libraries), which has helped me a lot lately. They have great facilities, including a few study rooms, computers, and a good number of power point areas for laptops. There are toilets inside the library itself, and lockers outside which can be used for the temporary exchange of one's library card. Furthermore, the staff are always friendly and helpful. However, it isn't all positive. There is a silent study room, though I have found that it is often commandeered for use by the library. This isn't usually an issue, until it happens in the afternoon when the library becomes an after-school hang-out area for the local high schoolers. They make an incredible amount of noise, which makes the environment hard to work or study in - even when using a closed-off study room!
Clean and well organised library with a great selection of books. Staff are super helpful and friendly and it is a safe and inclusive space for everyone. There is a decent amount of work space for the size of the library with generous access to power outlets and fast and reliable wifi which is easy to log into - you just need to be a member which is free. Regarding the 'noise issues' addressed in multiple reviews, I don't really find it an issue and if I do find myself being distracted while working, I put headphones in and problem solved. I find the fact that families/children and local teens use the library and generate some noise is a positive not a negative - this is clearly a library for the community that is open and accessible to everyone, not just a select few under very strict rules. It reminds me of the small, community focused library in the rural town I grew up in (high praise) which I was pleasantly surprised to discover in a city library, which can often feel detached and impersonal.
Found it's strange to receive calls from this library when I was reserving books online for my kids. The staff persuaded me to visit library and look for books myself as it will take her 10 minutes to find each book. She didn't ask me to cancel my reservations, but she suggested me to borrow what's available on shelves. She said she made similar calls to others, and she tried to tell me she should not waste 10 minutes on free reservation. What do you think? is it the way they handle reservation? It's my first time to receive such horrible call from a librarian. Maybe she should complain to her manager instead of trying stopping people doing reservation online.
I thought a library was supposed to be quiet, but this library sounds as loud as an Asian buffet! Ok selection of books, and I can only sometime find the book that I want, it either doesn't exist, or is reserved or is on loan for a month. There are little kids running around on the ground and the bathrooms are dirty! You can rarely find a space on the tables with the plugs if you don't come early. The only good thing is the wifi!!!!!! The computers are crazy fast though running on INTEL CORE I7!!!! Only come here if you need some wifi and not when you need some precious study time!
Please fire or at least educate all of those not very smart people working in the library. Inform them that filming in public is legal and that there is no expectation of privacy in public. These people obviously have lower IQ and this job is to much for their abilities and they should not be working with people at all. They should be fired for not knowing the law and forcing their made up beliefs on law abiding citizen. They called the police to arrest someone because they didn't like him being there. I hope he will sue you for discrimination and false accusation.
The staff here are very friendly and do a great job in keeping the library clean and organised. Reservations are easy to organise and find. After school times on a weekday it can get very noisy and can be hard to find space, however it usually dies down pretty quickly. Overall a great place if you're looking to read or get some study done.
Good place to sit with a book or laptop but ONLY with the headphones on. I Really don't understand how a LIBRARY can be such a loud place? I Thought that library should be a place where everyone respects each other and shuts up whereas here, I feel like I'm surrounded by yelling kids (and teenage drama). The staff are really nice though.
A small and cosy library with the contents of a major one. There are multiple silent rooms and a wide range of books for its size. There are many resources including dvds and computer. Don’t forget the librarians here are amazing as well! However, this library is quite old and could do with some refurbishment.
There always are some people chatting and laughing in the studying area, ignoring other people's existence. Bad experience, actually the worst library I've been to recently. I hope the staff there could do more to keep their facility a suitable place to read, peacefully.
Visiting this place before the pandemic and lockdown, they have a large collection of kids books and storytimes for babies and preschoolers. The library is conviniently located next to the Glen Waverley busy areas, so you can find many restaurants and cafes nearby.
Friendly & helpful staff, however entrance is not on the carpark side, signage to entrance not great. COVID has been an absolute buzz kill, there is no access without mask, proof of vax & entrance thru security, barricades & fencing; click & collect is available
Busy library with a cosy feel, Glen Waverley Library always has something going on. Sometimes it can get a bit too loud and make it hard to concentrate. There is a surprisingly large range of books in this small library and there's something for everyone.
An amazing library where the staff are very friendly. Every week I come here to study and it's a great place where you can be productive and get work done. Can admittedly be a bit noisy sometimes however. Always a good place to study.
PCs available for use, an alright selection and variety of books, study room available for booking, good welcoming procedure (COVID-19). the big windows give natural light, but the view of the carpark is pretty meh when studying.
The Glen Waverley Library has computers and friendly staff which are willing to help you! Not just that there are plenty of books to borrow. Meaning that you can find lots of books/DVD drive so goodluck out there!
Good Library. Despite sluggish demand in real books, this is real needed facility. The proliferation of internet surely fueled the demand for online books, but we need to digging in our heels for real paper books.
study area is too noisy when students come, they don't have appropriate manners. Why library becomes such place like a market. The librarians don't take any actions even after people reflect the noise.
Very nicely organized library with well-laid out content, lovely decor and a large forecourt. Getting a membership was a breeze thanks to the nice librarians who guided us. Will be back very soon,
Friendly and helpful services. Clean and well lit library. Lots of seating and table space available for students. Big enough that children's classes do not bother the ambience of the library
Worst place to study, study area always occupied by a whole bunch of school that students that snack and chat loudly. Can't believe bean bags are placed in the study area either.
I love this library. Staffs are very friendly and helping. However, it is small space as compare with Glen Population ! Even after 1 hour of opening Library, hard to get a seat.
Excellent! Staff are very friendly and the place is too good for kids too. Lots of variety of books and lots of space around to enjoy the reading environment …
What’s the point to have a library with this kind of operating hours… totally not accessible for people who would like to have a space to work/study after hours.
Love visiting the library, the place feels like home, the staff are friendly and helpful and the place is always clean, neat and tidy
People talking too loudly, kids are running here n There. People doing video calls on computer. and staff is watching …
Absolutely fantastic library. I usually visit to deliver 1:1 Coding Classes to my students. My students likes this place.
Like in the children's area, very warm place, there are Chinese books, great! But sometimes it's too loud to be affected
Excellent. Very helpful. Had been awhile since l'd used computer with usb. And moving files. Great help with everything
Staff is very professional and ready to assist always. Thanks Kate and Asian lady for your services. Appreciated.
It's okay; in the afternoon, normally at 1300 - 1500, the study area is filled with students who talk a lot.
A JP is present on Wed morning 10:30 to 11:30 to certify documents. Very good service. Thank you JP Tony.
Friendly and helpful service. Thanks for the EAL reading club and lots of activities for the community.
This is where i came for years to help me study and find a place where i felt i could grow as a person.
Great library, free internet on their computers for 3 hours, never a wait and great to study
A small local library, quite noisy all day, and a bit difficult to access to the internet.
Can not study or read there completely...looks like a place for people to PARTY …
i love just sitting down and reading books with my pals. a moment to remember.
Open for picking up reserved books. Which is very good at this time :)
Keeps on hanging up on phone.... when I’m trying to book a study room
Is this even a library? with all the noise, it sounds like a market!
My daughter always has a whale of a time every time she’s there.
People are literally having interviews in quiet study area....
Excellent facility and open till late. Thanks Monash council.
Librarians are very helpful and kind. Great vibes for study
Library is ok but the staff can be impatient and rude.
