February 10, 2022 around 1am-2am my friend and I experienced the most horrific racism and hate from a Caucasian female bartender with a pointy beak like nose and the door guys that night. I’ve never felt so much racism directly intentionally in my life. This was our first time ever going to this bar and we were excited because of the great reviews and many activities you can do in the bar. The bartender I don’t know her name she refused to give it, the moment we walked in she gave the most disgusting look and said “ what do you want” I instantly felt attacked. We told her and she crossed her arms, forcefully pushed buttons on the screen, slammed our shot glasses down, and told us the order total without looking at us in the opposite direction. I gave her a $20 for 2 shots of tequila and she said it was $18, she slammed the $2 left on the bar counter and I left it there. She let it sit she didn’t even want to take my money which I should have taken back but I didn’t. Tried to show love even though she was showing hate. I thought I was dreaming but I wasn’t. We shrugged it off and went to the dance floor, caucasian men were cool and inviting, the caucasian women were rude, forcefully bumping into us, ugly nasty grimaces. I was so flabbergasted, the hate couldn’t be ignored. I requested a song from the dj and let him know it was my birthday and he said “ cool, I got you” initiated a fist pump. Awesome, right? No, the Dj played Meagan thee stallion for 5 seconds literally than switched back to his 2010 end playlist. I understand it’s a dance club but come on your tracks suck. I was yet again flabbergasted, dishonored. The environment of this club is white women with black men. So if you know you know. Just a nasty low vibrational place and I’m going to contact the owners and write a letter I’ll also be contacting the news. It’s black history month and the amount of hate I experienced is not going unnoticed , I expect them to be fired as the disciplinary action. This is 2022 if you have so much hate stay in the house, if this was my establishment I would not want anyone working for me who doesn’t respect my mission, my business, or my customers. If I could give zero stars I would.

I just left this bar, I usually have a great experience. A group of us went into the hidden door to buy drinks, upon exiting the bald guy guarding the exit snatches my drink from my hands saying “no drinks allowed outside”. I was holding on to my drink and he pulls it from me and we struggle a bit. I explicitly spoke with the bartender inside who said we can bring drinks outside. Needless to say, the entire thing was unnecessary and unprofessional. I did NOT appreciate being disrespected. On top of that, this is a bar I regularly visit on a weekly basis so sad to say I will never go again. And the bar was empty so the entire staff saw what happened and no on addressed me about it.. HORRIBLE experience. Note for staff - there’s plenty of bars like yours, maybe try not not let your ego get the best of you. There was like 12 of us in a group and we spent so much money at this bar.. I can’t believe this happened.

Got bottle service here with my group made a reservation in advance for 12 Cons Table fits more like 8max and in general was small and people from the dance floor fall into your section because the dance floor isn't that big. My biggest issue was we got there at 10 and once we didn't want another bottle at 1am (we got 3) they kicked us from the section. Typically if you make reservations its your table/section for the night as long as you spend the minimum, not here. Also they had trouble regulating the section next to us. There wasn't a reservation so random people were always sitting there for at least 20-30min in what you are supposed to pay for which made us getting removed from our section more annoying. Pros I thought the music and energy of the place was really good and staff was attentive and nice. Just wish the dance floor was a bigger.

Came here about a month ago for Halloween. They were having a Pulp Fiction costume party which i thought was pretty dope. I came with some friends dressed up and hoping to win the "twist contest". Ill start by saying that no one was really dressed up. A few of the employees were but it was pretty lame. Thinking that since we were about the only ones dressed up we would win the contest, we danced to the so called twist off all though they didnt play the actual song so it wasnt even a twist off. They let their employees participate and they won the contest. I have never been to any event where they let their employees win a contest. They barely even danced. Upsetting night all around. The drinks were subpar and pricey for what you get. Not only that but i had trouble getting them to serve me a drink. Wont be back.

make it make sense. they denied our friends with shorts on but when i was in there before them i saw people with shorts on (white people). we are a group of asians and they denied most of us. this isn't the first time. the other time, my boyfriend (asian) was wearing rhude fashion pants where strings were hanging out and they denied him bc it looked like athleisure. at first, we were okay whatever but we kept continuing to try to come here but someone from our group (asian) kept trying to come here but got denied. i don't recommend coming here unless you're white. make it make sense because if you go up there, not everyone is dress club attire, they are dress casual as heck. if you want to be a fancy wear then don't be on west sixth because no other club is dress wear. MAKE IF MAKE SENSE. thanks

  • Destiny Smith

Rude staff walking around and hounding people about wearing masks. However, Brent who is staff there, continued to walk around without a mask on. Upon walking in we were told to wear our mask when we were walking around, not any time we stood up by the table we were seated at. The rules and regulations need to be clearly stated upon entry and maybe again by the waitress once seated. There was no social distracting enforced so I found it ridiculous to try to be strict on masks when the masks are most effective when used in combination with social distancing. Then the door man upon exit snatched a cup of water from someone in the groups hand. I understand no open containers that contain liquor but water should be an exception and to take it from someone’s hand is rude.

If you are brown, this club is not for you.One of the guys from staff, He followed us since we entered and he kicked us out. This is crazy. We asked the staff what did we do wrong but no answer. The only thing staff guys was saying is “you need to leave”. He took us to back door and told us this how you leave. Brown people are rich, they tip and they are fun loving people. Don’t underestimate them. You cant kick us out bcz of our skin color and looks. BTW we (all girls) were well dressed and just came from a fancy dinner. After this tragic event , we went to PLAY and it was super fun!

I really enjoy going here for UGA games. However, this is the SECOND time this bar has SCAMMED ME! Everyone should be extremely wary of using their debit/credit cards at this bar. I was charged for the original amount on my tab, WHICH I SIGNED FOR, then an additional $30. Not a big deal when it happens once, however I have left various voicemails for the manager, and never heard back. I will also be reaching out to the UGA Alumni to inform them of this. Ridiculous that I have to have money stolen from me when I'm just trying to watch the Dawgs play. Y'all need to do better.

I seriously love this place! It’s location, atmosphere, staff…and not to mention the drinks! My go-to used to be the spiked Capri-sun, but now I’m currently obsessed with their Cherry Limeade. They have a nice wrap around patio that has an awesome view of downtown. I like that they also have a smaller bar on the patio, so we never really have trouble getting drinks quickly. The music is always something I can dance to and the staff make this place worth the 5 stars. We never miss a chance to pop into Green Light Social when we’re downtown!

  • Jhazmine Billups

The DJ was great and there were actually people dancing. Rather than just standing in the middle of dance floor chatting. The club has a nice wrap around balcony so if you get hot dancing you have a quieter place to try and find a seat and cool off. They have 2 bars one in the middle of the club and one out on the balcony. You can get your standard drinks from both. Overall I would recommend. Especially to ladies looking for a place to check out for your next girls night out. ( Keep an eye out for a little surprise while your there )

Bouncer staffed on Saturday the 27th around 10:30pm is completely unprofessional. Had a great experience about 2 hrs earlier and tried to come back but was denied due to wearing “gym shorts” (khaki shorts that didn’t require a belt). Either total lack of knowledge from management on attire standards or a power trip from the bouncer caused the business to lose money and customers at the end of the day. Was a great bar to hangout at earlier in the night but totally uncomfortable when trying to return and dealing with these “bouncers”.

Green light social was amazing. The Security was more than amazing. Everyone was sweet and nice. I felt like I could actually talk to them & feel comfortable in their presents. I really enjoy how Sammy (The security guard ) he was more than a tentative & sweet it made my time downtown worth while. If you ever come to greenlight social definitely ask for Sammy he loves his job & will be exceptional. I promise you you’ll have an amazing time you’ll be taken care of and you will feel like you matter. Thanks Sammy <3

Making our way down 6th street we went to Green Light social. We went on a Friday night, and were nostalgic when having the Capri Sun + Vodka drink. The "that's what she said," was also tasty, with the macerated strawberries. Overall the bar is ok, the music on Friday night was much better than on Saturday. It was quite disappointing on Saturday (no transitions, couldn't read the room). We ended up leaving soon after coming. Also, wish we knew what was in Benny's room...

  • cris baird

We had our 34th company Christmas party here this year; I don't think we could have picked a better place! Great weather allowed the inside to open up to the outdoors and make plenty of room for our 100 person crowd! Staff was spot on and assisted in every way possible to ensure that we had a great time! Music and atmosphere were catered toward our group perfectly! Highly recommend if your looking to book a private event! Will probably see these guys next year!

  • Selene van der Walt

Absolutely worst bar experience I’ve had in Austin. Always a line even though it’s no different from any other bar minus the caprisun gimmick. I also just watched the bouncer ask a black man to tuck in his chain for no apparent reason, pass through three white guys without a second look, and then ask another black man to button his shirt up more so I’m not sure what sort of image this bar is supposed to be portraying but it is not one I’m supportive of at all.

  • Anthony Berryhill

Tried attending during their 7th year anniversary. Has a "dress code" that isn't advertised at the bar itself, website, etc. although many folks who the bouncer let in were very ... not fancily dressed. Seems like race, gender, etc. determines if you are welcome here, sadly. Picture is of the kinda bummy dressed bouncer who was enforcing the nonexistent "dress code" while complimenting non minorities on things like their horn. Not kidding.

  • Tobias Cronstrom

Bouncers working Saturday 12/16 had a “no foreigners” policy. My friend who is visiting from abroad was denied for no other reason than having foreign IDs. We did not have this issue at any other bars in Austin. I find it odd that an Austin bar would have such xenophobic and racist door policies. If you’re foreign, don’t bother coming here. Americans only.

I am not a night club person. However, when in town for my bachelorette we went to Green Light Social and had a fantastic time. Out of all the bars we want to in Austin that weekend it was by far our favorite. They even had an adorable gif/photo booth! It was very crowded but they kept it well air conditioned so it wasn’t to bad. If I was in Austin and wanted to go dancing, that’s for sure where I would go.

  • Michelle Crabtree

For a typical Austin bar on 6th street, this place is fine. However, the description and photos make it look a little special, a place where you could get a decent cocktail downtown, play some games, and have a good time while not being a bro. But y'all, for real this place is SUPER basic. Also, we had literally the worst drinks... like laughably disgusting. It is really just a continuation of dirty 6th.

  • E

Bouncer out front, Stephen, was super nice! The speak easy in the back had a really cool vibe, and the drinks were yummy. Only complaint is that our bartender, guy with longer hair, took 45 minutes to finish making two drinks for another couple and then make our four cocktails. I also had to tell him 3 times what drinks we order. I think they need to put the more experienced bartenders in the back!

BEST BAR IN AUSTIN, TEXAS. If you’re looking for a nightclub in Austin, TX, than look no further than Green Light Social. Whether you want to hangout on the patio, enjoy dancing inside with the DJ, or have more of a intimate experience with close friends in Benny’s Room — you literally can have it ALL here! I love going to Green Light Social & the bartenders are AMAZING!!!

  • Stefan Cruz

Love this place. The bartenders are really chill and down to earth (and also ridiculously fast at making drinks). Really cool vibes: rooftop bar with a speakeasy. The speakeasy section has a nice whiskey selection, but we only were able to get in because we knew somebody. I take all my visitors here as an intro to Austin nightlife. Haven't been disappointed yet

  • MJ Richards

I got turned away because they “have a policy against pants that don’t have belt loops.” They let in several of my white friend’s who had pants without belt loops immediately before me. We all left when they turned me away. Without me bringing this up, several of those friends said they felt it was a race issue because they all got in and I didn’t.

  • Matticus Lowery

Another place I finally visited after being in Austin for over 3 years. Should have gone sooner. There’s usually a line to get in and it’s tight after you get inside, but it’s a good experience with great music and drinks that bring your childhood back. Just be careful not to drink them too quickly because they sure sneak up on you.

  • Anet Garcia

if you are hispanic do not visit that place they are racist and they are not friendly. And don't even think about asking for Hispanic music, racism at its best, but we Latinos are still the tough ones. ask the Boss Daddy Yanke or Bad Bony

I got bottle service for my friends and signed a receipt for $960, which INCLUDED tip, and which I still have. My credit card statement shows they charged me $1160 ($200 over), and then they charged me ANOTHER $720 for no reason at all. I had to dispute the transactions. Keep your receipts, you can't trust this place.

  • Cameron Lowell

Great bar in a central area of West 6th. The rooftop was awesome and definitely the highlight of the bar. Drinks were pricy but decent. The service I encountered was pretty OK, rushed me off of a patio game on Saturday eve without much patience, but not a big deal. I'd come back.

  • Chris Stotz

I got a max of 3-4 coors lites, and upon checking my bank statement the next day, TWO $ transactions were deducted. I tipped normally, and did not leave my card. even if each beer was $5 that still doesnt come to $40. My friend got the exact same charge on his account as well.

  • Crystal Kyanko

When I’m doubt, I always hit green light social!!! It’s my fav west 6th bar. Not sure what the people are referring to when they are talking about rude staff. Every staff interaction I have ever had was super friendly and attentive:) make sure to try the adult Capri suns ;)

  • Dalton Wardell

Was denied entrance for having shorts on. Within the next few minutes saw individuals being allowed in with shorts on. I’m happy to comply with any dress code that may exist but clear discrimination happening it seems

Cool little rooftop bar on 6th. Don't let the mirrors fool you, there is a speak easy in the back to see your every move. Bar tender was amazing! Small selection of beers, the mixed drinks are definitely the stars of the menu. Alcohol infused CapriSuns? Straight GENIUS.

  • John Rolfe

Came here to enjoy college basketball, instead manager refused to play the game stating management won't allow him and he does what he's told.. The bar had very few customers with the majority on the patio. To make matters worse, the bar proceeded to play subpar music.

  • Lori Malone

It's a club, it's a Bachelorette's starting point apparently on a Saturday night. There were at least a dozen Bachelorette parties. They should start a dance battle of the bride to be, west side story! Or west 6th story. It's a fun place and the staff is friendly.

  • Jeremy Yowell

Fun spot! Didn't stay long enough to try multiple rounds, but the one round we had was well made and quickly served. Really appreciated the great indoor space on a hot labor day weekend. I'd recommend a visit if you're in the area and looking for a cold drink.

  • Kylee A Smith

Went thinking the bar was still a Browns bar and the bartender rudely informed me they no longer will play Browns game or support fans because of Baker Mayfield (sorry he sucks??). She was quite unpleasant but girl could make one hell of a Bloody Mary.

  • Lilliana D.

Service here is horrible, no room to dance. Beware of their inability to keep the bugs in check. I literally saw a palmetto crawling up a chick's back. There were dead bugs all over the patio area and crawling around on people's abandoned drinks too.

  • Andy Holloway

The Green Light has a really great vibe to it, especially in the Spring and Fall months, as it has an outdoor, rooftop patio. It can get rather tight inside, as there is only room for about 150-200 people. The bartenders inside really know

  • MC Medina

Pick a time, anytime. This is the place to be. Whether your into beers, craft cocktails, capri suns w/ vodka, or just straight shots, the DJ & music is always nice with the mixing too!

Used to love this spot. Went in one night and left my card. Came back a few days later (bc this was their hours) was told they were too busy to give it to me. Came back at a less busy time and was told my card was not there. Thanks GLS!

  • Andrea Curran

Very nice venue! The bartender was awesome! He made sure to help me find a drink to fit my needs and was very personable! It was packed for the event that I attended but the views on the balcony were great. I hope to visit again soon.

  • A Kuliyev

Masked security is corrupted. He will not get regular people. He will get corrupting him customers. Masked Latino security, who will judge customers as he wishes. Very bad , I will go different bar than greenlight.

  • Kelley White Wilkinson

AMAZING spot. Came here for a bachelorette and we CRUSHED the Capri sun drinks- literally so good. Then the manager came by and gave us a free bottle of champagne. Great spot for drinks. Rooftop bar is beautiful.

  • Jon Lussier

Went here for a Cleveland Browns game since it's a Browns backer bar. Did not eat here but did drink. Service was good and the place was packed. Standing room only. Great atmosphere to watch a Browns game

Good place with good music but the bartender added on to the tip I had already given him on the check. That's basically stealing. Places with those kind of bartenders always ruin the experience.

  • Matt Peterson

Kamry was a great bartender l, along with the rest. I'm 51 so the music sucked and played too loud but I don't think I am the target audience on west 6th. Every bar was the same for music More

  • A.B. REIGN

I like this spot! They don't give you a full shot on the more expensive alcohols, but the atmosphere was pretty cool. Lots of dancing and good music! Good place to mingle and network.

  • Mark Chen

Cool bar. Benny's place is kinda weird. You have to leave your drink outside and then once you go in, you can't leave with your new drink. And they only server tequila back there.

  • Ryan P

Always popping and the music is awesome, solid DJs on the reg. PAT behind the bar always has great vibes & energy. They all do really. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

  • Joseph Barajas

If you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community, stay away. Their staff will assault you and the venue will take ZERO accountability for the actions of the staff they employ!

  • Julian Hartsell

This spot is definitely a vibe!!! From bottle service music, bar tenders and Security. The entire bar is on point! Shout out to security for keeping the night clean

  • Genesis Atencio

Security guy wouldn’t let me in because he just didn’t want to. He was rude. Not coming to this place ever again. Treat people nice.

  • Ronnie Canada

It was a place in which no matter what color your race was it it reached out to a lot of people of all races and stuff and I love

  • Mason Davis

Consistently great music and a fun crowd! The bottle girls and bartenders are dope and always have fun on the busy weekend nights

  • Mariana R

I am 21 and was not allowed only bc I have an international ID, it’s the only place where this has happened, never coming back.

  • Whitney Neel

Do not recommend. They did not allow someone to enter due to them dropping their ID while taking it out of their wallet.

  • Erica Au

Fun spot for dancing and nightlife. Didn't get kicked out after drunkenly dancing on a table so that was nice of them.

  • Armand Daniels

Nice rooftop spot. The beer was not ice cold when I ordered it on the patio but they replaced it at the inside bar.

  • Shashank Kaveti

Literally racist service. I wouldn’t recommend going here at all.
