Green square station is one of the newer stations built when they built the airport stations, so the platforms all look the same. This station on the T8 line has 2 platforms. There's some construction going on with the East Botany Rd exit closed. There's 2 lots of escalators/stairs. Do not attempt to climb the bigger flight of stairs (unless you have strong legs) because they they are never ending. Only one stop from Central station this station is super close to the CBD. The surrounding area isn't too nice snd quite industrial but they are making it more residential now.
Absolutely horrible during peak hour, though it is getting marginally better. Probably twice a week you are stopped from going down onto the platform as there are too many people, which means that you end up missing several trains. Loads of stairs so the escalators and lifts definitely help. Staff are friendly and do their best to control the crowds and the situation. Only two platforms which is great for not getting lost but horrible for commuters!
Somehow, with our low relative densities in Australia we have a paralysed train service. This hub is so busy it is now a safety matter requiring crowd management. Unacceptable train densities which can be obviously linked to the easily predictable above ground urban regenerations. From DA to completion nothing has been done. Key limb missing in : infrastructure strategy for green square
There are much better stations in Sydney, but also much worse. I feel like the escalators are never fully in working order. It’s a whole bunch of zigzagging and the stair are super intense if you’re not expecting them. Don’t bother trying to line up for the lift, it’s quite a wait. I guess the positive is you can truly get your steps in here.
It is long overdue that more exits are available from this station. There is a blocked underground walkway that once open will provide much better access for everyone. In the meantime, the single exit brings everyone out to a wet or windswept square. Good access to rail to airport or for change at Wolli Creek or Central.
Station is nice and acceptably clean. Location is great. But trains service in this line need lots of improvement. Including more frequent trains, decreasing the 15 min gap in between trains. Weekend availability is very uncertain, they’ll close the train service with no replacement buses.
The escalator is broken again, and each time it's out of order for at least several months. There's a long queue again in the morning, what a terrible day. I heard that parts from Germany will take several months, can't believe such backwardness.
Found it easy to navigate the earlier the better. Like any train station in Sydney City they all have their busy times you want to avoid the crowd. Green square gets very congested around the inner access stairwells to the platforms on peak times
There are good and bad to this station. It is one of the newer stations in Sydney and so has a staple modern design. It is quite a nightmare during the peak hours though and the train services are quite infrequent. It is also not very neat
This station is too small for the amount of people going through it, especially at peak times. The trains are not frequent in either direction so if you miss it you are waiting a while for the next one. During peak times there will be
Green Square is probably one of the worst example of planning in Australian history. A once functional station has almost ground to a halt throughout the mornings and afternoons due to a lack of urban planning and greed. Green Square
Nice place. It is a joint for baby as they have a few restaurants here. Train station, food joints, pub, bar and a few hotels around. Weather is hot during summer days. Crowded during evenings till late night. Lot
Joke of a station, it’s either closed or facilities are constantly broken, staff rude and fail to let passengers know of delays, cancellations etc.
The escalator is always temporarily closed. As they just fixed it on last of September and same again. How unconvenient is that.
Good size station and clean but no staff to b found. Easy to get around not confusing at all unlike some underground stations...
Very long distance from the edge of the platform to the train. A baby stroller can fail even with large wheels. Be careful!
Great station, lifts to each platform although the platforms are a bit narrow.
Good location clean and easily accessible
Airy clean smart new station
