My first experience of this practice was one I'll never forget for reasons beyond the control of the team at Green Cross South Melbourne. The team were incredible friendly and I found Sean the Vet, to be someone who is so passionate and connected to animals, I knew my beautiful cat was in safe hands. Sean is a passionate & outstanding vet who describes himself as someone who is better with animals than people. As someone who loves animals & wants the best for mine, I would much rather a vet who is great with my loved ones than great with me! That's said, I found Sean to be honest, caring, to the point & supportive from the beginning. Unfortunately for me, my little furry one was incredibly ill & in more pain than I realised and had to be put to sleep. I was given as much time as I needed with her & Sean was ready to answer any and all questions I may have had. They even contacted me after with a beautiful bereavement card & an offer of an ear if I needed to talk. If you're looking for somewhere where your loved animals come first foremost, Sean & the team are for you.

They're fine, but never open til 7, I've never seen them open after 6.30pm, which has stuffed me up a few times when trying to pick up tablets after work (arriving after peak hour struggle to find the place closed). The location is difficult to get to through busy traffic and often hard to get a park. And I feel like a hassle asking the vet to sign pet insurance forms. Receipts can't be emailed unless the receptionist checks with the vet first, which might take a few days. It smells strongly of cigarette smoke which is why I'd never board my cats there (plus pets are kept in cages with no roaming time :( ). I signed a form stating to NOT anaesthetise my pet during 6 monthly checkup (which can only be done on weekdays and your pets have to stay the whole day) and the vet anaesthetised my pet and then charged me $94 for it! It's cheap for checkups and 'preventative health', but you get what you pay for, and unfortunately I've paid through to August already..

My partner went to this vet today and she said the level of customer service was terrible. She was rushed in and out and felt like a number. Our puppy had a vaccination and a health check, the health check was a quick ear look in and quickly checked her fur. No heart beat was measured nor did the vet give her any chance to ask any questions. This cost 80 dollars! Then the vaccination on top. She also was going to give our puppy a vaccine that was not requested by us. The vet also told my partner that the dog was into everything. No treats were given when our pup had the vaccination and was being a good girl. The nurse on reception was nice and friendly, but asked for an extra 15 dollars to get her nails clipped. Surely this would be part of the consultation. If you are after quality service, do not go here. It's a rip off and I've had such better service at other vets like the st Kilda vet on chapel street who loved our pup and spent half an hour with us.

I was so happy with my experience at South Melbourne green cross vets. Despite the covid 19 restrictions they have in place Paige was so warm and welcoming and so obviously cared about my little girl whippet and also my older boy whippet who wasn't there for a visit. She explained everything very clearly and when we arrived on the day of the procedure my little girl was so thrilled and excited to see her again. After the procedure Paige rang me to assure me that my little whippet was recovering well then sent me photos of the two of them. So even tho I was naturally anxious for my little dog having an anaesthesia Paige made my feel really reassured. She then followed up the next day with a phone call to see how things were going. And to top everything off the price was MUCH less than I was quoted by any other nearby vet.

The clinic sent an appointment confirmation text to me, stating to remain in the car upon arrival. So I asked the question -- given I don't have a car, what are the next steps I should be taking since I don't drive and I can't remain in a vehicle that I don't own. There's question around is this a drive through Vet? Do they not allow clients to bring their pets into the clinic? One of the staff members then responded to my text in the most condescending manner, stating they don't provide travel support to their clients and suggesting I should be taking trams/taxi/Uber. Not impressed with the attitude given by this Vet, so I decided to cancel my appointment. I don't think I can trust a Vet clinic that shows such a condescending and rude attitude to their customers.

What a terrible customer service experience. I walked I. At 12.59 (they close at 1) to pick up worming tablets, they didn't even need to see my dog! They were processing someone at the counter and said sorry we're closed. I tried to tell the nurse that I was just picking up tablets and she replied it will take about 5 mins to run through this (the people she was serving). I said that's fine no problem, she looked at me '... AND we're totally closed'... I couldn't believe it. It was exactly one min to closing, they knew I was coming and it was worming tablets. I left and went down to port melb vet clinic where I was met with MUCH better service... And I have a Great Dane which means lota of $$ for vets! my hard earned $$s won't ever be going to Sth melb!

I went there this morning with a injured bird. The lady there came to the door. She told me there was no vet on duty which I found strange because why would they be open? I told her that I would be leaving the bird there and she said no. I insisted on leaving the bird there and she became aggressive. I told her that she should be ashamed working in the animal care industry. She said she was going to call the police if I didn't go away. She then proceeded to push me out the door. The cameras there will clearly show she assaulted me and I should have called the police. I'm assessing now whether to press changes. Do not take your animals there. These people clearly don't care about animals. An absolutely disgrace....

The Vet and staff were kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. They listened, spent time to understand my dog and her problems, they have options and suggestions, supported me in my decisions and gave advice that was specifically about me and my dogs problems. They suggested ways that reduced my wait times, costs and travel. The vet contacted me a week later to check on my dog and how her treatment was going. She remembered my dog and what her issues were as well as her personality and behaviours. I couldn't have been more happy with our treatment and support. They are everything you could want in the support of the health of your pet. Thank you so much for keeping my little big anxious girl safe and well.

I have recently moved to the CBD and needed a new vet. South Melbourne Vet has met my expectations. I visited there this week and am very happy with the service. They have very reasonable pricing, I was suprised how cheap my bill was for a check up and vaccination. The receiptionist, Amanda was so helpful and kind. The vet was lovely and you could tell he had a real love of animals. Another receptionist even came out and had a play and cuddle of my pug. Real animal lovers here, exactly what you want in a vet. They also sell the special food my pug needs! It is so difficult to find (Royal Canin S/O diet) Bonus!!! Thank you again. Regards Ashton.

Thank you so much Rowan from South Melbourne veterinary clinic. I called late last night about my collie rough Brodie was off his food, listless, vomiting and coughing. Rowan was so helpful advising me that it was probably kennel cough and inviting me to bring him in the following day for observation and keep him quiet. This morning Brodie ate his breakfast and wagged his tail. I was most heartened and decided to keep him home on observation for today before possibly attending the vet this evening. So grateful for Rowans response and reassuring advise. He is now Brodies vet as well as my mums dogs vet.

I understand this is a difficult time for the business. But the vet and the receptionist were being surprisingly rude and unprofessional today. First of all, there was no reminder of only allowing one person in the shop on the website anymore so I assume they’re fully back to business. However, when we arrived the receptionist was cold and unwelcome. During the consultation, the doctor was rude and keep rushing through the process. And at some point I even feel he was rolling his eyes to me. It was an unpleasant visit. I will be canceling my membership from greencorss.

The wonderful team at Greencross South Melbourne made our little anxious chihuahua feel like he’s safe and at home. Taylor and I believe the other lovely girl’s name was Holly, we’re amazing in making us feel comfortable. Ralphy let them trim his nails with ease, he’s had some previous bad experience at another vet in Queensland, but it was a complete surprise to see how comfortable he was at this clinic. Seriously couldn’t recommend these guys enough, especially due to the caring and friendly staff. Thank you so much!

Veterinarian & staff are nice - but they don't really care or do their job properly. How are you going to tell me 5 minutes before a microchip appointment i needed to register my cat through my local council when my appointment was made a month in advance? Or worse - not do a thorough first check up to then come to find out my cat had ringworm which spread all over my body and face and affected my housemates? I never leave happy or satisfied as a customer and do not recommend this vet for first time pet owners.

They are all so friendly. This is my local vet and today I went to pharmacy as i am unwell and found an injured sparrow on collins st near a window with a suspected broken wing. I don't drive and Wildlife victoria would not take him as he is not native. They suggested taking it to the Lort Smith Animal Hospital but when I called them they said to take it to a local vet. I took him to my vet and the lovely vet nurses took him and looked after him. Im so glad they gave him a chance! Thank you guys! Xx

Amazing crew, very lovely and caring. They communicate very well and let you know what needs to be done to improve you pets’ quality of life. Their primary concern is animal health and welfare. I’ve read some of the reviews and I am surprised that people expect a service for free. Of course any veterinary clinic is a private business given the industry is not supported by the government and most clinics are not charity subsidised. In any case, I really like the team here and I trust them.

Very very Happy. Took my doggo Daisy in for a script refill. The vet was very kind, knowledgeable and informative. Also had no fear of Daisy’s breed which many vets in the past have or have refused to see her because of this. Also my dog is a rescue and has a fear of women due to previous abuse during foster care, the vet bonded with her. Pricing was better than previous vets too. Needless to say we are both very happy and will be a regular patient. Thank you very much.

Have been trying to call this morning since 8am (advertised opening hour) and still getting the automated “we are closed and will reopen in the morning” at 9:27am. Nothing on the website to indicate their opening hours have changed. Quite stressful. Edited to add: the helpful team at Greencross Williamstown informed me that the South Melbourne location is closed every Thursday this month! Would be helpful to have this information reflected on your website.

Judgmental, arrogant, rude staff. I was taken back by the way I was spoken to over the phone. I don't know who that person thought she was but before she even considered my circumstances/ situation, she jumped the gun and made a judgemental call that lead to a terribly rude tone of voice and interruptions of what I was trying to explain to her. I will be taking my cat to a different vet. Never coming back here again, shame on you.

Terrible please ! Service is shocking and Sean the vet on site is terrible , has lost his passion and does not care at all . He treats owners like we are stupid just for the fact we asked questions, we gave them several chances to change our mind coming back however the last time he refuse to treat our dog because she had a eye injury and it was to hard !!! So he let her go like that at 5pm . This is like -10 stars

I've previously been happy with the care my pet received from Greencross, however recently wait times for appointments have become quite long and my appointment was cancelled with 48hrs notice and unable to be rebooked for two weeks. I hope they are able to recruit permanent vets and offer regular appointments as the Greencross Healthy Pets plus Membership program is an excellent way to manage vet costs.

You can tell the people that work here are animal people. My 10 week old Charlie took to everyone so well. Didn’t cry or make a fuss. Very thorough in explanations and options. This is will now be my go to vet. Yes the hours have changed but a lot of businesses are experiencing this at short notice due to the Covid variant I think we all need to be understanding of that right now. Webvet is great.

Accommodative admin ladies and our vet was just the most wonderful human. He is thorough in his examinations, took time to explain the issues with us and always offered more than one method of treatment. We came to our appointment in a rush and wasn't overly prepared, our vet lent us a towel to put inside our carry cage so that our cat can have more comfort. Highly recommend this clinic.

I don't understand how they can continue to run a business with the level of integrity they have. I love taking my dog there, and just having a chat with the genuinely lovely staff. Plus the prices for a nail trimming/clipping are so good I still think I owe them money, despite them repeatedly assuring me that I don't. If this vet is in your area, your dog's one of the lucky ones!

Paige is a gun in reception and the team are very compassionate. We have had a couple of issues with our Cat, and between Green Cross and Animal emergency, she is on the mend. Recommended for sure. Like with anything, a secondary opinion doesn’t hurt if you’re not satisfied, however more often than not, the team are on the money and happy to refer for more serious cases.

I just went there today, try to buy the cat clear collar. But the reception was so rude, asked me many questions, and no patience at all. I just simply want to buy the collar, the person such like her, can't be the reception at all. So ashame. And now I got the one I want from the pet stock, travel to the other sub, because the south melbourne's Pet Stock was sold out..

We've been talking our two dogs here for nearly three years and we're always very happy with their service, professionalism and attitude. Dr Sean takes the time to sit down with us and talk through every step of the consult, give in depth break downs of test results and treatments if required without being condescending or over technical. I brought in one of our cats at the very last minute, because he had a wound from playing top much with our other cat. When we went, there was no vet on that day, but the nurse suggested for us to come in for a nurse assessment. And it was done with care and straightforward. The nurse was also so lovely and helpful. And they gave me free of charge for the assessment!!

Shaun is very knowledgeable and attentive. He always walks us through all the potential side effects and effectivity of treatment options for our cat. Rather than giving the animal all possible treatments, he uses his knowledge and experience to come to the best way to proceed. We always feel that our cat is safe in his hands.

Have always been so friendly to my dog, making her calm, giving her treats, letting her explore. They also are so good with money. I took my dog in for 3 treatments and because 2 of them didnt require much work they gave it to me for free. (Cant say they will always do that, just making a point they are very reasonable)

First time at this Greencross clinic. Staff fitted me in after calling for a last minute appointment. Staff were very friendly and Koda even came out tail wagging. He had great cuddles with the staff member and we left after a very positive vet experience. Highly recommend!!

Don’t take your pet here! I took my poor dog in a week ago and the vet told me that she had no concerns. Less than a week later, I took my little girl to a different vet and she is now in intensive care with something that, if treated a week ago, could have saved her life.

Took my dog here as she was sick and my regular vet was unable to see her on the same day. Dr Leo showed great care, and even called me several days after the appointment to check on how my dog was doing. This meant a lot considering she was not a regular patient of his!

Only open three days a week and never any appointments available that week so absolutely useless if your pet is feeling unwell. They clearly need more staff.
