"A clean and beautiful dog park"
"I enjoy taking my dog to Greenwood dog park - the other dogs are friendly as are their people and it's a good way to socialize your dog during these pandemic times"
"Despite the stones (which help keep dogs clean in unstable Winter/Spring/Fall weather, but some dogs do not like); this park is a great size and usually full of great local people as well as dog walkers (10am, Noon, and around 1pm there are walkers, 4-6pm during the week is usually full of the usual regulars)"
"Kinda messy for big open area, but hello like duh"
"Great dog park"
A clean and beautiful dog park. The "field" is filled with little pebbles which has its positives: clean, no grass upkeep, no mud. But I'm not sure how gentle they are on the paws. My little pal stuck to the sidewalk surrounding the pebbled area and it was a cool day. It must be very hot during the peak of summer. There is no separate area for smaller dogs but there is a watering station by one of the entrances - which is an excellent feature but the best part about this park is the people. Like most downtown parks, it is filled with dog walkers. But unlike most of the other parks these walkers seemed to actually take responsibility for their dogs. I'm not sure if it's a community mindset but I was very impressed. Too many parks that we've been too were littered with dog walkers who chatted away with their fellows without a care for their dogs. An excellent park that we'll be sure to visit again, but probably not on a hot day.
I enjoy taking my dog to Greenwood dog park - the other dogs are friendly as are their people and it's a good way to socialize your dog during these pandemic times. My dog (and my previous Lab) does not love the pebble substrate in the fenced in dog area. Unlike some dogs he'll walk on it but he won't do some of the main things we brought him to the dog park to do such as running to fetch his ball, an activity he loves doing for 80% of his waking hours! So the dog park is good for socializing but not burning your dogs energy. The substrate needs to be changed to mulch or grass again please.
Despite the stones (which help keep dogs clean in unstable Winter/Spring/Fall weather, but some dogs do not like); this park is a great size and usually full of great local people as well as dog walkers (10am, Noon, and around 1pm there are walkers, 4-6pm during the week is usually full of the usual regulars). There are some toy thieves in all time frames so be aware that you might lose a toy if you bring one. The park is getting re-done later this year so if the stones are a concern to you (or your dog), just watch for the updates.
Kinda messy for big open area, but hello like duh. In hindsight wasn't the the best day to take them for their first little adventure. But immediately my little guy was off an a runn'in. My other one. Well she's coming up on 13, so she'll get in there once in awhile and have a little fun to. When the mood hits her lol....thats my silly girl fir ya. Cant wait till it's fully finished. Gonna be an look so cool... Yah Awesomeness thus far
Great dog park. Some old reviews mention that it doesn’t have a fountain or shade but it does. It has a picnic table, some benches, and a shade over the table area. It also has a foundation area with a standard fountain and lower fountain for the fur babies. Also instead of sand, which I find gets very messy, it has gravel. Harder for dogs to run but cleaner. Also great that it has a gorgeous park surrounding it and very well lit.
The section for small dogs would have been a great addition but because the large dog section is muddy people are bringing dogs well over 20lbs into the small dog area. I couldn’t prevent my small dog from getting chased and trampled by dogs 3-4x his size so I don’t recommend it for small dog owners at least during wet days. If you have a big dog? Well your side is a mud pit so I don’t recommend that either.
First time here, driven by it for 10+ years and kept saying we would try it out. Well today was the day and our pups liked it. Sadly it isnt as disability friendly for those with mobility issues as some other leash gree parks are but over all access is decent and the peastones are only a issue if you have balance or other injuries that make walking on unstable areas a problem.
Used to be a good place but now itsterrible. No she for the dogs or fountain like in many other dog parks. It was resurfaced with small stones that heat up in the summer and hurt the dogs paws regardless of the season. Dogs don't run here instead they all walk along the paved areas adjacent to the fence. Worst park in Leslieville Beaches or Danforth area.
Awesome dog park for me and my dog, clean area, separate area for small and big dogs, fake grass but makes it easier to clean. Benches are available for fur moms and dads to relax while their pups are playing. My pooch have a wonderful play time. If they can make it bigger for everyone to have a good run. One side is still under construction.
An amazing dog park which will only get better once the construction is fully complete. The small dog area (pictured) is done and is spacious and clean. The larger area looks like it'll have a small hill along with various terrain features. As a bonus, public toilets for humans are available just across the park, a few minutes away.
This dog park would be better if instead of gravel stones there was sand. My dog wasn't happy walking or running on the small stones, and mostly stayed on the pavement around the perimeter. Other than that, Greenwood Park is a good spot to get some fresh air in the east end.
The newly renovated Greenwood dog park is a great space. Accessible walkways, water for the dogs, separate small dog area. The main area has artificial turf on a hill for the dogs to run up. Still waiting for the natural turf area to open. The space is a bit small.
Quite off our regular walking route, however it was a pleasurable surprise. The fact there's a turf field in the middle helped a lot in the heavy rain we experienced, so my dog didn't get too dirty. There's a gazebo for owners too. Fairy new and well maintained.
Generally clean; dogs don't love the ground cover, a type of gravel, but they work with it. Overall, a great location because it's convenient and stands within a beautiful park. Fully enclosed, this is the best park if you have a dog who likes to run away!
The gravel sucks. Dogs don't like running on it. Just compare how dogs run inside and outside the park. Several dogs with aggression issues and inattentive owners use the park. Stay away if you have a medium to small sized dog that is on the meek side.
The entire thing is pebbles. Terrible for someone with a disability. My dogs hated it as it was hard to run on and hurt their feet. Whom ever designed this place should be fired. Clearly they did not consider it was supposed to be for dogs.
This doggy park was fabulous, there's something for everyone. Big dogs, little dogs, tiny weeny dogs, There's areas allocated for every type of dog.. Evening is very clean, Penny loved it. This park gets a four paws review.
Beautiful spot, excellent settings from big to tiny separate sections for each if need be. And all the pet friends are so comfortable in there with ample space to run an play, with water to keep from heat/dehydration. More
Not a great dog park. It was the only one I knew of in the area that's completely fenced off. But the ground is all pebbles. My dog didnt like it at all. I wish they had grass or atleast something easier on their paws.
Lots of dogs around noon as dog walkers bring them there, I like it - my dogs pretty indifferent. My dog isn't a fan of the pebbles they laid out though. Its awkward and can tell she finds it uncomfortable to walk on
This is a great park. The enclosed area for dogs has small stones as the ground cover, which some pups don't like. But otherwise it's a great location with lots of dogs for your dog to hang out with.
Convenient. Don't love the gravel, I find my dogs have a harder time running on it. And if it's busy it's very cramped because if the limited square space. But not the worse dog park in the city.
The small dog area is awesome after the renovation. The only issue is owners with really large dogs using it too because the larger dog section doesn't seem finished/gets really muddy...
Nice gravel surface with some shade - lots of playful canines with friendly owners. Parking was nearby - methinks it was just luck. The park is open and accessible 24-hours.
Good sized dog park with lots of nice local doggos. The surface was changed to pebbles and dogs don't like to run on it. Could be improved with a new surface put down.
It's allright. Can get a bit muddy and messy and it is a bit cramped. Dogs have fun and the people are chill. Nice area and i like the walk. Greenwood Park is great.
It's a good enough spot but the tiny stones that floor the area are pretty awful for the dogs and people alike. Hopefully the city addresses this sooner than later.
Love it. The dogs don't get dirty because it has pebbles instead of dirt so clean up of the doggies is easy and clean. It is a big space for them.to run around!
The pavement around the interior perimeter of the off-leash area is nice for keeping the dirt away and the stability is great for those with reduced mobility.
Even tho theres a sign that clearly states no professional dog walkers...there is 3-5 dog walkers that bring up to 7 dogs EACH DAILY 2 times a day. NOT OK
This is a great dog park. The community is very tightly knit and everyone watches out for each other. It's definitely not huge but it gets the job done.
Gravel in the dog park is not a great idea. Especially on a hot summer's day. Dogs paws can be hurt from the heated gravel stones. No too much thought.
Great place for your dog. Has two dog parks in one. One for large dogs and one for small dogs under 20 lbs.
Dog-friendliness
It's a dog park!!
Playground near by, soccer field, a great park overall for the family. We are here several times a week. Lots of big dogs and dog walker groups.
nice size but the ground is covered in rocks (instead of woodchips or grass like other dog parks) which my dog seems to hate - dont blame her.
Not a fan of the rocky/gravely ground. Much prefer a grassy or wood-chipped dog park. My dog hates running on the pebbles here.
Great place to walk your dog, tons of room. Great area and if you want to walk your dog in the sumer you should walk it here!
Gravel dog park, frequented by large groups of dogs with professional walkers, loved by my dog, not ideal for small ones !
Enclosed dog area isn't great. Lots of dogs refuse to run on the gravel. Otherwise, there are a lot of amenities here.
Poor renovation. Bad use of space that blocks off trees for no reason, really bad drainage means very soft wet ground.
Check out Shubie Park in Dartmouth Nova Scotia to see what a dog park should be like. Please go ahead and Google it.
Superb dog park where you don't need to worry about your dog getting dirty or dusty. I just wished I lived closer!
Very nice park, fenced in dog area is all rocks though so you have to make sure your pup doesn't eat them.
Too many dog walkers! They're allowed 6dogs at a time clearly not being able to watch them all at once.
The best dog park in leslieville/beaches area. Amazing dogs and owners. Very clean. Very respectful.
My new favourite dog park because there is absolutely no mud! It’s all pebbles so we go home clean!
Good little dog park, not our favorite as the dog really doesn't like only pebbles and no grass!
Love this dog park. All smooth stones on the ground so it's well drained and no dust flying up.
Really smooth skating surface and not many people on weeknights. And best of all it is free.
There pea gravel is hard on the dogs paws. It's close and big. Good people around as well.
Good size. Nice water pump for dogs. I like the artificial turf. The hill is cool too!
Gravel play area, some shade, water. Seems like there are always lots of dogs.
Can get a bit too crowded, looking forward to when the whole park is open
I love the dedicated area for small dogs 20 lbs and under!! Thank you!
No shelter from rain or sun; pea gravel surface hurts dogs paws
Never been there. So can't say anything. But park looks nice :)
Pretty good dog park, my pup likes socializing here
Big space. Dogs don't like pea gravel so much.
Love the new design for our pups!
