My daughter joined this gym a couple years ago and the person made a slip and said it was $35.95 a month, then once the contract was signed, my daughter was getting automatic withdrawals on her account for $39. bi-weekly. We were fine with that although it was a huge 'mistake' or intentional on the sales person's part. I believe it was intentional after all that has taken place since then. My daughter fell and dislocated her elbow and after months trying to get the account deferred, the gym finally agreed to "FREEZE" the account. There was a 1 year membership agreed to and now she is tied into it until December 24 2022. How is that freezing it for 1 year??? They make absolutely no sense at all. I phoned today and spoke to Sydney, and told her my name when I called. She insisted on calling me MAM really rudely. She kept snapping at me and all I did was ask her how they calculated this as my calculations for $39 for 1 year payments come to $936 and she is telling me that a 1 year payment with a discount for the year would be $1150. I also asked her if she knew what deferred payment meant, and she snapped NO I don't MAM, you tell me! I said to her that it would mean that the contract for 1 year would be the same, less the months that she had already paid, which were approximately 4 months, so it wouldn't even be 1 year and she kept yelling at me. I asked if I could say something or speak to a manager or have the manager's name and number and she yelled NO you can't and slammed the phone in my ear. This girl really needs to go to a 'customer service' course . Her mother clearly has not taught her how to have respect for anyone. I was being calm and courteous, and she was extremely rude.

They also don’t clean the equipment it is nasty (side note) the trainers I’ve encountered are kind enough but sort of awkward to be honest, in this case, I think social skills are imperative when working one on one with people. Also I’m one case my trainer didn’t seem to really know what she was doing and was more preoccupied with very obviously looking at herself in the mirror. Client service needs to be first priority somewhere where people are paying a monthly or yearly fee to attend, the staff should be friendly, courteous, professional and make this place a welcoming place for ladies who want to become healthier and get better in life in all aspects. Working out is such a positive thing, and women that join an all women’s gym obviously have some sort of anxiety or fear of attending a regular gym, this should not be exasperated by cattiness and a toxic environment for all.

I used to love to go here. The location and hours worked well for me. Communication was understandably spotty at the beginning of the pandemic but I at least got things sorted out. I believed in the company enough that I paid my dues while the gyms were shut down at the beginning of the pandemic. I've been trying to talk to someone about using that credit for virtual personal training over the past six months and I finally got a hold of someone today and have been given options. The options given don't work for me right now and I decided the best thing to do was cancel my membership so I don't have to continue to try and get a hold of people again. My $280 credit on my account? Apparently that stays on the account. I can either pay to continue to have my account frozen and deal with trying to get a hold of someone again, or cancel and forfeit my money, or cancel and HAVE to go back and sign up with their gyms again in order to use my credit. Honestly, if the communication had been any good at all in the last six months I would have just used up the credit, but at this point I really don't want to have to try and get in contact wit someone again when my credit's done, and I don't want to go over my credit. It sure makes me feel great about my decision to support them. I haven't decided which route to go yet but I wanted to encourage anyone with credit to make sure they get it sorted out now.

This gym should get 0 stars based on the way they treat their customers. My wife cancelled her contract bec of personal reasons they were very quick to charge 103 dollars for cancelling, and after the process was complete we specifically asked whether they would still be charging anymore money from power banking account and we were told ofcourse not so right after 2 weeks later guess what they deduct 47 dollars from our account and when we went back in to talk to the manager about the issue their reason was that my wife had used up more of the personal training reasons then what they though hence the word thought so when asked why we weren't made aware of that in the beginning their reason was because the manager who cancelled the contract forgot to tell us that, how unprofessional right? Second of all their was a verbal agreement between my wife and her personal trainer on how to use the 24 training sessions that shes signed up for but she was never made aware of any payments that would be made if she makes an early cancellation and it's not stated anywhere in their contract. All an all this place is a scam beware of fraud and take your precautions. They took advantage of my wife bec shes new to the country and that's very unfair and unprofessionalssional of them we hope this doesnt occur to anyone else.

I have never posted a review before, but felt inclined to for this gym. I am BEYOND frustrated at the amount of times I've had to call them to confirm my membership cancellation. My contract expired over 6 months ago, and so technically I am free to cancel at any time. It has now been over two months now since I requested a cancellation, and they still continue to charge me. This is the FOURTH TIME I have had to call them or visit the location to tell them to please CANCEL. MY. MEMBERSHIP. I am seriously considering changing my banking information from how frustrated I am at having to call back and forth between the Westbrook location and their headquarters for the same issue. It shouldn't be this difficult to cancel a membership!!!! So beware of charges to your account even after you "cancel" your membership! Only gave it a two star because I genuinely enjoyed the classes while I had my membership.

While the gym could be a lot cleaner (the equipment in particular) the gym itself is fine. This review is about their policy and sales process. In the sign up process, I made it very (VERY!) clear that I was unsure of how long I would be living in Calgary and that I would not join if I was unable to cancel at anytime *without* penalty. My sales person assured me that this would be fine given the circumstances, so believing her, I signed up. As expected, approximately 9 months after signing up, I moved and have been unable to cancel and penalized heavily. When attempting to discuss this with the gym personnel, I was informed that there is no way my sales person agreed to this and they would do nothing for me. I do find it shocking that businesses still operate in this way. There is no way I was unclear at my initial visit about my needs, I was absolutely lied to by the sales person.

I’m basically just using this space as a gym to do my own thing since it’s a short walk from my house, but: 1. Sales staff (thats right ‘sales’ would even call them trainers...) are rude, pushy and disseptive with membership info 2. They call you non stop to set up gym tours, free training sessions etc. that are ‘part’ of your membership, but never have any flexibility in their schedules. I came in for one just to test it out and was 5min late. The girl was super rude to me and didn’t even show me any of the equipment BIGEST waste of time, I felt so direspected. 3. Not enought squat racks or cable machines. Great if you just wanna cardio all day and not lose weight. 4. The trainers just sit around and talk and while watching the training session don’t even show people how to properly exercise and most don’t seem very fit/ I wouldnt trust their experience.

0/5 stars. DO NOT REGISTER WITH HERGYMVMT IN GENERAL. I had my account froze because of the pandemic. 1 week prior to unfreezing my account, one of the managers, Andrew, in their MacLeod location contacted me. I wanted to cancel my membership because of the pandemic. Instead, he didn't respond even after I followed up with him. Due to this, I am paying for the price. Not only was I charged for the cancellation fee of $103.95 ($99 + GST) BUT ALSO a 30 days notice fee of $54.50 (2 payments of your biweekly charge). I told one of their Payment Services Advisor, Krista Noble, that I no longer live in Calgary because of the pandemic and I do not have any employment because of the pandemic. Instead of being lenient with my situation, they just keep charging me ALL BECAUSE ANDREW DECIDED TO NOT RESPOND TO MY CANCELLATION REQUEST. WHAT. A. RIP. OFF.

The facility is good, nice equipment and helpful trainers. Ladies at the front desk are always lovely and willing to answer any questions. They lose 2 stars because of the spa kids. When I signed up they explained that it is a 'sign up before you come' sort of childcare. I told the girl I was signing up with that my workouts are usually last minute decisions so this might not be the right gym for me to sign up at and she assured me that it would likely never be and issue. But the last three times I have tried to come with my 9 month old they haven't been able to accommodate me. So I am paying for a membership for a year and will only be able to go once a month or so. Really wish the girl who signed me up had just been honest or maybe better informed about how busy the childcare gets on the mornings I said I'd be able to make.

I recently got a deal to "come back" at a discount. Nobody checked in with me. I paid the sign up and my first two weeks. Finally went in today but the vibe has changed. It used to be very friendly. I saw only two women sanitize equipment after use and one employee wandering around cleaning. Nobody checked on me, I was supposed to get a one on one and a group training session. The equipment has changed so I didn't feel comfortable using the machines. I did what I could with kettle bell, leg press, medicine ball and rower. Overall, it was disappointing. I wasn't told that I couldn't go to any other gymvt with this offer or attend any of the group classes. They don't print the schedule anymore and nobody talked to me about using the app, which is rated very poorly. it is likely that I will quit and go somewhere else.

As a new member I can say that I am really disappointed with the service I have gotten. The girl who signed me up lied about their hours. (She said they usually closed at 11. I was there at 6 pm on a Saturday and the front desk girl rudely told me that they were closing. So I went to get my bag from the locker room and she shut the lights off while I was in there. I am terrified of the dark and I yelled I am in here! But got no answer. I managed to find my phone and got out of there. As I was walking out the front door the 2 girls at the desk laughed at me. The staff at the desk is always unfriendly, they don't know how to greet? The bathrooms smell real bad and simply don't look like they get cleaned properly often. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I wish I would of read these reviews before I signed up

If it is possible to give negative stars, I would have done this. As soon as I got an email that the gym will soon open, I sent an email back to the office that they should suspend my account that I won’t be able to visit gym (I am 8months pregnant and I am always tired). Lo and behold this company keeps taking money from my credit card every 2 weeks. I even spoke with with their general manager Ute K, to please look into it, she was talking about taking money from my account to freeze my membership. I told her the money they have deducted from my account is enough to freeze the membership. Obviously she didn’t do anything about it, and they still keep deducting money from my account. Please run away from this company, they don’t care about their customer, all they just want is your money.”

I have been with Spa Lady for a few years now and I have always enjoyed the gym personally. It's a bit small, but with the renovations they have made recently it has really opened the space up and made it more inviting. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the trainers are great. They are always working so hard with their clients. If you are looking into getting a trainer, I highly recommend Julie! She is awesome and super helpful. She will definitely help you to reach your goals. My only complaint is because it is a bit smaller when you go during peek time it can get crowded, so maybe try to go off peek time if able. However, with that said you will find that with most gyms you attend. Overall I love it and recommend you give Spa Lady a try.

I am obsessed with this gym! I have never felt like such a part of a gym before. All of the staff go out of their way to get to know you and make you feel welcome upon arrival. I love the long hours they are open and as well as how affordable their group training is. I purchased 24 group training sessions and it has escalated my fitness experience tremendously. I HIGHLY recommend personal trainer Fatema. She is a physiotherapist as well as a personal trainer, making her highly knowledge. She is very structured and intentional with the set up of our workouts and she is the perfect balance between encouraging and challenging. Trust me, if you’re going to do group training or personal training, choose Fatema.

Gym is great. Staff is great. The woman who works in the daycare in the morning has terrible customer service skills and even worse telephone manners. She seems irritated that I am even dropping my daughter off and I see her sitting on her phone 99% of the time, not interacting or watching children. I've started driving the extra 20 minutes to the canyon meadows location because I do not feel comfortable leaving my daughter there anymore. The ladies at the canyon meadows are AWESOME, they do crafts with the kids, are super friendly and always greet my daughter with a big smile. Always making us feel so welcome. I would strongly conaider retraining the individual at the Westbrook location

There should be an option of 0 stars, they don't deserve even one star. I used to enjoy going to the Westbrook Gymvmt, and I kept paying my monthly dues when the gyms were shut down during the first wave of the pandemic. At this time I am seriously considering switching gyms due to their poor customer service and unprofessional behavior. Substitute yoga instructors were a no show two times in less than a month Aug 1st and Aug 17th), and there is no apology or even an explanation from the management. All they care about is collecting monthly dues, and if this is an indication of how the new management is running the business, they will be loosing a lot of previously loyal clients.

I’ve been training with Fiona Kelly for a few months now, and believe she is one of the most experienced & committed trainers around. Fiona is focused on helping me achieve my goals and makes every session challenging (& somehow fun). My fitness has increased noticeably and I’ve seen improvements in my ability to complete more sit ups / core exercises, lift progressively heavier weights & generally push myself harder throughout each session. I find I actually look forward to my workouts. Fiona really cares about helping me reach my goals. Since I started working out with her I feel much better about myself. I have lost weight and inches and am much stronger.

Tristina Q was very difficult to have a conversation with, as having an open mind and understanding a person's different abilities or limitations is something she doesn't have time for. Being in the mental health field, I would certainly not recommend this gym to any clients and their families based on this. Rude, insensitive and very hurtful is all I can say about my client and my experience here. I then called and asked to speak with the manager. I was told that I could speak with Helen (I believe Helen was the name). The lady at the front desk stated that she would call me back and over 3 weeks later my call has yet to be returned.

VERY VERY disappointed with the Spa Kidz hours!!! Fridays and Saturdays are only open till 12 and 1 pm and Sundays are closed!! Not too mention M-T they are closed from 1-5! This makes it EXTREMELY hard to work out when the only time I can bring my kids and work out is basically during lunch and supper hours and go to bed late, so either my kids get very late or super early meals, or I have to work out really early and they miss breakfast (depending when they wake up). Why isn't Spa Kidz hours ALL day Mon TO Sat and why not open on Sunday? Probably going to switch gyms because of this, and I've been going to Spa Lady for years!

Love working out at this club! Front staff are always friendly and courteous. I find that the rates are very reasonable, especially considering the numerous group classes that are available – Zumba, 3-2-1, yoga and tons more. I recently started personal training group sessions with Kelly, who is fantastic. Every workout is different and challenging, but Kelly makes them fun, and our 45 minute sessions just fly by. I would also like to mention that Helen, the manager, was very professional and thoroughly explained my options with no pressure to sign up, when I initially inquired about joining.

Staff are nice here, but they do not have security cameras at least in their entrance. Someone broke my lock in the locker, stole my bag, wallet & car on January 22, 2020 in the evening. I hope their management would take action and that they would install security cameras as soon as possible for everyone's safety. The thief was identified per the Management, but the Police told me the video is not clear. The video was actually from Sportchek, not from this gym! There should be at least a CCTV Camera in their Entrance. I will never ever go back to this facility. IT'S NOT SAFE FOR EVERYONE!

The staff are all friendly and awesome, great variety of classes and training sessions, relatively affordable comparatively. Sometimes parking and machine availability gets a bit dicey at busy times but for the most part everything is available and awesome. The gym is a bit small so often machines have lineups. Also it’s not as nice in general as the other locations. The free weights are always disorganized. A lot of elliptical machines are broken and never get fixed fully. Also there’s a gross smell in the bathrooms; change rooms are basic and not nearly as nice as other locations.

Unfortunately I had the same experience as many others that have posted here. The membership is great, until you wish to cancel. Then staff provide a misleading message about cancelling and cancellation doesn't happen. I was charged for 8 months past my expressed cancellation time. Cancelling seems impossible, and staff seem coached into not letting you cancel properly. I had planned on returning to the gym but now will not because of the level of dishonesty and sneaky business practice - and unwillingness for head to office to provide good customer service

It's unfortunate that it seems many people have had a bad experience here, I never have! I have never tried to cancel my membership though, and that seems to be the issue most people are having. As a review for the actual gym, it's great! This location is definitely smaller than the other locations (eg. Canyon Meadows) but I don't think it gets nearly as busy so it's okay. I can always find a machine to use, and the locker rooms/shower rooms are really nice and clean. Definitely recommend this gym if you're a woman who is wanting to work out!

Nothing but a sales grab. The trainers will do anything to meet their session quotas for the month and the management are deceitful upon sign up. They make it seem as though you are receiving a great deal, but end up paying an arm and a leg anyway in the long run. The floor is over run with training sessions and the trainers make you feel bad for getting in their way. It's not a peaceful place to workout as the staff is quite catty with gossip. Anyone I know who have also worked out at this facility would say the same thing. Do not go here!

The biggest mistake anyone can make to sign up with this organization and you would have succeeded in given them a life time of continuous financial deduction from your account. Months after our account has been cancelled and SPA being paid off, they still claimed that our account is still active and that we need another month notice for full cancellation. It is interesting that the only positive reviewer on this forum could not do so in his/her name ('a Google user') and I won't be surprise if it turns out to be someone working SPA.

This location is conveniently located for me but that would not be my only deciding factor to frequent this facility. I find the staff that I have encountered to be friendly and helpful. I enjoy my training sessions with Kelly immensely. She has assembled a great group of ladies to work out with and we have a lot of giggles. It isn't all fun and games however, as our training sessions are challenging and rewarding. She designs our workouts around our capabilities, our goals and with our input. She keeps me motivated.

Not professional and not honest about charges and policies, their return policy is just a part of their fake marketing tricks, they told me August is free but 50 dollars I paid was covering my membership only from Aug 14 until Aug 27, I thought they were for the first 15 days of Sep. When I discussed it with them I I wanted to cancel my membership after two days from signing up they refused to return my money knowing that I didn't step a foot in the gym. I don't recommend this place to anyone

I did enjoy this gym while I went there, however I moved and cancelled my membership almost a year ago. I was told I couldn’t do it over the phone so I went into to see someone. The payments stopped and then today they started to come back out of my bank. When I called about it they could see no record of the cancellation and now I have to send an email to cancel? Be warned about the cancelling of this membership and ask for copies of everything and hold on to them for years to come.

It is true what many reviews say. I signed up for 1 year and told them I would no longer be using the facilities after my 1 year is over and I want to make sure I'm not charged after. They tried very hard to charge me $100 to cancel even though I signed on only for the year. They then got me to sign a piece of paper and said it would be done. Guess what! I was changed again today. Extremely poor membership services. How can a gym be so poor at understanding people's needs to cancel??

Amazing staff and location! Ling helped me and my mom with signing up and showing us around. She was very informative, extremely helpful, welcoming and provided excellent customer service! She also went above and beyond by researching about my mom's back issues and figuring out the ideal stretches and exercizes to help her out! Best experience we've ever had at a gym! The gym itself is a women's only location as well and the vibe is great! 100% would recommend!! Thank you Ling!!

I’ve been going to this facility since it was SpaLady, and I’ve seen it through its transition into HER GYMVMT. The staff here is always so friendly and helpful, the equipment has been seriously updated since its transition, and the classes are the best I’ve ever attended. Of all the gyms I’ve ever been a part of, I find I get the most bang for my buck here! The classes alone are worth the price of admission, over and above the state of the art equipment offered. Would recommend.

I've been a member of spa lady and now gymvnt for about 20 yrs. I'm currently moving to the SW and the closest gym is Westbrook. Transcanada has been my go to and I think the most superior location in the city. I really wish they would do something or move to a bigger location in the area, as I don't think it's worth paying a membership for this location. If you really don't care about a lot of equipment choices and waiting for equipment to open then this location is for you.

The policy of this gym is very rigid and incovenient. They tell you when you sign the membership that you will not be charged during your trips. However, they will continue to withdraw from your charges until you return and then give you a credit (a period without paying), not having your money back! This was not clear. Also, the processing time for these requests is really slow. They try to make things really easy and flexible to sign while the policy is very incovenient.

Don’t believe what they say! They would say anything to make you sign up. I work late so I asked them before I sign up if it’s ok if I am late to classes, they said sure. Then after I signed up, they cane up with a new policy. If you’re one min late to classes you cannot attend the class and if you don’t cancel 3 hours before the class begins and don’t show up they charge you. Gym is supposed to be fun. It’s not supposed to add more stress to people’s lives!!!!

i love working out at this gym i always feel so safe and comfortable. staff is so nice and willing to help always. it’s never super busy except around peak times 4-6 but even then you can still get what you need if you wait a bit. all the ladies at the front and PT are so sweet and supportive. I’ve tried other gyms and this is by far the best one i’ve had just in comfort level. one more leg press and smith machine would be nice but it’s definitely worth it.

Before buying a membership, I was worried by the number of bad reviews I read about SpaLady. Now it's the fifth month since my first visit. I attend group classes at SpaLady Westbrook, and I would like to thank the awesome instructors Kavita, Michelle, Sarah, Becky, Jacqui. These girls are working hard together with you, keep you motivated, encouraging, and helping you. Their classes are always fun and an excellent work-out. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Not very interested in accommodating a local resident. I live close to the gym. Had been into the facility once for a visit. No one mentioned that I was eligible for a pass to test out the facility. Went back today, for a second look ,when I asked for a pass to test out the facility they said I was not eligible. Later the manager said I could work out today , no other option , I not able to do this. I will find a gym more interested in taking a new member.

Very friendly staff at the front desk, in the child mind area, and within the trainers of the facility. The gym is clean, well kept, and clearly has pride of ownership. I am only visiting Calgary for a while and am very glad I came across this centre. Everything an avid gym goer would need including heavy weights, cardio, and classes. They remembered me and I noticed them remembering other members as well. Would recommend for sure.

This gym is amazing all the staffs are very friendly . My daughter goes to spa kids program and she loves going there ! Once a week i do the group training with julie and she is amazing not only she changed my body but she encourages me and teaches me great exercises that i can have fun ! This club is very well organized and there are alot of classes for every level. I would highly recommend this place .

I LOVE LOVE LOVE thos gym. I have lost 25 lbs due to these amazing ladies. Please do not close this gym, and please do not change this staff. Because they are absolutely amazing, fantastic, and they motivate you. They are the reason that I come to this gym. I have finally gained my self-confidence back and for me. Dealing with kidney disease. This is such a godsend for me to come to this gym.

Do NOT sign up the contract. I signed up for one year membership and 24 personal training. I moved to Vancouver at the end of june and as of today I only used 12 sessions of my contract. but still they want me to pay out for all 24 session and wont cancel my membership until my personal training is paid out. Why would I pay for something I can't use? such money suckers!!!

Recently joined back (from Spa Lady) and I can’t rave enough about this gym! All of the staff are wonderful and the classes in particular are run smoothly. The facility is super clean and includes new turf. Circuits are well labelled and easy to navigate. Comfortable, female only environment. Would recommend for any woman looking to join a clean and safe gym.

Great gym super clean, the class and instructors are amazing and accommodating. I also love their trans canada mall location 52nd street NE they have sauna it feels good after workout . The front desk staff at westbrook mall named emily was very helpful and friendly when i signed up for membership, I would definitely recommend this GYMVMT to my friends.

horrible experience here. company only cares about scamming members into undisclosed extra fees. was told by staff if I wanted to cancel in the first week i would receive a 100% refund. that was not the case and was lied to because this gym only cares about money. they have the most absurd cancellation policy and the hours of operation are awful.

Love the gym, has a nice mix of people there and I never feel judged there. They create a safe workout space. I miss my old personal trainer, but the current ones are friendly and approachable still. I only wish they had more Barre classes and maybe earlier morning classes especially on weekends (8:30-9:30am class would be SO awesome)

I actually love this gym, been using Goodlife for years and decided to change it up. I feel much more comfortable working out here. It's not very busy when I get there around 6 and the free weights is usually empty. Cardio machines are always busy. I just wish this location had a sauna like Beacon does. Other than that it's great.

I signed up for spa lady telling them that I would be leaving by the end of the summer so I will need to cancel. The employee told me that was fine and I could cancel any time. Well here I am cancelling paying a fee because she signed me up for a 12 month gym membership when I specifically told her I was leaving in three months.

She prepares individualized or in-group sessions in advance including every exercise that gives you more than your money's worth. What makes her a valuable trainer is "her ability to make sessions fun and memorable for clients."

I was very impressed with how clean and nice everything is at that location. The administrators just start wiping everything over and over again, if they are not busy with the customers. Those girls were never idle! It's a very very nice location (I just went there once while my gym was under emergency repairs).

I called to ask about rates and they gave me the run around insisting that I come in and make an appointment. I found it so weird that they couldn't even give me a ballpark for the monthly fees even though I asked repeatedly and stated she was turning me off from joining that gym.

Gave it a 2 because staff was super nice and helpful. But the gym is poorly set up equipment wise. Alot of small dumbbells which is great but only one cable machine and one squat rack. So if you dont mind waiting for machines for 20 mins. It just wasnt suited towards my workouts.

Very rude staff. Not sure why the front desk ladies are always so rude. I never get a hi/hello when I walk in, just a snappy “wait a minute” when I go to scan my card. I always feel like I’m interrupting there gossip session with their coworker... makes me very uncomfortable.
