I got a great service today by phone and in person which is very rare. I like this library but I don't approve of their charges with fines, audio books and dvds which is very expensive compare to libraries in other boroughs. Those in charge do not consider the effects this charges have on the community. Most people are recovering from the lockdown stress, struggles and in their finances. I believe that audio books should be free just like a book and charges suspended until next year 2022 and brought down in price too for the benefit of everyone. This will encourage more people to visit and use the libraries.
I felt like the librarian was incredibly sceptical when I said I wanted to join, but when she saw me come back and complete the registration process she seemed pleased. Since then she’s been so warm and friendly. I wanted a book ordered and it was done straight away and I didn’t have to wait long. Smells a bit strange in there is my only criticism, but it’s not a big deal.
I love their daily 20p booksale. While most are chunky/pointless biographies and romance novels, occasionally you do pick up a few decent/interesting volumes. Some of the older ones among these retired books belonged to libraries of other, now-defunct boroughs (Stepney, Poplar, St Pancras, Bermondsey etc) and I find them oddly fascinating.
If you need a place for quiet cowork without feeling pressure from cafes or expensive coworkings, this is the place for you! And free. Loved it, everything I needed. Plus a great selection of books and everything. Want to come back here every time
Friendly staff. Small study area with few options to charge your laptop on 1st floor. Quiet. Reliable Wifi (use not limited in time - password changes everyday). I could take my coffee with me. (Stinky) toilets in the basement. Closed on Sundays.
A quiet place to work. Plenty of desks, but only some (all upstairs) have power sockets. WiFi is reliable with ~10Mb/s download, using the "eduroam" network. A little dated inside. Haven't tried the book selection. Strict no food or drink policy.
Staff are really helpful. I like the 20p book sales and there is a great range of books to read. Decor needs updating though and the reservation machines were both broken last time I was there which wasn’t very helpful
Very little books - mostly thrillers and easy novels. Not much about English litteracy either for adults or children No more DVD nor CD Empty sad shelves The staff is very helpful though
It's a library in Holborn, generally quiet and well run. Good children's section. Can usually find a free computer terminal. Staff super helpful, public access computers.
Run down and obviously under funded. The staff seem demoralised and can't really be bothered. It's my local library but I've stopped using it... sad really.
You won't find a better library in Holborn. Also very useful for international visitors as there is free wifi and a bathroom if you get caught short!
Everything is good, but during warm summer days it gets hot and suffocating. I am not able to work in this library for this reason.
Helpful, polite staff. Could be a wider range of books, but altogether a pleasant experience. Thanks to all at Holborn.
Used the computer. Easy to navigate and people/saff helpful. Self- service for printing and again Easy to navigate
Great talk about Kentish Town tonight. Lobed the venue and exhibitions at the library. A wonderful discovery.
Helpful staff. Wide selection of non fiction. And, unusually for modern times, a quiet, peaceful atmosphere.
Good library. Free Wi-Fi. Toilet is available downstairs. Some tables have power sockets.
Il n’y a pas beaucoup de livre pour se divertir mais endroit calme pour travailler
The gentleman who served me was very accommodating and helped me with everything.
An alright library other than it being strict on a no food or drinks policy
Pleasant space, peaceful, friendly staff, and good selection of books.
Nice library with good selection of stock in many languages
Large expansive library with good selection of books …
Helpful staff and a nice quiet place to get some work done.
