"A fun little museum! Free to get in, but donations are welcome, and we had the great opportunity to have our visit guided by a 92 year old who was a thirty year veteran of the Indy Fire Dept! It was a very interesting touch to hear the history of the department from someone who had lived through so much of it! Definitely a place to stop by and spend some time while you stroll Mass Ave!

"The newly renovated IFD Museum is a really cool place to visit"
C.A.F.E. Had a funraiser in the event hall and this is my second year attending and also the second year for the event. Community Action for the Far Eastside. Is a place for residents to recieve help. These needs are met in many areas. Funds to help residents. Are low and I maybe preaching to the choir, but I know they have people in the City of Indianapolis. Who are able to help others. Funding is being cut and we have more people living in the street. Why does that seam okay? We all know and I know that helping means I will get burned by someone who is a user. Yes I sure have but I do not stop helping. Good people fall sometimes and those are the ones. That we all need to be there for. Michael Howe is the CEO and a great guy. Please donate to a good cause. It is appreciated.
Our 3 boys ( ages 5, 5 and 2) and I went here after visiting the Police Museum. We only stayed for 10mins because they were popped! While we were at the Fire Fighters Museum they enjoyed seeing the model fire engines in each exhibit and learning from the Admin. Our 2yr old was a little frightened by the mannequin with the gas mask on. They walked away with plastic fire hats and fire fighter coloring books with safety content. We will return. P.S. This museum tailors to looking only. No touching...I had to have this talk with our guys before entering.

It was free to enter and walk around. It had a lot of apparatus that firefighters use. It was even interesting that a person was playing bagpipes over there. I feel like there's more history there and I could really enjoy. It kind of has more of a feel of being a memorial so I had an appreciation for it. We definitely be a good educational moment for people
The newly renovated IFD Museum is a really cool place to visit. TONS of fire fighting history 'stuff' (i.e. equipment, rigs, photos, displays, etc) in a 100+ year old firestation! The antique fire truck is really something to see as well. Great place to spend an afternoon. Appropriate for all ages. The Fallen Firefighter Memorial is neat to visit as well.
This is a great opportunity for others to see history. My cousin and I enjoyed our time in the time spent at the museum. We recently attended the Reading of the Names -85th Year on October 2nd, 2019. I would recommend if you have time to stop by for a visit. Lots of items to take a look at. Please take your time to enjoy the history here.
Fantastic! Had a great time with my son's class. Everyone was really nice and kept all the kids engaged! I was amazed to see how nice their facilities were. There was fake smoke, a heated door to simulate a fire in the house. The whole 9 yards. I highly recommend it to everyone as a fantastic field trip!
A nice museum. Well maintained. The parking situation along Massachusetts avenue is difficult. I couldn't get the parking kiosk to work and was going to park there anyway. The museum office manager warned me to not do that and allowed me to park in the lot which was reserved for the fire department.
A very nice place! You should go visit when you have time. Great for kids and great for adults. The Firefighters there were very helpful, and made our visit extra special.

This is a free museum on the ground floor - left side of the elevator. I was a little confused because there wasn’t a reception or place to get a ticket, but this is a small walk in museum dedicated to the firefighters of Indy. Totally recommend visiting if you’re in Mass Ave!
What a great little museum! No entry fee, though donations are welcome. Two big old fire trucks, lots of great little details. Worth a quick stop!

The museum is a trove of information and the lovely retired firefighter who was gracious enough to give us a tour was knowledgeable as well as a great story teller. I have unfortunately forgotten his name, but I am so grateful for the experience.
Had The Distinct Pleasure Of Get'n 2 Visit This Beautiful Bldg During INDYFringe Festival 17 - 27 Aug 2017 (If U Get The Opportunity In The Future 2 Attend That Multi-Faceted Venue &/Or Visit The IFFM...Plz Don't Pass It Up!!!
This is a small but quality fire fighting museum. Many different aspects from trucks, hoses, pumps, nozzles, pictures, badges and toys. It is also an Indy museum as all memorabilia is from Indy stations.
Took my girlfriend here for our 3 month anniversary. I liked the fire trucks but she kept getting scared by the fake life size fireman. Otherwise great, admission is free so it’s a good date idea.
This is such a great place to learn about not only about fire services history but also about Indianapolis history. As an EMT it is humbling to see how all of the firefighters are honored.
Teachers were excellent. Showed fire safety, made it interesting for the kids, storm safety, and kitchen safety. All the teachers were very animated to keep the kids interest.
A great tribute to the Indianapolis Fire Fighters and the rich traditions of the Indianapolis Fire Department. I enjoyed the equipment and rigs in the old fire station.
Staff is extraordinarily friendly and love kids. Very educational presentation using all the senses for all ages. The museum is gorgeous and has fascinating artifacts
Great spot to celebrate a great friend

Awesome walk through history and the atmosphere with all my brothers and sisters from all over the world and bagpipers time of my life. Cannot wait till next year
I just got done painting it and it was one of the coolest jobs I've been on. Love all of the history and the historical points of the building itself
Great little museum with all kinds of fire history in a restored piece of Indianapolis Fire Dept history. A 100+ year old station.
This place was very helpful for the pride festival this year and opening up the museum to offer things for people at the parade
Great to see on the artifacts that they had from the 18th century. I respect men and women for keeping their community safe
Interesting and cool little firefighting museum with plenty to see and learn about. Give yourself about under an hour.
A wonderful showcase of the history lived by brave men and women who freely put their lives at risk to save others.
