I do have some significant bad experience at ICNM. I tried to be very regular in the masjid. Alhamdulillah. Brothers are very cordial & helpful. Alhamdulillah. But, one day I was waiting to pray magrib prayer, one new Muslim brother ( white American) was asking me, "what are you doing here? " I said, "I am doing PhD". After that, He asked me, "what is your plan after your PhD?" I said, " I have not decided yet. " Then he said, " so you are doing PhD so that you can go to middle east and do conspiracy with Muslims". I was shocked regarding his conversation. Because, I had a soft corner for him as he is a new Muslim and white. Then, he said, prophet Muhammad (pbuh) encourages to kill people. Then I got angry and I started arguing with him that "why don't you talk about kindness which Muhammad (SW) showed to people?? You are talking talking about murder, killing . What's going on!! Then, he was trying to argue with me about the killing of people. I left him and I was angry with him. After maghrib prayer, I was waiting to catch the bus as I didn't have car. He followed me and also waited to catch a bus. He followed me till my home. That's the bad experience I had at ICNM and I can say the detail in the court. In shaaAllah. After few days of this incident, another converted Muslim brother named tareq (who seems to be courageous and sometimes shout at the masjid) , assaulted with his hand. I didn't harm him. I didn't say anything wrong to him. Just after the above incident, he came to masjid on another day and was looking for me. Once he found me; he put his arm/ hand on my neck and I felt hard times to breathe. I couldn't understand anything. I came to tears . I think, my face turned into red / something; looking at the situation; he stopped assaulting me. Then , afterwards, he said; I know you are a good brother. I am still in trauma of those incidents and I find hard times to sleep at night. I feel, that white American newly converted Muslim who says he cuts grass of the masjid on Fridays; is nothing but a spy. He tried to trap me, followed me on everything and tried to assault me. My truthfulness can be confirmed by masjid camera. In shaaAllah. That's what is happening. I strongly felt that the white American newly converted man followed me, tried to trap me (with some sort of wrong quotation in Quran regarding killing/ murder) and also I got physically assaulted inside the masjid . AND, THIS IS THE TRUTH. You can check masjid camera and get my assaulted video there. In shaaAllah. JazakAllah khairan.

The building is nice, and there’s quite a bit of parking. However if you’re not the right skin color to blend in it seems to be pretty racial/judgmental. Definitely not the “family” vibe they talk about in there depending on that. I expected more. It’s sad it took you 4 years to reply to this and even then you’re just deflecting. Of course you would choose Ramadan when every masjid is at its fullest compared to the rest of the year to attempt to point out how many different people are there. Most people go there because options are limited in New Mexico. On top of that while people in the community/city are starving and homeless you’re attempting to get $250,000 from the community to spruce up the parking lot lol. I’m glad I was introduced to proper Muslims shortly after visiting your location or I may have went away from the path of Allah by the poor examples of leadership at ICNM. One more edit, a newer convert I know here was going to ICNM for Tajahood in the morning, they attempted to talk to the Imam 3 different times to introduce themselves and 3 times the Imam ignored and walked right past. Truly an embarrassment to Islam, nobody is held higher than another except in piety in Islam yet you let race be a factor. The leadership here shows a poor example of how Muslims should treat each other.

I can see the Mosque from my kitchen window. It is a very quiet and peaceful place. On one of their holy days there were groups of young woman going by our house. They were all laughing and talking and seemed so happy. They were dressed in bright, cheerful clothes. Their scarves were all in bright colors. I keep meaning to go by and see what it is like. I've known a lot of Muslims in Albuquerque. In fact, I almost married one. But we would have had to live in Saudi Arabia for 5 years. I knew I couldn't live like that for 5 years and he agreed. But he was one of the sweetest men I have ever known and he treated me as a complete equal. We used to go by the old Islamic Center and they were so nice. That's why I want to visit the new one. I have a lot of question and want to ask about learning Arabic. I know this is too long and off topic but it just came to me as I was writing. Once I start writing I can't stop...lol!

Very rude brothers. I was traveling and it was the 27th of Ramadan. The place emptied out after Asr and I was kicked out of the library so they could lock it up. I asked if anyone studied Islam at all and I was met with blank stares, anger and told to come back at Isha to talk to the Imam. All i wanted was to talk about our beautiful Deen and some company. Very sad state of affairs for Muslims in Albuquerque.

what a beautiful masjid here in Albuquerque. Unfortunately it wasn’t open (as are a lot of masjid in the US during the non prayer hours) but there was a contact number for those wanting the code to get inside. I had my prayer mat with me so prayed outside, which is what I usually do if a masjid is closed. Masid looked beautiful and had a lovely green dome. It was also opposite the university boulevard area.

It's important to have diversity in in town this because I'll buquerque and it's nice to see that we have an Islamic Center here as well as other means of religious and or spiritual worship other than that very very well-maintained place right off of Yale and if this is your thing go ahead and stop on by

Like heaven on earth. If you accept God as one lord Allah who has all the good names you are accepted. There is no difference between an Arab or else except in taqwah.
