Tucked behind the Manly Bowling Club and Oval, this heritage listed leafy oasis has a number of rare trees (e.g. the Wollemi Pine) and plants are a feature along with the original sandstone outcrops, meandering sculpted sandstone walkways, a small stream with a bridge and grassy terraces. The park sits on various gradients of a slopping sandstone hill, which gives it several different terraced levels that are ideal to view the park itself, Manly CBD and the ocean beyond. Originally privately owned, this 1.82 hectare parcel of land was bought by Manly council in the 1880s. An admission fee was charged and the proceeds went to the park’s maintenance. Between the early 1880s and the late 1890s, the Manly Wildflower Show, the first wildflower show in Australia, was held here and in 1951 a WWII memorial garden was added. Later, a scout hall was built in the gardens in 1973. More recently, Manly council set aside funds and drafted guidelines for the maintenance and management of this botanic garden in order to preserve its heritage listing.
Nice park close to manly beach to exercise, walk, jog, play rugby or practice football. I witnessed a coach giving physical training to a team, whereas 2 teams of kids were playing under a coach, so it is a playing area for all ages no matter what. Also there's a track for jogging or walking as well. So you can go for a morning or evening walk or jog here. If you want to access the Manly areas including Manly beach and Ivanhoe park, you can take bus B1 directly from the city.
Public toilets are atrocious, always broken, lights don't work and always leaking water, especially in the womens. Lift access for the disabled is always out of order making it impossible for anybody in a wheelchair to access the function room, toilets or dressing rooms. Broken glass is a constant in the grandstand. Only good thing is the ground itself, the groundskeepers obviously take pride in their work.
A beautiful, tranquil spot between the road and the bowling club. This park has an interesting history but this, as well as the flora, needs to be better signposted. It is a lovely respite spot, although it appears many locals use it to get from the lower areas/oval/shops up to their residences.
Enjoyable park with lots of lovely plants, trees and flowers. Could do with some better upkeep, although there was a sign suggesting an upgrade. It is quite hilly so beware if you have a problem with hills.
Love this place. Been here for over 100 years too with never any buildings on it. Always been a public park land. In parts of it you can almost get lost if you don’t know it enough.
I love this ground , i want to play in this ground but i didn’t got any chance but one of the cricket fan should be playing in this ground
An oasis in Manly. Very quiet place to escape the hustle and bustle. Perfect for intimate picnics, or to read a book surrounded my nature.

Beautiful multipurpose ground. Captures the afternoon sun in winter. Take yourself for PT or kick a ball around with the kids.
This is the beautiful natural view we see looking out from the Bistro area in the Manly Bowling Club, Diggers on the Park.
Clean and spacious local park, far enough away from the beach and the wharf so you can enjoy a quiet moment now and then.
