Very very disappointed won't be recommending this place too anyone in fact I'm now going to go out of my way to make other people don't make the mistake of giving this shop business. So too start I was changing my front sprocket on bike to a narrow wide I use my bike for all my transportation. This project came to a halt when I was missing my t27 torx too remove my old sprockets I was lucky to get the outer sprocket off but not the inner so I stuck with a hanging chaining and no tool too do the rest of the job, so I put the crank set in My backpack and walked with my bike 10km too J&J in the pouring rain, left the bike up front and went in. Too begin I wait a minute or two because the second employee didn't feel like serving anyone, the guy working actually had to get her attention and say "can you serve him" she comes up not looking pleased at all to be there. I said to her could you please help me take these 4 torque bolts and tighten on my new sprocket would have taken 5 minutes max and I'll put the rest together out front with my Allen keys. She tries to tell me it's gonna have to wait tell tomorrow and that doesn't work I have to get to work so I say maybe could I use your torque key right here at the counter and she walks away and says we don't lend tools.... I had to walk all way back home pushing my bike, that's not how you serve a biking community hope you guys think of hiring new employees or just go downhill I'll be bringing my bike elsewhere for now on... bought my own torques this afternoon and did it my self.
I just bought a very expensive bike from J&J. It was not their fault that it took 14months to arrive but it was negligent that they never called with any updates and it seemed we bothered them when we called to inquire about the bike's arrival. The bike finally came in last week. I picked it up on Easter wknd and it was busy in the store however, the sales person seemed uninterested in helping me and barely gave me 5min of his time. He then reluctantly booked a fitting for me and my bike 3days later. I showed up on time for this appointment while the sales person, who was suppose to work with me for the fitting, stayed busy with the only other customer in the store. This sales person never apologized for keeping me waiting or said that he would get to me anytime soon. My time is valuable and I felt completely disrespected. I was relieved to call Frontenac cycle after leaving J&J (I did not wait for the fitting) and have the reassurance that there is an excellent alternative Bike shop in this city who is more than willing to accommodate me and my bike (even though I bought it at J&J). I asked that the owner of J&J cycle call me so I could explain my concerns but he has not done so. So here is my review instead.
I am not a cyclist. I am however a grandfather. One of my duties as a grandfather is to give my granddaughter gifts that she does not need. I picked up an inexpensive little girl bike. The price was zero. It did, however, have a flat front tire. No problem, off to Canadian tire for a tube. How hard can it be? Hard. I did eventually get the tube in place but the stick and spoon and belt buckle that I used somehow shockingly punctured the tube. Shamed, I needed help from the professionals. I’m a Kingstonian, so of course I know J&J cycle. I know that they carry quality high-end bicycles. Would you, I asked on the phone, do a job as small as a 12 inch tube on a teeny tiny cheap bicycle? “ Come on in we’d be happy to help” was the answer. “ It will take me two minutes”. Although that was a bit hurtful (I had just told the gentleman that I had wrestled with the tire and tube for about three hours) I was grateful for the help. With some satisfaction, I noted that it took the gentleman three minutes. It must’ve been the tools because I am sure that I am very mechanically inclined. As I said, I am not a cyclist, but oh my God are there some nice bikes in that place.
Thank you, Sheila, Dave, and Mike, for your exemplary service during these difficult COVID 19 times. Having moved back to Kingston I brought my Fuji SST road bike in (not having bought it from them) for a tune up noting that the front wheel was out of balance and also that the bike was skipping gears and they charged me a nominal amount to correct the issues. Mike took the time to explain what the issues were and what was done to correct them. He listened to my concerns and explained to me what I needed to know. I was also experiencing pain in my wrists and inquired if I could arrange for a bike fitting as It had been at least 6 years since my last fitting and unfortunately as you age things change! Sheila offered me some dates to accommodate my schedule and took the time to diagnose the issues in my body fit and made several adjustments to the bike to adapt to my riding style. What really impressed me was Sheila’s diligence and follow up call to see how the bike fitting went. I went out for a 40 km bike ride and my issues were resolved. I would highly recommend J&J Cycle and their staff if you are looking for personalised service and attention to detail.
J&J Cycle was outstanding to work with. From the initial first phone call, all the way to the bike pick-up and recent follow-up communications. The whole team who I interacted with was welcoming, kind, knowledgeable, and responsive. I felt at home and well-cared for. Upon pick-up of my new ride, Darryl was my primary point of contact. He ensured my fork and shock were set up accordingly, provided some great insight to some local trail options, and outlined the process to further receiving service for the bike. What really stood out in all of my communications what the ability to make me feel welcome, heard, and also mutual excitement! Upon bike pick-up I genuinely felt like the team was also excited for the new ride as much as I was. Darryl also assisted with loading the bike onto the rack and that it was prepped from coming home. I wish this bike shop was closer to home because I would, without hesitation, make this spot my go-to shop. I am excited to return and I already know the bike will be in good service hands. Maybe get a chance to scope out some local trail systems...and food! Thanks J&J for making this experience and awesome one. Happy Riding :)
Huh, JnJ was not listed as a place I visited. Come ON Google Maps!! I have had a used Bianchi Road Bike for about 12 years. Although people had suggested that I have it fitted, I had never managed to do it. I was thinking that it would not make much difference. Big Mistake. Yesterday, I had an appointment with John. Wow, what a difference. John was SUPER helpful. Turned out, my handle bars and the saddle were too low. Now the bike is WAY more comfortable. There are two version of fitting: The cheaper one is technically a Sizing. The more expensive, a Fitting. I chose the cheaper. John was patient and took his time. For some of the work, I was going to have to leave it there. As I had a ride the next day, I took it in after. During the 30 km ride, I noticed that the handle bars were not quite right. When I took it back, John fixed that, raised the brake levers a bit and changed the tape. Great experience. My body is very happy, but displeased that it took me 12 years to get around to it. I HIGHLY recommend at least a sizing. Total cost with time, parts and taxes was about $200. Well worth it
I try to support local shops. I went to this store to purchase several items for the first time. The person helping me left me to do other tasks 3 times in a period of 10 minutes with a pretty quiet store(eventually a senior employee/owner helped me). One of the items I purchased was a bike glove. On my first ride, the gel from the glove came out, clearly a defect in the workmanship. They would not take the item back or exchange( I just wanted a new glove to ride w so all I was asking for was to exchange for a non defective glove) and instead the store offered to send it in to the company and wait to see if they would fix it. Unfortunately this makes it much less attractive to shop locally as you pay more but expect better service than online. Here I felt I am paying more to make 3 trips to a store, wait and be ignored, and then even after something is clearly defective there is no exchange or refund. Sorry but I’m back to shopping online. On another note, The owner or senior person at the store was quite helpful on my first visit but perhaps the employees need better training.
I bought my first road bike from here. I did walk in and it was a bit busy there that day, but I felt that one of the people working there was quite rude towards me, considering that I dropped well over a thousand dollars at once. A really good friend of mine stopped going there because he had a similar experience (even after giving them his repeated business for years). I also felt like they really pushed only a single model on me, rather than letting me ride around on a couple to let me get a feel for them (which I learned is how it should be done). I also have had problems with both of the tires that came with my bike; I was told by another shop that it was a defect. The store swapped out the first one, but the second one happened over a year later (exact same thing), but apparently it will take 2 weeks to see if it can be warrantied. All in all, it's a good place to get a bike, but my impression is that there are far friendlier places in town with better (and more professional) customer service if you're looking for a bike.
I cannot say enough about this shop. Everytime I go in it turns into a chit chat about the cycling scene, new bike tech or just general conversation. I recently had a Retul done on my Trek Madone this season as I was having some discomfort and also looking o maximize my power output. The process took 3 hours and the data that was produced has changed my rides for the better. Small adjustments and a saddle change has made my 100KM plus rides so much more enjoyable. The staff are incredible and I’d like to call out one individual, Greg. He is a seasoned cyclist and wealth of knowledge. He did my Retul fitting and continues to follow up on the adjustments to ensure I’m happy with them. I loved this shop when Sheila owned it and still love it with the new ownership. Highly recommend getting a Retul fitting done with Greg. You will absolutely not regret it. It does not matter what level of cyclist you are, a properly fitted bike makes all the difference in the world.
They refused to service my bike because it wasn't bought there?! Who turns down business?! I WASN'T ASKING FOR ANYTHING FOR FREE. I was happy to pay their service fee, and in fact I would have 100% accepted a different shop price for a 3rd party bike. Not sure what this is suppose to accomplish as a business model, but if they think it'll suddenly make me want to buy anything ELSE from them they are mistaken (yes... my family has bought from them before). "The boss" who saw me in the process of unloading my bike sent out one his staff members to tell me... How cowardly. Responding to the store's reply: nobody asked what I was there to get done. I was not invited to discuss anything.. "we don't service any bike we didn't sell, don't bother unloading it.".. All I needed was a brake adjustment on a very conventional braking system ...If your techs can't handle a 5 min brake adjustment and need training, people should really stay away!
I recently purchased my new "Giant Cypress 1" at J&J Cycle and it was very refreshing to go into a store and get any and all info I required with out the pressure of "buying now !!! " Darryl was the first person I spoke with who I found very informative. He patiently talked me through the different bikes and discussed my riding habits. I called back a few days later and talked to Jack who informed me that a new batch had just arrived. Upon arriving the next day, Jack also took me through the bikes and hit every detail of each and recommended the Cypress for my wants and needs. The bike was ready for pick up when they said and the only problem I have is that I cant seem to get off it !!! LOL The perfect bike for me, excellent service and they provided Military discounts of 10% on all accessories. I will highly recommend them to all my friends. Very refreshing to have NO high sales pitches. A very comfortable, friendly atmosphere.
The significance of Sheila and John's store to Kingston cyclists is revealed in a couple of ways. First, they were able to move from their less visible and smaller Golden Mile store to a more accessible and larger store at the busy and important Bath Road / Days Road intersection. Not only are they following the important "Location, Location, Location" criterion at their new address but their larger store also provides customers with a much larger selection of bikes and cycling accessories. For example, I recently purchased a trainer from them and had a choice of at least a half dozen makes and models. The second aspect of their significance is that they themselves are active cyclists and know the sport. When I was looking at the trainers, I asked Sheila what model she used. She replied that she didn't need one because she used her bike with the big tires throughout the entire year.
Not a single positive experience, out of 5 times I went there. They are just unhelpful and snooty. The last time, my wife asked for an inexpensive water bottle and she got a top-down look and a "Miss, they start at nine dollars..." ("... how cheap are you?" was implied by the voice). Other experiences: 1. I asked them to remove a seized bottom bracket on my Norco, and they were not able to. 2. I bought a wrench, I took it home and used it, and it bent immediately. When I took it back the next day to show them, I was not expecting my money back, because I know I applied to much force on it, I just wanted to show them and I would have appreciated say a discount on my next purchase. Instead I got just another mean look and rude reply. I'm sorry to speak ill of others, but if you go to J&J and are not flaunting 100$ bills, be prepared to be treated like a nuisance.
I purchased a bike from j&j in June of 2019 . I understood that there was one year free service however because of Covid 19 was unable to have it serviced until early August . I phoned and spoke to the owner Sheila .There would be a charge for any service because the warranty expired . Considering that this is the third bike purchased from j&j I including one bought this spring for my granddaughter I thought it unfair that I would be charged for a simple tune up . Gear adjustments only .pBefore work commenced I retrieved my bike the same day I dropped it off . I expressed my disappointment in no uncertain terms . She told me “if they did this for me they would have to do it for everyone “ . Yes . She’s right . They don’t rate good Will very highly . My bike gears had already been adjusted ( no charge) but a very ugly scene .
Very bad experience dealing with J&J Cycle. I went for a tune up of my bike, knowing that it needed a little of air and maybe to replace the rim tape in one of the tires. They told me that the tune up cost around $65. I found the price a little high but not unfair for the work. When I picked my bike up they told me that they used tape for both tires, cable, 2 tube of lube and that my total was $138 . When I ask why? They answered that the fixed price they have on the board is only labor. It would have been nice if they had a little of courtesy, for letting me know that the cost will be increase because of the additional things they need to use and if I agree with that. Hopefully they would be more thoughtful with future clients. I won't return to this place for sure.
Absolute useless bicycle shop. Unless you buy from them or one of their brands they refuse to even look at let alone touch your product. Was told by Greg that they do tire changes on all bicycles, no need to call or book an appointment just bring it in. I buy $200 tires, bring my bike in and Greg says they can’t touch it because it’s not a brand they carry. They’re afraid of wrecking the whole bicycle by unscrewing a bolt. Unbelievable useless shop. Chris has responded that they happily recommended two other bike shops. No Chris, you rudely and dismissively told me I could try other shops “but they probably won’t touch it either”. Why did Greg tell me any bike and even confirmed ebike then? Unprofessional. I brought in a mid drive motor not a rear hub motor also.
Took my bike in to have one of the breaks adjusted. I was told I needed a new chain. I wasn't having any issues with it, but I'm not the expert, so I told them to go ahead. My break adjustment had now turned into a new chain and full tune up. When I got my bike back, there were a few gears skipping. When I asked if they would fix it, as this had never happened before, they told me I'd need to pay for new cogs and some labour. When discussing the problem with them, it seemed to be a pretty common issue, and one they might have been able to bring to my attention during my first visit. On another note, do they not properly test the bikes after working on them? They've certainly lost my trust, so I'll be finding a new shop for maintenance.
I recently had very positive experience at JJ a few weeks ago. New owner Chris and his team were very helpful and patient in providing details. After a couple of visits, I could decide it was the right bike and bought it. I was invited back for a free initial bike fit with Greg, who was super friendly and knowledgeable. One of the brakes wasn't working properly from the factory. Instead of me driving back and forth to the shop, John was amazing and trying to sort it out during the same bike fit appointment, which they did before I could finish browsing accessories. His young mechanic did a great job bleeding the brake. I really appreciate their efforts in providing quality service.
I was charged a diagnostic fee to access a problem with my Di2 system. I was told most of my parts would have to be replaced to the tune of $500. I asked how they came to this conclusion and they couldn't give me an explanation. I picked up my bike without doing the repairs with them and they handed me my bike with no verbal or written report of their findings. I felt that they were displeased that I didn't just take their word for it and pay for the repairs. I bought a new battery online for $159 and plugged it in to my system, I was not shocked to find everything worked. When will local business learn that online pricing is always better and customer service is all they have now?
I was in Kingston for a week during a family holiday and needed a road bike. I contacted Sheila at J & J cycles and had incredible service. Not only did she meet my need for a bike, but she made sure that the bike was precisely tuned to me: she replaced the stem with one that afforded a better fit. She checked & rechecked my form on the bike (set up on a trainer in the shop) before being satisfied that the fit was optimal. Her attention to detail and dedication to the needs of a cyclist underscore her expertise in servicing the Kingston cycling community. She & her shop are great assets to cyclists in & around Kingston (and to those of us who visit, as well). Go there!
My roommate got a bike from there not too long ago after the company I work for referred him there. Recently the chain on his bike broke and since he got a warranty on it for repairs, he put something on the chain to be able to bike all the way to the shop aince it is a long distance from our place. When he got there, the employee told him since he made an "alteration" to his bike, he was no longer under the warranty. He literally made a small fix to be able to bike to the store since he does not own a car and they told him that what he paid for was no longer valid. This is terrible service and I will stop recommending this company.
Listen great place and ownership! Since new ownership things went well up until yesterday at 4:20pm Saturday. Walked in to four young guy running shop. Needed new hub. Walked it in, he put it on bench as i wlaked around. Overheard them say "we should tell this guy to f off or what, began to chuckle". Wanted to go off but kept cool. These four guys were standing around doing nothing when i walk in. Rolling it out saying it's a safety hazard to even work on bike. The forks were cracks in half. Which I didn't know. So instead of asking for new set of forks and rebuilding hub, I walked out and will not be returning.
I’m so happy I went in to J and J cycle after I broke my front brake lever. I came in from Toronto to ride the Farm. Went in asked for help and even though it was Saturday afternoon, they took the time to fix me up to finish riding on this long weekend. Thanks to Mark who took time to get me going again. Jacob and Mark were professional and super helpful. It’s nice to see a biking community willing to lend a hand. Great selection of bikes and they had exactly what I needed. If you are in Kingston you have to check them out. They could have sent me on my way but went out of the way to help. Thanks again guys.
I've shopped at this store for many large items in the past. Recently I purchased a bicycle from J&J Cycle and from the outset, Chris, the owner, was in direct communication with me. Chris sent me the tracking number to let me know when my bike would be arriving and updated me on the building process. When picking it up, the product sustained some slight damage that truly bothered me. Chris was in constant communication with me and his top priority was ensuring that I was satisfied. This business truly cares about its customers. I can't say enough good things about J&J Cycle!
Thomas helped me purchase a beautiful cruiser bike and accessories to go with. Sheila serviced my bike and attached my accessories/helped me load up the bike into a small sedan. Both were very knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend fellow cyclists to this store. It's so nice to go in, and talk to people who actually know what you are talking about/looking for. They helped me weigh the pros and cons of different cruisers, and pointed out perfect rear rack, fenders, and helmet for me. I will certainly be back :)
J & J continue to impress me with professional/knowledgable service. The huge store with loads of bikes, equipment couplied with their first hand knowledge of what they sell is impressive. Having them as my local cycling shop has been a real blessing, they are my one stop shop for parts, tuneups, and air travel bike bags for my annual over seas cycling trips. Now MAYBE I could find my requirements "online" but I'd be missing the excellent knowledge with personal service that I find second to none. I highly recommend them.
I came in with a request to fix my derailer. The tech called and advised me that in his opinion my bike was worthless and said it was $1000 to fix several items I had not requested. I told the tech I was not interested in replacing these items as I just need a basic bike. He was quite short with me and would not listen to what I was actually asking for. Highly condescending, rude, and not willing to complete the very simple fix I requested. I took my bike to Frontenac Cycle and had a far better experience.
Horrible service. Been to this shop twice. The first time they ordered the wrong part then tried to charge me a fee when it didn't fit. The second time the girl said she was too busy to look at the bike when i was the only one in the store two hours later she called me back to tell me she can't do anything with it as she didn't have the parts. She followed by how it wasn't worth her time to get the parts off. There are other shops around who will help you out if you need repairs done.
My first exposure to J&J was in the fall of 2022 purchasing a new bike trainer. I found it on their website, called to confirm it was in and bought it. Simple. On the strength of that interaction, I brought my bike in for service in late Feb. It received a comprehensive overall, turned around in one day and looks like new - I appreciated the fact that examined the bike thoroughly and called me to review what was needed prior to going ahead with repairs. All around excellent service.
I had been having a lot of trouble inflating my road bike over the years and several people have tried to help me inflate the tires that had originally the Presta valve and more recently the Schneider valve. No one could understand why the air kept leaking out around the valve. Thankfully J&J opens early. I was able to drive my bike over to them and John saw the problem immediately and remedied it in no time flat ( pun intended! ). Thank you J&J! You were all very courteous too!
Sheila has been awesome! I contacted J&J about buying a new direct drive smart trainer. The price for the Tacx Flux S was the same as sport chek, MEC, and other online places. The difference is in the service. Sheila and J&J Cycle let me trade in my other road bike, my old smart trainer, and came to my house to set up the new trainer! Incredible service! I'm extremely appreciative of this service and will be going to J&J in the future for my bike needs. Thank you!
I was a regular customer. Spent plenty at this store. Guarantee they won't get another dime. Took two bikes in for service. Both jobs botched. I now have a tire that rubs and another bike with gear issues. Already booked appointment elsewhere. Buyer beware. When I explained what was going on the owner spent the whole time finding reasons why it's my fault. Don't care about fault, just want my bike running properly. Go ahead and be a right fighter...........bye
Just wanted to send a massive thank you to the staff at J&J and especially John for going above and beyond to get my wheels fixed through Giants warranty program. Especially during the hectic covid period, it was a long process due to no fault of J&J. They kept me up to speed during it all and were very helpful with any inquiry I had, I will definitely continue to frequent J&J cycle because of the great service and quality bikes and a products. Thanks again
Wanted to get a bike to start some low impact exercising and the guys at J&J were a great help. They could have sold me a bike that was too small for me but they didn't. They wanted to sell me a bike that was a good fit and wouldn't sell a product that was not a good fit. To me that shows that they are genuine people and want to sell quality products. They took my number and later called when they got a bike in my size. They earned a customer today :)
I was looking for some parts for my son's bike, and they are hard to find right now. Sheila was fantastic! I normally support my local shop, but they told me if I can find the parts I should grab them right away. So I did an online order and she searched the store high and low to find the product I was after, and when she couldn't find it she offered me an alternative they had in stock. My order was processed and she is shipping it today.
I have been going to this store for a number of years now and I am doing this for some very simple reasons. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and don't simply want to sell you the most expensive product, but understand what your needs are. I have read a bad report on here which i don't understand. I will continue going here for my cycling needs and hopefully my children will follow in my footsteps
I'm relatively new to biking and these are my people. I recently had John do a setup because I didn't realize until I was talking to other people that some pain in the arms I was experiencing was due to needing some aspects of the bike changed! He spent the hour improving everything about the fit of the bike, and it's so much more enjoyable to ride now. Worth every cent. I find everyone friendly and helpful.
I bought a Giant cruiser style bicycle from this shop some years ago before they moved into the Blockbuster. I'm extremely happy with it. I have brought the bike in for service for several years now and I always found the customer service to be excellent. No pushy sales people to buy things I don't need. They answer any questions I have with confidence and expertise. I love having this place near my home.
Just brought home my new Cannondale Topstone Sora gravel bike from J & J. I need size XL and I couldn't find it anywhere else, so called J & J. They shipped the bike in 7 days, assembled it for me, and even put the pedals on (which I bought separately). The guy there said bring it back anytime for a check up for free within the year. Excellent service, price, and product selection. My bike is awesome!
Was using my old CCM mountain bike for a few times now with no issues. Went in for a tune up and got called the next day saying many parts need to be replaced and that it would cost 300$ and they would recommend getting a new one instead as it was not worth it (repair cost was higher than actual bike cost). Went to another shop in tow who just gave it a regular tune up and the bike was good to go!
Purchased a Cannondale gravel bike here in the summer. The service was exceptional. Dan helped me get the precise bike I was looking for. John fit me to the bike and did a fantastic job, which makes all the difference for long gravel grinds across the countryside. My sincere thanks for the friendly, efficient service! I am getting maximum enjoyment of my new bike because of the fine service.
I would unfortunately consider this store a pass for anyone looking for cycling products. The kid there is a bit of over his head and could use an attitude adjustment and the store requires a 25% deposit which is non refundable even when they can’t guarantee proper fitment because they carry no stock. I’d just look elsewhere if your into cycling . If you want a kids bike however hit them up.
I bought a Cannondale Topstone 105 Carbon with shoes etc from Dave and Sheila in June. Sheila did the bike fit. Have since put on over 2,000 km. Made my summer. Brought it in for a tune up, turned around in a day. I live in Toronto outside of covid times. It's refreshing to have a courteous and caring staff. Thanks for everything you do, and for keeping cycling alive and well in our area.
These folks repaired / replaced the gear shifter on my Giant Roam bicycle . They exceeded my expectations. Had my bike back in 4 days, during a peak period, called me for authorization to go forward on an unexpected issue, and overall provided friendly and knowledgeable service. I always expect good customer service but seldom get it anywhere. I got it today ! Thank you J&J.
I just purchased a gravel bike from this store. The salesperson was knowledgeable and very helpful. He even accommodated my request to put pedals on for me with a short timeline rather than making me come back much later that day. I was given a 10% discount on accessories with my purchase, and one year of unlimited tune-ups. I appreciate good service; thanks J&J!
After a mix up on my end and almost not getting our bike for the day we needed it, Shiela went above and beyond and went back to the store after hours and delivered our bike right to my door! Great, friendly service and a lots of bike selection with quick delivery from their warehouse. I would absolutely recommend shipping local, good quality bikes from JJ cycle.
Great experience, friendly people, and contacted me when they got the bike I wanted, despite the difficulties with stock. The only thing holding me back from a 5 star is the past 2 times I was there I received the opposite experience. Friendly, younger guy helped me out and he was very nice. I'll be returning if this type of great experience continues!
Good products, poor customer service. J&J Cycle is a Cannonade, Giant, Cervelo & Norco dealer so they carry nice stuff. But.. Depending on who you deal with there, the customer service sucks. I've been made to feel very uncomfortable there, for reasons unbeknownst to me. There are other shops in town who have friendlier staff, go there.
For the last ten years I have had nothing other than good advice and fun. friendly service. We have bought several bikes from J and J, and had excellent after-care advice and service. I find some of the comments quite surprising as it is so far from the experience of my own family, but I would certainly strongly recommend J and J
Contacted Sheila this morning about upgrading my son's bike to a big boy bike, as we purchased his children's bike from there two years ago. I received a quick reply about what stock was left and picked up later today. Pricing was great, and we are so thrilled he will have a new bike on Christmas day! Thanks again.
My family and I have purchased all our bikes here and will always continue to do so. I recently purchased a bike rack from J&J and recieved an enormous amount of help when deciding the best option for my car / needs ect. As always, I was very happy with the team at J&J and the products I've purchased there.
J&J cycle is a nice bike shop and I think Sheila is attempting to do a good job of improving the environment for customers unfortunately the guy in the back that repairs bikes has a bit of an attitude must’ve been related to John it’s too bad bike shops should be an enjoyable experience for patrons.
The J&J Cycle staff were so knowledgeable when it came to picking out the perfect bike for me. That coupled with their incredible customer service allowed for me to have the best experience when purchasing my new Norco bike. Would recommend J&J to anyone looking for anything bike-related.
Fast and excellent service, a friendly and knowledgeable staff. These guys helped me out with an urgent tune up midway through a 1500 km tour. Can't say enough about how professionally they worked to get me back on the road. If I lived locally these guys would be my go to shop.
Was there to get info on my old bike to see if it could be more rideble in a more upright position, I was expecting the salesman to try to sell me a new bike, to my supprise he proposed to modify mine first, I just found my shop for the rest of my cycling days. BZ & Thank you
I was happy to find a bike at J&J Cycle. Bikes are hard to find these days. I found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful. Today my new bike’s breaks stopped working properly. They fit me in right away and got it all fixed up really quickly for me. Thanks!
I had my bike tuned up at another shop. It continued to not work well. I called JJCYCLE at the last minute to ask them to look at it. Not only did they fix it right away as I was from out of town and had a race in a week, they were honest and helpful.
Comprehensive Stock, very knowledgeable staff and you should conciser checking them out when purchasing a bicycle. Unfortunately repair and servicing is poor. Put it this way, I thought service was OK until in desperation I took my bicycle elsewhere.
Excellent bike store! They have supplied me and my family with quality bikes, a great spin bike, and related products such as Chamois Butt'r (to prevent chafing) and Hammer Endurolytes (to prevent cramping). This is my go to bike store in Kingston.
I have never ridden a cross bike and after discussing it with Sheila I had her order one that would best suit my needs . I took it for my first ride this morning and it was perfect! Thank you J&J Cycle for providing top quality service.
Bought a new Norco for my grandson. Outstanding service. Prompt, knowledgeable and intelligent service and advice. Appreciated that staff told me about options at Canadian Tire and Sportschek. Very attentive to sizing the bike for my
Amazing friendly staff. Knowledgeable and helpful. Huge selection and can order just about anything if it's not on the floor. I would never go anywhere else if I was considering buying another bike. They're Kingston's bike source.
I don’t think the staff of this store, especially for that staff sale my bike, have enough respect to their customer. I purchase bike form this store because their is no other bike store near me! I wouldn’t recommend this store.
Thanks to a severe injury, I needed a new bike that would let me ride reasonably hard but deal with a permanently mangled leg. Greg and Jack were terrific - they knew what I needed, and I'm loving my new wheels. Thank you, J&J.
One of the best cycle shops in Kingston. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The store has a great selection of bikes, bike accessories, clothing, and consumables (gels, bars, chain lube, spare parts, etc.)
Excellent sales staff, especially the owner Sheila. Very knowledgeable and easy to work with. No pressure sales and very friendly. This is our third bike purchases here and could not imagine going anywhere else. Great job
I had meant to do this yesterday, I would like to thanks Chris and Dan Great service, Chris took the time to show me how to change a bike tire tube. Both gents were kind, funny, and provided great service. Thanks much
Always my ‘go to’ bike store to both purchase and service my bikes. Fantastic knowledgeable staff and always quick and friendly service. Highly recommend J&J and would never consider taking my business anywhere else.
Excellent friendly service, exceptional product knowledge, thoughtful advice, and superior selection. Highly skilled bike fitting services too! My family and I have dealing with J&J Cycle for well over 10 years.
Polite staff, showing me options for bicycle tires available. Understandably, they are very busy, so be patient. I was permitted to stand just inside the door on this snowy-damp day which I really appreciated.
This place is the best! Shiela & her staff are exceptionally knowledgeable as well as friendly. Great selection, the prices are fair & they stand behind their products. There is none better in town. Will.
Ordered the wrong part from them on an online order. I mailed it back to them and got a hassle free refund. Sheila was helpful in providing me the proper info so I could source the part I needed locally.
Excellent service. Knowledgeable employees. They let you take the bikes on a quick text ride. Large variety of bike brands and styles ranging from the reasonably priced to the high quality
Such amazing customer service. I didn’t have any cycling experience or knowledge, the staff helped me choose gear and gave me tons of helpful information. I’m absolutely loving my bike!
Bikes taken in for a spring clean and replacement parts. Outrageous bill and very poor work. Did not properly oil or recalibrate gears or breaks. Total scam - go anywhere else
Darryl and John were super helpful in processing a warranty claim for a bike I bought elsewhere. Easy, very fast and great communication the whole time. Definitely recommend.
Just about the nicest people I have meet no issue with trying bikes organized great rides and went over and above from an after sales service easily one of my favorite stores
Stopped by with a stripped crank arm and although the shop was busy they were able to provide me with the Part to fix it - (helicoil). Prompt knowledgeable service... thanks
Staff are very friendly and approachable. I have a very little (read no) bike knowledge and they helped me make a good decision with no pressure. Also, Stanley is adorable.
I had such a great experience at J&J Cycle! Thanks to Jacob who was so very knowledgeable and made sure that I bought the bike that suited my needs. Highly recommended!
I've had a very good experience with Jack at J&J Cycle with the recent purchase of a Giant Roam Disc 3 Mountain Bike. Jack was helpful, knowledgeable and professional.
Great staff. Great service with tons of experience and knowledge. Located in the west end of kingston. Lots of parking. This store has everything you need for cycling.
Jack gave me excellent service, very professional, the same goes for the rest of the team. It felt like I was the number one priority and not just another customer.
Good service, helpful staff. I came in close to closing time and they were happy to help me despite it being late in the day. I'll be shopping here in the future.
Drove 6 hours to buy a car roof box that they said they had but did not. Hard to reach them by email or phone and very unresponsive overall. Big waste of time
I've bought a used bike there in April, realized one of the tire leak air, just walk and they fix it without any question, nice staff and I love the bike.
Excellent service, and friendly advice provided by Sheila this morning. Thanks for helping get my bike back on the road. Happy to hear the big news too!
Great service, very accommodating and very safe with covid. Head the stock I wanted on hand, arranged for a test drive and ended up with a bike I love.
Recent experience was fantastic! !! Bought new bike and my spouse had plenty done to his bike. Extremely knowledgeable staff and very friendly.
Can't say enough about Sheila at J&J. Buy your bike here and have her fit it to you. The absolute pinnacle of expertise and customer service.
Great service, selection and products. I'd give 5 out of 5, but they aren't open Sundays (which I understand but still can be inconvenient.)
Went into shop to purchase bike with son. Salesperson seemed to be bothered to be having to assist us with anything. Will not visit again.
J&J set up my bike perfectly. Friendly knowledgable staff. Great selection of everything I needed in store. Highly recommended!
Very helpful, fast service. Able to transform my dilapidated bike into something I can now ride to work safely and comfortably.
They set us up with a nice hybrid bike that suits our needs and was reasonably priced! Very nice, personable staff as well!
Just picked up my bike. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable and they helped me get exactly what I needed. Thanks!!
This would have been 1 star if it weren't for the pandemic. Limited stock was understandable. Staff condescension was not.
They are in the store, but the doors are locked. Stopped by twice and didn't feel like window shopping in this snow storm.
... seems like I had the same issue as most others. Good equipment at the store but most likely will not buy from again.
Great products and a very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Lots of free parking and safe places nearby for a road test.
