Even though this seems a small DIY in the south loop, I found there anything I have been looking for in any season at any time: shovels over winter, shower tubing, ladders, paints (both with or without odour), basic toolbox, smart lights for your home or even an ironing boards. All I got so far has been reliable and long lasting. They also have BBQs, camping chairs, any gardening tool you might think of, plumbing and electricals! If in doubt, the personnel is extremely qualified and kind to help out figuring out the best solution for you. There was one occurrence they didn't have what I was looking for and the personnel helped me out to find a close store to get what I needed. I am happy to be a customer there.

Edit: I was wrong, and the owner’s response was kind and understanding. Apparently multiple spaces along this street are labeled with the street address 725, so when I came across one empty space I didn’t continue looking. Sure enough, this place exists. I’m giving five starts for the kind response but leaving the text of my original review below in case anyone else is confused as I was. I came and it doesn’t exist here. Ace hardware website also lists this address, and the owner seems to be active on here as of a few days ago but the space is completely cleared out and has another business banner on the building

Your store has always come through before for me with handy tools and needs, and your staff is always very helpful. But I wanted to give a big shout out to one of your employees, Zach, who helped me out with a clutch emergency need of cable tie wraps before the holidays, and gave me expert advice and service. Then, when I got back to Chicago after the holidays, came through for me once again on a need that wasn't readily available on the floor. Kudos to your store, Zach, and the great staff that works there. Keep up the good work!

Conveniently located and they carry a great selection in case you need to pick up something for cleaning or repair. They have most of the items you'd need to fix issues in your downtown condo. I was also able to find the correct metric carriage bolt and nuts to repair the front axle of my broken scooter. The prices are high like you'd expect for a south loop location, but you can't beat the convenience when something emerges that needs a quick fix or if you forgot to pick up something for your remodel project.

Whenever I need to get a hard to find hardware parts or other odd things Gordon's Ace is my go to. They always have that hard to find part for the furniture, specialty item. The staff is great and is always available to help, And they're know their products. They also make all kinds of keys, I'm like the new machines at the Box stores that don't ever have the right blank. If you live in the South loop it's a great store rather than the big box home improvement stores.

Was in and out in less than 5 mins. Walked in, had a woman at the door greet been me and asked what brings me in, she told me the exact aisle, then had another employee help on spot with finding what I was searching for, then checkout with no problem A GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION. (then a day later had to go to another Ace hardware and had a completely different experience, no greeter, no help, endless searching for one item). Keep up the consistency!!!

They have everything, seriously. If they don't have something they will work with you to get it from another Ace Hardware. I recently went in looking for help restoring a wooden box. The staff was able to point me to a product that would do what I wanted. The staff member also had first hand knowledge of how the product would work, a plus when you're trying something new. Keys are cut here too.

Very helpful staff. If you are a DIYer, and willing to learn about a new household task (painting an entire room) , ACE guys help you with the tools you need. Store has wide selection of tools. Painting , plumbing, cleaning, repair, fix up, etc. Key maker also available. Staff is knowledgeable and assists with the needs.

The team at this store are some of the most helpful humans ever! My company was exhibiting at a convention at the Hilton around the corner and we forgot our box cart. This store saved us by not only having a replacement cart in stock but also assembling it for us!!!! I can’t thank the team enough! They saved us!

This store and the team are THE BEST. I phoned in a paint order during the sale; they held it for me while I was on vacation and made sure everything was shaken, not stirred prior to pickup. Every time I’ve been in, the staff has been more than helpful. Great customer service, a neighborhood gem.

Manager was unfriendly and unprofessional. Needed a last minute item 5 minutes before closing. Manager turned off all the store lights making it harder to find what was needed. He also proceeded to complain about how much of a burden I was to him being there just a few minutes past closing.

This Ace has what it has and makes no frills about anything. It's a take it or leave it sort of place and I have to respect the straight forward nature of the business. It makes no sense to bother about things that aren't there and it's always a good deal on things in stock.

Everyone in this store acts like a wanna be gangster. Degrading music towards woman playing as well. Completely unproffesional. I am going to drive 10 min to Home Depot rather than walk across the street from now on. Get new managmement or close down. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I run a restaurant in the area and have stopped by this location multiple times for various pieces of hardware. The employees are always friendly and helpful! The assistant manager Alex helped me today and went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience!

Ace has everything! And is extremely close to my sons apartment. So it literally is the neighborhood hardware store. For a socket set and small trash can there. Plus Oxy Clean powder. They even have key making services and snacks! Great option for necessities.

The inside is much larger than you would think from the front. They got everything you could need from a hardware store and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It's an actual pleasure to shop here compared to the stress of a big box store like home Depot.
