I had never been to this location before all of the celebrations for the Lighting and the Bucs. We are from the Sarasota area so we left home at around 7am not knowing what to expect. Upon arrival we parked on the street across from the Beulah Baptist Church along someone’s front yard. The guy came out while we were parking on his way to work. He was really nice and told us to enjoy our day at the celebration. It was a short walk to the park. The park was all set up for the celebration. We walked around and checked things out. A lady officer told us we would probably enjoy the parade more if we crossed over the bridge to the other side. After we crossed over to the other side we walked around again for a short time. We picked our spot and just stayed put. Since we had gotten there so early we were able to get the concrete blocks in the shade to sit on. There was a breeze and it was beautiful to say the least. Do get me wrong it was really really hot too. I realized I didn’t have the cord for my battery pack so I walked back across the bridge to get it but was told that they were going to raise the bridge soon and might not make it back. So I just turned around. The couple who was sitting next to us was so nice . Their car was on that side so she walked to her car for me and got her cord for me to use so I would be able to take plenty of pictures. Why am I adding all of this in my review? Well not only is the park beautiful but the people that was there were kind. The experience was great!!! The bridge went up and the Tampa Bay Lighting Boat Celebration was under way. It took a very long time for them to reach us. I was enjoying the Scenery. There was so many people enjoying the park. A man brought his own hammock from home. A few on rollerblades, walking, playing and just plain laying on the grassy bank. I’m enclosing pictures of the event and how people were enjoying the park.

I went to Julian B. Lane Park for the 50th Annual Gasparilla Festival of Art. These types of events happen at the park quite a few weekends every year. The GFA is one of the biggest. The City of Tampa did an excellent job building this amazing park. It's huge. The park seems to be perfectly maintained. There is a Boys and Girls Club on site. The playground is modern and massive. The jogging paths are long enough for the most ardent runners. There are hundreds of benches and chairs, plus tables, chess/checker tables, and open grass seating areas. Pets are everywhere. You can bring your fishing pole, just make sure you bring your license if required. You could spend the whole day without you or your children getting bored if you bring your favorite outdoor game for one of the wide open spaces. The downtown Tampa Riverwalk is within walking distance. It starts right across the Hillsborough river at the Straz theater. All in all the Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park is a great place to visit for the whole family.

Boom by the Bay! July 1st, not the 4th. This was the best fireworks display ever, by far! Great crowd, plenty of parking lots around, free Jolly Roger city shuttle, food trucks and huge open space for families, people, dogs, and kids. Kenzie Wheeler put on a great free concert followed by the most spectacular fireworks display we all have ever seen. Concert music was perfect but the music with the fireworks was painfully loud at first but we adjusted. Musical tributes to all branches of the military followed by John Wayne leading the pledge of allegiance set to phenomenal fireworks was truly moving. Very inspiring, and nice to feel that American pride and patriotism still exist in abundance. Comfortable, wholesome, relaxing fun that left everyone feeling good! Thank you TECO and other sponsors for underwriting this awesome free event. #boombythebay

Everything you want a park to have. I love coming to this park weather alone, for a romantic date or with a big group of people. There’s lots of things to do. It may get crowded during the weekend but, the park is so big it’s not usually a problem. The field gets really soggy (almost flooded) after it rains so you want to avoid sandals or any low cut shoes during those weather conditions. Plenty of parking at the park and nearby areas. Football field, basketball court, tennis court, etc... There’s a great view of Tampa’s very small skyline and it’s right on a river. University of Tampa is walking distance from the park. This park is also connected to the river walk. I can’t cover everything this park has in a review but it’s definitely my favorite park in Tampa.

  • James Harris

I love this park ! I was raised in Seminole heights and Jackson heights but I live this park in west Tampa. I like walking around the park and coming out at night to walk and workout with beautiful lights and being on the water is absolutely great ! Nothing better than this park.
Playground
Great playground for the kids. They also have the suspended water bucket in the air that dumps water on to the splash n play area where the kids can get wet.
Restrooms
Clean, big, roomy bathrooms. Single person bathrooms too
Dog-friendliness
There is a very nice dog park there too.
Picnic area
You can have a picnic in the open for area.

  • Clayton Hubbard

This is an awesome park. My wife showed at the 50th annual GFA which was located here. I have to also say it’s not just the grounds that made our experience wonderful. It was also the people that work in Tampa. The police department, Parks and Recreation, Sanitation etc that make this area so pleasurable to be at. I have to give it to Tampa for their efforts in revitalization as well as their hospitality. All that being said. The bathrooms were very clean, the grounds were kept in tip top shape, and the various playgrounds looked very safe and clean for children to play in.

  • Cheryl Hardison Lamar

The park itself was good. It was just so hot in the month of July to be outside when we visited Tampa. However, they had a water feature that the children there truly enjoyed and were able to be in their swimsuits to cool off. They also had a mist area, but it was too tall for me to get any mist on me. The giant half open tent provided relief from the sun as well. The many food trucks that were positioned on the various paths appealed to everyone, and the space provided ample room for the trucks to be spaced.

  • Dawne

This is an awesome space, that photos cannot capture accurately. We visited the boathouse this weekend, for a two-day paddling intensive. The teams that paddle out of the park are so kind, and the facilities are great. Restroom availability was tricky with weekend events closing off the restrooms in the boathouse, but there were alternatives a short walk away. The dog park is fantastic, as is the rest of the park, right along the river. Will definitely explore the park more next time I'm in town!

  • Phebe Havor

A wonderful place to spend time at with friends or family in the heart of downtown Tampa. There is big playground and water park for your kids. Accessible bathrooms as well which I must say are always kept clean. There are also tennis courts you can play at. Plenty of space for either a walk, workout, soccer, you name it. There are also pagodas you can reserve for large gatherings as well. Parking is free and there’s extra near the main road for up to 4 hours. Would definitely recommend.

  • Alicia M.

This place was recently built and I love how it’s not as crowded as Curtis Hixon. I love how relaxed and opened this park is. I love coming here at nights and just taking in the night sky. There’s a ramp onto the river taxi here and a basketball court that been bringing people together. I love that, there’s something for everyone here. A dog park, football field, tennis, water fun for children. This was a great addition to the expanding downtown Tampa.

  • Rachel Greene

Beautiful park with lots of shade! This park has three separate dry areas for toddlers through older children, with shade overhead. The ground is soft padded ground, instead of mulch. There is also a connected splash pad with family bathrooms. There are plenty of places to sit, although not all of that is shaded. Nearby, there are some shaded picnic tables, with a beautiful view of the nearby Riverwalk. This park is a wonderful family play zone!

  • LaTonja Ashwood

The park is beautiful and it is just right for the kids meaning there are a lot of things they can do around the water and gymboree area. My complaints are there are not enough shades area for parents to sit and watch their kids enjoyed themselves. Also one of the gymboree area needs a top cover so the kids won't burn themselves while playing. My grand daughter and several other kids had burn their feet and hands on the step ladder of the slide.

  • Christopher Kennedy

I had an amazing time at Julian B Lane Riverfront Park! This park is an absolute gem in Tampa and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun day out. The park is well-maintained and has plenty of amenities for visitors to enjoy, including a playground, splash pad, and basketball courts. The park also offers stunning views of the Hillsborough River and the downtown skyline. It's the perfect spot for a picnic or a relaxing stroll.

  • A. A

I love the how the park has a family friendly atmosphere. The playground is age appropriate geared to families with small children. There's a water park area with a bucket kinects motion. It's sure to cool you off on a hot day! They're are other activities for the older children like Tennis, Basketball or playing in the open field area. This tree looks like a character from Disney's Pocahontas movie.

  • Paul Wahrer

I got the opportunity to volunteer at the Super Bowl Experience and it was located at Julian B Lane Park. I had never been to this park, but now that I have, it's beautiful and very convenient to get to. I drove from St. Pete, and it's easy to get to off of I-275. The park is well maintained and has gorgeous views of the River and that entire area! I highly recommend checking it out!

  • April Cumberbatch

Absolutely beautiful. The first time visiting was for the Gasparilla Arts Festival, which in itself was great. If you live nearby or just looking for a nice park downtown, this it it. There is also a lovely playground for the kids. Bring water clothes as there is a water park as well. Don't forget to pack the snacks. Water front view with plenty of seating. We loved it.

  • Clayton Scelzi (Adventureoutside)

Such a highly exquisite park located in the depths of downtown Tampa. The park is beautiful and does wonders to the heart and soul. Makes you really get in touch with the great outdoors but most importantly the Super Bowl. Best experience ever at the NFL experience especially with the Buccaneers. Had such a great time highly recommend to see the park as well.

  • Rekha H

Very nice picnic park, getting parking during weekend bit difficult. A well maintained play area and water Splash pad is fun for kids. Spotted couple of picnic shelters. Has access to Riverfront walk.
Playground
Its good, clean and well maintained
Picnic area
Couple of picnic shelters are there. You can hangout anywhere in the park.

  • E Dubbz

It literally has something for everyone AND with great views as well. Separate pet areas designated by size (large vs. small), outdoor sports, riverwalk access, an awesome venue for parties, and simply a great place to hang out! With so much going on, parking is insufficient. Expect to park and hike it. Overall, highly recommended.

  • Tabetha M Sibley-Tyner

We just found this park and not sure how we missed it. Awesome splash pad and playground. Kids can go back and forth between the two with ease. The playground and splash pad are fenced so little ones are contained. There are misters so if you are hot you can cool down and family bathrooms for changing, showers. Our kids love it!

  • Ravonna Pm

Had my baby shower there in April. It is clean family friendly. The picnic shelters are first come, first serve. With an exception of the big one. So make sure you get there early if you want to set up for an event. We Even took some nice pictures and It's right by the water. Beautiful weather and scenery. Definitely recommend.

  • Bill Waller

Quite a beautiful space no doubt. Plenty of area to enjoy and a real step up for this city! The splash pad, playgrounds and boat house are top notch and sure to bring joy to families all over the area. The whole riverfront is becoming a wonderful place to spend time together enjoying creation and getting exercise.

  • Troy Montgomery

We went to the superbowl experience at the park and the kids had a great time. The lines for their activities were reasonable and they did many of them twice but the lines to get into the superbowl history tent and to see the Lombardi trophy were absurd. Would definitely go again if reservations were required.

  • Charmaine Millet

Great park! It has plenty of sidewalks and backs up to the river. The playground also includes a big splash pad. They have several spots to sit, however not a lot of shade so bring a hat. Also this is not far from Armature Works, so you can walk across the draw bridge and eat lunch or get a cold snack.

  • Lee Irving

Every mother every parent every child, must go here!! I did and it was wonderful. They also have a tennis court and a place where they do kayaking. I didn't get a chance to take all the pictures I would like because my children were just ready to go because they were so tired after having so much fun!

  • Torrey Lindemann

Beautiful park right on the river front. Lots of neat activities. Boat house, dog park, Open field to throw frisbee, play ball or fly a kite. Splash pad for kids , games like bocce and ping pong tables! Free parking and walking trails. You can even walk across the bridge and connect to the river walk.

  • Olivia

Hotties playing basketball until like 10, really nice court, too. Swings across the river, dog Park, like everything you need, and the Riverwalk part is open all night with added security. Safe; fellas, easy cute date night, no excuses.
Restrooms
None unless you go over to armature works.

  • Mr.rich07 (Mr.rich)

The park not crowded and so you can walk and run with your animals and you can sit and look around talk to people or go for jogging in the park and you can bring your kids to park to run and they can bring their bikes to ride with you and take in the air going on your face. Peaceful park to go.

  • Lilu Powell

Great splash pad! Completely free. I brought my kids and their stroller and snacks, it's a huge place. Just keep in mind it gets a little crowded so your going to want to keep an eye on your kids bcuz they can easily blend with the others if you aren't careful. All in all it was fantastic!!!

  • Jason Bartos

Awesome park along the river. Great playground for various ages with a splash pad. Lots of tennis and pickle ball courts. Only downside is that the pavilions you can rent for birthdays are a long way away from the playground. The city should host more events here rather than Curtis Hixon.

  • Seeing the world In a different way

Beautiful place to explore with your family. Lots of things for kids to enjoy and for them to run around the water park. Furthermore, there is an interesting sculpture rear the waterfront, called Form of Wander. If you like my reviews, photos or videos then hit the lane with a like.

  • Mr. Richard

Well paved, pleasant scenery, and all around nice park. They have a few grill areas with cover from rain, a nice park for children, a field for fun activity, seats all over the place, and a nice public bathroom. This is a great place to visit at the end of the day or on a weekend.

  • Melissa Arribas-Bailey

Wonderful place we took the kids on spring break. Husband and I found this by accident as we were out for my allergy shot one week. I knew this place would make up for a new adventure of memories. Kids loved the dog park then we found the playground as we looked for restroom.

  • Michael Minervini

Amazing park.... great in the day and really awesome at night. Beautiful walk along the river, Colorful lights, great for a walk Werth your sweetie. Awesome amenities, shelters, bathrooms, water fun, game boards, tennis courts, dog parks...... but I really like it at night.

  • Fred Aguilar

What I love about this place is there’s so much going on here. Basketball courts, River walk, dog parks, kids splash pad and play ground. Also art events and much more! Downtown is close by as well as Armature Works. A great place to stop by if your a tourist or a resident.

  • Z

Beautiful park opposite performing arts center and across Riverwalk! Nice basketball courts tucked nearest parking lot and plenty of benches to sit and soak up the sights. Cute dog park right on the waters edge too. Lovely artwork installations and clean ample space!

  • Mark Spengler

Amazing new park and beautiful addition to our expanding riverwalk in Tampa. If you haven’t been here yet make a point to go to one of the festivals or concerts going on here seems like all the time. Have a picnic. Hop on a scooter, bring your bike, explore.

  • Christian

Beautiful location right on the river. Lots of places to sit and enjoy and enjoy the water. Could use more shaded areas. Has sports fields and a splash pad for kids. Home of the annual Gasparilla Arts Festivel every March which is a must see event in Tampa.

  • misty everard

Nice park for littles, all fenced in, soft ground, cool to the touch play surfaces. . Not much for 10+ and hot hot hot. Very little shade. Fun splash pad. Beautiful open spaces. Came from out of town, and likely wouldn't go here next time for our age group.

  • erik kortum

Just got told to stop playing tennis in middle of game to make the court available for pickle ball players that don't exist.. pretty shocking we can't use the only available court for a sport when no one else is using it.. thought this was for the public?

  • Damien Ceparano

We had a great time listening to a live orchestra as the sun went down. Plenty of delicious food trucks, both savory and sweet. We plan on going back again for a nice picnic in the park. They also have a nice area for the kids to play in the water park.

  • Jeremy Glover

This is a great park for both kids and adults. The playground and splash pad area is fenced in to help wrangle the kids. There are walking paths along the river. There were quite a few people playing pickleball on Sunday afternoon. There are bathrooms.

  • Christian Peralta

It's an amazing park with tennis, basketball park, water park, normal kids playground, and nice walkable path around the DT river. It has a nice selection of tables and grills in case you want to have a BBQ here as well. Restrooms are usually clean too

  • Richard Vickrey

The Julian B Lane Riverfront Park was pretty cool. I realize we only walked on it about 1/2 mile so we didn't see much of what it offers. But there were swinging benches, a developed walking/bike path, e-scooters, a theatre, the beautiful river, etc...

  • Joel Nelson

This is a very nicely done park with a lot going on.it's got a splash pad that merges into a playground with an open-air grassy field and lots of picnic tables. There's also a Riverwalk that starts here and goes down along the riverfront, very scenic.

  • Danette H

This park has just about everything. Dog parks, play areas for the kiddos, tennis, pickleball and a few other things I can't think of at the moment. The only downside is all of the highway noise. It makes a relaxing day at the park a little difficult.

  • Jonathan Fudge

Always enjoy events at this location. Such a wonderful venue with a fantastic view! We have done balloon decor here a few times and it is always exciting to see the cool things that can be done. This time it was organic garland over marquee letters.

  • Sammy Cerissi

Great spot for a walk. Easy to walk to Downtown from here. Plenty of dog parks in the area (one right on the water in the park). Splash area for kids. Lots of picnic areas. Great job Tampa for leveraging this land for a great community area! More

  • Mary McDarby-Rios

The Gasparilla festival of the arts was held at the park this year, moved from Curtis Hixon park last year. This year's location was full of impressive artwork, food options and music. The beautiful weather helped make it a spectacular event.

  • April Schmapril

Beautiful park, beautiful city! Would not reccomend the dog park during hottest parts of the day. The fake grass is always way too hot for my dog. It would be great if they would put a tarp over the very small dog areas. Wouldn't take much.

  • Elena Melliti

Great place to spend time with family. Playground is nice for young ones. Parking is free and there was plenty Friday evening. Would definitely recommend. Cass st bridge was closed so we crossed through Kennedy. Bathrooms were very clean.

  • Luisa Maria Arango

Love this park for roller skating (floor is soo smooth) it gets a bit packed depending on the day/hours so just be aware. Also a great place to just hang out and walk, I like that there’s a walkable path that leads you to Armature Works ✨

  • Zack Neward

Beautiful park with a nice view of downtown as a backdrop. Walking distance to armature works makes for a half day outside with the kids that isn't boring. Good restrooms, clean playground, picnic area, and there is even a nice dog park.

  • J M

Love the views, the simplicity, and the calm this park offers. I love going after dark, and just relaxing. This park is near the water and offers several views of Tampa such as the Straz Center, and lots of other well known landmarks!

  • Barrett Henry

One of the best parks Tampa has to offer. This park offers so many views and things to do. Tampa has come so far so fast and it's an incredible city that is only getting better every passing day! ✅ Views ✅ Pet friendly ✅ Free Parking

  • Orion Pax

Wow, what a wonderful place to visit. It was our first time coming here, and it was so worth it. Walking along the river was great. There was an amazing teal sculpture on the walk. We were able to see the water taxi going by. There

  • Stephanie R

My youngest had her 2nd birthday there. 2nd time at the park. It’s wonderful. The kids playground is huge and for all ages! The splash pad is great especially on these hot Florida days! The view is just beautiful! Love this park!

  • Deanna Morrow

This park is beautiful. There is a water play area for kids, covered picnic tables, sprawling grass areas, pickleball courts, all on the beautiful Hillsborough River with cool art fixtures and the city skyline as the backdrop!

  • Karla Jackson

What a wonderful addition to the riverfront. There are so many different recreation options that are free or low cost. I'm sure the, community center will be the site of many weddings, parties and meetings in the future.

  • Kenneth O'Rorke

Julian B Lane park is a very well designed public park with high end amenities that include a large splash park, large number of tennis court and two pickelball courts. The pickleball courts are ideal for daytime play.

  • James Hathaway

Great modern park. I have been involved in producing 2 events here. Splash pad and great zone for young ones. Apparently the boating program is the thing here. I'm from California and I have had a great time in Tampa.

  • Erica Brown

I'm about to move to Tampa from Columbia, SC and this is an awesome park. We've been place searching and just needed a place to hang while the kids played and we got stuff done and this definitely was the right pick!

  • Café con Karla

Great park to visit for a nice solo walk or to catch the water sprinklers with the kids. The views at this park are majestic, great for a bike ride or picnic on the green. They host fairs and concerts regularly too!

  • twnkly sinerella

Great views, not crowded, clean and plenty of seating with shade! The ice cream machine there wasn't functioning properly and the owner was prompt in fixing it within minutes. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend!

  • Michelle S

Absolutely love the splash pad at this park. Only negative thing about this park is whatever the pad and fake grass that the playground ground is made of gets suuper hot and burns your feet and no swings …

  • J B

Great place to relax, stoped just to open my laptop and do some work but ended up staying a while and taking it all in. Everyone was frendly and it had a bit for everyone, kids adults and everyone in between.

  • Jonathan Jensen Jr.

Great place to chill out and watch the river. There's cool art sculptures up and down the pathway as well as a pretty sizeable playground for kids. Restrooms were nice and clean which was really nice to see.

Beautiful lil park and just great for walking at night. Had a great time here taking photos and just relaxing. I didn’t snap a pic, but they have some swings by the water that are lovely!

  • A Bart

Great open spaces. Wide sidewalks. Some covered picnic table areas with grill. Playgrounds for young and older children (as old as 10 yrs still playing). Drinking fountains and bathrooms.

  • Annie L

It's a nice park with equipment for a broad range of ages. The splash pad is great, but the giant splash that happens when the bucket turns over is strong enough to knock toddlers down.

  • rbp.constructioninc

This park is amazing, such a beautiful place to visit
Playground
Great area for kids to play
Dog-friendliness
There is plenty of space for your God to run around and play.

  • Maribel Felipe
