Our 4 pets (2 cats and 2 dogs) all go to Kensington Vet (bonus: they give a discount to families with 4 or more pets) and we love the care they receive. We’ve been going to KV for approximately 3 years and don’t plan on switching anytime soon! The vets we’ve received care from (Gossard, Mason, and Seitz) are wonderful. They all have an incredible general knowledge, each has a specialty that allows you to get the care you want (including acupuncture!), and they consult one another about the best care plans. The techs are all intelligent and incredibly caring about our pets. And the reception team deserves sainthood for how they handle everyone’s (including my own!) craziness, the volume of people they see, and how quickly they can get you in and out. What I especially like is that their care isn’t limited to the actual appointment itself. They do follow-up calls and emails to see how your pets are doing, they are responsive over emails to help understand when a visit is needed or if something can be done at-home, they’re very communicative about upcoming appointments or when your wellness visits are due, and they even proactively coordinate with other vets and clinics to ensure your pet receives the best care outside of their own care. While most of our visits to KV have been routine (thankfully), one of our cats was attacked by a dog recently, and we ended up making 26 visits to Kensington Vet between August and November (in addition to hospitalization at an emergency clinic). So to say that we know what the KV team is like is an understatement! And there honestly wasn’t a single time in all the 26 visits that we didn’t receive the same love and care that I’ve written about above. I cannot recommend this team highly enough. We’re forever grateful to them!
I've been going to Kensington since I moved to San Diego in 1995. Dr. Ungar and her staff always treated me and my pets with the utmost respect and I felt like we were a team when it came to my pets health. Fast forward to the new owner and her policies. Annual physical exam on Thursday ($65) and then charged another limited exam fee of $57 the very next morning because my dog was being sedated for a foxtail removal that had been found less than 24 hours before. Misinformation placed in the vet records stating I declined x-rays, when that 100% was not the case. And then the front desk staff gets mad when I asked to talk to the doctor about that, stating the doctor does not make mistakes in the chart. If you miss a call from their dental scheduler, you'll be put on the bottom of the list. Blood results that were supposed to be provided prior to sedation weren't relayed. It's just one thing after another, and each thing just erodes my trust in their ability to communicate and care for my animals. When Dr. Ungar retired, I decided to find a new vet because I wasn't crazy about the new owner. Back in August I had to bring my boy in and thought the service was great, so I wanted to give them another chance. That was my biggest mistake. Stay away from Kensington Vet. Their customer service has completely disintegrated and you and your pets will be much happier being treated somewhere else.
In prep for our move to San Diego, I called three veterinary hospitals in the area based on my initial choices. I vetted these vet clinics by reviewing their websites and looked at reviews from others. Kensington was my #1 choice. I called twice and left a message. Their automated message stated they were not taking any new patients. I thought at minimum I'd get a call back. No call back. Once we got settled in San Diego, I called them back to see if their onsite groomer would at least take customers for a bath/cut. Again, no call back. They must be THAT busy and full since they can't return ANY calls. Move on from this business, if they can't do something simple as a call back.....imagine the kind of services they provide. I would recommend College Animal Hospital. You'll get to speak to a human. Her name is Danielle and she will take care of you. We've established pet care there and have enjoyed their team.
We got a brand new puppy and needed to schedule a veterinarian checkup. They booked us about 4 weeks out and mentioned nothing to us on how the visit would go. Fast forward a month, I rush home from work to make the appointment and we are greeted with a sign at the door telling us to text a number and a tech would call us back. After standing on the street we were told we would drop off our 5 month old puppy around back and they would call us back when the appointment was done. I have zero intention on leaving my brand new puppy with strangers I’ve only spoken with on the phone. I’m sure they’re a great practice but they could have saved me a lot of time and stress if they explained that I wouldn’t be able to accompany my best friend during his first vet visit.
Recently moved to this office from the Kearny Mesa vet office and the experience has been so much better all around. From the vet techs to the doctors, to the office and communication itself, I have no complaints. I've had a few routine checkups and a dental procedure here for my pet, and before/during/after each of those appointments, communication has been frequent, clear, and friendly. I also don't ever feel pushed to do anything that isn't necessary or that I'm being "upsold" like I have at other offices. My pet had one dental procedure before at a different vet and was messed up for a week or two with GI issues from the anesthesia they used. This time around, he recovered within a day with no issues. Really happy with my experience so far!
Kensington was our Vet until we moved a few miles away. We then worked with a couple other Vets in our new area and none could measure up. When our new Vet could not figure out what was wrong with our dog, we went back to Kensington where Dr. Seitz and staff quickly made a proper diagnosis. At such a crucial time we were grateful to have such a knowledgeable, compassionate pet hospital. I repeated questions, I asked for details, I kept calling and they promptly called back – every time. Not only did the vet techs call us lots of times, but the Doctor called us many times and practically held our hand through the whole process. If we ever have any more fur babies, KVH will be our Vets from start to…
When I got my dog, it was not easy to choose a vet. I got recommended Kensington Veterinary Hospital by some dog owners at the dog park so, I went for it. And I couldn't be happier. Always welcoming, very gentle with my dog. My dog is not even scared to go there! She knows she'll receive love and treats :D You can see they love animals and know how to handle them. What I particularly like is that they give you options on treatments, whatever you feel more comfortable with. They explain clearly, in details what's up and I never feel left in the dark. And they always check on the pet after an appointment to ensure everything is alright. We couldn't be happier to have found them!
By far the best vet we have ever been to! We had Dr. Anya Valdes. Our dog Grizz is a German Shepard/Rottweiler mix and is a nervous wreck at the vet. She actually took the time to get familiar with our baby and built a trusting relationship first. The vet we were at before told us within 2 minutes of meeting him that he needed to be sedated and with Dr. Anya Valdes there was no need for it! When I called to schedule an appointment I voiced my concerns and they were so helpful in making sure they would do everything I their power to make Grizz feel safe and comfortable. I am VERY happy with this place and would 10/10 recommend this vet.
My dog ran into a glass window and cut his leg. It was not life threatening, but it was more than we could deal with at home. This was the only place that would take my dog on the same day that he hurt himself! The staff was friendly and the doctor was professional. They explained what they thought was needed and gave us an estimate before we proceeded. The cost was a lot more than we expected, but our puppy has been taken care of and is recovering well, so we are glad we found this place.
I am a retired head vet tech, and I'm extremely picky of where I take my pets. I demand the same level of excellence from others that I demanded of myself. At Kensington, the quality of care (latest medical technology and practices, fantastic customer service, and genuine kindness and TLC shown each pet) is so hard to find all in one package. Top this off with some holistic services as well, and this is the very best place I can find in the San Diego area!
I was in San Diego for a graduation and my dog, Louis, had a hot spot that popped up almost overnight. I called around to almost every vet in the area and they were the only one who could get me in the same day. They took great care of Louis while he was there and got him all cleaned up. Dr. Ronai kept me updated throughout the entire stay and even followed up with me once we were back home. I would definitely use this vet again if they were in Dallas.
We have been clients for many years.. It was finally time to put our most dear oldest cat down, He was a special needs, they gave us huge help and support over theyears, and we're more than kind to us during the difficult moment. We are very grateful, the charges were very fair compared to many, and we truly appreciate that. Their follow up and kindness was extraordinary and helped us a lot emotionally. I'd recommend them as a top tier vet location.
Our Australian Shepherd, Moo, loves going to Kensington Veterinary Hospital. He has never been scared or anxious going in and feels right at home with Dr. Unger and all of the wonderful staff that works here. He loves all of them and is always excited to see everyone. They are fairly priced and we feel that they provide the best care for Moo and we completely trust them. They always have his best interest at heart.
Love, LOVE, Kensington Veterinary Hospital!!! They always treat my dog as if she was one of theirs...and she gets very excited when she sees everyone there. Several times I’ve called for an appointment at the 11th hour, and they always get me in. In case I haven’t mentioned it...I love, LOVE, Kensington Veterinary Hospital and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for the best vet care for their animal.
We have always had a wonderful experience at Kensington Vet. Everyone who works there is kind, helpful, polite, and professional. The doctors are fantastic, and we especially love Dr. Seitz and her amazing care! After over a decade of trying several different vet offices, we are so happy to finally find one that we completely trust (and we won't be leaving!). -The Family of Maddy & Luke Catwalker Shebby
Came recommended by several friends with pets- very sweet and caring staff and doctors. This was my first dog so I was nervous about finding a good vet but they have been great! Not pushy about selling you products or services that aren’t necessary. Reasonable cost but you can buy the basic medications (flea/tick and heart worm) cheaper online- but that seems to be true of all vets.
We have been taking our cats to them for several years. We have nothing but praise for Kensington Vet. We have have had to cats with special needs and they have helped us with them. We used to live with in walking distance but when we moved (about a 30 min drive) we kept our cats with them as we like their service that much. If you live in the are they are highly recommended.
Everyone that I’ve dealt with at Kensington Vet has been very professional, helpful, and caring. I’ve been taking my Cockapoo rescue there for the year that I’ve had him, and they always put his comfort and care first. Recently, Dr Ronai cared for my dog and he was outstanding: patient, thorough, and informative. I highly recommend this hospital!
The service here is wonderful. I never felt rushed at all; the vet and techs talked to and played with my cat, and made it seem like he was the only patient they had to see all day. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly, all my questions were answered, and even the cat had a (relatively) good time. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.
Everyone is kind and goes the extra mile for you. I took my dog Bobby, i felt so much care and love from them. I am very happy with their services and recommend Kensington Vet Hosp to anyone with pets. Prices are the best in my area when I shopped for Vets online. Bobby and I, love you. Thank you, you were a blessing for us.
Staff was friendly and patient with me and my dog Buddy. Dr. was above and beyond compassionate given my obvious state of disorientation and Buddy's apprehension. Indeed the transition from Arizona has been rough but this visit brought a sense of relief and comfort for both me and my dog. Much appreciated ☺️
From the front office staff, vet techs and all the doctors they are all caring and awesome to take care of my furbaby! Update now that we have been with Kensington Vet for over a year now and had the chance to meet all the doctors, they are all wonderful!! Honestly I can't say that one is better than the other!!
I have been going to Kensington Veterinary Hospital since they opened in either 1991 or 1992. Everyone there has taken wonderful care of my four golden retrievers during that time. I can't imagine going anywhere else to keep my dogs healthy and make them as comfortable as possible in their old age.
Very nice people, and although you would imagine they would have higher prices Kensington and all they don't they're very reasonable when you compare them to other places. I also have noted more thorough examinations and a higher level of competence overall. They seemed to genuinely care.
Not what it used to be. Different people, different vibes, and the people seem burnt out. My dog used to look forward to going, now hates it. Like they are terrified. I used to feel like my dog was put first but not anymore, now it seems to be more about the money here too.
I wasn't upsold on a bunch of unnecessary tests for my cat. Everything that she needed was explained to me before it was done and instructions for care after were explained as well. Staff was friendly and took very good care of my fur baby. Highly recommend.
One of the best vet experiences we’ve had. Very thorough, explained everything that was going on in a way we could easily understand, and you could tell that the doctor truly cared about my pets comfort and well being. I would absolutely recommend, 12/10!
I had two dogs, both made it to 18 years old with Kensington Vet taking care of them. I didn't hesitate when I adopted my bully Rizzo to continue with them as his vet. They have been great with him as well as he is now 8 years old and going strong.
Dr. Sise, Geena, Lynet and Paula and Destiny we're fantastic. Scooby couldn't have been in better hands. I was surprised that My Scooby cat responded so well to them and their caring attention. Very personable and informative pet care.
These guys are some of the best vets in all of San Diego. They are always very compassionate, thorough, and reasonably priced. I have been taking my pets there for over 25 years now and have never once had a bad experience.
The doctors here are great. Overall, this vet has changed in recent years. They don't provide some of the "concierge" services that they used to. Also will not do online prescriptions, except for their own online store.
They've taken care of our animals for 9+ years now. 3 dogs and 1 cat. They're a little pricey but you get what you pay for. The doctors and staff is very caring and attentive to your concerns and you're pets needs.
These people are great. They have take good care of my dog Rexx. I now that sounds so generic, but my previous vet was so rough and didn't have a good manner. All the staff have been so nice and Rexx likes them
I had outstanding service and had a wonderful Vet, Dr. Valdez. Everyone was caring and very gently with my cat. I finally found a place I can trust with my cats and know they will receive the best of service.
Great staff! Kept my family informed about the condition of our pet throughout the process of her surgery. Made sure we understood every aspect of her recovery and was there for all our questions throughout.
This vet is so caring and loving to your animals and your wallet. They will talk through all of your financial options and spend time with you to help you make a decision. So happy to have found this vet!
Staff is so friendly, dedicated and truly care about the animals. They are great about following up and ensuring your pet is getting the proper appointments. The office is also very welcoming and clean.
I have yet to find a kinder and more thorough vet office in San Diego. If it's even possible, it got better since the last time I went in 2020 as well. My cat doesn't get scared coming in, thank you ♥️
They always have provided us measured, honest advice for 15 some years we've been with them. Dr Seitz in particular is our favorite though we've seen all the Vets here and all are kind and competent.
I love KVH and Dr. Valdes. She is the best vet I have ever been to. She obviously cares, doesn't push services and is very knowledgeable. I'm so glad I left Bodhi and switched to KVH.
Best vet in San Diego. I've been taking my two cats here for over ten years. The vets are kind and knowledgeable. The staff are super friendly. I also love the grooming services.
We recently started frequenting Kensington vet hospital with a new kitten. We are happy with our experience thus far and feel like the staff is very dedicated to their patients.
Very personal service with excellent care and veterinary knowledge. The entire staff was kind and dedicated to taking the best care of our new puppy. The prices are reasonable.
Great place to bring your Pets. Docter is great and staff is amazing. Clean office too. Very compassionate. We found our new Vet for sure. Thanks for helping Milo get better!
Love how caring they are for my 13 year old Jeckyll. They have given me the one thing a pet owner wants with their pet...time. I cant thank Dr. Ungar enough.
The two receptionist were very rude to me and not very helpful next time I’ll read the reviews from previous people who had experience what I went through
Had a great experience. I took my dog Cori in today for a shelter check up and they were super nice. Will go back again. Would recommend this vet.
Love this clinic they are absolutely amazing and treat all animals and their owners with respect your pet will be treated as a family member!!!
Very knowledgeable staff, and Dr. Valdes is simply amazing. They take wonderful care of pets and ease the hearts and minds of their owners.
Dr Seitz is the best! The staff are always super friendly, and they're great with my cat who can be a grump (to put it mildly ). …
My first experience was a really good one. Paula was extremely nice and very helpful in taking care of us getting us up and running.
Kensington has a great staff. The Vets are caring and give you all your options. They also offer a veterans discount.
They are not accepting new clients which sucks because Emma was so friendly. Will update if anything changes.
This is the kindest, warmest , most caring place. I love taking my furry friend to visit these lovely people
The Vets are wonderfully caring, and the front desk staff is very helpful. They are wonderful with my cat!
The staff is always so welcoming, and make me feel like my animals are the cutest, smartest, they've seen!
We love this veterinary hospital. You can trust the doctors and staff here with your fury family members!
Por la forma en cómo trataron a mi cachorra en su primera visita, son grandes personas con los animales
New vet for new puppy. Could not be happier with the SUPER friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff.
This place is the best. Would recommend to anyone with a pet. Very caring group there. Thank you KVH!!
Staff is excellent...our groomer does an excellent job on our two dogs, Isabelle and Little Rascal. I
I love my vets! They are thorough, explain results clearly and take good care of my kitten …
Absolutely the best with my dogs. Especially my senior dog. They're honest and do quality care.
Adore the groomer!! My pups have never looked better and I trust them implicitly! Thank you!
The most kind and caring staff members - they take care of their patients and their owners!
My Veterinary service for 30 years, I don't know if they are taking any new patients.
They took such great care of my pup and she's loves everyone in that office already!!
