Update May 29/21 Owner and president called me as promised and made things right. Got my kamado big joe 3 this morning and it was delivered perfectly with no issues. Delivery people were super nice and friendly as well. Lyle has turned a very unpleasant ordeal into a happy ending on my end. Hopefully my experience with lack of communication will help other customers ordering online with kerrisdale taking the proper steps to avoid this in the future. I have no doubt your store is amazing and awesome with superb customer service and I know your online will follow suit. Thanks so much Original review. I've been having a very unpleasant and frustrating situation with kerrisdale lumber, I will leave a real, honest review as the reviews I have read are laughable at best as I have not experienced ANYTHING close to even sub par service. I ordered online a very expensive kamado joe tipping the scales at around 4000$ in March, website stated expected arrival in April, could be April 1st or the end of April or anywhere in between due to COVID, well April comes and goes and I recieve zero communication from kerrisdale, I would have at least expected a a email half way through April giving me information on my order, or at least the end of the month a email with some communication on my 4k purchase. Nope absolutely nothing. Now the 1st week of May passes and it's radio silence from kerrisdales end. I have to call them and ask for an update, after 10 minutes on the phone it's revealed my bbq is in a container in Vancouver and I will get more information during the week. Ok great at least there is some kind of update, week goes by... Nothing, 2nd week goes by NOTHING, no communication. ONCE AGAIN I have to call them to find out what's going on. I get told we will have to call you back... 10 minutes later I get a call... Your BBQ is here, you will get it in 3-4 days. Huh? It's being shipped and I haven't even set up a delivery date yet. I get told you will get a email about that... Ok so I assume it's going to be that day or the next..... WRONG, I got nothing, 5 days go by and I get a call from kerrisdale asking if I've " picked" up my bbq yet?? Is this a joke?? This can't be real. Is this your 1st time placing a online order kerrisdale lumber?? You didn't just fail that test, you didn't even show up for it. Then this is the kicker, my wife get a call today from shipping ( no email) saying it will be shipped out in a week or 2... ITS BEEN SITTING AT YOUR STORE FOR OVER A WEEK. I'VE PAID YOU OVER 2.5 MONTHS AGO. Then the shipper tells my wife " we are not Amazon" WELL KUDOS TO YOU KERRISDALE LUMBER YOU GOT 1 THING RIGHT IN 3 MONTHS. AMAZON YOU MOST DEFINITELY ARE NOT. YOU CAN DEFINITELY SAY THAT AGAIN. GET A SIGN AND PUT THAT ON YOUR FRONT DOOR. The owner/president etc should be absolutely embarrassed about this. I have zero faith that you can even deliver my 4k BBQ properly. Shame on you.

This has got to be our favourite lumber store. They have a huge variety of high-end BBQs, garden accessories, and I particularly like the kitchen department. In fact, our building purchase an expensive commercial BBQ from them. We needed something simple today, and it appears they have it, a very helpful person guided us to the exact locations of the items we were looking for. The checkout experience is not so good and it accounts for the taking off 2 stars. We walked up to the payment counter and saw a notice explaining that they have a new software system and the cashiers are in training. After ringing in our stuff, we were asked two questions which we found highly alarming. First question was "What is the last four digit of your credit card number?" I quickly said "none of your business" because I prefer to use the more secure Apple Pay which obscures my actual credit card number. The second question was "What is the expiry date?" and to that I said "no way you can enter that information in your system". The conversation wasn't actually as aggravated as it sounds here, the cashier was actually very understanding all the way, saying that the transaction will not go through without those very private data. That's the thing, who asks these questions anymore? And most importantly, would I believe that this local lumber store has future proof security firewalls and measures that will prevent someone hacking into their system? The credit card tap system was invented so that customers can hang on to their credit cards and not have to hand the credit card over to a wait person. Aarg... Although I would really love to spend half a day buying stuff for my kitchen from this store, I cannot go back until I know for sure that their check out system is going to be a simple tap not requiring to store my private credit information. Five stars for the store, five star for helpful people at the store, 1 star for the new check out software.

Update May 28, 2021 The President was kind enough to call and discuss my concerns outlined in my original review below. I truly believe they are trying but suffering from the growing pains of a small company selling online during the worst possible time. A global pandemic that has challenged even the biggest companies supply lines and simultaneously seen an explosion in online shopping. For the reach out effort of the President and owner, I'm adding two more stars. I will only correct one thing in their response. When I ordered there was no mention of this being a special order of any kind. The product was available as my call to them the next day confirmed. Original review: Horrible online buying experience but one star goes to the pleasant person I talked to on the phone that tried to be helpful. Minus 4 stars for the dismal lack of progress in actually getting an order out their door. Ordered a Kamado Joe Classic III BBQ on May 19. At $2300 its not cheap as far as BBQs go. Called the next day to see what their expected shipping time would be. Told probably next Wednesday (May 26). Okay, but not impressed with the speed of service at this point. Called again on May 27 to see what is happening. Supposedly it's being brought upstairs tomorrow (May 28) to prep for shipping but no actual promise that it will ship. So, for nine days it sits around their operation before they bring it upstairs to prep for shipping?? Is this a comedy? I'm told they have new people in shipping. So? Anyone that has ever been in business knows that is an excuse used by management that fails to take ownership of the problem. Kerrisdale is happy to take your money but less effective in providing the product. Dismal customer experience indeed.

I bought a BBQ - Fuego Element - the last august 14th. Kerrisdale Lumber Home are one of the few who import them to canada. I'm happy they do it because Fuego make good products. However, ordering online is all about the logistics and it was - is - not good. It took 5 business days to prepare the shipping. That's pretty slow by today standards. I received a tracking number the august 21th with an estimated date of august 23th. The company who handle the shipping is Day & Ross. Today is august 23th, I spoke with them this morning because the package is still in AB (I'm from QC). After some confusion on their side they told me I have the wrong tracking number ! 2 digits misplaced (53 instead of 35). So I was basically following the order of somebody else. That is something it just never happen when ordering online. From the beginning the estimated date for my package is august 28th and I'm at home today for no reason at all. All that is part of the experience when ordering online. 2 weeks is slow and I'm still not sure I will receive the package the august 28th giving the not glorious reputation of Day & Ross.

I was originally looking through various retailers for a Weber BBQ and came across their website. I have now purchased the BBQ and a Napoleon fire table through Kerrisdale Lumber and both times they have been great to deal with. Pricing was as competitive as anywhere else I looked, and I was able to get a natural gas conversion and covers at the same time which was convenient. Scheduling delivery was very straightforward with good communication on exactly when the units would arrive with their own trucks, not a third party service. They provided a window and then a further update when they were 45 minutes away which is great as I do not live close to their store so it's nice to be able to not just sit around all day waiting for the items to arrive. I have only ordered through the website, but both times received phone calls and follow-ups on the orders, updating about a backorder on cover and the level of service you normally wouldn't expect with online orders. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kerrisdale Lumber to anyone and I will certainly order again in the future.

Shopping should be more than a business transaction. It should be about a relationship where you feel your buying experience matters. Kerrisdale Lumber consistently demonstrates this. Over the years we have purchased a bbq, patio heater, lighted trees and more. No matter which associate we worked with the experience was positive. Last week we wanted to buy a fire pit for our patio and a cooler. Not sure which cooler would fit in our car Mike came out to our car with coolers in hand. Chose one however wrong colour. Mike said he would see if it could be ordered. Few days later he let us know he found an orange one and put it aside. Mike also helped with an element fire pit purchase. He estimated 4 weeks. Less than a week later he called to say he had it for us. Helped load it in our car and offered to loan a dolly. ( free delivery also offered. ) Mike, as with all the staff demonstrate a personable and professional service. Thank you. P.S Fire pit was enjoyed last night.

Nice selection of merchandise on display! Since they have a planned move coming up they have some nice goodies on sale for 60% off. I'm absolutley thrilled with the vintage look picture frame i picked up, looks nice on my wall. Will look even better with a picture of a beloved relative in it. It is definitely the go to place to find everything you ever need to see or know about BBQ"s...staff are very knowledgeable which os a huge help. The store now is not really conducive to wheelchairs, its well packed with goodies as well as there is a small step at the front door. There is lots of street parking all the times that i have stopped in, but it must get busier towards the days end. But it's a really nice local store to shop in that you can feel comfortable to browse & ask for assistance if necessary. Thank you for hiring people who still know the meaning of customer service.

In the midst of Covid, glad to have supported a local shop. Not aware of their excellent online ordering through the lower mainland, I had called in asking what their turn around time is on delivery. After having a horrible experience at Lowe's, where it's been 3 weeks and I still have no idea where my order is, and can't even get a hold of anyone at Lowe's. I called Kerrisdale Lumber inquired about item availability, and when they can deliver. I spoke with Mike who said that item is in stock and they can have it delivered the next day. Not only did they call me in the morning to give me a proper estimated time they'd deliver, they were also able to help us drop the item off on our patio. So support local, price was the same as what I was trying to order anyway, and service was night and day better then one of those big box places.

After living in the neighborhood for many years and more than a few visits into Kerrisdale Lumber, we have decided to wave the white flag and take our business elsewhere. The attitude of a number of the staff there on many occasions has left us bewildered to the point of deciding to write a review such as this. The poor service was crowned off today with a most unhelpful gentleman who sent us packing to solve our problem with a "we can't help you" go-away-don't-bother-us attitude that left me speechless. Rather than bother going back again for another dose of KL, we will simply just go elsewhere. Disappointing as they seem to have nice stuff., just not so nice people. Some are nice enough but we've just had one too many experiences to the negative. Oh well, as we consumers can, we will vote with our feet.

I recently bought a Napoleon BBQ from Kerrisdale Lumber. When I entered the new store on West Boulevard the staff were friendly and helpful. They have a solid health and safety protocol in place that made me feel comfortable shopping during Covid-19. I met Chris in the BBQ section. He has a very strong knowledge of BBQs and BBQing. After 10 minutes of discussions I decided on a BBQ. He told me the BBQ was in stock in their other warehouse and that he would have it delivered promptly. He then followed up with a delivery date which was last Wednesday. I received a call on Wednesday morning from the delivery team saying they would be by between 9 and 10. The Drivers arrived on time. They were friendly, presentable and careful in and around my house. I am thrilled with my BBQ and will use them in the future.

Best Shopping Experience in Vancouver! Absolutely outstanding experience shopping at Kerrisdale Lumber this fall. I had several items I was interested in picking up. The store is bursting with sensational products, so I asked an associate to help me locate a more obscure item. Two staff members showed me the piece and explained the features. The other item was out of stock. Staff directed me to Alejandra, the buyer for the store. Alejandra quickly arranged a Special Order for the item to bring it in for me. Then, she went ABOVE and BEYOND to arrange special delivery to our home. Every time I interact with this store, I receive enthusiastic, respectful, CAN DO service. Kerrisdale Lumber's courtesy is so thoughtful, I feel more like a friend visiting the store than a customer.

I have been a loyal KL customer for over 55 years. I recently bought a Weber meat temperature probe that had a wifi logo on it and was told that it worked with my iphone. When I downloaded the app it would not connect because the device was not actually a wifi device. I returned it to exchange it for the correct iGrill Mini product. They would not give me a refund. They said “no” because they said small parts were missing. These parts were not in the original packaging i purchased. It was never out of the package. It was just as I received it. I paid for the new device and other items. Still no refund. Really disappointed. KL is losing a lifelong customer over at $28 purchase. No trust. Poor service. No responsibility for selling me the wrong item in the first place.

In store sales experience was nice. Paid for the order fine but found I had to wait to have it shipped from Langley and would be able to pick it up the next day. The next day, two hours after they said they would call me I tried to call them to find the status. 3 calls and more than an hour on hold no response. For a store that purportedly prides them selves on customer service, I don't see it. Don't shop here unless you can carry it out of the store yourself same day. Finally got a hold of someone and found out it was delivered to the store and assembled despite the fact I specifically asked for it to be in box. Thanks for ruining it Kerrisdale Lumber. I tried to support local but turns out these ones aren't competent.

This was my first experience with Kerrisdale Lumber, and it won’t be my last! I was in town running errands and wanted to pick up a bunch of soil before heading back to Bowen Island. I showed up 2 mins before closing and the staff at the service desk were amazing. I explained how I didn’t need to shop but just wanted to grab ten bags of soil and they were so kind and rang me through and even helped me load it all up. I was back on the road driving to the ferry at 6:03pm. They could’ve easily turned me away but instead they went above and beyond and provided a friendly and memorable first experience. The store looks gorgeous, so I’ll absolutely be making this one of my staple go-tos for the future.

Recently purchased a home on one of the Gulf Islands and wanted an outdoor kitchen. Having bought BBQs at Kerrisdale Lumber, they were my first choice. I got amazing service helping plan what worked best for me and how to design and outfit. Indeed they even steered me to a less expensive options when they understood my needs and wants. They kept me well informed throughout the shipping process so I could coordinate with Contractors on site. And because they do more than just BBQ’s I was able to coordinate my planing with infrared and gas heaters. I even picked up great sets of glasses and table settings! A first class experience! Excellent customer service both over the phone and in person at Kerrisdale Lumber. I called to check stock of a particular item and was pleased to speak with a salesperson named Graham who took the time to find the single remaining Weber Q in blue for me. It was the display model, and upon my arrival a short while later it had already been put aside for me ready to purchase. Graham assisted me in choosing some accessories for the BBQ and helped me carry everything out to my vehicle after the purchase. I don't live anywhere near Kerrisdale Lumber, but I will definitely return for the outstanding products, beautiful new store, and superb customer service.

Awesome service and deal! Looked for a Master Built Gravity Fed Charcoal smoker for a long time. No where (including Amazon) had it discounted for Black Friday BUT I stumbled across Kerrisdale Lumber. They did have a discount AND stock. Delivery arrived within the time window quoted and the delivery guys were ROCKSTARS! They took care with the item and my house. I wish Kerrisdale Lumber was closer to Maple Ridge so that I could shop with them regularly for my hardware needs. I love the family aspect of their business and focus on customer service that is sometimes lacking at big box home stores. Thanks again guys!!!!

I ordered a Pizza Oven that I had lots of difficulty tracking down at other retailers across Canada. Kerrisdale Lumber was super easy to deal with. After I placed my online order, I realized that there was another item I wanted to add on and simply called their customer service department. They arranged for the store to add it to my order, and made sure that it was included when it was shipped in Alberta. Shipping was fast (ordered on a Sunday and received in Alberta on Wednesday) and the products were as described. Overall I am very happy with the customer service and would recommend.

Awesome customer service, great selection, great deals. I purchased a high-end BBQ from these guys at a great deal. Customer service was very knowledgeable and friendly. Prompt to respond and were very accommodating. They always got me the answers to my questions, no matter how obscure and never once did I feel pressured into buying. Shipping department was very quick as well, and my massive 500lb BBQ arrived from Vancouver to Edmonton in about 2.5 days. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the level of support I received. Kerrisdale Lumder is a great place to just visit and see what they have in store but if your there to shop they have everything you can possibly want or need, and if you cant find it they are sure to get it for you. It has been nothing but a delight from the moment I walked into the store to lighting up the Napoleon prestige pro 665 grill & staying warm with company under the Napoleon patio heater. Stopped in here to buy a couple items today and I only had a $50 bill on me. My purchase came up to be around $14. When I tried to pay, the girl behind the counter goes, "I don't have enough money in my till to break this because we just did our cash out." It was 2:30 in the afternoon. Store is supposed to be open till 5:30. Don't know how they run this business if they turn customers away because they don't have $35 worth of change in their till. Been in retail a long time and I have never turned a customer away like that. I will not be returning there.

Purchased Napoleon BBQ from them. Model sold was a floor model as they had no other ones in stock. Couple of months after purchase, the grill caught fire after only 4 or 5 uses. Contacted Napoleon - they were of no help. Contacted store, and they asked me to send in all the details - never heard back from anyone in their service/support with any help in dealing with Napoleon warranty. Spend $1700 on a grill that lasted couple of months. Purchased new grill from another vendor - would not go back to Kerrisdale due to poor customer service and support.

A couple of weeks ago I snuck over to Kerrisdale Lumber to see what they had for bbq collection. Reason being my bbq of 6yrs had died .. and much to my surprise there were many to choose from. Quite the show room .. from condo patio sizes, tie home sizes to our door kitchen selections. I settled for a nice Broil King 40,000 BTU bbq .. what a great replacement. And here’s the best part (nominal fee) ... a few days later it was built and delivered to my home (and my old bbq was pulled away). Thanks all Darryl Vancouver

I know it is confusing but this is Ace Hardware and it is full of cool fancy and difficult to find pieces of hardware and housewares. The lumber portion of the store is now split from the store and is located on Marine Drive and Oak. You can see it when you cross the bridge. I took a star off since pricing generally is a bit more expensive. You get slightly better selection than Home Hardware on Dunbar bit prices slightly higher. Cheap place to get keys cut at $2.99 at time of posting. Most places are now $3.49.

Home Depot fu*k me but I'm so grateful I had Kerrisdale make the experience a whole lot better, so I thank you. I ended loosing thousands $ but Kerrisdale Lumber had the alternative I needed and their amazing customer service was the cherry on top. Expensive lesson learned, but always support local business when you can, the experience and support is priceless. The only complaint I have, is they do not take American Express. I can't wait to make more purchases through you. Please keep up the great job.

Kerrisdale Lumber Home store stocks the most beautiful home products. They carry all my favorite lines, from Tag linens and mats, to Umbra home decor, to Puddifoot glassware. I recently found gorgeous plastic glassware there for outdoor use (wish they would consider opening a marine section too) and frequent their kitchen section for their great selection of cooking equipment and gadgets. Whenever my parents are in town, this is one of the first places my mother insists upon visiting. Love it!

Our shopping experience at Kerrisdale Lumber was fantastic. Went in looking for some Farrow and Ball paint for our front door. However, they did not have any in stock so we decided to order the paint online. Delivery was quick, and well packed. Finished front door ended up looking great! The store itself was very nice…full of stuff but very well organized. I especially liked the outdoor living area where they had rows upon rows of BBQ’s - it was absolutely stunning.

We received excellent service when we enquired about purchasing a BBQ. We didn't feel pressured or rushed to make a decision, and when the one we selected was not available in the store, we were given a special code to have it shipped to our home in Kamloops. Then we changed our mind, and upgraded to a better BBQ and this too was dealt with professionally and smoothly. I would recommend this store for their service and attention to detail. Great customer service.

They also offer upscale dishes, candles, door mats, and seasonal household goods - even cards for special occasions. Their selection of barbecues & BBQ accessories is one of the best in the lower mainland. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. A great local place. Prices are competitive. This is the best lumber store on the Westside. They have a fantastic BBQ section. Tools, and household supplies besides the lumber side. Highly recommend this place great customer service. If they don't have it they will tell you where it's available or better yet get it for you. The Farrow and Ball paint store is a branch of The company . One the most important reasons for going there is they remember you, personal service is tops.

Walked into this store the first day I moved to the new neighbourhood. Literally said "Dan I'll be saving my cash tips so you don't know what I spend here". They also had like literally my ideal trash can. It cost $129. I couldn't justify $129 on a trash can. But it was literally the best trash can I saw all day and I went to a lot of stores. Dan also spent a ridiculous amount of time coveting their bbqs.

I ordered a Birthday present online for my brother who lives in Canada (I'm in Australia) and Naomi couldn't have been more helpful if she'd been sitting beside me! I saw at least six employees and only wo customers. Two lady staff members were chatting, and when I asked them a simple question they kind of gawked at me and quickly passed me on to two other staff members which were chatting to each other. I ignored that response and found the product I was looking for by myself. A nice setup but staff need more training in my opinion on customer service .

The posted info didn't have all the detail I wanted so I phoned the store and spoke to the fireplace guy and he told me everything I needed top know to make the purchase so really good. Shipping was a bit of a pain. They ship Overland West which has a depo in town but not shown anywhere on any site. Finally phoned the Price George off ice to find out the local depo to phone to get delivery.

Great place to spend an afternoon. Lots of unique housewares. You can find everything from seasonal pillows, to barbecues, and high end paint. We ordered our Farrow and Ball paint from Kerrisdale Lumber and had the best experience with the sales associate. She even saved us some money by recommending then hand mixing a cost effective base coat. Would recommend this unique hardware store.

Bought a Weber barbecue and the service on the sales side and delivery side couldn’t have been better . Very knowledge and put us in the right barbecue for our needs . The delivery crew couldn’t have been better. Told us 10 and they showed up at ten . Attached the tank for us, cleaned the lid and side trays. Couldn’t believe that kind of service. We certainly would not buy anywhere else

I ordered a firepit, and it was delivered sooner than I expected which was a pleasant surprise. Problem was when I got it, it was the wrong one. As soon as I called, not only did they come back late in the day with the correct one, they assembled it for no charge. Pleasant people. Outstanding customer service. There's no doubt I will purchase what I need from Kerrisdale Lumber again.

I used Kerrisdale's website to order a Weber grill. Subsequently, it was damaged when it arrived. Kerrisdale replaced it with a new one and sent a shipping label to return the damaged model. I took off one star as there were some miscommunication issues during the return process. Their communication wasn't as timely as I prefer, but they did eventually fix everything.

Not what it use to be unfortunately. Went in on the weekend too get some supplies for my renovation, and while I eventually got most things, I did feel harassed as I was walking around the bbq and fireplace areas. Wasn't appreciative of the high pressure sales and someone following me around. Use to be helpful and nice. It's not that anymore Won't be going back

My first experience about 5 months ago here was good, possibly very good. I have told people to go there. But it seems that my friend recently got a discount AND free delivery and set up? They got the same grill and it was like $400+ cheaper. Seems slimy sales practices. Like a car dealership. Not all customers the same I guess, or depends who you talk to?

Kerrisdale lumber has the worst customer service.They do not honour their warranty on their products. They do not care about customer. I have been waiting for over six months for warranty work, but no one shows up to look after it. They keep promise to show up and never do. I will never purchase anything from them and do not recommend them to anyone.

When CoVID issues made it impossible for these folks to fulfill my prepaid order with them within a reasonable period of time, they replaced all four items with better items, but at the original price. I've used Kerrisdale Lumber for years. They provide excellent service every time.

I was scouring the net for a deal on a Wolf countertop oven and Kerrisdale Lumber had them in stock and on sale for $50 less than Best Buy. Bought my Weber grill from here. They said for 100 bucks they could assemble it and deliver it to me. When they came, the delivery people were very punctual, friendly, and knowledgeable. They took the grill up to my patio (in a condo) and hooked it up to the tank, showing me how to use the features. I was extremely impressed!

Great prices, friendly helpful staff. But 4 stars because the pay till is usually understaffed with a lineup and the till operator has to answer phones or choose who is more important. A contractor told me he has to put up with this lineup along with the casual retail folk. Whats up with that?

Soooo .... it's no longer possible to buy lumber, in Kerrisdale, at Kerrisdale Lumber. Really wish they'd not opted for this new business structure. You can still buy kitsch for your house's entryway on West Blvd, but if you need a 2x4, you're driving to 76th & Hudson. May as well drive to HD.

While I enjoy the courteous service by the staff I was taken aback by the suggestion of using the bathroom at Save-on-food instead. It is unprofessional to divert the responsibility to another business entity because you do not want to maintain a bathroom accessible to customers due to Covid.
