"A hidden gem"
I visited this historic site yesterday and learned about one of the most important men in our nation's history...and I had never heard of him!!! Rufus King was a man of principles and integrity. He spoke 6 languages and amassed a personal collection of more books than the Library of Congress at the time. And he was a staunch, very outspoken advocate against slavery, as were his two sons. It was an honor to visit his home and see his personal desk, as well as some of his own books. Many interesting artifacts in the home. There is no charge to visit, but a reservation is preferred so they may assure a guide is available. Fox and Michael were our guides. There were only two of us. Both gentlemen were a wealth of knowledge. Michael was able to answer any question I had. So impressive. I would encourage everyone to visit because I do think they need our support. The house is supposed to be maintained by Parks and Rec, but they haven't done a very good job and there are many needed repairs. We were told that both the Painters' Union and the Carpenters' Union have stepped up to help out pro bono, but they have ongoing needs. Any and all donations are so appreciated. My tour mate and I both made a donation and Michael seemed genuinely thrilled. Please support this very important place that is a part of our nation's history.

I visited today for the first time ever. My tour guide, Mike, was the best part. He was knowledgeable about every single thing asked about. A person shows when they have a passion for their subject. I was impressed! Rufus King is an important part of American Revolutionary War history and seeing his Farm Manor House up close was a treat. The kitchen, the study, the bedroom and all the rooms had beautiful detailing and are true to the time periods. There are many original works within. It is worth the time to go visit. $5 entrance fee and you need to sign up beforehand. There was one COVID tracing form to complete.
We had the priveledge of having a private tour because we were the only ones there that day. It was nice being able to ask all the questions we wanted and to have all the attention. My children love visiting museums and old historic homes to learn about how people lived years ago compared to today. These are trips that we treasure as a homeschooling family. I can't believe I grew up in Queens and did not know about a lot of these places that have been around for decades. I'm grateful that they are being taken care of and preserved for future generations to come.
I have frequently visit this local, small but informative, cute museum with my campers over the years...this is my first summer going 3x bc the children enjoyed the 30min sessions and the 2nd fl was renovated and open for the public. So, I was able to interact with different staff who were all very professional, patient with my children and informative. If your a queens resident swing by King Manor museum when you can. They also do workshops and programs for the children in the area.
A hidden gem. If you can ignore the rough park the museum sits in, you'll be treated to a truly historic, and enlightening experience. I made a reservation the day before. This interesting character "Fox" gave me a tour. He lives in the upper floor. His enthusiasm is very apparent. It was wonderful that it was free.

This museum is a great place. It's in the middle of busy Jamaica Avenue, but it has lots to offer. The tour is 30 mins however I was the only one there at the time and stayed for over an hour. The staff was amazing and answered all my questions. The cost was free but I gave a small donation and took some free gift cards! Overall I would highly recommend visiting this museum and supporting the staff for the work they do.
Surprisingly well preserved and beautifully curated museum. There are lots of pieces donated directly from the descendants of the family. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of details bout individual rooms and the Kings family. There were no other visitors, so we had as long as we wanted to look around and take pictures.

This wonderful and historical oasis. Full of rich history, it's absolutely necessary that one finds the time to visit this gem that's hidden in Jamaica, Queens I have lived across the street from King Manor since I was a kid. I remember the Manor, when it was crumbling, there were holes in the roof. Thank you so much to the person, or individuals who are responsible for the beautification, and rebirth of this place.
In the park area outside of the museum, you can find a diverse group of people playing soccer, families playing with their children, and also some homeless friends in need of help. I'm the summer time, there are concerts on the grass where everyone enjoys a great time together. This park has a great family feel to it. It's also a popular meeting spot for couples and individuals looking to people watch.
It is comfortable for relaxing, studying, reading, and exercising. Especially during the summer it is better than the library because you set your own space to do your things. In contrast, the library gives a person access to computer and among other things, but it is not a peaceful place. So l usually take the initiative to go the park to find a peaceful area to fo things.
A beautifull park surrounded with plenty of shops to buy beverages or sandwiches and eat them while sitting on a bench in the park and enjoying the picturesque view . Also a good option for performing some morning activity or even having a walk . The park includes an artificial grass area for football matches only needs some gym equipment around and more regular cleaning .
This is an 18th century gem in the middle of Jamaica. It's amazing that this structure has lasted in pretty good condition. The exhibition rooms are well set up. We had a tour with a very knowledgeable and responsive docent. Worth the trip

Love King Manor Museum! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Great tours, events for families and a true place to find yourself in a piece of American history. Highly recommended. For those who posted negative reviews that is the park and not the house. Two separate entities and KMM has clean facilities. Ignore the low star ratings.
Its a nice park.Plenty of benches and trees all around.Alot of drinking goes on in the park which stopped open barbecueing, fights would break out.Thats really sad in such a beautiful park. And alot of dogs,i would'nt sit on the grass. But its nice, sometimes bands come out.Plenty of stores around.
A great Museum.Very large in area.Staff are very hospitable and supportive. It is also a great historical place to Visit because it was a home of Rufus King.He was also a senator of New York. One of signer of the constitution of United States of America. So every American should visit this place.
Really cool piece of history sitting in the middle of a busy urban area. It's nice to step back in time in the middle of Jamaica, Queens. Great staff.

There is nothing better than walking in the past right in your own backyard. The docents are all so knowledgeable and passionate educators. Every First of the month they have something fun to do and twice a year King Manor hosts a festival that makes History come alive.
I love this animal farm/museum..I really enjoyed myself there.i highly recommend this place Best part about this is that, it's free and right here in the city. Who would thought NYC would have animal farm for free .God bless America . love new York.... a must Visit ..

Oh, this museum is so much fun! They let you walk around and see all the different rooms. And there are plenty of activities to do outside, before the tour starts. And I'm remembering correctly, it's all free unless you want to buy a souvenir.
Great place to visit. Free guided tours with knowledgeable guides. Awesome place to bring young students to learn some of New York and American History. If you're a tourist I would highly recommend said place.

It's an intriguing historical piece of land and the tour for the museum was nice. The tour guide was nice and she did her job well. The house is beautiful and I'm surprised I just went into it since I've lived in queens my whole life
This is an amazing place that few people know of. Rufus King signed the constitution and went against the machine as a white many by abolishing slavery which cost him in 4 elections, 2 for President and 2 for VP. Bravo Rufus King!
Great guide who showing us around. Appreciate her effort to tell the story of the house. Very interesting.

Bathroom filthy and too much homeless laying around. Also drugs in the place and lots of alcoholics. Would not recommend you to take your kids.
Great place to learn local history and experience new things. Definitely worth a trip. Free admission and tours. Great place to take kids 5+
Great place... Park's huge...kids will have fun...but the field is too much crowded...try to get here earlier to take the place in field...
It doesn't let you go inside unless you do a appointment I don't know what it's called but I've looked outside and there's a lot of events
