Let me begin to say that I am the person to least put any effort to give any reviews but the acts done upon my visit today was absolutely astonishing! I was serviced by a working member of La Monarca in Boyle Heights and he was the greatest. Not only can he hold a great conversation, his skills are outstanding and the fact that he went out of his way to treat us to some samples of the famous "wedding cookies" when they were not on display, he made sure we didn't leave the shop before trying them. He deserves a great recognition and I hope they are noticing his great work there. Over all other locations I've visited, although the farthest from me, I will surely return to this spot in the future! Thank you so much LUIS! -From John and Kimberly (02/22/2019)
I was at their other location in S Pasadena and had a pleasant experience. Wanted to try this specific location because building exterior was so appealing! It’s located right across the Mariachi Plaza with cool murals around it. Since the bakery has wide and tall windows facing the plaza, you can get a pretty view while sipping their Latin style coffee drinks. Their service was amazing, quiet and spacious enough. You can sample their cakes (wish I knew that sooner), and oh boy, they have good selection of Latin style pastries, cakes, cookies, drinks, and organic cocoa beans and coffee beans (smelled amazing..!!) I got their tres leches latte and it was good. It was sweeter on the bottom part, make sure you stir/shake it.
The conchas were fresh. The coffee and hot chocolate were delicious. The location is convenient. The service was quick and friendly. Plenty of seating. Clean bathroom. There was a guy outside leading a tour who was spouting off about the place being a bad actor guilty of gentrifying Boyle Heights. To my eye, the place had young people from the neighborhood working there, was attracting customers from the neighborhood and contributing to the vibrancy of the neighborhood. Seems like the tour guide didn't believe the neighborhood deserves that kind of business. He was wrong.
Had never been here. Decided to try it out after a visit to the vet down the street. It was real nice inside. Had seating available. They didn't rush me to order and they were very friendly. The coffee was great! I like that it wasn't overly sweet like some of the other places that have flaored coffee. It was almost the perfect amount of coffee and sweetness where you don't lose both. Would definitely recommend trying this place out.

I have been to the cesar chavez and the one on Mariachi Plaza. They have the worst customer service both places. I try to support small businesses but I'm going back to Starbucks. Plus the real conchas you can find conchas at your nearest panaderia. The bread.here is americanized this place is not mexican authentic at all.

This is my favorite coffee spot in CA. First of all, Parchment BLVD is a very peaceful road in general. The outdoor and indoor seating makes you feel at home compared to many other coffee shops. The food is delicious for a cafe and not terribly priced. The only complaint I would have is the WIFI is not superb. I try to come here if I only will read or not use the Internet at all. Or if you have a hot spot you will be fine. Best coffee shop in CA.
Purchased a Rosca de Reyes through Uber Eats from this location, worst decision. Item was stale and dry. The dough was not prepared properly or left to rise correctly as it was dense and flat. Not worth it. Bolillo would have honestly tasted better, and it would have been cheaper too. Please spend your money on mom and pop shops that can do better, not at La Moarcha Bakery. Side note, the baby Jesús was taller than the Rosca...
Faux Mexican cafe bakery. The stereotypical music gets on your nerves quickly. The coffee is decent and priced like a big chain coffee shop. They also have Mexican pastries, quiche, juices and other snacks to compliment your coffee. I got a chocolate concha for 90 cents. Seating is good with a few quirky spots. Fills up quickly. 15 min parking next to shop. I'll come back, the latte was fine.
Extremely dissatisfied with this place, they have no cakes and will not send my order to another location. Why let people order if you don’t have the cake? Why not offer a better solution? Why don’t you know anything about when your inventory will come in? Telling me to call back multiple times for a solution. Messy business.
I loved my experience my daughter loves cominghere. They are very friendly and the guy with glasses Jose I think, and the lady with the glasses behind the counter gave my son a cookie when he was being fuzzy. Love the hot chocolate and horchata drinkthere. Going tomorrow for more.
Visiting LA from Seattle, I was resigned to the prospect of sub-par coffee, but then I found this gem! Their espresso is flavorful without being burnt, and they have a wide variety of delicious pastries. My only regret is that I didn't stay long enough to try them all!
My special occasion bakery. So what if the conchas are 30 cents more expensive? Fresh made croissants, tasty espresso drinks (horchata & tres leches latte). Liked the dulce de leche cake for the fresh whip & moist crumb. And they sell single origin Oaxacan dark roast.
Everything here is extremely delicious! The con has r amazing the croissants everything is made fresh and the wheat bolillos are very good! Their Fortas are extremely delicious!!! You can get a full torts half or even try several in small pieces it’s so good …
I stayed at a hostel across the street from here earlier this year, and went there to eat with friends for a week straight. The staff is awesome, they knew our names and didn't fuss when we carried a friend into the shop in a bike bag. The pastries are on point!!!
Wonderful experience at this bakery. Drinks were delicious, specifically the oatchata latte! Pastries were devine and fresh! Favorites taquito de guava and dulce de leche. Service was excellent and parking was easy to find. Definitely a must try!
Amazing! We ordered a guava slice of cake and a horchata slice of cake both cost 4.50 per slice and we're tremendous! Horchata was more creamy custard and sweeter than the guava which was fluffy light and more refreshing. We also bought two
I happened to get off the metro at Mariachi plaza and noticed the beautiful and historical building behind me. As I walked in I was pleasantly surprised to find this cute coffee shop. I purchased some pastries to go. I love their cookies.
I’m sure the food is good but this rating is mostly based on the parking. Unless you live around there, parking is almost non existent (unless you pay $5 a block away). I don’t recommend this location if you have to drive far to get here.
The place is pretty and clean, I was excited to try there conchas and champurado. The conchas are okay its missing flavor . I was looking to replace gallo giro sadly I won't be back to la monarca. The champurada was bland and the worst
Fresh, delicious pastries, friendly staff, and gorgeous cakes in a historic buildng in Boyle Heights, overlooking downtown Los Angeles - it all adds up to a great coffeehouse! I was particularly impressed by how La Monarca is a
I am a huge fan of the this place but I was super disappointed when I sent my son to pick up a cake for my husband's bday...I'm no cake expert but this looks nothing like the pic online I think its been sitting too long... …
Fresh, friendly and tasty. We ordered two oat-chata cold brews in two separate orders: one was topped with cinnamon and had a perfect balance of oat-chata and cold brew, the other had no cinnamon and was majority oat-chata.
Absolutely love this place. Had the Cafe Oaxaca and it blew my mind. The richness of the chocolate with the perfect blend of espresso. Everything great should be. This coming from an ex Starbucks employee. …
The staff was very nice. I got a free cookie after I told the cashier that it was my first time visiting. The place was clean and smell like coffee haven. I had there mole sandwich and i definitely recommend it.
The very best place to go and have delicious coffee. The best dessert! I love it when I'm in the area I always stop by and get something! Nice and clean place Those roscas look bomb! …
Such a cool hidden Gem in Boyle Heights. Amazing and delicious sweets! Great customer service, thank you Zianya. I will be back.
Clean, fast service, excellent staff. Coffee is delicious. They have different mexican cake flavors that you can sample.
Conchas are delicious and coffee always good.
