I have been a patron for 20+ years but recently had an awful experience in which I was accused of being difficult because I was unable to set up delivery of a gas grill on their terms (I work two jobs, one on shift). I repeatedly told them I was in no rush and that the item could be placed on my deck anytime to no avail. I was instead insulted by an aggressive manager (or owner) who wrongful accused me of being difficult...despite my instance that I was not dissatisfied, complaining or in any rush at all. With that I canceled my order and requested a refund in person...where I was met by the same person with disrespect and insults. I prefer to shop locally and went out of my way to support this business as most of the employees are very nice. Unfortunately I can no longer support a business that bullies and treats people/neighbors/customers with disrespect.

This place is awful. I live down the street and have multiple bad experiences here. Most recently and the reason I write this review is that I bought a ladder ($85!) for a potential project in my home. I did not end up using it as I hires someone to do the work and planned on returning the ladder. However, when I went to return it - unused and in perfect condition, I was told I was unable to. Now, I understand that sometimes it can be easy to use a ladder and return it, but that should have been explained to me before I checked out. Now, I have a 6 foot ladder in a tiny apartment that was never used and I’m out $100. Thanks. A little heads up would have been nice. Never coming back.

In a time of big box stores, it's nice to have a local neighborhood option that not only has a great selection, but knowledgeable people to help answer questions and provide advice. It's very helpful for me to check online as to in-store availability, and know exactly what I'm getting. The only issue I have is that the store entrance and exit are very tight, with 90-degree turns that make it very hard to get in and out if you have any assisted or child care devices (wheelchairs, strollers, etc.) It's a seemingly little thing, but something my family must be thoughtful about before visiting, which is too bad.

Today, I had the opportunity to change from a big store to a very special, smaller but amazing in staffing and customer service! Had some issues with plumbing, I was directed by friendly cashier, to aisle 17. It wasn’t more than 30 seconds when a gentleman by the name of Joe, came to my rescue. Took his time, very patiently and always happy to find a solution to my problem! He did fix my problem, very happy with the experience and friendliness of the store employees! Thank you, I highly recommend, won’t be disappointed!

Every time I walk into this Ace I am immediately greeted by someone who works their asking what they can help me find or assist with. Today I needed a gallon of paint and it was mixed and ready in under 4 minutes from walking in. I also recently purchased a gas Weber grill here. It was assembled and delivered with a smile on the exact date they said it would arrive when I made the purchase at no extra cost. I enjoy coming here for all of my household needs. The customer service is next to none.

When someone calls and asks if you have moving boxes in stock, the expectation is that you'll actually have moving boxes in stock. And, no, one tiny box and a bunch of wrapping paper does not actually mean you have them in stock. Also, if an aisle has a large hole in the floor, maybe put some cones up or, better yet, close off the aisle until you can fix it. I want to support local, but that's pretty hard to do when I end up almost twisting my ankle for an utterly worthless visit to your store.

Went there today because I had a drain problem -and draino, baking soda and vinegar, plunging, and using a coat hanger were not working. I asked what kind of snake-tool was best, then we went over what I had already done, and they told me to go and try the plunger again - but to plug-up the shower overflow first. They told me to do this, instead of buying something new which I was already about to do. Well I just tried what they said and it worked like a charm. They are in it to help people.

This unsuspecting storefront hides a neighborhood gem. This store has everything. EVERYTHING. And the employees are so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. As soon as you walk in someone is ready to take you to the items you need. And if you have a tricky car key that 4 other adults can't figure out, ask for Jason and he will pop that cover off and have your battery replaced before you can even rip open your bag of Dot's Homestyle Pretzels. Definitely recommend Lakeview Ace Hardware!

I've been going to this hardware store for decades now and have always found what I was looking for. This location is a refreshing change of pace from the soulless big box stores. However, bear in mind that Lakeview Ace is more about breath than depth (meaning that they have a little of everything, but not a big selection of any one item). The staff is very friendly and incredibly helpful, unlike those big boxes. Plus, you gotta love the creaking wooden floors...

This is where you go when you actually need to fix something! If you're trying to decorate a new home, or plant a garden, you'll be fine at a big box home improvement store. Ace, on the other hand, is the place you go when you need to replace one oddly-sized screw. Or, when you're trying to fix something, and you don't know exactly what you need. The people at Ace know what you need, they know where it is in the store, and they can tell you how to use it.

After having a disaster experience trying to order a grill with delivery from Home Depot, I cancelled the order and called up Ace Hardware. I was able to order the grill I wanted over the phone and arrange a much shorter delivery window way quicker than I’d been dealing with Home Depot. They were so helpful, nice, and professional from ordering through the delivery/final assembly. I will bring all my hardware store needs here from now on!!! Thanks Ace!

I recently moved to the area and have been a regular at this Ace Hardware lately. They have a little bit of everything and I've always been surprised to find exactly what I'm looking for - and exploring things I didn't even know I needed - when shopping here. Today took the cake when this Ace Hardware cut down a closet rod for me after both Lowe's and Home Depot said they couldn't. Well, that only made me a more devoted Ace Hardware customer!

One of the best hardware store experiences I have ever had. It's important to speak to professionals who know what they're doing, and House from this Ace Hardware is that person. He is very knowledgeable and respects your time, you can't go wrong here! He helped me understand exactly what I should purchase for a repair, and also explained the consequences if I don't get it fixed. All your repair solutions can be found at Ace Hardware!

You might look around a big box store for 5 minutes trying to find someone that can help you, or someone that can call someone that can help you. Lakeview Ace picks you up the moment you walk in the door and doesn't stop helping until your questions are all answered. The associate who helped me spent 5 minutes cutting open 79 cent rubber washers until we found the right one! Will definitely be making this my go-to hardware place!

Old time essential neighborhood fixture, even better after change in ownership. All you need for your homeowner travails without having to go to a big box. Ace can't match every product offered in a big box such as lumber, patio furniture, ceiling fans, carpet and stuff like that, but go here for most of what you need. And this is a big plus: they have people there who can actually help you! Wow!

Everyone was very nice and helpful, but I drove over there to get a lock rekey kit their own website says they HAD at the store!! Very aggravating. I'll buy it from someone else online. Also, Smoke/Co detectors were 65.00, 5.00 more than the warehouse club. I bought garage door openers, mostly so I wouldn't waste the trip over. I don't know if they were cheaper elsewhere.

The best experience and high quality inventory. Very knowledgeable employees. When we do work on the north side and chicagoland we only use this location for almost everything to do our homes.. We opened a business account with no hassles a few years back. If you need it they have it if its special order they can get it!!

One of the diminishing number of classic hardware stores. Walk in and you are greeted and asked if you need help finding anything - and you can indeed get most anything you need for a quick repair, ongoing maintenance, or other household work. Reasonably priced and convenient. Glad they have lasted these many years!

So grateful to have this store in the neighborhood. They have basically everything a DIYer needs for projects around the house, plus outdoor/grilling stuff. It seems like most of the staff has work experience in construction of some kind so they have been very helpful in guiding me to the right tools for the job.

The key technician provided some of the best customer service I've seen in a long time. He embodied the reputation I think ACE aspires to: Friendly, local/ neighborhood hardware provider. I would definitely choose this location over the big box stores for less complex items.

This Ace is amazing! Someone is always available to help us right when we walk in. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful, and although the store seems small, we’ve always been able to find exactly what we need for jobs around the house.

Went to get a key cut for a car (a simple key no chip) the guy didn't use the right key blank so my trip was a waste of time. On the good side for a store of its size, it has got lots of stuff, a valuable neighborhood asset.

As I don’t drive I needed to get a large laundry/grocery cart since my other one is getting old. Luckily they had one that I bought right away because they are very hard to find especially already assembled.

I'm a big fan of Ace hardware stores. The customer service is always excellent. I popped in to get a Kohler part for the tub. They had exactly what I was looking for. Thx again Ace!

Stopped by today and just came here to say the 2 girls working today were honestly the sweetest! Was greeted and helped right away in and out with great customer service.

Needed a gas shut off and some connections to install a new grill and the lady that helped us find everything we needed was exceptional. Love those helpful folks at Ace.

Always friendly and helpful. Love dogs too which is a plus. Prefer to any big box. Can order ahead and some great services like screen doors etc.
