DYNATRAP FLY TRAP This summer brought a small plague of fruit flies, fungus flies, face flies, mill flies or whatever you choose to call the tiny things. The DynaTrap ran 24-hours for three days with only 6 flies and 1 innocent moth to show for it. Meanwhile the mill fly population increased notably despite cloroxing all our drains and being extremely careful with garbage and spills. Fortunately my wife noted that the fruit flies were attracted to her wineglass; I did some reading and found that they were also attracted by cider vinegar. The DynaTrap is easily opened so I placed a cut-down pill bottle inside, secured it with sticky Bluetack, and ran it overnight. It worked MUCH better; the vinegar attracted 4X more face-fruit-mill flies than the previous three days! I still would not recommend the DynaTrap Fly Trap to a friend, unless they were handy enough to modify it as I did.
The man with the cane. He helped me last time I came also. I appreciate him because he came to me , mix my paint up , took my old can away so I would not be burden with it any more. Gave me a stirring stick ,& something I had always wanted to know what was and I kept at my house just because it looked important. A paint can opener. The man is one of the harder working person at the store. I use to work for a lady with a cane and she may as well beat me with it after it was all said and done so the fact that this young man helped me again shows me people are still good . although just had the worst experience in my life with some one with the cane some one at this store made my day. I didn’t get his name but he has helped me with canary yellow paint two times.
Ace is, "the helpful place" now and they truly live up to this here at this location. I shop here when I can, they do close early (6pm) but I think this is probably how they are able to keep regular employees who I know by name. Everyone in the store is super friendly, knowledgeable, and ask if you need help finding something before you can ask for assistance. Not only that, they actually know their product, know where to find things quickly and will even give you great advice on how to select the right tools or even the best way to complete a home project. This is most certainly my very favorite hardware store in the greater Dallas area. Highly recommend any part time DO-IT-YOURSELFER to check with this Ace before going anywhere else!
The old man who works there is not freshly and I didn't want to go in this time but I was desperate. Once he, speaking like he could care less, forcefully told us they were closing come back during business hours. It was 5 till. Then I dared tried them for something and he kept telling me they didn't have it and passed me off to another guy after telling me to try an appliance shop, and rattle off a name that still don't know what he said. That is my last time going in there. I am 57 and I have been treated as though I should know better. Been in twice., and I believe that is enough. The other employees are nice, but they are busy talking to each other and you can stand there looking and no one seems to say hello can we help you.
Skip the trip to home depot and Lowes, this place has the customer service you want and crave. You're gonna pay maybe a couple bucks more total but you won't have to chase down some overworked, undertrained minimum wage slave who's gonna look at you like you just made up a word when you ask "where's the spackle?" Super knowledgeable, friendly staff here will answer your questions, make sure you're taken care of, and leave you alone if you just wanna browse. This is your dad's hardware store, and they've got everything you need. Extra thanks to the awesome guy who helped me pick out some new drill bits but also dropped some free knowledge about rewiring my lamps today. Don't bother going anywhere else. Ace is the place.
Great service as always, and a stunning selection of materials. This is head-and-shoulders above the big box hardware stores when it comes to knowledgeable employees. Prices are good, and the service can't be beat. I've been using this hardware store for almost 40 years, and I've never been disappointed. Well, except when the greedy landlords at Lakewood forced their move. This new store though, is much better for parking, and a much nicer building. It's Lakewood Shopping Center's loss I haven't been to any business in there since the hardware store moved, and I used to visit several of them every time I stopped by. Drive the extra mile or two and see what happens when a great store becomes even better.
I'm installing 2 glass antique door knobs into our newly renovated garage and needed specific items. When I walked into Lakewood Ace Hardware, I was warmly greeted by the woman behind the cash register. Then, a older gentleman saw me fumbling in the hardware section. He gently came over and asked me if he could be of assistance. Well, he was more than helpful! We had a wonderful conversation about old structures in the area and he was very knowledgable about what I needed. He told me things I could do to make it work because I had been troubleshooting for days on this. He made my day! Thank you!
Lakewood Hardware is okay. There are usually around six associates, ostensibly there to assist you. Once in a while they do, for example when a woman comes in. Sometimes they huddle, chat, and leave you alone. Unlike most area modern hardware stores, they don't have a selection of plants. You can get plants at the grocery store next door. But they offer a wide selection of house and garden poisons for old school gardeners. Hardware is well-stocked. Some employees are friendly. Others are passive-assistive I like that they stock root beer. The place is clean.
Disappointed. I checked online for the availability of the product (plastic replacement shelf sleeves) before I made a trip to this Ace hardware. Online it indicated that several were available but after I arrived neither I or the 2 associates who assisted me could locate them. I walked down every aisle in the store and was not impressed with how certain items were stocked. Messy + many bare areas. I understand the appeal if a non big box hardware store but accurate inventory, easy nventory location, and good first impressions are paramount for any business.
My boyfriend is a small business owner and frequents the store for glass and other items. The older gentleman that assisted him today 8/30 around noon was extremely rude, didn’t say a single word to him besides asking him what he needed and 100% ignored him once he completed cutting the glass. Didn’t catch a name but he was wearing a green shirt. The girl at the front was nice and even mentioned to him that they have a guy sharpening knives on Saturday- and to come back. Customer service goes a long way and should be important amongst smaller retail stores.
Lakewood Hardware, an affiliate of Ace Hardware on Gaston is a great little neighborhood hardware store. We pop in and out of there all the time to pick up Hardware, tools, Lumber, and plants for our do-it-yourself projects. It's close, convenient, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Right now it's spring at Lakewood Hardware as is evident by the colorful displays of lawn chairs, bags of potting soil, and tomato cages in front of the store. They have everything you need to keep your yard and your home looking great all summer long.
I often go here & the Guys that work here are the greatest. Friendly very knowledgeable . The only bad vibe I get is the Youg Hispanic girl that works the register, she's always on her phone . Sometimes doesn't even say anything . The other day she rang me up double by mistake(while texting on her phone and not paying attention)then got an attitude with me after trying to correct her mistake. I've seen her bad mouth other customers after ringing them up and finally I had to give my review about this.
There's a dude here who's name I forget only because I've been out of the country for two weeks. He's talk and he's got busy hair and he always helps me match up different size screws and things. He's extremely helpful and deserves a raise and promotion. He's always been spot on with his matching abilities. Next time I go I'm going to get his name again and try to repost. He deserves credit for being extremely helpful, attentive and knowledgeable.
This is a great hardware store. There are people there sometimes that know where things are located. And you can buy a 1299.00 Green egg or a pellet grill. People are very helpful to tell you were something is at without knowing where it’s actually at. Military protocol was to get directions, regardless of wether or not it was correct, just..... Because. Anyways, I’m super busy and y’all could be more helpful when anybody’s there.
I've lived in Lakewood for 25 years and I've supported neighborhood businesses whenever I can, like Ace Hardware. But, Ace's customer service especially at checkout has gone way down. The people behind the counter always seem to be put to take your money. The rude person I dealt with today at checkout brings my shopping days at ACE to an end. I'll be going to the big box store for a more pleasant checkout experience in the future!
I was not impressed one bit. I entered the store and exited to find some shelves, but I received no greeting, the girl in the front was glued to her phone, and the older gentleman looked directly at me and cut his eyes. Then about four other associates acted like I didn't need any assistance. I had to get out of there after not making human contact within 15min of aimlessly looking. I see why big boxes get the business.
Horrific!!! Two male employees tried to belittle me for looking for potting soil. They kept on about the wrong time of year and kept on about how I should learn how to take care of plants. All of this was unsolicited. I grow plants that most people can't grow. I have two green thumbs. U did not need two jerk no it alls who actually no nothing trying to "educate" me. They were a joke!!
If you are looking for a hardware item and are unable to find it at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Elliott’s then shop here. Great brand selections but best of all, associates that know what they are talking about. This business has been in the Lakewood area for years but moved to this new location several years ago. Worth finding and a pretty neat shopping center as well.
This is the quintessential local hardware store that has everything, including wonderful service...there is always someone right there to help you. Love that they're open on Sunday now (unlike when they were in the Lakewood shopping center). We prefer to shop local and they're a great alternative to the big box home improvement stores.
Well, I'm all for smaller business (even though this also is a national chain) but was shocked that a particular electrical switch was approx. 80% higher priced than the other "national chain" hardware store! And I don't mean $0.80 per unit more, think many $$ more. But I will say the store was nice and clean, no issues there.
Great store! I was very impressed with the screws and hardware section. I only needed four metal self tapping screws, so I got 6! Normally I have to buy a whole box and just leave it at the clients location. I don't need that many screws in my house or truck. The rest of the store is well organized, plenty of people to help.
store is a little messy, but they actually have a great selection of hardware/fasteners/plumbing etc. there’s another ace just as close to me, but they don’t really seem that into actual hardware....whenever i have a project to do, this ace is my go-to. staff is friendly and helpful and allow you to shop uninterrupted.
Everytime I go here to get a key made it always takes 4 ever and only 50% of the keys even work. That sucks to pay for keys that dont work and to have to go somewhere else that I should have went to the first time to get my keys made and pay again. Avoid this ace. It will wind up costing you double in the long run.
You know how the commercial says it the place with the helpful hardware folks. That right there is truth in advertising!! I had the best experience!!! They helped me find solutions for about 6 different issues and were very patience and knowledgeable. I will be back — very happy to have found this place!!
Site says they do refills but they only do blue rhino exchanges which are NOT the same, blue rhino notoriously underfills tanks and you have to exchange their tanks, and it costs twice as much. Ripoff, please consider providing accurate information on services on your site
Lakewood Hardware is a traditional full service hardware store. They have a complete selection of lawn and garden, painting, chain, and pretty much anything else you can think of that's hardware.their selection is as good as Home Depot, and much more convenient to access.
Clean, organized store with friendly, helpful staff! Has anything the average person could need and more, hardware wise, with really good prices! Waaaay cheaper than Home Depot or Lowes, but the products aren't terrible quality like Harbor Freight. …
Our business has been supporting our local ACE Hardware many years, yesterday we were treated very badly by the young lady at the cash register. She was extremely rude and even said a bad word to us on her way out. Very disappointed on the customer service.
The cleanest, well organized, and knowledgeable staff. I was beginning to feel Ace Hardware made a horrible decision in franchising it's brand. I started frequenting the big box guys.Until I walked into this one location. Other locations should take note.
I love how the employee keep the mom any pop service that I expect and rely on from ACE while the store itself has a sleek and modern polish to it. I can't ignore the fact that I have found the things I need here when others hardware store come up short.
Called ahead of time to confirm whether a grill was in stock or not and was told yes. Get there for them to try and sell me the floor model. They didn't even want to discount it. Keep in mind this is a $1250 grill. Gladly took my business elsewhere.
I walked in the front door and Joe immediately asked if I needed help finding anything, I was taken to just what I needed, given advice and he even took my things to the front for me! Incredible service, I was in and out in 5 minutes. Thanks Joe!!
The young female cashier with glasses was fantastic and super friendly. The older gentlemen was okay, I asked a question about and item and he pointed me to where it was instead of taking me over to it, and he was not helping anyone at the time.
They have ruined the wonderful Ace hardware brand. I knew immediately things were off when I walked in. Their store was rearranged and they didn't have anything I needed. I bet the changes are probably a new corporate direction.
Unlike a stop at Lowe's or home Depot, they always have the part you need. Plus someone will always ask to help you. Which is way different. Plus they can match or beat anybodies price, they just don't advertise it.
Excellent staff. Though small they carry lots of things that are specialty like screws, nuts, and bolts. I found caster wheels there for a chest as well. It's worth a trip there before heading out to the big stores.
A very nice place, clean and organized well put together store I went in to purchase items for the church, it has been a long time since I was at an ace, I am glad I went I will be back as I continue to need items.
Lakewood is a gem of a store! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and can help with all your needs. Definitely a place to stop for all your DIY projects as well as all your outdoor and backyard bbq needs.
I like this place..they're very helpful. .and more convenient for me then the large box stores...plus I Enjoy walking inn, and with in a min, theirs alway someone asking if I need help with anything. ..
Ace is a great neighborhood place to get things quickly. Their staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I can always get in and out with the things I need and confidence it will work.
Super helpful, knowledgeable employees. However, their selection is limited on a lot of items and they are often out of stock on common items (even before pandemic related supply chain issues).
Smaller more cramped store. Casper was nice and personable but the gentleman who begrudgingly asked me if I needed help was not the nicest and pointed and grunted more than anything else.
The staff are always immediately available to help you locate items, and usually have helpful advice. Not the same selection of the big guys, but a wonderful neighborhood hardware store.
It's easy to do business here. Some of the staff has been with the store for years so customers have access to all that knowledge and experience. And they're friendly and helpful.
Very good store..may not be very big..but the staff are ever so helpful.!! I got what I needed with staff help within 5mins if going in to the store. Will be going in again.
Seriously the most helpful people, always asking what project you're working on. Not sure if they care but it's nice to hear to start the conversation on what you need.
The staff here is awesome. In two years, I have yet to need something, and they didn't have it in stock, I highly recommend them for their service as well as inventory
The customer service at this store is incredible! Bill has helped me multiple times and he has gone out of his way to help me get different jobs done the right way.
These guys are always helpful! Such a great location, with great hours. I don't have to drive a long distance to get what's needed. Defintely a neighborhood go to!
Found what I was looking for immediately and ended up getting a bit more. The staff is very knowledgeable and amazing selection of home repair to gardening.
Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! Scott and Joe are very knowledgeable, helped me fix my sink and saved me big bucks! Great customer service.
Always find what I am looking for. Everyone very helpful and know what they have in the store. They will also offer ideas to help. Thank you ACE Hardwares
The nuts, bolts & all that were well organized with parts numbers you can write on a bag and throw everything in for quick n easy ring up at the counter.
I love it when I can walk into a bolt & nut isle and an employee is there to help me immediately find what I need. People here are on the ball!
This is one of the best Ace hardware stores. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful much better than the big places like Lowe's and Homedepot.
They lying saying on their websites that they have certains things and when you go to try to buy them, they told you that they don’t have them
Always a good experience getting helped right away and in and out wether or not YOU'RE in a mad rush to get back to a repair OR a fun project
This is a GREAT Neighborhood Hardware Store. Very knowledgeable of what you need. You get in and out quickly. Been shopping here for years.
Terrific locally-owned and operated retailer. If you're tired of being ignored at big box stores, come here for attentive help and advice.
I went for a specific item and they did have it. The store has improved since moving to this location but I prefer to go to other stores.
I needed a replacement quick connect for my Magic Chef portable washer. So the adapter would work. In and out quickly only $15 with tax.
The people at this location are the most helpful people I know. They truly want to assist you in whatever you are searching to purchase.
Clean and has most stuff you will need for basic home repairs. Overpriced compared to big stores, but you are paying for convenience.
A store that has everything, and you don't have to walk for miles and miles and miles around! Great, friendly, knowledgeable staff!
Attendant didnt know what items they had was told they didnt carry went looking for it myself and found on shelf will not return
I like the Lakewood hardware because if there's something I need they usually have it. The soda selction is quite impressive too
Very helpful staff, they have a very organized and clean store. They make process of buying any items I need for work a breeze.
Always a very helpful staff. Ended up buying a couple of other things than what I was looking for. Quick efficient checkout.
Ive been going there my whole life, very helpful happy people with a large variety of paints for indoor and outdoor projects
This ACE hardware store was very clean, and the employees were courteous and helpful during my shopping time in the store.
Online stock matched what they had in store. The team member that assisted me knew exactly where I could find the product.
Helpful, friendly staff. Such a wonderful alternative to the big box stores, especially when you only need a few things.
Good selection, excellent staff. Like a Home Depot only you can find someone to help you and they're actually helpful.
Great place. Staff is very helpful, they have all been there for years. Can not say enough good things about them.
Convenient and well priced with a friendly and professional staff eager to help you find what you're looking for.
Well rounded selection with a very knowledgeable staff. They carry quality brands and the store is always clean.
Great place to buy anything needed for a DIY project and great prices. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.
Ask manager, Scott, or Bill anything and you’ll always get the best help each time. Ask them about their MINIs.
Great selection for a neighborhood hardware store. Staff knows their products and are willing to offer advice.
Very nice and helpful staff. Stocks just about anything you need. Also cuts glass whete home depot does not
Helpful and friendly staff. Found what I was looking for at a reasonably price. I will be going back again.
