"The park name makes me giggle but all jokes aside this is one of my most favourite spots in all of Calgary! The number of life changing moments I've had here are really profound"
"This park is fantastic for kids that love to climb or act like Monkeys! My kids love this park and the short path over to it"
"A really nice kid park that is connected to an off leash dog park"
"Great location but no swings and what is there is often vandalized with graffiti and empty beer cans"
At the time of our visit (April 2021) it was very clean and spacious in a sense where there weren’t a lot of people (covid times is a factor I’m sure) but thoroughly enjoyed the double swing with an infant. Our son loved it and it fitted him perfect (11 months) he also loves going down the big slides supervised and supported of course. The parking lot (end of an industrial street) for the playground was slightly of a distance though but on a nice day was an enjoyable walk. There’s also a basketball court by the parking lot. There’s also picnic area that is covered by a roof, great for shade. There’s also a dog park area somewhere cause we kept seeing little four legged friends around.
The park name makes me giggle but all jokes aside this is one of my most favourite spots in all of Calgary! The number of life changing moments I've had here are really profound. I go there to shake off my day and connect with nature in what ways I can. The lil bit or trees in the lower areas make for a sweet lil forest bush place to walk dogs. The play structures are pretty new and fun for lil ones (covid willing!) Theres even a shaded spot for picnics. All in all, it's small but mighty and a nice time for all ages
This park is fantastic for kids that love to climb or act like Monkeys! My kids love this park and the short path over to it. The ground is rubbery type of thing so it can get hot, but stays soft in case of trips and falls. There's a nice shaded area nearby as well for any parents trying to find some shade at the park, as well as a smaller side park for a parent and child to swing together, and some fun drum things that make music when you hit them. All in all a cool park, my kids love it, so I do too!
A really nice kid park that is connected to an off leash dog park. Very fun, my only complaint is they say no dogs on the playground... But it's connected to an off leash area with nothing to seperate the two. My dog likes to be around my kids, made it hard to follow the rules. But yeah if you have flesh and fur kiddos, this is a good place to play. There's even a covered area to eat in.
Great location but no swings and what is there is often vandalized with graffiti and empty beer cans. The handholds on the climbing wall were installed upsidedown making the wall useless. The no offlease dog signs were removed making dogs a problem. The remote location is also in need of some facilities as the trees located beside the play area, where a bench is located, reeks of urine.
It's a decent play area as my kids can stay busy playing and running around for about an hour. I appreciate the soft rubber floor rather than dusty rocks. This place needs maintenance as it was filled with litter and the grass around it was not maintained. Also it gets somewhat loud as Deerfoot is very close. Also seen coyotes around the park in winter, so be aware.
This is a hidden gem of a park. I drove by this park every day for years. Finally decided to check it out and I have to say I will be back again and again. Lots of room for all sorts of activities. Personally we brought a portable disc golf basket and played for a few hours. It was a little bit windy at the bottom of the hill but still well worth the visit.
Bit of a drive around to access the park. The landscape is aesthetically appealing. Has a well-designed foot bridge and the playground is a nice attraction for the children. Park is parallel to the highway so not very quiet due to traffic noise.
Playground
Clean play area.
Restrooms
No washrooms here
Picnic area
Has a picnic shelter
There is not much to do in Laycock park save for a playground for kids, a baseball diamond and a bike path that will have you go through it t the north or south. . We walked the bluff and enjoyed the view of the city and of the main highway. We could see the new Deerfoot City being built. It is a quiet park, and peaceful. Not very busy.
The playground itself is fun and it's nice there is a picnic area with tables. However, my friend and I were disgusted by all the dog poop along the path and near the picnic area/playground. There aren't any garbage cans by the picnic area either. Also, why is there a playground in the middle of an off-leash dog area?
We went tobogganing there. Decent sized hill. Steep enough to get some speed going down the hill and not too steep as to get tired after coming up the hill more than once. Would suggest going after a fresh wet snowfall for better snow if you'd like to build a small jump. Don't wait for the snow to dry out.
Beautiful Park that makes for a lovely stop along Nose Creek. The pathway system runs right through the park, continuing on past Edmonton trail. Lots of space for sports, BBQ or picnics, and offleash time with your dogs. The amenities are showing some age, but nothing enough to warrant staying away.
Seeing as how this park is in a valley, it could have been quite beautiful but with Industrial area and Deerfoot Trail bordering it it leaves something to be desired. The pathway is well kept but the park itself is uninspiring. Good for getting your steps in but not much else.
Just a nice park with a good stretch of pathway. Great for running, cycling, walking your dog on and off leash. Always friendly people when there are any. They are doing some construction in the play structure area so maybe not the greatest for kids at this moment.
Very good area to have fun with your family. The grassland is amazing and clean. You can also have fun with your dog because is off leash area. There's a baseball field next to this park, two small forests to explore and a large field to play any sport.
Always a nice area to visit lota of space. There is new construction all over the park but once that is over and it settles the park is great for dogs or just a stroll along the water. Very clean normally a good positive croud.
Well maintained. Big off leash park and a lovely creek for your dogs to play in in the summer. Large steep hills good for sledding down in the winter too. Had a playground and benches nearby to have a picnic with your family.
It is a nice little park, though there is a fair amount of road noise. There seems to be outdoor martial arts lessons there on Monday, at least for now. So it was quite a bit busier than I imagine it would be other nights.
Great place for families with kids and dogs, as there are both off-leash area and playground. Most of the time there isn’t a lot of people nor dogs. Also good spot to see trains and also very nice evening skies!
Very peaceful in the early morning. The views are nice and the creek adds to the beauty of it all. There's off leash dog areas and a nice playground for the kids with picnic tables & canopy. ENJOY!!
A nice park! The playground says it's good for children ages 5-12. Also the south entrance is closed and under construction, so you'll have to park up top and walk down from the North west side.
Nice hiking and biking trails, but the best part is the modern playground with a huge slide for the kids. There's picnic tables under a shelter too. It's a good place for a child's birthday.
The kids loved the park. It was unfortunate to find juice or something sticky on the slide and garbage on the ground. People please clean up after yourself or bring a guardian to do so.
Nice park with bike paths. Me with my kids really like ride on the bikes and later play on the playground. In summer a good place for a picnic. In winter cool hills for sledding.
Good to see lots of work has been done to upgrade this area. A great off leash area for dogs and a small creek to check out as well. No restrooms is the only thing.
Awww this was our dog park for over 5 years. I miss it. Never ever had any issues w 'bad' dogs or 'bad' dog owners. Lots of space to run, everyone is friendly.
Laycock Park is going through a major renovation. The plans look really good. Thank you City of Calgary for making the city a human friendly natural habitat.
Great playground with a fine covered picnic space. Unfortunately in 2018 construction work elsewhere in the park makes access by bike a bit more challenging.
Great narrow city park with bike and walking path from end to end. Has 2 ball diamonds and kids playground. With all the rain the water is high.
I love this place because someone spraypainted the (lay) part of the sign & Also good for riding skateboards and longboards at higher speeds
The city should state that parks are closed when they are closed. However this one said they were open however it wasn't and fully gated off
VERY BEAUTIFUL EVEN THO IT'S SO SUNNY,LIKE WHEN YOU'RE BIKING AND THE WIND HITS YOUR FACE AND YOU MATCH IT WITH YOUR PLAYLIST!!! SO COOL
Great off leash park and not too busy. It is not fenced so your dog needs a good recall as it is between a street and a busy bike path
Closed right now..you need to drive across the creek using 64th and walk down to the area via bike paths ...everything is fenced off.
The rubber looks safe but if you are running and fall...... it hurts sooooo fugging bad and leaves a road rash eraser burn from hell
Very nice pathways for walking, jogging, or biking ... you also may catch a glimpse of some of the wildlife that call the park home
A home away from home. Been coming here since it was a wasteland in the 1970s. It is no longer a wasteland, but I still like it.
I love the updated playground!!! The play structure is geared for kids 5 years and older so there isn't much for the toddlers.
Dog friendly off leash park. Not too busy and does have a playground. Good place to walk the dog or hang out with the family.
I liked it as a kid, thought it was fun. Gazebo right beside a playground for parents to watch their kids and have a picnic.
Under construction.Beauty when it be finished Who knows when.???go figure I honestly found this wee rock there today...
Basic park, nice dogs, owners, water available for wet dogs, hills, kids play area, swings, woods, meadow, just go.
The bike paths are nice and the playground is good for younger kids. The new renovations really revamped the place.
This was a very nice park to walk through, just wish the City of Calgary had places to sit along the pathways.
It was great, haven't been there in roughly 8 to 10 years we've always liked the park, great for all 's …
Cool little place to stop for a break while working. Super quiet, you wouldnt know it was an inner city park.
On Google maps if coming from North it took us to a entrance with no parking. Was a nice well maintain park.
Beautiful, quiet park, easily accessible by bike. Designated car parking access is still under construction.
Great fun for the kids. Nice covered picnic area. Fun fact...there's Crawfish in the small stream close by.
Great off leash dog park. It's not fenced, but quite large. Some treed areas, but mostly big open fields.
Has a fantastic new playground! My kids loved it and it has something for little kids and teens both
Calm, quite, beautiful, new and stylish play area. Recently renovated and looks so good now.
I like walking in the park and petting the animals and watching the planes take off and land
Good space to walk and bike. There's a park to take the kids. Not a fenced off-leash park
Great park all year round, good walking paths. The big hills are fabulous for sledding!!
Great playground with picnic tables near by. Lots of construction on bike path near by
I like to walk, cycling and watching dogs here. It's a pretty good park for everyone.
Love the off-leash part of this park, well-maintained, clean, and right on the path.
Clean park, nice paths. If you want to run hills you can go full blackout wooooo!
The playground is one of the newest in the area and good for kids of all ages.
Park looks great. Good place for walking dogs. Aways see people walking dogs.
Great place to walk the dogs, with the nearby creek and a good paved pathway.
I ride my bike through here twice a day. Laycock is a great inner city park!
Great new playground, poor infrastructure makes it kind of hard to get to
Good place to walk dogs......and to go snow sledding during winter.
Good place to go run, some construction going on (November 2019)
Great place to take the kids. My grandkids rave about the park.
A great place to walk the dog, or let your furry friends swim.
Nice in the park and good pathway also see on deerfoot trail
Great place to let your dog off leash. Lots of space to run.
Good hill for sledding and playing fetch with the doggo.
Kiddo loves to play there while he sees the train pass
Nice quiet spot to take the dog or bike along the path
Very clean & not too busy, great family place …
great dog park love going there every one is nice
Beautiful park, great for a quick jog or a picnic.
Fantastic park! Great for sledding in winter
Beautiful play and trails to bike or walk.
Great little park. Connects to nose creek.
My breakfast burrito was marginal at best.
Would have been nice if it wasn't closed.
Great park and green space for all ages
Don't forget to pick up after your pet
Fun park! New playground …
Nice but not enough pokestops.
Great park for bigger kids
