"This is a spot I had been wanting to visit for awhile now! So glad I did! The outside is beautiful marble with bronze statues adorning a magnificent entrance arch! Then Rodin's the Thinker just staring at you as you enter the Piazza! That's just the outside haha! I came for the Tutors Exhibit but stayed and checked out the entire collection! I really enjoyed the Ronin rooms and making my way back to the Monets! Stunning building as well with arches, columns and domes abound!

"The Legion of Honor in San Francisco is a majestic sight unto itself"
I was on a tour with Best Tours of Fresno to see the Tudor Exhibit. What a treat it was! Beautiful Art work & artifacts dating from the 1400's to the 1600's. The Museum itself was a wonderful building that opened in 1924 in Lincoln Park. It has European paintings, sculptures & decorative arts. It definitely worth the trip. There is also a Cafe in the building. I had a Chinese Chicken Salad which was very good but a little pricey. I ate outdoors in a beautiful courtyard with attentive wait staff. All in all, it was a most stupendous day!

The Legion is a great place to visit in SF. The museum has rooms that are expertly curated to match certain time periods and are amazing. The museum has an extensive amount of Rodin's works as well. The museum has a focus on European art movements such as Impressionist, Rococo, and Baroque. The Tudor tapesteries are exquiste. Outside, the grounds have a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge. If you buy a ticket to the Legion you also get free admission to De Young which is a nice perk. The museum is easy to walk around and took about 2 1/2 hours to traverse.

I always enjoy my visits to this museum. Much of the artwork in the galleries are from UK & France. There is a lot of variety and I seem to notice something new every time I visit. This is one of my favorite places to visit in the Bay. I always bring friends to see this place when they come from out of town to visit California. There is something very mystical about The Legion of Honor. I also recommend that you attend the pipe organ concert. There are very few of these in the world and it is a very unique experience.

The Legion of Honor in San Francisco is a majestic sight unto itself. I've been visiting it for the past 30 years or so. Though I've only seen it from the outside during my visits, its grandeur never fails to impress. The surrounding area is lovely too. I enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the stunning views it offers. It's a place that never gets old, and I find myself drawn to it time and time again, savoring its beauty and the serenity it brings to the heart of the city.

Have been to three spectacular exhibits of here in the past year. The docents go through years of training and, as a result, provide excellent tours and can answer almost any question lobbed their way. My only complaint is that the museum allows the exhibits to become PACKED. I wonder if they should consider timed entry for the special exhibits that draw so many people. The cafe is good but has a small menu so check it out first to see if there is something you want.

Saturdays are free for Bay Area residents. Check the counties that are applicable. On site days at 4pm, stay for live organ concert. Treat yourself in the cafe. I chose this raspberry chocolate tart. The cafe is a great space to collect your thoughts and reflect. Stay and watch the sunset. I like the view away from the GGB. It’s serene and quiet if you face away from the bridge.

This is one of excellent museum that you can visit for free on the first Tuesday of every month. It is a great place where European historical works are displayed, sculptures in front of the antique building museum and well-organized lawns, and you can enjoy Rodin's works very intensely, and many works by famous artists are on display. I recommend you to visit.

I had an absolutely fantastic visit to the Legion of Honor! This place is truly amazing, from the stunning architecture to the outstanding art exhibitions. What made my visit even more special was the organ concert at the end – it was the perfect grand finale to an already incredible experience. I highly recommend this museum to anyone looking for a memorable day filled with art, culture, and music. It's a definite 5-star experience!
Very nice collection and architecture. And I met a girl that impressed me so much, even now I still can’t stop thinking about her. This is the first time I feel such a strong link to a stranger, which I didn't expect at that time. At that time, I didn't have the courage to talk to her. Now I want to tell her that You are more beautiful than all the collections in this museum.

Beautiful space. Very calm and with gorgeous art work. Hidden gem for tourist and locals. I have been to the Monet and the Tudors exhibitions and both were outstanding. Their permanent collection is remarkable too with many pieces from Monet (my favorite), including a piece of water lilies.

We viewed the Tudor exhibit. Such a rich history on Henry the Vlll' lineage. Loved how each artist tells a story using the elements of art and principles of design in the elegant paintings. The monumental sizes of historical books is breath taking. The tapestries cover most of the walls from top to bottom, each telling historical events. I will go back soon
A lot of unique classical art, mostly from British and French empires I guess? I don't know much about art but I enjoyed my quick tour and the Saturday organ concert. Might come back with somebody who knows more about art.

Wonderful museum. Definitely half the size of the de young but the exhibits of photos were beautiful. I really liked the furniture displays. The parking surprisingly was easy. Usually takes me 30min to one hour to find parking and the garage is always full at de young. So this is a good alternative though far from golden gate park More
My kids and I went to Legion of Honor on July 4th holiday this year. It was free general admission on that day because San Francisco offers the first Tuesday of every month. Beautiful art museum with lots of amazing fine arts. We walked from lands ends outlook to Legion of Honor, great hike and amazing views of Golden Gate Bridge.
My favorite San Francisco museum. Memories of visiting with friends as a child. Great views, interesting exhibits, classic artwork. Cafe is wonderful. Visit when the magnificent pipe organ is playing!

Though not huge, the collection is impressive and well presented. We took one of the free tours and enjoyed listening to the docent's insights. There is also a nice walking trail nearby.

Large collection of Rodin and great diversity of pieces. Audio guide wasn’t the best as it didn’t cover many major pieces. The temporary collection (Tudor) was unique and interesting. The park surrounding the museum itself was also very beautiful and has great views. More
Beautiful fine arts museum, a must-see for painting lovers. In addition to the permanent collection it is a special exhibition with Boticelli’s paintings and drawings.

The museum includes paintings from the Middle Ages to early 20th century with emphasis on European paintings. It also includes many sculptures and porcelain art. Here is a link to a video with the main works of art. https://youtu.be/aGDyrQwkq90 More
Traditional setting, while inspirational and refreshing spaces with smart exhibition. Presently Botocheli drawings, some paintings but the key to his genius.

Beautiful museum home to sculptures, furniture and paintings - both modern and classical art. Rodin’s sculptures are heavily featured throughout including arguably his most famous piece “the thinker” on prominent display as soon as you walk
SARGENT & SPAIN special exhibition is very popular. Attracted a large crowd. Sargent’s diverse background is captured in this exhibition. He painted in a variety of genres not usually seen in collections of his work. All the paintings in
Well put together museum - the "right scale" for a great collection of exhibits but not overwhelming. Really enjoyed the Rodin, porcelain, Dutch & Flemish, and Impressionist galleries. Well conceived progression of eras of art history,
Museum architecture as over-the-top grand national monument , reminding me of pep talks and speeches generals give before declaring a War; the interior though is more intimate; today, I went to final day of Spain and Sargent, my first
This day we just stayed outside and took in the view, But we do enjoy going in and looking around, it’s a great place but there’s days on the way home we like to just stop somewhere and talk and get some fresh air and discuss our day.
Very nice paintings are displayed here. Worth visiting when your in San Francisco. If you love art this is your kind of place to go to. You will see millions dollars paintings from famous artists.
I always enjoy visiting the Legion. The architecture is stunning, both inside and out. The views from the parking lot alone are worth the visit, but I digress.
The place is beautiful. I came for the exhibition "The Tudors" which was beautiful. It just opened here in San Francisco. It is a must-see. More
