Down in Hobart for a few nights it seemed a good idea to go to a nice restaurant. We arrived to a practically empty place and sat in the centre of the large dining area. Although slightly cold we assumed it would soon warm up as it was 6 o'clock, a time guests should have been arriving. Perhaps the population of Hobart (as well as the hotel guests?) had already been tipped off, but our meal was the worst I have ever experienced. My friends ordered a variety of choices, including seafood, chicken and steak. I asked if there was anything vegetarian, and I guess the cook thought that meant lentils, because sure enough, that was the plate bought before me. Sat in an under cooked capsicum, I began eating what I assumed would be some hidden secret sauce or spices to address the deplorable visual presentation. I was wrong, very wrong. It was indeed plain lentils! And with a rather strange aftertaste that I assumed later, after vomiting in the car park (this is unfortunately true), must have been from age or mould (or both). Others at my table were not quite as disappointed, but far from delighted with their meals. With only two other tables occupied by the time we left (me feeling curiously giddy at this stage) I had no issues worrying if anyone saw my reactions in the car park. Laying on the rear seat on my way home with my stomach ALMOST as empty as my wallet I pondered how a place could dare charge the sort of prices they do and offer up such a miserable excuse for food. I reiterate, this was THE worst meal I have ever eaten (and I have experienced food poisoning) In the words of the classic Homer (Simpson) from the episode Guess who's coming to criticize dinner? , 'So come to The (Lenna of Hobart) if you want to get sick and die and leave a big garlicky corpse.(sans garlic naturally) PS, parking was ample.' Please note, I give this one star only because it will not let me post otherwise, I obviously wish their were buckets to highlight as negatives, in which case, two full buckets!

I had an enjoyable four night stay while traveling solo in Tasmania. Having been a bit of a last minute trip, I booked the most affordable room option and was allocated room number 19 which I understand is a Queen room. Unfortunately I wasn't assigned a room with a balcony, but the room looked over a small garden facing away from Runnymede st, and while the view wasn't much to see, the room was a good size and had everything I needed including a nespresso coffee machine. The bathroom had been renovated and the water pressure in the shower was good. One thing i appreciated during my stay is that housekeeping would leave the heater on for me which was really appreciated when returning back to the room on a cold day. The carpark is accessed using your room key and I found it be convenient, though spaces a little narrow. The location of the hotel is ideal, being a quick walk around the corner to Salamanca Square and an easy wonder into town. While the bed was comfortable, if there is anything that could be upgraded, in the room it would be the tv. Overall I am glad that I chose to stay here, the room was suitable for my needs but if you value a view and have the budget, then consider paying extra for a room with a view.

Beautiful unique historic hotel. Stunning views, everything was gorgeous. Liked · Beautiful historic hotel in a trendy area. I thought it was gorgeous, with view over the park and yonder. Lovely gardens and setting. Nice spacious room with quality pillows. Great breakfast. I don't know why so many people seemed to not like the fact that the rooms are in a separate building to the one in the picture. (the original building) The two buildings are separated by a short and very pretty walkway and the other building is styled in keeping with the original anyway. I don't see the problem! You can view the original through the windows if you want to not to mention the gorgeous areas outside the rooms with spectacular views. I really thought it was a beautiful hotel, we had stayed at the Grand Chancellor before which was double the price but nowhere near as gorgeous and unique like Lenna. Staff were very nice and the lady who checked us in even carried our bags to our room. If we ever come back to Hobart Lenna will be first choice. Disliked · The doona kept slipping down in its cover. Otherwise nothing.

We stayed at the Lenna for a family long weekend. After a very long day of sightseeing we arrived back at the Lenna for an early night in anticipation of an early start for the next morning. You imagine our disappointment to find that the hotel management had decided to host a 40th Birthday party in the courtyard, complete with 3 piece band. A pathetic attempt to apologise in advance of this event was left in our room by the cleaners that morning, long after we had left. We had no chance of sleeping because of the excessive noise until after 10 pm when the band went quiet, but the crowd noise continued both in the courtyard and in room areas. I'm astounded that the Hotel thought that it was a good idea to disrupt the stay of every guest other than invitees to the 40th Birthday whom I'm sure had a wonderful time.

We love staying at Lenna of Hobart. We have stayed here twice now & find you can’t beat the value for money staying here. The location is amazing - so close to the Salamanca markets, a quick walk to the wharves & all of the restaurants there, also a quick walk to some beautiful cafes and restaurants around battery point (e.g. Monsoon Thai fusion, Jackman & McRoss). The last time we stayed at Lenna there were fireworks near the bridge & our room had a direct view of this. Whilst the rooms and amenities aren’t super modern, it’s clean, comfortable & the exterior is gorgeous. There’s a cute bar on-site which is nice to pop down to for a nightcap. The service is always great, we really appreciated them accommodating a later check-out. Will definitely stay here again.

I've stayed here a number of times with work and I always enjoy staying here. The building is historic and while it has a semi-modern feel, the richness is starting to show its age if you look hard at the details in the room accommodation. The rest of the experience - gin cocktails/beer/wine in the historic lounge with fireplace and a view up to the mountain at sunset is bucket list stuff c great way to finish work. The room views over the gardens or those over the harbour or the mountain would be romantic in any normal setting. For me it has been the WiFi for work when I've needed it and that has been fast and reliable. The beds are very comfortable - I actually sleep better at the Lenna than at home.

We stayed only one night at Lenna; moving there after the other hotel we had booked was unsuitable. Lenna was superb, an old-world heritage building attached to an accommodation block with all the conveniences. Staff at Reception were most helpful and cheerful, and the breakfast was good. There is a laundry room to get your wash done in an hour; don't forget to climb up to the Lookout Point in the main building for panoramic views of the city and harbor. The location, just off bustling Salamanca Place and the waterfront, is ideal; a 10-12 minute walk if you want to go up to Elizabeth Mall and other shopping in the CBD.

Friendly staff and updated rooms make this a pleasant stay. Water views were quite impressive from upgraded Room - possibly worth the extra money. Coffee pods in room were a nice touch. Plenty of rich architecture and grounds to take in. Hot breakfast downstairs was simple but excellent. Re Dinners; While they do offer to deliver takeaway from a couple of local restaurants, I have to say the only thing lacking was full room service. Happy hour in the bar was great - a unique space with heaps of character. Not your run-of-the-mill experience. Overall, would recommend. Will return if budget allows.

This hotel is beautiful. The old world charm is perfectly maintained and so beautiful. The bar in particular was divine, we called in for some pre dinner drinks and then when we returned we called in for a night cap and played some backgammon. I could've spent many more hours in front of the fireplace enjoying this place. Our room was nicely decorated, very spacious and extremely clean. Shower was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful especially the gentleman behind the bar. We would definitely stay here again, a very special place and surprisingly affordable.

I loved the Lenna so much, I didn't want to leave. Beautifully restored and maintained, it still has an elegant old world charm, even with the accommodation wing added in the 70s. Clean, spacious rooms, home-from-home dining and helpful, friendly, accommodating staff. A special thank you to Karen, who takes excellent care of the breakfast guests. Centrally located, it's close to everything, so a great base to work out of. If you're a history buff and appreciate the elegance of yesteryear, I would highly recommend a stay in this lovely old mansion.

My family and I just stayed at the Lenna of Hobart and absolutely loved it. We arrived very early and they checked us in as the room was available, provided extra coffee pods when we requested them and let us leave our car in the carpark for a few extra hours before and after we checked in/out. This hotel is in such a great location. We wanted to go to Salamanca Markets and it's a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The cafes on Hampton Road in Battery Point are excellent and again a few minutes walk. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Hobart for a few days.

Lenna of Hobart is perfectly located at the top end of Salamanca Place, in Hobart. Stunning architecture, gorgeous well-kept gardens, safe & easy access car park, welcoming, friendly and very helpful staff who were eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Very comfortable rooms, and great to be able to open the windows for the fresh harbour breeze. Views of the hills all around. In the hub of everything, yet quiet and peaceful. Perfect place for a holiday. Will definitely return. Thank you to everyone at Lenna, you made us feel very welcome.

This was a great spot, not overly flash but comfortable. Amazing location and got a room with views of the harbour without having to ask or pay. The complementary breakfast was brilliant, better than most restaurants. Super comfy bed. Would have given 5 stars but the rooms don't have AC and were a bit stuffy and there was a lot of street/ambient noise so leaving the windows open meant being woken up regularly. Will definitely still stay here again, just a heads up for anyone that likes to get early to bed or sleep in late.

Poor customer service.. My partner took me away to Hobart shortly after my mum died to ease my mind. I booked a hotel not realising he'd already done so, and obviously not thinking straight, was charged around $300 for not cancelling the booking. After explaining to reception why I hadn't remembered that I made the booking & that I never received a notification reminding me of any upcoming booking nor any notification that they were charging me any fees, she just shrugged and said it was too bad and that was how it works.. Zero customer service. Zero human empathy.

  • Eske Derks

We planned to stay here for 3 nights. The location is perfect and the rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. After 1 night, we were told by Tasmania government to self-isolate which was obviously quite stressful. We could extend our booking and the staff were very friendly and reassuring. They brought all our uber eat and woolworths deliveries to our room and left it at the door. Excellent service and definitely recommend staying at this hotel

We stayed in the king suite on March 5. For a room that was $495 for 1 night I must say we were very disappointed. The room was so stuffy. No aircon. Floor heating that cant be adjusted. So to create air movement the room has a fan. The fan was a very cheap brand that didn't oscillate, due to being faulty. We filled out our room service menu for breakfast to hang on the door as instructed. We wake up expecting to have breakfast waiting for us. I open the door and the menu is still hanging on the handle. Very over priced for a very average stay.

Building was superb but floors and walls were thin, so you can hear people talk next door and bath water running at odd hours. Our room could have done with modernizing with at least a more modern iPod stand. House keeping - they didn't replenished our bathroom stocks or some of our bevarage items (I hope it was an over sights). For $648/ 2 nights I was expecting a little better service than having to asking for basic items constantly.

This hotel is incredible great location. Exactly where you should be when in Salamanca right in the heart of the area and right near everything you need when in town Rooms are spacious and clean Linens are fresh and bed is super comfortable. Pillows are lovely and bathroom is well sized. Reception is welcoming and generally this is the place we will come back to when next in town. The amazing Saturday markets are right in this doorstep as are some amazing restaurants!! Love love love this place!!

Quiet location, large rooms and the heated floor in the bathroom was a nice touch. But we found it difficult to get the room warm enough and the split system wasn't able to generate much heat, at times seemed to make it colder. Overall good value and great location. Would stay again but not in winter as the room was particularly cold in the mornings, we stayed in mid July 2022 and the temperature was around 2-3 degrees outside.

Spent the weekend here on 13th and 14th of Feb. 2016. The moment we entered the room we could see that the bedding had not been changed from the previous guests. There were stains and hairs throughout the bedding. We complained and of course the bedding was changed straight away. Not a very good start to the weekend away. Very poor service and not really much of an apology. There was no air conditioning which also didn't match the price to stay here. Overall not that great.

Stayed here for my honeymoon in June. Upon check-in, the manager learned it was our honeymoon and quietly upgraded us to a beautiful park-view room and arranged for a bottle of wine to be sent up before we even got to the room. It was a lovely touch that made our stay even more special. The room was clean, comfortable and everything that we needed for two nights. The central location meant we could easily walk to the markets, shops and restaurants. Would stay here again

Lovely heritage hotel, located right on Salamanca place. The building has some nice 19th century feel to it. It’s divided into two, one hosting all the guest rooms (which are modern and well equipped ) and the other with the reception, bar/restaurant and some meeting rooms. We had breakfast twice and the daily special shakshuka was so fresh! The staff is courteous and there is free parking on the premises. Ticks all the boxes for me. Would return again when in Hobart!

It is an old but elegant hotel that locates near the busy area. Service is good and friendly. They do not offer free breakfast but this give you a chance to try some good cafe nearby or feel free to eat at their restaurant. However, they do have free parking, and it is really convenient. The Mountain View room is pretty good. Besides, my room can’t access Wi-Fi really well, but I got my own data, so it’s not a problem for me.

Very kind, professional and well-spoken receptionist. Hotel overall has a classy vintage feel when walking through and going up the lift. The room is lovely and especially impressed with the bathroom which has a really nice contemporary design with the elevated shower. Towels are really soft and have a neutral pleasant smell, probably the nicest towels I've used.

Wonderful traditional heritage hotel set back in the quiet streets of Battery Point. Easy access to the hustle and bustle of Salamanca, or head the other way for the peace and quiet of the cafes and houses of the back streets. The hotel is well appointed, with generous rooms and a lovely lounge bar. Off street parking, charming staff and quality fittings.

Nice hotel. But they didn’t tell us that a very loud function was booked, even when we paid (made sure they got full price) and we only found out about the function due to a scrap of paper in the room. The noise is intense and so loud that we couldn’t sit in the room and had to leave until it’s over. Giving the one star purely for the deception

I did not stay at Lenna, but at Salamanca terraces. I checked in at Lenna reception for my visit and had dinner in the lounge. The night staff were amazing and super accommodating. And the food was delicious.

Very friendly staff. They upgraded us and gave us a bottle of wine for our honeymoon. Room was cleaned daily while we were out exploring Hobart. Minutes walk to the pier and city. Loved everything about it.

  • James Botten

Beautiful accommodation with lush gardens, friendly staff and a great location that is within easy walking distance to Salamanca markets, Constitution dock and city centre of Hobart. Thoroughly recommended.

Hotel quite nice but let down by terrible wifi Advertised as free wifi but speeds abysmal, can’t even load a website Was told by reception to just pay more for faster wifi, no help at all, false advertising

The staff at Lenna were so helpful both before and during our stay for our wedding in Tasmania. The penthouse was spectacular!

Very good and lovely people. Only con is its in a hard place to get to if you own a large 4x4 but in saying that you can still fit in. In a perfect location to the Saturday market ans the warf.

  • Denis Guillot-Reid

The service was great. The room was exquisite. Over all my expectations were met or exceeded. I would highly recommend it as place to stay especially if you want to be well situated in Hobart.

The most beautiful hotel I enjoyed every moment there amazing building in the best location the service was excellent most recommended if looking for a hotel near Salamanca market and the CBD

  • Rahul Guha

Great location...different experience to your traditional hotel. Old building with old charms where the reception is a small room and push the old door to go to your room down the stairs...

  • Anthony Ferretto

Stayed here for a getaway. Good location, right by the market. Friendly and approachable staff. In house restaurant doesn't have a huge menu, but the food was great. Lava cake recommended!

  • Melissa Boyle

Lovely and relaxing, I was very comfortable and warm. There is a room key access carpark for security for your car too so you can sleep easy knowing your well looked after in every way :)

  • Sam

Lovely place to stay for the night. Steeped in history and a place where you can explore the hotel and be intrigued with it's many stories. Very friendly staff completes the experience.

Swanky period hotel right in Salamanca Place. The bed was way too soft for my liking and was two singles joined together which is a little surprising for such an upmarket place.

  • Tim Malseed

The room was really nice. Great location and views. The continental breakfast was probably the lowest budget breakfast I've ever seen. Fairly underwhelming breakfast really.

  • Rachael Ford

Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms and a cute little bar.

Lenna if Hobart is not an overly fancy hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient being right next to the Salamanca markets, bars and cafes.

  • Zhi Ping Chang

Really one of the best experiences we've had in tasmania. The hotel is in the right place to experience the beauty of battery point. The staff was really helpful as well

  • Christine Smith

Disappointed no in-house dinner was available. Takeaways offered as an alternative seemed down market for a quality establishment such as Lenna. If only we had known !

  • Andy Khin

Structurally brilliant site. Great atmosphere. I didn't actually stay here, I'm an engineer and was helping supervise construction on site, but I'm sure its great

The building is simply stunning. A huge Point of difference form the other hotels.

Great location right near Salamanca Square with a ton of restaurants in walking distance. Plenty of parking, nice rooms and not to expensive given the location.

  • Sasha Ivkovic

lovely historical building surrounded by park, restaurants, Salamanca place and battery point. Clean and spacious rooms with views on the park or the seaside.

  • Mandy Courtney

A very glamorous and stunning place to stay. Close to a Hobart has to offer. I highly recommend this place. Beautiful and helpful staff and impeccably clean.

  • Georgia W

Lovely hotel with character, friendly helpful staff and comfortable beds. Quiet at night too. Walkable to many restaurants, cafes and bars, plus Mona ferry.
