"Wanted to try this place for months and it was worth the wait! Ordered double chocolate chip cookie and spiced cookie (fall special) Worth the hype?? : Yup! To an extent definitely! They are as they say super delicious and chunky! Flavour: Loved the cookies overall especially when cold! Recommend not heating them before eating! Do combine it with coffee or something not too sweet to cut through the sweetness of the cookies Ambience: The bakery is quiet small with limited seatings options! Two rows of high chair seating and bench as well! The team was quite prompt and helpful! To keep in mind: If you want hot cookie do mention while ordering and not after! We missed informing them and so they threw the old ones out and got new hot ones! It’s quite wasteful!"
"The best cookies in NYC and frankly that I've ever had"
"Levain Bakery was on my NYC bucket list, so I'm very glad to have the chance to try it"
Not that Levain needs another review, but from a non-local standpoint, I felt the need to share my experience. It is a really, really good cookie. It is pretty solid in taste and texture. I personally love the somewhat under-baked center. Let me put it to you this way, we were in NYC for one week and we went to Levain 3 times. Some people think it’s ridiculous to spend $5/cookie, but honestly, the cookie is so ginormous that you eat it in two different settings (for me, anyway). I took off one star because the second visit we ordered 3 caramel coconut and they gave us all two chip chocolate chip (hubby wasn’t too pleased, as he was craving the caramel coconut). Also, we ordered a lemon loaf and although I’m sure it’s meant to be a dense loaf, it wasn’t very fresh. We’ve left New York and we still think about these cookies.
It was my first time here. I came to 74th street and a huge line outside made me even refuse this idea (as it was pretty cold day). Then i found another one on 77th street and went there. There was a line too, but at least inside and was moving fast. No space inside, if you'd like to sit and have a talk with your friend, definitely not the best place. Most people buy for to-go. Oatmeal raisin cookie was good, a lot of butter in the dough. But chocolate chip brioche was one big disappointment, cold, nothing special. Overall, I think I had overexpectations from this place. If u are a big lover of cookies, should try though. Update: warmed up brioche at home and it became tastier. So recommend it only warmed up, when chocolate is melted. Change from 3-star to 4-star

The best cookies in NYC and frankly that I've ever had. Very filling and delicious. The cookies are massive and always a goey, warm filling. Usually I get a few at a time, refrigerate any that I don't eat, and easily warm them up at home - just as good as right out of the oven! Chocolate chip walnut is my favorite, but I've also tried two-chip chocolate (second favorite), oatmeal raisin, and dark chocolate peanut butter - you can't go wrong! I've never tried it, but they also have gluten free options, coffee, and other pastries. I've been to Levain Bakery more times than I can count at their various locations and am never disappointed. Grab a cookie, walk and enjoy it in central park. You won't regret it and the line is always worth it!
Levain Bakery was on my NYC bucket list, so I'm very glad to have the chance to try it. Cookies are on the pricier end but are so overloaded with choc chip cookies. Absolutely love this style of thick cookies, and tasted much better when warmed up in the microwave for 15 seconds. My favourite was the OG choc chip walnut cookie but also loved the peanut butter one!

What a cookie. Big, rich, multiple textures make for an indulgent treat. We stopped by to pick up some cookies for the first time and the staff was super patient and friendly with us. Tried the double chocolate chip, chocolate chip walnut, chocolate peanut butter, oatmeal raisin cookies. All of them were great except the double chocolate chip was just too rich for me. Their non cookie items are great too. We also tried their cinnamon brioche and banana chocolate chip bread which were both moist and flavorful. Their coffee is also high quality as well if you are looking for an espresso based drink. It's nutty and smooth. Took a box back home to Canada
Still the #1 cookie on the planet. Someone that I tried this with thought it was to much chocolate but I disagree. I got a dozen cookies and it was pricy at $48 but worth every bite...worth every crumb . We chopped up each cookie into quarters so we could all try a different type and most of us could not eat a full cookie. Delicious. A must try. I also learned later that Levain sells dough in supermarkets in the freezer isle. Will try that soon, when I'm not up for the 1.5 hour drive from Long Island. Also service was fantastic. Very friendly and served with a smile. Highly recommend.
Been much more to the location at UES but recently had an occassion to visit this one in UWS. My fav is Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie because it has perfect combo of crispy outer surface and soft gooey inner texture with deep dark chocolate taste. But it must go with white milk or black coffee, otherwise that sweetness might throw you out of window. Banana Chocolate cake was also nice, but I learned that ordering two different menus that both has thick chocolate flavor makes it unappealing experience. 쿠키 너무 맛있어요. 두번 세번 여러번 드세요. 근데 꼭 하얀우유나 블랙커피랑 드시는걸 추천합니다.
By far the world's best cookies ever. They have a very extensive menu now but stick to the original cookies. The chocolate Chip walnut cookies are amazing. They are my fav. They will also pack them in a box for travel. The cookies will stay good for ~3 days and in the freezer for a longer time. I also tried one of the new cookies -- the rocky road and it was also really good. The place does not have a lot of seating. The best thing to do is buy the cookies and take them to Central Park and enjoy a picnic with some cheese and wine.
I wasn’t thrilled about spending $15 for a load of bread, a cookie, and a slice of banana chocolate cake. But then I lost the bag and felt as if a dear friend had passed. Then somehow I found my cookies and being reunited was one of the great joys of my life. Once found, I wasn’t going to risk losing them again so I had to eat it all on the spot... good decision. The walnut raisin bread was great. The cookie sublime. The banana bread was amazing. I can die now. Life is complete. Ok seriously. It was very good.
This place serves one of the best cookies in the world! Levain Bakery on the UWS offers incredibly fresh and delicious cookies and pastries - definitely get the Two Chip Chocolate Chip Cookies, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Cookie, and Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookie! Their original store is a block away. Staff is friendly and the service is quick! ⏲️ I wish I came here more often!

I’d heard of these cookies and pomade it a point to get one when I visited New York. The brioche was good but the cookie really delivered. These are the kinds of cookies that are absolute units, even larger than that of Ben’s cookies in London. The chocolate chips were practically molten and the walnuts were a necessary crunch and nutty flavour in the sea of sweetness. Is it the best cookie I’ve ever had? Maybe. If I had been asked when I was eating it I’d definitely say so.
Right before the visit of Levain Bakery on Amsterdam Avenue, I overheard new expression about bakery shop, not far away from Levain. The couple, standing outside bakery. One person to partner, "Their pastries and muffins Don't turn me On". So talking about Levain, Lemon pie and Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate, (just like that, this is name) cookie are Turn me On. Big time. Beside those, they have more to try. So be ready for unforgeable experience.
One of the richest cookies I've ever tasted, meriting this the best guilty pleasure cookie award for me. Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie - big and thick with crispy exterior and soft gooey interior with chocolate chips. Walnuts provide a nice aroma and crunch but the chocolate was a tiny bit too sweet and the butter flavour is very pronounced, I couldn't finish one cookie by myself along with the size. Check out @bredgyeats for food pictures!
Having watched enticing videos of Levain Bakery, I was curious. I opted for the two-chip chocolate cookie, and it was a delightful surprise. This cookie was soft and chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It's not your typical American cookie due to its impressive thickness, and the chocolate inside melted beautifully, creating a divine treat. To complement the cookie, I enjoyed flat white. Which was also very nice.
I have been to Levain once before and walked away happy. However tonight I had the double chocolate chip for the first time. It was warm and gooey and so rich I decided to save the rest for later. Hours later after sitting in my bag, I eat the rest and it is still so moist. Unbelievable cookie and great service!

Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip
First time in NYC and ended up going here 3 times in a matter of 2 days. Coffee cake was super moist and great ripples of flavor. Went back for some cookies and fell in love. Best tasting and super thick! I went back the next day and got more cookies to bring back home, and now I have no cookies left and just dreaming of going back to this place. Staff was super friendly and huge portions for the price! Love this shop.
Everyone knows the cookies are yummy. Super sweet. They are big, rich cookies, with a chewy center, but to my surprise the scone was even better. I love a scone. I'll even try the dry ones to compare, but this was top 3. Soft inside a light outer crust just the right amount of sweetness. Please grab a scone next time you go. If normally you think scones are flavorless and dry, this one might change your mind.
I go every time I visit NYC! My favorite cookies ever. They taste so good when they’re freshly baked out of the oven. Make sure you go to their newer location to avoid lines. You must get the chocolate chip walnut! I can eat about 2-6 in one sitting! I’m a beast! LOL. My favorite! All the other cookies are just as delicious! I always bring home at least 6-12 cookies. I feeeze them right when I get home! Lol.
I believe this one is the 3rd shop or location. However, it is so close to the 1st shop on W74th Street. The shop is bigger: roomy for forming the line. More space to eat in the shop. Cookies are as good as the original one. I tried to the first shop over 2 years ago. Still it is as awesome as I remember! The waiting time is a lot shorter! Hope I would have a chance back for more before I leave!
There are limited options however what is available is very tasty. The service experience was positive and fast. Seating area is very limited, a couple of tables outside. It is more of a pick up on the way to the park kind of place.

Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies
If I had more of a sweet tooth I may have enjoyed the iconic cookies more. Unfortunately they were far too dense and sweet for my taste. I prefer thin cookies that are crispy outside and chewy inside, but these more more like a cake/scone consistency. The dark chocolate cookie tasted like a straight up brownie which I wasn’t prepared for. Pass for me but I’m sure others would like it.
I love these cookies! They are so much hearty and not as sweet as other cookie shops. They use either semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips (not milk chocolate from what I can tell). Definitely a gem in NYC. Also, all the employees were super kind here and one actually let us try some coffee bread! Highly recommend checking them out! Also has a yummy vegan cookie option!
*latest update: went by with a friend and a lady beside me recommended their walnut raisin bread. I was convinced and it turned out she was right✨ Have tried all of the flavors and visited again for their limited flavor cookie! They have the most classic, elegant, thick and soft cookie. Also, their brioche bun was soooooooo delicious! Moist, soft, chewy, and buttery!
This is one of the best bakeries in new York city. They are best known for their cookies- a HUMUNGOUS- 6 ounce cookie, a littlr crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside (the perfect balance between a cookie and cookie dough). My personal favorites are the chocolate chip walnut, and the dark chocolate chip cookies, but all of the options are absolutely delicious!
Got their Vegan Chocolate chip cookie for my husband. More like a muffin than a cookie, but he loved that there are tons of chocolate chips inside and sadly that's about it. I also got a sticky bun which was dry and basically eating lots of walnuts...I'm sure there's a reason why people go nuts about this place, but it's just simply not for me and my vegan husband.
Lovely as ever. I've become a big fan of Levain over the last few months and this location is no different! I had their Two Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter cookies this time - all great. Two Chip and Oatmeal Raisin are vying for first place personally, but again - all varieties are worth a try. Friendly staff, clean interior, cute branding!
Cookies are cookies, even really good ones. But the cookies here really do taste and feel different, a surprising notch above. It's the texture. Certainly better than Crumbl, even though they may not be comparable products really. We bought four cookies. Definitely try to eat them while they're warm for extra fun. But even the next day, they are still so yummy.
Pricey, but delicious, baked goods. Levain is one of the few bakery chains in the area that sell chocolate chip and walnut cookies. Today the air conditioning provided sweet respite from the heat. There’s a customer-accessible fridge offering bottled water, OJ, lemonade, milk, and more. Service was friendly and the entire process ran like a well-oiled machine.
While visiting NYC I had to check out this bakery. I ended up getting the chocolate chip cookie with walnuts, coconut chocolate chip cookie, and the cinnamon butter brioche and all I can say is that this place did not disappoint! I am definitely returning and recommend anyone who is interested to just go! The cookies we’re probably the best I’ve had by far.
One of the best cookies I’ve ever had. The cookies were warm and freshly made. The oatmeal raisin and the chocolate chip coconut cookie were both delicious. There was a lot of options you can pick from. Although the cookies seem pricier side for $5 each, the quality speaks for itself. I would totally come back again when I’m in NYC, highly recommend!
It’s a small bakery situated in a basement. They limited the number of people to get in so the line was formed outside easily. Not much flavor to choose from but the cookies were so amazing! Soft inside and crispy outside, and it’s gigantic! Although I could not eat that much one time, would definitely buy it again when I come back to this nabe.
I had their fall chocolate chunk cookie. Cookies are very thick and big. I could not finish the cookie all at once, so I had to eat it over three days. I loved generous amount of big chocolate chunks in the cookie so that there was gooey chocolate chunks every bite I had. I also had their hot chocolate with oat milk which was also good!
These cookies are to die for. A nice, crusty exterior, but warm and gooey on the induct. The best of both worlds! Plus the servers are really friendly as well. Be sure to get a glass of milk or some coffee to wash it all down, you’re gonna need it. Though seating is limited and the lines may get long, these cookies are by far worth it!
The cookies lived up to the hype! We ordered a Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie, and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie. The dark chocolate cookies were our favorites - they are so delicious and gooey inside! We went midday on a Saturday and didn't have to wait in a long line either.
Definitely my fav cookies in the city. I highly recommend the classic chocolate chips and walnuts and the one with chocolate and peanut butter. This place is always kind of empty so I recommend buying some cookies here if you're in a hurry. Otherwise I would go to one of the other stores since they are nicer.
Decadent, indulgent, and rich. The exterior is delightfully crisp while the inside is ooey-gooey, somewhat undercooked and kind of raw. I liked the quality and chunks of chocolates they used. The service was friendly and prompt. It’s hard to compare these to conventional cookies; they are truly a treat.
Came here for their famous cookies and left super happy! Cookies were crispy on the outside and moist and soft on the inside - just like how I like my cookies! Tip: get a coffee (black or with just a touch of cream) as it pairs well with the sweetness of the cookie. Beware of the long lines!
I'm a pretty experienced (albeit amateur) baker and this blew my mind. These are on a league of their own. The one kind I would have never chosen myself (but suggested by the gentleman serving me) was the star- the coconut and caramel. Glorious. But, honestly, all the others were amazing as well.
The hype is real! The cookies? Even better! If you walk past Levain and don’t join the line you are missing out! We tried to get some cookies to bring back home for the family but sadly they’ll have to take our word for it as the cookies ended up being eaten before we got home …
We loved the cookies we bought at this place. They had several varieties and they were all extremely tasty. We also ordered coffee. And that was also very good. The price for the cookies and the coffee was also very decent seeing that this place is right in New York City. Thank you.
I have ordered these online and they were good, BUT having these fresh from the oven was MIND-BLOWING! The cookie was fresh from the oven and they advised me to wait about 5 minutes before eating the cookie. It was fall apart gooey. I got the walnut chocolate chip cookie.
The rocky road and chocolate chip brioche are deadly!!! The people behind the counter are so friendly. I love a cup of hot milk even in a summer evening when treating myself to such marvelously fresh baked goods. They didn’t hesitate to make me a cup! Highly recommended.
The limited Rocky Road cookies are absolutely amazing! They have a perfect balance of rich chocolate, gooey marshmallows, and crunchy nuts. Be cautious, though, as they are incredibly addictive. Enjoy them in moderation for a delightful treat! …
Currently the best tasting cookies in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, like everything in the UWS, prices creep up. Many may not see the benefit of a 5 dollar cookie. Some neighborhoods offer a hero for 5 dollars and a canned drink. In the
Super good cookies, and they’re huge! Although they were a bit expensive. The taste is great, nice and chocolatey. We got two chocolate chip, one chocolate chocolate chip, and a chocolate chip walnut. They were all good and such huge sizes.
Honestly I don't even think it can be called a cookie. It's more like a cookie-brownie fusion because it is THICC. This is my go-to snack during cheat days. Sometimes I'd forego eating lunch altogether just so I can save the calories for
The cookies are absolutely delicious. I'd like to review the vegan cookie (currently only one flavour is available: chocolate chip walnut) in particular, as someone who has tried both their original and vegan cookies. The vegan cookie
These are the best cookies of New York. Just go for the basic Chocolate Chip Walnut. Genuine big chunks of walnut, always served at perfect warm temperature, always look freshly made. Don't leave NY without having tried one of them!
From the iconic cookies and fresh baked goods, you’ll never go wrong with anything on the menu. They also have great coffee to pair with your goodies. It’s definitely a place to visit especially when you’re visiting NYC.
Hands down the best cookies in NY (their Banana bread is also phenomenal)

Massive cookie! Make sure not to eat one before a normal meal because it can fill you up! Gooey on the onside. Baseball sized cookie. Melty chocolate. Perfect place for tourists or to give as a gift box.
What a cookie! The greatest ones I've tasted so far! My absolute fave is the chocolate peanut butter ones (even though I don't usually like peanut butter!). Would def recommend these, worth every cent.
My first time at this location. It was bigger than the original store and more modern. Cookies tasted just as great as they always do. $5/cookie and they had a vegan chocolate chip that was delicious!
The best bakery in Manhattan. I just love their chocolate chip cookies. Visit the place at 8 when they open because the cookies they serve are still warm and the chocolate chips would even be melting.
Yea this place was pretty legit, the best cookie I’ve had in NYC easily. Is it the best cookie ever? Not quite, but it’s pretty damn close. Worth a visit if you’re in the city 100%.
The best cookies in New York, possibly the world. Levain has perfected the art of the crunchy exterior with gooey delicious interior. I recommend the chocolate chip walnut cookie
Very tasty latte. Also decided to get the baguette with butter and jam and it was very good and refreshing. The place is a bit small inside, but they have some seating outside.
A bite of heavenly Cookies . Every bite of this cookie is going to get you more closer to have another bite or May be buy one more and skip your lunch or dinner.
This bakery completely lived up to the hype! The service was great (the cashier waited patiently while my family sorted out our order. The cookies were fantastic.
I should have tried these famous cookie MUCH SOONER. The amount of chocolate chips inside of each one, it’s just ridiculous (thank you for that!!)
Quick, efficient service at this location. Cookie wasn't warm but we came around dinner time which is probably off-hours. Delicious!
Worth the calories. Gigantic and extremely tasteful, the Amsterdam location had more room than their original location.
Loved the scone option with my coffee today. Staff are friendly. What a great way to start the day westside
Great cookies but beware!! The size is huge. We had 1 for two people and we ended up full!
The best cookies I’ve ever had! Especially the coconut caramel chocolate chip cookies
