Light on Sugar is a charming coffee shop that I recently discovered and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots in town. The name itself perfectly captures the essence of the shop, as it is dedicated to serving delicious coffee and other beverages without overwhelming amounts of sugar. The atmosphere inside the shop is cozy and welcoming, with warm lighting and comfortable seating that makes it the perfect place to relax and unwind. One of the standout items on the menu at Light on Sugar is their cream puffs, which are simply divine. Each puff is light and airy, filled with a rich and creamy custard that is perfectly balanced in sweetness. They offer a variety of flavors, including classic vanilla and chocolate, as well as more unique options like matcha and lavender. These cream puffs are the perfect accompaniment to a hot cup of coffee, making for a truly indulgent and satisfying treat. Speaking of coffee, Light on Sugar serves some of the best coffee I have ever tasted. Their coffee beans are carefully selected and roasted in-house, resulting in a rich and flavorful brew that is simply delightful. In addition to coffee, Light on Sugar also offers a variety of other beverages, including grapefruit tea and Sakura lattes. The grapefruit tea is light and refreshing, with a subtle sweetness that perfectly complements the tartness of the grapefruit. The Sakura latte is a beautiful pink color and has a delicate floral flavor that is both unique and delicious. Overall, I would highly recommend Light on Sugar to anyone looking for a great coffee shop with a welcoming atmosphere and delicious treats. From their amazing cream puffs to their expertly brewed coffee and unique beverages, this shop truly has something for everyone.
Simple but very cute shop, there's also plenty of seating. The drinks are definitely pictures worthy and delicious! Just like the name suggests the pastries are not overly sweet which I'm super happy about! ☕️Tiramisu float: Wasn't sweet at all. On it's own, I probably wouldn't enjoy as much but with the pastries it was a nice addition. By itself though 6/10 with pastries 8/10 Ferrero Rocher puff: This was the sweetest one out of the bunch. I didn't think it was going to taste like the real thing but it was surprisingly close! 9.5/10 Mango puff: Get this!!! 10/10 Crême Brûlée puff: It wasn't my favorite but still great. It had a thin (a little mushy) flamed top. I was hoping for more flavor but my friend loved it. 7/10 for me. Matcha crêpe cake: Barely any sweetness in it. You eiter love or hate the flavor. If you like it, it has a good Matcha flavor, the dusted top does make it a bit messy. Very soft and creamy. 7.5/10. Ube crêpe cake: Very soft and creamy as well. The Ube flavor is there but I was hoping it was more pronounced. 9/10 Sakura Panna Cotta: If you never had a Panna cotta, it's kind of like pudding. I LOVE their packaging, in comes in this little glass container that you can reuse at home. It honestly tasted like a soft strawberry to me, I expected a different flavor but still fantastic! 9/10 The prices may be a bit high for some but for the quality you are getting makes every penny worth it. Definitely recommend! (No, I didn't eat all this in one seating but I absolutely was trying to )
Quality baked goods that look amazing and taste delicious! I don’t feel so guilty for eating the sweets I love because these don’t feel heavy. I used to buy cupcakes for a treat at a nearby bakery and I just felt so guilty after eating them but these pastries are so good and I don’t feel guilty at all. They don’t bother my stomach and they are also decorated in such a lovely way. I’ve gifted these to my loved ones so they can enjoy too and each has been so happy to receive them. I do wish they had a loyalty program because I’ve already been there so many times I’m sure I’d be a gold member by now lol. Truly a wonderful bakery with wonderful staff too. Really enjoyed this place and recommend it as a nice date or hang out spot. Also love that they rotate their menu.

We stopped at Light On The Sugar for tasty treats and were not disappointed! The cream puffs are a light, fluffy, not too sweet, delicate refreshing note after a meal. My only complaint about them is that they are a little too large. I couldn't eat a whole one. The pistachio tart with the dark chocolate crust was YUM. The bitter chocolate was offset by the light cream with pistachio notes on the finish. Slurp! We also tried the lemon tart and found it just the right level of tart. So many deserts these days just taste like piles of sugar. Not these! We were thrilled with everything we tried, and can't wait to go back. Seriously, though, please make smaller versions of the cream puffs. The only negative thing I can say about this location, and the reason this is 4 and not 5 stars, is that it's too small. There's nowhere to stand while waiting for your order, and next to nowhere to sit. Don't plan on staying...grab and go somewhere that's not so crowded. We scarfed our cream puffs in the car lol.
Very cute pastries, but as in recently my pastries have been packed poorly and mind you these pastries are about 8 dollars a pop and I do photography with them. When I get to the set to display the pastries the box on the outside has bit and pieces of the pastries because for whatever reason the person packing them it’s in a hurry even tho the shop is not busy, I’ve let it slide a few times and I started visiting the shop less so it’s been a month or 2 and Went again this past weekend and same thing happened it’s SOOO aggravating. Why aren’t they being more careful when packing these pastries ?? I’m paying money for the presentation of it to photograph it not for it to be smudged all over the box. So it’s disappointing again again aggravating I haven’t been able to get what I want from what I’m buying. Also I buy at least 4 pastries at a time. So I am spending money here to get aggravated.
I love this place! I used to drive all the way to Orlando just for the cream puffs but now they have one here in Jacksonville! The staff was super sweet, friendly, and quick! My favorite cream puffs are the ube cheesecake, matcha, and creme brûlée but they’re all super good! Pictured is the ube cheesecake, matcha white chocolate, Ferrero roche, and biscoff cookie cream puffs! The macarons are just as great. I haven’t tried their crepe cakes or other cakes yet but I’ll definitely be a repeat customer! They have rotating flavors on their items so make sure you check their IG page. They also do holiday themed puffs and goodies too! Thank you Light On The Sugar for your outstanding service and goodies!
The name on the store is true. The deserts are light on sugar, but that allows for the flavor of the food to shine. We had a slice of ube cheesecake & the strawberry shortcake. My children liked both of them, as did I. It's a small shop so it can look crowded, but the employees are quick & the line moves fast! For those used to sweet sweet deserts, the cheesecake is NOTHING like the cheesecake factory level sweetness (just for comparison sake). It's different, but delish in its own right.

Ube Cheesecake Slice, Strawberry Shortcake
COMPLETELY worth the hype. I bought: -iced strawberry matcha latte -raspberry & lychee macaron -strawberry & Nutella crepe -creme brûlée puff Everything I tasted was fantastic. The presentation is impeccable and the service was great. The prices are completely reasonable, especially considering that the drinks and pastries are cheaper than Starbucks & much much higher quality. My only complaint which isn’t in my opinion a reason to remove a star is that when they are at their rush hours (opening time in my case) there is no room to stand while you wait for your order without standing close to someone’s table or close to the people in line.
I used to be a huge fan of the bakery. I would always get the ube cheesecake cream puff. This last time I went the ube cheesecake cream puff was smaller and seemed a bit burnt but I also found hair in both my cream puffs. The ones handling the bakeries also kept touching their hair. I am sorry maybe it was a bad day for them since they were busy. But I just don’t feel to thrilled to have only bit my cream puff once and came with hair. The cashier shout out to her though she was super nice and sweet but the other lady that came she was pretty rude and just kept mean mugging me. I was polite and nice so idk why she was in a bad mood.
Heard about them through a Facebook group, so we decided to take a peek after going to Ulta. It is such a cute space and the food is delicious. We had the strawberry cream puff (which looked like a little critter), mango panne cotta, and a strawberry matcha latte. Best of the bunch was the cream puff. It even had the craquelin! The person who had the mango panne cotta liked it, but had never had a panne cotta so had nothing to compare it with. It, too, was packaged adorably in a little glass cup. The strawberry matcha latte needed a little sweetener, but after we made a simple syrup, we were golden. Will definitely be back.
Coffee is 10/10, I got the Tiger Sugar latte and it comes iced and balanced. I ordered the pistachio dark chocolate tart and it was very flavorful. The pistachio paste on the top does it! I also got the biscofft cake slice and was fresh and delicate, but also flavor- filled. This place is sooo cute and totally a vibe, very photogenic. Very clean and new still. I wish the menu items were a little bit more descriptive; there are three espresso & matcha lattes but they all have different names and same descriptions. I could’ve looked it up but I went with the tiger sugar which I’d been exposed too before today.
We went in, there was no line and we ordered quickly. The workers seemed a little confused, but since this just opened it will take awhile to get acclimated. Overall, they have a variety of pastries - cream puffs, tiramisu, cake slices and coffee and teas. The cream puff was light but I felt had a bit too much cream. It tasted good though. The tiramisu was ok, felt there was just something missing from it. I'm ok with spending a bit more, but I didn't feel like the taste was there. A little disappointed. Would be willing to go back and try out other things.
This place was BUSY and it was SO good! I wish I had tried more things while there. There were so many options to choose from. I had the matcha crepe cake and it was bomb. If you like matcha I highly recommend! This place is located in town center shopping area so it’s congested on weekends and some weekdays. I was able to find parking across the street and just use a cross walk to get to the store. Seating inside and also outside. Customer service was very good! I was in and out with my food in 5mins.
Light on the Sugar is a new bakery in the town center area. They specialize in coffees and sweets such ad cheesecake, cream puffs and more. We tried the Creme Brulee Cream Puff, the Strawberry Cream Puff and the Fererro Rocher cream puff. Wow, they were all amazing. The puffs themselves have a light crispy texture and aren’t too sweet. They are full of freshly made whipped cream. I could definitely eat a lot of these. Highly recommend if you are in the are and looking for a sweet treat and coffee.
Blown away by the quality of their pastries. Their coffee is out of this world as well... what more can you ask for!?! I was impressed by the presentation of each item. Everything was painstakingly made with attention to detail. Their matcha cream puff was amazing. Loved the black forest and blueberry lemon tarts. You can't go wrong with the tiger sugar latte. All in all, there is something here for everyone. Be a little adventurous and try something new, they will take great care of you!
A very cozy little pastry shop. Their caramel Biscoff crepe cake and teddy black forest chocolate tart were delicious BUT the pistachio dark chocolate tart was OUT OF THIS WORLD! The pana cotta was light yet creamy. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel a greater selection and number of pastries are required in such a high volume area like the St. John’s Town Center. On a weekend, be prepared for them to be sold out of majority of their offerings by 1 pm.
The two girls working Halloween night were SO rude. My boyfriend and I were excited to go there for the first time, and when we walked in they ignored us. Acted like they were trying to silent argue who would actually come assist us; and when he asked if they take cash, instead of speaking just just shook her head and looked everywhere but at us to acknowledge our existence. We left. And went to one of the local ice cream shops instead.

The cheesecake is absolutely amazing. It's one of the best I ever had. I haven't tried the other 2 items yet but if they are anything like the cheesecake I bet they are amazing too. This place has a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. I will be returning and recommending to others

Creme Brulee Cream Puff
Small place & it was packed on New Years Eve. Picked up a few cream puffs, cheesecake & had a latte on New Years Eve. Quality is good, seems less sugary but I would like to see the official sugar count in the pastries. The official word from the staff was, focus was flavor & not sugar & their products are not necessarily light on sugar as the name goes. From the taste, it seemed less sugary but I don't eat pastries often so maybe I know nothing.
The quality here is exceptional. Delicious flavors with great execution- ube to your more traditional creme brulee type stuff. Probs have good kitchen hygiene because the pastries last a reasonable amount of time in the fridge.

Ube Cheesecake Cream Puff, Creme Brulee Cream Puff
Came here after being turned off at The Yard, and boy are we glad we did! The Ube Puff is divine. And the Mousse Tea is perfection. The 9 year old raved about how messy and delicious the Cookies and Cream Puff was - all mess due to hi enthusiasm! Lol This is their soft opening, and it was packed, but they were so efficient and so sweet! We had ordered and were enjoying our treats quickly and with no pressure. 6 stars if I could!
This place is adorable, has kept a consistent crowd of people without much of a wait. The staff are kind, upbeat and so welcoming, which for me makes a huge difference. The desserts, were amazing, the texture on the cheesecake was perfect, it wasn't too sweet without it tasting too much like cream cheese and the creme brulee cream puff melted in our mouths. Definitely a place to try if you haven't.
I had a good experience at Light on the Sugar. The creme puffs were delicious and well-presented, but I was a bit disappointed with the crepe cakes. The ambiance of the place is cute and charming, but it's definitely on the pricier side. If you're looking for a special treat, I would recommend giving Light on the Sugar a try, but don't expect anything too extraordinary from their crepe cakes.
Cute café with tasty treats. Definitely a nice place for a coffee date. I tried the Biscotti crepe cake and the NY cheesecake and they were decent!

I visited Light On The Sugar Bakery almost at closing time so I didn’t get to try a lot of their selection, nonetheless, they were still very attentive with their customers. The place is clean and very Instagramable, the decorations are so pretty and this is a perfect spot if you want to hang out with your friends and try really good pastries and sweet.
Very nice and warm interior. Friendly staff. They are only doing a soft opening, so they are card-only at the moment, no cash. Had the Taro Latte and Cappuccino and they were both very good. Nice and rich flavor. The Creme Brulee Cream Puff was delicious. Nice and crunchy exterior with a delectable nutty flavor. The cream was light and fresh.
The place was very clean and I guess friendly. I came in rather late so there were no crepe cakes, but I got a dark chocolate pistachio tart and an crème brulee cream puff. I can definitely say the items are less sweet then American palates are used to, which is nice. I wouldn't say it's the best Asian style bakery in the area though.
No wait. Service was great. Food was light and tasty and did not leave you feeling over stuffed and uncomfortable. Tried the ube cheesecake slice. It was smooth and light and not overwhelming. The blueberry cake box was creamy and full of flavor with just the right amount of tartness. Definitely worth a trip back.
This place is great! My mom got some family and I a few desserts from here for a family get together and they really do it right. There is still a great taste to all the desserts without an overbearing sweetness common among most Americanized foods. I would definitely recommend you give it a try.
I’ve been there once per a friend post and I must say that my Sakura drink was amazing. I’ve tried it because I love matcha tea but, I’ve never tried it with expreso however, I was pretty impressed. I have also tried their creme brule puff and it was delicious. I am looking forward my next visit.
What a cute spot! the fruit tea was delicious! the macaron was tasty and adorable. They have a huge selection of cream puffs and all the ones I tried were amazing! Especially the creme brulee one. The Earl grey crepe cake was tasty too. I can't wait to visit again and try the Ube cheesecake!
Cream puffs are delicious, a few other items I think are over priced cake slices. For look and taste 5 stars, but I bought a fruit tea (which was delicious), but I watched them make it and it was 2 - 3oz of liquid/tea and then a ton of ice, I paid $5 for 90% ice. That was very disappointing.
My first time there I thought "7.95 seems kinda steep for a tart". Nope... I was wrong... totally worth it. I've been back multiple times since and enjoyed everything I've had. My top favorites are the pistachio tart and ube cream puff

I love this place. I'm so happy Jacksonville finally has cool Asian dessert this place has all we need, trendy and good for your pictures. definitely, I will be regular customers. tips :all dessert not sweet like American style but a little healthier than normal dessert 100% …
I wasn’t wowed by the option I ordered but it was good: light (as the name suggests) and satisfying. My son enjoyed his crème puff and the ambiance. It’s a nice spot to come to end the night or just gif a chill moment. I will definitely come back and try their other options.
My friend and I stopped by because they told me they had been waiting for this location to open in Jacksonville. Their cafe was super cute and the desserts were adorable. I got the tiger stripe latte and it was SO GOOD! Will definitely be back for more.
Everything in the dessert case looks awesome and was hard to choose. We got the ubé crepe cake slice and the crème brulee puff and they were great! I love ubé and I like that they had multiple options with it. I will definitely be back to try more :)
Amazing pastries, amazing hot beverages and amazing service. I highly recommend this bakery as the pastries are not overly sweet and very light. The Sakura latte is a perfect pair with any pastry. Extremely happy to see another Asian spot in JAX!
Asian people will love this place. It's much less sweet than these American bakeries. Strawberry shortcake is excellent. They use very fresh strawberries to make the dessert and the strawberry sauce in the cake. The latte is very good too.
Their decor is beautiful! Their cream puffs are soooo good! My recommendation is the Ferrero Rocher flavor. The Tiramisu Float is my ABSOLUTE favorite, and the Lychee Rose Lemonade is so gorgeous and so good! This is my new favorite spot!
Delicious I’m very happy that I came. My fist time and won’t be my last. Very fresh pantries very soft light on the sugar for sure, but you can still feel the sweet of each ingredient. Congratulations for this amazing place
To say I am obsessed with this place is an understatement. They have the actual best, pastries ever! I can’t get enough of their crème brûlée puff. It’s also nice seeing all the special additions that they do weekly.
I had been eyeing up the Lychee Tea since I saw it on their Instagram. Finally went and got it, and it was so good. I got the green tea lychee then went back the next day and got the oolong tea lychee lol. Both good.
Very overpriced, a small mocha is $6. The pastries look great but did not try as they are $5 each.

Loved this place!!! Really good coffee and the lemonades are really good. We tried 2 different cakes and they were incredible!!! The passion fruit lemonade 1000% recommended! I’d love to come back soon!!!
I was so excited for Light on The Sugar to open up in the Town Center and it did not disappoint. We ordered the crepe cake tiramisu which was rich and creamy. I can’t wait to try the other desserts here!
Helpful staff, well decorated, clean, cute deserts. We got two different cream puffs that were beautiful but lacked flavor. Thankfully, they were not too sweet. Price point may be off.
Service Food We been her many times and I can believe that I only have to pictures pretty much I have tried every dessert
It was so good! I usually like to take a pic of my sweets but took the first bite and I couldn’t wait and finished it lol I got the creme brulee they had and it was amazing
I've loved this place before the Jacksonville location opened. Cream puffs are their specialty but they have other delicious desserts. The drinks are also well made.
The pastries and desserts are semi sweet, but delicious. Loved the crepe cake. They have a wide variety of drinks. Definitely one of the better cafes in the area.
The only place In Jacksonville where you can find Irresistible deserts ! So happy that they opened in town center Their rosé lemonade is out of this world …
Exactly as named, the delicate, light on sweetness, yet precisely well formed desserts, with a delicate taste I loved! I enjoyed the Tiramisu dessert, this trip.
Amazing coffee and dessert! I asked the barista what she recommended and she did not steer me wrong with the pistachio crepe cake and pistachio iced latte.
Amazing Bakery! I love the pastries here, and the Ube Puff is my absolute favorite! Definitely a spot to check out for dessert that’s not overly sweet.
Delicate food, clean environment and great service! When you take the first bite of the puff, you would be like “WOW, it’s so good and not too sweet!”.
You have to try this place for after dinner desserts. It’s light and not to heavy after a meal. I even went back for to-go desserts it was so good.
I had a yummy tiramisu and loved it! Strong espresso taste, which I loved! It wasn’t too sweet so I guess you can say they are true to their name!
My daughter and I opted for the teddy tart and it was amazing! Very well balanced and not overly sweet. 10/10 will definitely go back!
Everything was delicious! We also had a pistachio tart not pictured that was also amazing. Definitely coming back and would recommend.
Every single dessert is a pure perfection. Love that everything is truly light on the sugar. Though I wish they had calorie counts.
Stop by with family for coffee and dessert. We ordered tiramisu float, tiger latte, and taro latte. All were made to perfection.
I love this place. I have enjoyed everything I’ve bought from there

Absolutely the best ever puffs we’ve ever eaten! Delicious cream filling, beautifully decorated and presented!!!
Just wow. The Ferraro Rocher cream puff was amazing! Friendly staff and clean seating area. Coffee is good tool
Nice place. I have not tried the baked goods, but the coffee was good. I also like the cafe’s aesthetic.
Absolutely delicious! Got the creme brulee cream puff and lemon blueberry tart. They were perfect.
My new favorite dessert place. Everything not to sweet, just perfect. Such a variety of tastes!
Matcha crepe cake was delicious. Brought girlfriend here. Girlfriend was very happy. 5 stars.
Will definitely be coming back. (Ube cheesecake crepe cake and biscoff cream puff pictured)
