Great if you like a self-guided tour. There was a helpful staff there to answer any questions we had. The centre is fairly small with lots of taxidermy and preserved insects inside along with animal pelts and Indigenous regalia. There are lots of native plant species growing along the walking path. The path is quite narrow, so you would have to walk in a line if you are traveling in a group. The museum allows for cutting some of the plant species - specifically the sweet grass and sage. Just make sure you do not disturb plants that are going to seed, and you should be fine. Overall, the experience is quite informal and free, which are the two main reasons I enjoyed my time there.

Watch for ticks. The museum itself is nice. The prairie is ok. However, after taking only half the tour we came back with something like 6 ticks on all of us immediately following. We found one biting on my son's ear later in the day and one biting on my wife's side just before bed time. Be sure to wear light clothing, long pants, tuck in your pants to your socks, and check thoroughly after your visit. The tour guide could use a warning regarding ticks.

This is a wonderful spot! I've been going fo over 10 years and it is always calming to be here, even just to go on a walk. I've also taken part in their programming, both the butterfly festival and their summer programs and we've enjoyed it a lot. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. Overall just a great place to be!

There is nothing like a walk in a field, or to take in the beauty of the nature just at our doorstep!! I come here often to take pictures or just to enjoy the peace and quiet. Many times I have spotted deer, and it's always so amazing to see such a majestic animal in it's own environment. I am so glad to have this place so close to home so I can enjoy it often.

Open house was excellent! Our tour guide, Josh, was very knowledgeable in all that is "Prairie ". Thanks for the milkweed plant! It's going in the ground tomorrow morning! Update. 2023. The milkweed plant that I got from you has finally started growing nicely!

Comprehensive information about prairie flora and fauna. Seeds are available to buy to plant at home. Many native tools and bison skins with various taxidermied birds. Walks through paths in the prairie preserve area give an opportunity for peaceful experience and for inspiration for art. Lots of plant species grown on site for physical reference.

Went to their monarch festival. Staff and volunteers were so friendly and cheerful. Too much to explore in the hour that we were there and the kids were engaged with the various crafts. We will have to come back to see the sheep!

Visited with my daughter and her classmates on a school field trip. The staff there are extremely friendly and fun. We have gone back since to walk the trails. It is a great piece of nature right in the middle of the city. If you enjoy nature and walks in the park I strongly recommend you check this place out

A step back into time right within the city. This is really an oasis. Several acers of undisturbed prarie that gives you a look at what flora existed in the great plains prior to European settlement. Well worth a morning!

The self guided tour needs far better markers and trails. The points of interest are often generic and not related to a specific point in the trail. Museum inside is good but I went during monarch butterfly festival so there were other temporary displays inside

There is some very interesting plants if that is your thing. It is natural and beautiful. If u r looking for an exciting time its not here. Ur if you are into plants, Manitoba plants and wonderfully kept grounds this is ur place

  • Mango Pit Graveyard

my favourite place in winnipeg :) walking through the grassy paths in late summer/early fall, the bugs jumping and humming, perfection. if you can find The Special Bench, it’s my most treasured spot in this whole scary town :)

If you drive an e-bike I'm talking to ones that look like bicycles it's a wonderful experience peaceful and tranquil a great place for a family or just take somebody out on a date the summer months would definitely recommend

Difficult to navigate a bus in the parking loop. Recommend one loads and unloads passengers on the street. North end of access street connects to a residential street so buses use caution. No place to turn around .

  • Linda M

They are dedicated to the preservation of prairie grasses and flowers, which in turn preserve whole ecosystems of butterflies, birds etc. I love the spring plant sale (Prairie Flora from Teulon) …

  • Gary Thomas

Went there for snow shoes days and no better value than free!! Free rentals on the snow shoes and hot chocolate and treats. It was great to see so many people just enjoying and embracing Canadian winter!

  • Desi H.

Great for walks and bike rides, and some extra stuff, like the goats, and Prairie plant sales. Not your standard grassy park land but very nice to have in the neighborhood.

A rare example of untouched Prairies. Helpful guides and booklets inside the interpretation Centre. If you enjoy pristine nature, an interesting hike or walk, go for it!

  • Alyson Coffey

The tour was super neat. We took our 5- 8 year olds for a field trip and the presentation about bumble bees was great. There was so much for the kids to do there.

  • Angie Houston

It was my 1st time there.. I had a wonderful time with my son on his fieldtrip... I learned alot today just like the students.. We will certainly be back...

Great interpretive centre and remnant/restored prairie trails. They also sell rare nature books and host native plant sales. A hidden treasure in Winnipeg.

  • Janine del Rosario

I just love thinking about how large the prairies were at one time. I can envision the nature and the wildlife that once was.
