Ate here for the first time Friday evening. Service was fantastic and friendly, atmosphere is great for drinks and games on a weekend. The lou’s lager was on special- would not recommend as it tasted like water. The Peach beer was awesome! Had a wonderful peach flavour I also would equate it to a sour beer however this aspect of it was light. Extremely disappointed in the food. Tried two of the appetizers- Mac and Cheese bites and Bbq Pork Potchos and the main fish and chips (that was also on special). Mac and cheese bites tasted like they were from frozen, not made in house. Sirracha mayo tasted more like buffalo however my boyfriend really appreciated the peppered Ketchup. Would not say that the mac and cheese bites are worth the $14. The bbq pork potchos were awesome at the start- made with waffle fries that were delightfully crispy however the problem was the pork. It was advertised on the menu as pulled pork yet there were massive chunks/ strips that needed to be cut- was not pulled at all. We were expecting a saucy bbq sauce however the pork was dry and had a yellow colouring. the taste of the seasoning on the pork was off-putting and as a result we did not end up finishing the potchos. We talked to the server and she said we could substitute the protein which may be a better option in the future. Fish and chips were crispy and delicious however, we were disappointed in portion size. When ordering fish and chips and the fish being Haddock, we are used to fillets being long and size of the plate. We ordered a two piece fish and chips and the fillets were the size of frozen fillets you get from Highliner. Definitely not worth the regular price of the two piece ($22). The flavour and crispness maybe makes it worth the special price ($16) but just don’t expect to share. If the fish was Halibut, I would say the portion would be adequate for the price.

Arrived at 520 to get some food and drinks before the Jim Jeffries show at 7pm. We hoped to sit on the patio because it was 20 and sunny. Patio was closed, everyone inside. We were told to sit anywhere we could - found a spot, took a few minutes for the server to arrive. We ordered a beer and a highball and tried to order a pizza (as it was on special and we saw it was busy so we thought we’d order all at once) but they were out of dough, so we ordered two burgers instead. The drinks came but the highball (vodka and 7) had a piece of dill floating in it and a very strong taste of dill, either the glass wasn’t cleaned or was mixed with a used spoon - not sure. Server didn’t return and served tables around us but didn’t come back even once the beer was finished. We went up and ordered another drink at the bar. To emphasize the strange atmosphere, one of the servers, or a customer, not sure who, threw an empty pitcher on the ground at the bar (seemed like the servers were overwhelmed with the rush and we’re getting angry) Burgers came at 620 and were cooked, but cold and seemed like they’d been sitting in the kitchen for a while - we ate quickly and got the bill just in time to leave to the show. Thankfully the messed up highball wasn’t on the bill, but the whole experience was not awesome. Probably never coming back.

The owner is amazing. He gave us $100 worth of game cards for his arcade in our birthday! Then he kicked our butts in pool! And the food is amazing! Great deals for college students! The busiest day is Wednesday because of the $5 for 1lb of jumbo wing nights. It’s crammed, but expected. For a deal like that, it’s not surprising. And the staff is awesome! The guy that works the bar is great! And that chef is gifted! Best burgers you will ever have! $20 is nothing compared to the size of the burgers. 3 huge patties! You can spend hours here and not get bored. Just a great place in general to go to after a full day of classes. Although it is 18+ because of the VLT’s. But still an awesome place! A good tip is to donate an 8 ball for the pool table as it always gets stolen. They are on Amazon for $15.

Looking for a classic dive bar experience with good food, reasonable prices and quick service? Loco Lou's is your place. The crowd is diverse, with a smattering of regulars, students from SAIT and random assorted folks that traverse the Number 1 highway/16th Ave, which Loco Lous is situated along. The food is both tasty and affordable and the beverages flow easily from the tap to your table. The servers were attentive to customers and wouldn't leave you with an empty drink for long. All in all the dive bar experience with it's unfocused ambiance, random music and drunk regulars is a dying breed replaced by the homogeneous curated experiences of pricey high end bars - which is great. But, there's something to be had from the freedom in just watching things work and being pleasantly surprised in a dive bar. 10/10 would go back to Loco Lou's 2.0!

Went for Wing night. Was informed up front the menu was wrong - the wings were 45 cents instead of 39 - that's fine. But when the bill came, it also turns out lots of other prices were wrong - the two sides of sauces, as well as the veggies I ordered, were double the price on the menu. When I brought this up, I was told "Yeah sorry they haven't changed the menus yet." Yes, it's not your fault as a server, but it's not my fault as a customer. Fix your menus or be willing to change the price on a receipt. Was never served a napkin... on wing night. When I asked for one at the end of my meal, I waited for about 8 minutes to receive one. The wings themselves were ok at best. Not very large or juicy, and though I ordered a wet sauce, they were fairly dry - as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. I wouldn't go back.

I went here last week to see the new arcade additions as well as to see if it lived up to all the stories I've heard over the years from my SAIT friends. It was a quiet night and service was a little slow as they only had one person working, but our server was quite nice and friendly. I didn't find the food to be particularly special and it lacked flavour. I noted the higher price ranges as well which would seem a tad pricey for student budgets. The arcade games seem very promising and are a nice addition, but don't expect the selection from a full sized barcade. Overall, it has the potential to be a fun and casual place for a night out without having to wait in downtown lines.

Myself and some college friends went in last night for a couple drinks, and never have I had worst service in the first 5 minutes of being in an establishment. Firstly the male server said our ID’s were “sus” because we were all from different places, LIKE HE DOESN'T WORK ACROSS THE STREET FROM A COLLEGE WHERE PEOPLE COME FROM EVERYWHERE FOR EDUCATION. Then he decided to send another girl over to check our ID’s and after smacking three pieces of ID down on the table we were able to finally order a drink. Good food and all but if your going in there make sure to bring your birth certificate and others or you might be told your valid ID is “sus”

I had dinner here with my husband before the City and Colour concert on Tuesday. The roasted chicken pizza was delicious. It tasted fresh (dough is made in-house) and I loved the house made barbecue sauce. The reason I am giving three stars is because I had excitedly ordered the hot traxx as well but after a few bites, I noted the fries were lukewarm and soggy. My husband noted it looks my order sat too long since our server brought the appetizer the same time as our main. Our server also didn't check back on us until we were far well into our meal, and our request for water was slow and came at the end with the bill, which was disappointing.

Marketing campaign (door hanger) got us in the door. Very 'local' vibe with a strong student flavour present. Lou's has some wear & tear visible, but not too worn out. Great patio .. enjoyable when it gets warm. Bartender was running the entire floor ... and did an amazing job at keeping the drinks flowing for what seemed the entire place. If he wasn't as efficient I'd wonder why there wasn't a server working with him. Good drink specials ~ food was good (nachos) and they have a 4 hour game card special. Noisy (expected) and a few over-enthusiastic game players (expected) to keep in mind when you're planning a Loco Lou's '2.0' visit

Either extremely poor management scheduling or everyone just called in sick. There was only 1 guy (not even a bartender to help) for the whole restaurant. We didn't even get a menu for about 30min, there was no QR codes either. We ended up googling the menu ourselves on our phones. It was a Saturday evening which makes it even more surprising. We had a vegan and gluten-free friend though and nothing on the menus accommodated them so we ended up leaving. I would like to reiterate no menu no water for a 30 min wait before leaving. Don't blame the waiter because he was the only person on a Saturday evening. Blame management.

This is my favorite neighbourhood pub, no contest around here. The staff is way nicer, the atmosphere is just awesome. especially their patio is unique and cool to chill on, if weather is cooperating. Fri & Sat nights it gets kinda packed with kids from the sait dorms & university students so i tend to not stay late weekends to avoid feeling my age :) other than that i can't think of any negatives about the place, the pizza is freakin amazing too, i wish they would deliver. I go there and order a draft just so i can get a pizza to go sometimes. I give this place 10 out of 10 big smiling hangovers.

Great place to hang, I come here all the time with my best friend. This time, we had a new lady-Jasmine was a our server and she was great! More attentive than our previous servers, not throwing shade but she was very good at asking if all our needs were met and we liked that, as a busy bar we understand that service is high. Normally we just come for drinks but the last 2 times I came to Lou's the food was delicious, I ordered the beef dip and it was juicy AF. it's actually a little special to me now, I will have fond memories of this place

Very nice building, the food is decent, the drinks are ok, but its definitely not the place it used to be a few years ago. Everything is about twice the price it was before, and drinks are insanely expensive even on special and pretty weak. Dont go here if you want to save money or get drunk, but otherwise its a fun place with a great atmosphere. PS. The tipping options on the pinpad at the end of the night are 18%, 20%, 25%, and 50%. Its a little ridiculous, especially for a lower income area beside a university.

The food here was nothing short of exceptional, and the burger in particular was fantastic. The service was also prompt and exceptional. The manager (owner?) was super friendly and definitely made a strong impression. I'll definitely be coming here again on a future visit to Calgary. If I had any complaints, it's strictly that it's difficult to find a parking spot. However, even with that being an obstacle, I can't wait to come back in the future.

Took an hour to get our food when it wasn’t even busy. Waitress messed up our order and completely forgot to put my burger on the bill. Then after reminding them twice about it, it still never came. Everyone else was having issues with their orders including not receiving orders, being double charged, not getting anymore water or utensils or ketchup. I literally have no idea how everything went as wrong as it did and the staff even got frustrated with us like we had somehow ordered wrong. Loco is a good name for this place.

The food…the waffles fries were so soggy and there was like 5 of them…the salad that was supposed to come with dressing and protein did not come with either and then the waitress goes “I’m not going to charge you for this” huh? The owner doesn't hesitate to have a conversation about how to make things better. That's what makes a great place. Someone willing to improve. He seems to treat his staff great and make the place enjoyable. If you have a bad experience with a waiter or a waitress give the next one a chance to enlighten your experience. Ordered shots got them 3 hours later food took 45 minutes to get and order was wrong and still charged me full price even though I had to put the pulled pork on my own burger plus I think it was missing other things ask about my side and the waitress said she didn’t here me say pickle fries even though I saw her write it down but the games are fun other than street fighter which took my money and did nothing

Haven't been here in ages since I was going to SAIT almost 20 years ago. Was driving by and felt like trying the place again for dinner. Was not disappointed. If you and your friends are looking for a new pub to call your "spot", I highly suggest making your way to Loco Lou's! This bar has been a staple of 16th Ave for over 20 years. The new ownership has really taken this bar to a new level. By adding the Arcade games and even encouraging customers to beat the GM's high score on Basketball, I've never felt more welcomed to an establishment! Great service from all staff. Will definitely be heading again soon!

All around a great experience every time at Lous. Great food at affordable prices, plenty of drinks and drink specials, and the staff and owner are all amazing. If you're looking for awesome food that won't break the bank, with exceptional service, I highly recommend going in. There is no shortage of entertainment between the numerous tvs, free pool, arcade games, and VLT.

Such a welcoming atmosphere. Had the privilege of sitting on the deck today under the heater. Our server Alex was on top of drinks making sure they were never empty, and the food was fantastic (as always). The owner Gary stopped by on multiple occasions to see how our experience was and even hooked us up with a table under the heaters once it became available. With the C train being only a block away there is no reason not to check out this gem.

Worst service ever. My husband and I went for dinner, we were seated and our drink orders were taken. The waitress did not offer or bring menus. She also waited until we were completely done our beers and had been sitting waiting for 10 minutes to ask if we wanted another. We went there looking for dinner, and left unimpressed before we even had a chance to ask for a menu. The server was more interested in the group of men who came in after us.

Our group had a big game get together here on a Saturday afternoon. They were super accommodating of our unique request to have two spaces dedicated to our group, and our rushes of service requests between game rounds. Service was still outstanding and they were super happy to assist. Love the atmosphere as well!

Cute waitress, good service, and better food than I remember, and its right across from Sait. Ordered deep fried pickle and a couple beers Friday and the service and food were good. Ordered a Funguy (mushroom swiss) Burger and really enjoyed it and again, good service. Staffing might be a little low right now due to covid and lack of Sait students, one waitress and a male server who I assumed was the manager serving everyone.

If your looking for a good place, great service and amazing food especially when your looking for life's justice stop by loco lous 2.0 there you'll find it all.. we are regulars here and enjoy coming back here for that exact reason. Wonderful servers to look for especially are Justice and Alex they make this place round. Make it an experience.

3 other people and I ordered a couple drinks and a pound of wings on wing night. The waitress spilled a hot spicy wing on my shirt and didn't come back with anything to clean it up, or compensate for the wing that she dropped on the floor. They took 20 minutes to get 2 beers and never gave us napkins, but we got our lukewarm wings and potato skins in a timely fashion. Fantastic restaurant, fun for the whole family

I would of liked to be able to comment on the food, drinks and service but unfortunately we were turned away at 5:20pm on a SATURDAY as it was apparently “all full” even though there were multiple empty tables and spots at the bar. My partner asked if we could wait and have beers until we were able to order food and still were told to leave due to “no staff”. Very weird for so early the weekend…

I love Loco lous. Sid and Carley are great servers and people i love them they definitely know what there doing. They are We try to come once a week for lunch. Fun atmosphere. The food is awful - yeasty pizza that's somehow raw and overcooked at the same time - GROSS. My friends & I love this place!!! We often come here on Friday or Saturday nights. They have great deals for drinks as well as they have very affordable game cards for the arcade games. We love to hangout at the top. The staff are always very pleasant and quick. Keaton & Alicia are always so wonderful. They are easy going and very nice to all. We will definitely be back!

The food was pretty good. It could have been better. The place is very unique, but also could use a deep cleaning. The noise from 16ave was very loud and slightly distracting, but if you were having a boring convo, maybe the highway is a plus to keep you entertained!? This place does have character and I wouldn't avoid it in future, which is why I give it 3 stars.

The food was really good and the drink prices are very fair. Our waitress, a young blonde lady could have done a bit of a better job. Seems like she was more enthralled with throwing fruit at the bartender than serving our two tables. I'll admit it was a pretty dead evening so she was likely bored but it still would have been nice to have someone better service.

Sure we were there right when they opened but the hostess forgot our drinks, we had to ask the soup of the day 3 times, they cooked my friends meal wrong then charged her the wrong price and had issues refunding her

Good environment. Great food and free pool. Staff could be a bit more professional. Twice out of 4 times was bad serving experience. Halfway thru ordering waitress walks away and takes other tables orders and doesn't come back and then brought the wrong drink. Manager had to finish off our time with his personal service. I'll still return.

Fantastic service EVERYTIME. The owner is wonderful and amazing competition when it comes to the basketball game, the basketball game is by far my favorite version of this arcade game and their football game is cared for much better than at the other calgary chain arcade bar! This place was fantastic. The food was great, the server was very personable, and the manager came over to greet us which is simply something you don't see anymore. The only downside is the arcade games weren't on, but that's because of the Covid protocols. I will absolutely be coming back to this place in the future.

I used to come here after tests back in the day, not much has changed and that is OK, great in fact. Is it the best food around? No. Are the drinks made with the love of a master bartender? No. If you are going into Loco Lou's should you care about any of that? No The drinks are reasonably priced, the staff is nice.

The restaurant has tons of games and the food is excellent. Love playing the basketball game and all the old school arcade games.

The quality of the food was amazing, everything hot, fresh, and tasty. Our tables waitress was extremely attentive and always had a refill. Patio is huge and open, Great for a hot summers day and some cold drinks. Reasonably affordable too, would definitely recommend.

This is a great place to hang out with friends and unwind after a long week. Good selection of games and food but service was really slow (a lot slower than average I would say), but maybe it was because they were busy. The servers were really nice to us though!

Service can be off sometimes when its crowded. Beautiful patio during the summer. Food is okay. Spicy wings are the best on Wednesdays!! They have different specials every night of the week. Parking is small and tight, you cant always find a parking.

Service is extremely slow. Server with black hair is ridiculously rude and thinks she's the management. Super unprofessional. Get better staff and a better cook so it doesn't take 2 hours to get a pizza.

Friendly staff, good food and lots of different places in the bar you can hang out. Parking is a little limited but there is a lot next door. Only complaint is my appetizer fries came a little soggy.

Nice new deck! Very spacious. Cheap yummy wings to.

I loved my experience at this place! The food is amazing, great patio, arcade, friendly staff! In my opinion one of the best burgers to get in Calgary!! Awesome atmosphere, will definitely be back!

Closest pub to my work. Great service and nice views! My server Jasmine is very nice and helped me to choose items for my order. Order arrived quickly so I can go back to work. Food is delicious!

Food/Drinks are very meh for the time it takes to get to your table. Service is incredibly slow and servers are lacking personality. The interior design is unique. 3 stars is a generous review.

Cool place! Wings were delicious and the Beer was cold. Was recently renovated and now it's a big games room so we were not bored. Service was very pleasant. What a fun night! We will return.

Super awesome environment!! We went for the game on Sunday (a group of 10) drinks and food were good and didn't take to long to get our orders with how busy it was. Overall impressed.

The games are fun, and I would give it more if I could. However the food was really bad. We ordered wings, fries, and ribs all which came out suspiciously fast (barely over 5mins).

Steak sandwich was a bit small on the steak, but the service was amazing and the place looks crazy cool.

Went here on sat for the $13 - “All burgers” special. The burgers were awesome especially for $13! You can’t go wrong with The dirty burger - pulled pork + two patties

Enjoyed wing Wednesday. It's fun, young vibes with most costumers being the nearby SAIT students. Definitely would go back for other wing flavors.

Cool place to grab drinks. Arcade games up top. Very nice outdoor patio area, right across the street to SAIT.

Great service and amazing food, very accommodating for special orders and large groups.

Never been but 32 before it was Loco lous my parents met here so thank to this bar
