(Note update at bottom of this review that the official Moen site charges 55.60 for the part. Also note that in reply to Lone Star's reply, I was never told which part to buy and not told it was an option until after the work was done and I got the bill. Now I know it's the customer's responsibility to ask EVERYTHING including "what part is it exactly? Can I buy it myself? When do you start to charge for service / labor? Does it start at time of first phone call and does it include the entire time your driver takes to drive to pick up a part (that you supposedly have already)? And so many other questions that sadly the customer now has to ask every single such company). Lone Star Plumbing employees were nice and timely, however after viewing and paying for my bill, I realized I could have purchased the exact same part (Moen 159560) from Amazon Prime Canada for 24.98 including shipping. I was charged 59.00 for the part. The technician (Grant) phoned me at 8:33 AM saying he would be at my house in about 25 minutes. Arrived at 9:33 AM and job was done at 10:09 AM. I asked why I was charged for 1.5 hours when Grant was at my house for 36 minutes and their office in Calgary told me it was because they charge for the entire service/labor time including driving to purchase the part first! Meaning I could have saved even more money by just purchasing the part myself AND preventing them from having to "drive to buy the part" (hmm). They also charged me a 75.00 "trip charge" which they told me after that it's for things like the van and insurance. So total cost just to replace my kitchen faucet hose was 329.70 !, comprised of 1.5 hours for service/labor at 120.00/hour (so total was 180.00) , the 59.00 hose kit, and the 75.00 trip charge (and then 5% GST). I could have gotten a lot cheaper if I had asked beforehand for all upfront charges (should also mention I wasn't told what they were beforehand), or if they had informed me before that I could have saved a lot of money by acquiring the exact part myself. Technician and person on the phone (Janice?) were nice and timely, but ultimately, I know I was taken advantage of. I have copy of my bill if anyone wants to see it, as proof that I used their service and for how much I was charged for it all. I am a certified Google reviewer, always wanting positive experiences so that I can help highlight businesses in a positive way. UPDATE: The company did email me the official Moen site for the part which charges $55.60 CAD for this part. They mention it's too bad that big corporate places like Amazon can charge much less (24.98 as of today). Still, if I was told the exact part and how much it would be charged for, I would have told Lone Star Plumbing that I will get the exact same part myself to save money and to save the time it took for the technician to drive to get the part.

Just had the best experience using Lone Star Plumbing!! I called last week after a neighbour highly recommended them when I had told her I was having issues finding someone to help and stressing out due to hosting an event of over 30 people at our place the next weekend and our toilet not always flushing. They booked us in a few days later with Grant showing up first thing in the morning (even a bit early! :))to see about making some adjustments to fix it. In the end, my husband and I decided we'd like to replace it with a toilet we'd have more confidence in and under Grant's instruction, I immediately got on the phone and with Jasmine's help I finally chose the toilet we wanted! She was SO patient, kind and personable helping me with my multiple phone calls, working through my choices together and sending me information on each of them with a couple of other brands as well, along with prices that included labour and installation. A few hours later Jasmine called to let me know Grant was picking up the toilet and would be back in about an hour. YAY!! SUCH A RELIEF!! Grant was also super amazing and so very knowledgeable in what he does. He was so kind and friendly and had the old toilet out and the new toilet in place in no time and it works AWESOME! We are SO unbelievably appreciative and happy with the work Grant did and that he was able to come back the same day. You can definitely tell when talking to him and watching him work he takes pride in what he does. We are so grateful they were recommended to us! We will definitely be using them again and also recommending them to everyone!

I am so happy with Lone Star. My wife, daughter, and mother-in-law were a worry when they found that the hot water was I am so happy with Lone Star. My wife, daughter, and mother-in-law were worried when they found that the hot water was running low faster than ever. There was a liking in one of my oldest water tanks (30 years old approx each one). The liking kept me awake for many nights thinking that I would have a water tank be a rocket. So, I googled it. Found Lone Stare's website and forwarded it to my wife. While she called them, I chatted with a guy on their website. So, my wife texted me that we had an appointment. They showed up ON TIME at my place as they promised. They explained to my wife the technicalities. They promised to send an email with different options (based on their observations of the problem). We received the email ON TIME (as they promised) with many solutions to solve the water tank problem. We decided right away (so far, I did not have a hot shower for days) to call them. So, Jason showed up the next day ON TIME again. Having Jason (a knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and well-equipped plumber) fix the problem was an outstanding experience. My family (the ladies of my house) and I are so happy with Lone Star. Thanks, Lone Star. Keep doing a great job.

Peter and his team were wonderful to work with, the best. I can’t thank Lonestar enough for the quick response on short notice to the failure of our Navien unit. I thought the Navien would make it until the planned replacement. But somehow Peter was able to move around other projects to help us. Lonestar's man on the ground found that it wasn’t only the heating unit that had failed. Tim was a good listener and heard us talking about the heat fluctuation in the water when in use. He had a suspicion, went with his gut, and replaced the failed check valve on the recirculating line. The valve he replaced had failed in the open position. Tim also found that the original floor heating installers hadn’t installed a gasket on the in-floor heating run, and that the gasket was cracked on the return run. Both joints showed signs of leaking. Thank you Ed as well. Do you know how good it is as a customer to have this kind of great service? Lonestar was the absolute best choice for us, and the IBC system (Boiler/Indirect Tank) the best choice for the house. Now I just want an IBC hat. Follow up: Our subzero fridge always had an issue making ice. With the installation of the new IBC boiler, fridge is making ice. Go figure.

I Contacted Lonestar plumbing to get a quote on a new build we are doing. As anyone would for a job of this size I got quotes from several companies not just him. After a lot of questions back and forth. I eventually just sent him a list of what we thought the job would look like. I expressed appreciation for the email and time that goes into a quote. However, other companies visited the site to do some problem solving. When this company's quote came back 25% more expensive. I replied with just that: his quote was 25% more expensive, for 50% less customer service, so (obviously) I'd hire another company instead (wouldn't you?). Peter's word for word response, see photo: "I can only assume you are some kind of horrible person and I'm glad we're not working at your project, good luck and thanks for wasting my time". A personal attack on me is unwarranted, unprofessional and irrelevant. Interesting that I see other 1 star reviews, where they even mention him using the same wording. I would not recommend them based on customer service or price. However, I cannot speak to their actual work, as we did not get that far, for obvious reasons... after this review, the nasty emails from this company continued!

Had a service call for checking a furnace that was not working well intermittently and to installing a Nest thermostat.The technician came in and switched on teh furnace - which was working OK at the time he was there. he never checked anything except the filter. he gave me advise on how my in-floor heating was done with the right material and for a couple thousand dollars Lone Start can come in and redo it all for me. he told me that he had never ever installed a Nest thermostat and spent 20 minutes reading the instructions. After which he checked the wires and since there would be a relocation of the humidity control required - he suggested to book another appointment. So after spending 1 hr. 10 min all he left me with advise to spend more money and not addressing any of my issues that i ah requested the service call for. $150.00 spent for nothing. On expressing the concern to the manager(office) - they were least bothered about it. it sounded like its a standard practice for them. the one star is because they were courteous all the time. if you want good honest service, please find another company.

I've used Lone Star's services twice now, and my only complaint is that they do not also do electrical, general contracting, and more! Getting quotes for services, installs, and supplies was painless and everyone involved was honest and very upfront about everything. Previous attempts with other 'reputable' Calgary companies was like pulling teeth. Constantly being told that my 32 year old furnace was too old to repair, no one services it, you need to buy this now. Minimum $$$ just to come by and take a look. Dan came by to start building some quotes, and took a look at the furnace at the same time. No upselling, no sales tactics, no pushing of services, they simply provided me with what I requested! Ordered parts nearly on the spot! Jason just left my house after repairing our furnace, and was extremely professional, courteous, and left the workspace cleaner than when he arrived! We have our quotes for future work as well. This all took place within roughly 10 days. I will continue to call Lone Star first for any future work!

Our hot water heater suddenly started leaking large volumes of water at 7pm. I phoned Lonestar Plumbing. I talked to Ryan, the manager and he talked us through making sure we had shut off the gas and hot water pipe to the hot water tank. We had caught it right away ( glad we were home) and cleaned up the initial water but on Ryan's advice attached a hose to the faucet at the bottom to complete draining the remaining water to the basement floor drain. He had me send pictures, quoted the full price and said one of their plumber's would be there at 9:30 after picking up the proper new tank at their supplier. Jason arrived about 9:15. He was very personable and professional while removing the old tank and installing the new one. He gave us an explanation of how the tank worked which was appreciated. Within two hours he was finished including removal of the old heater to his truck. The whole experience with Lonestar Plumbing and the people was personable professional and expedient. I would recommend them to anyone.

I bought an house 6 year ago. The house came with a garage heater that helps me a lot to working in my garage during the winter. After a long time, I was looking for a company to come here to verify if everything was ok to avoid problem in the winter. I found this BBB accredited company on the internet and I could verify good reviews. After this, I chat on its website and someone and they confirmed that could come here to do some check and some maintenance. We booked for today. Jason arrived on them, but call me before to confirm. Jason explained everything to me before, during and after as well. He is definitely a smart and polite guy and knows everything about heat as well as share a little of his knowledge. Jason did an amazing job and I am confident to continue working in my Garage in the winter with the heater that he did the maintenance. In addition, he recommended something for next to allow him to check more things in the next maintenance. Thanks Jason and Lone Star, you definitely won a new customer.

In the midst of an appliance breakdown, we had decided to change an old electric range to a gas range in the Fall of 2022. Having thought our home had all the necessary lines for a gas insert, an installer (from lowe’s) came and was not able to put together the, already purchased, gas range. And so, I went back to lowe’s seeking for any sort of advice, but all they could provide me were overpriced companies with mediocre reviews. I googled installers and came across lone star. I read their reviews and called right away. I was amazed with their customer service, and managers Ryan & Ed. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They, simply, are the best at what they do. In addition to this, as a customer, they are very upfront about their prices. We are very happy with the work they have done, and we recommend this company to our family & friends…

So i was referred by 5 star electric as i had few other companies quoting me for changing the whole water heater and they even went to disassembling it for it not to work and make pressure on me to install a new one. and quoted me between 8 to 10k for a new one. after calling Lone star, Jason came over and had a look and took his time (no not hours - but went to got all the documentation and so on to understand my specific water heater). after reassembling it and servicing it. and less than $400 later everything was working and mega happy with the service. Jason confirmed that many companies only answer is to replace everything as they make money on parts and labor but the fact to replace something when it's working just fine to screw people seems to be common. honestly happy with the service and how Jason helped me out. thanks again.

I was very happy with the work done and service provided! Grant came to fix my garburator and was able to fix it super quickly and cheaper than I expected. He also showed me a couple other things/tips while he was there (where/how to change the batteries on an automatic faucet, what to do if it stops working). Later that day, I noticed there was no power to my dishwasher. When I called to see if maybe it was related/unplugged or something, they sent someone else out, and this person (I forget his name!) ended up taking apart my dishwasher and fixing it despite thinking it likely wasn’t related to the work done previously. It was so nice of him, and the company to send someone when they did not think it was related to the work they completed. I’m very appreciative and would absolutely recommend these guys!

We have called upon Lone Star Plumbing three times now, in the last year or two, and have always experienced very prompt and very high quality repair work performed at very reasonable prices. We have found Lone Star Plumbing to be a very well-run, family business that genuinely seems to care about customer service. This is obvious by the friendly and very professional way that they treat their clients. We want to thank Ryan for working hard to fit us into a very busy schedule after the very cold (pipe bursting) weather as Calgary rung in 2018. Ryan fixed our burst pipe perfectly and I was very pleased with the resulting solution that should help prevent a similar problem in the future. I came home after work the other day to find wet carpet in my basement. I was pretty worried about the cost as I've used different well-known plumbing companies in the city in the past and have always had ridiculously expensive bills. Luckily the company that services my furnace had just been out and had recommended Lone Star. Peter was awesome, he managed to set up an appointment for me the day after I called, first thing in the morning. The plumber who came (Ryan) was so polite, kind and quick! He found the leak and resolved it in less than an hour, and even with the cost of parts my bill was well under $200. I would highly recommend this company and will definitely be calling them for all my plumbing needs in the future!!

I have had Lone Star do two different jobs for me. First in 2017 they did full renovation plumbing on two floors of our house. They were wonderful to deal with, did absolutely top notch work and were done on time and on budget. Even when the city inspector came he said that he doesn’t really need to check their work, they always do a top notch job. The second job was just this past week. They came to clean up some plumbing in the furnace room that a previous plumber had done and also add another hose bib to the rear of the house. Once again doing a fantastic job, very clean finish work and cleaned up everything when they were done. Nothing but wonderful things to say about Lone Star plumbing!!!

Nice to know there are still Honest Credible people in the world. Mentioned installing a clear plastic cover over my ground water sump and most plumbers either came up with an outrageous cost to accomplish what I wanted or simply refused to help because as they said "It's not normally what we do"". Spoke with Lone Star and they immediately understood what I needed and where able to help for their normal labour charge rate. Not to put to much of a fine point on it but Lone Star completed the work for about $300, while some of the so called "Sump Companies" wanted as much as $5900 for something completely unrequired, not to mention jackhammering out and replacing concrete.

Jason was a rock star. He was more than polite, very knowledgeable and helped me understand the problem I was having with in floor heating that worked, but wasn't heating my condo appropriately. I had used another company last spring to replace a mixed valve. Unfortunately that plumber managed to forget to turn two valves back on and set the temperature of the mix valve system way too low, so the system wasn't able to heat my home appropriately. Lone Star now has ALL my plumbing and heating needs in the future. Jasmine was lovely in my first phone call. The appointment was made and Jason was able to come EARLY from the time quoted. Rates were reasonable.

Lone Star was a bit slow in responding to my online appointment request but moved very quickly once engaged. Choi arrived at my residence within a few hours and rerouted a sump pump drain line for my renovation. He made a fairly difficult job, that involved drilling a hole through my stucco wall (with very little clearance), look quite easy. Unfortunately he was stung by a small nest of wasps that were disturbed in the process but worked through the situation with professionalism and cleaned up the work area before departing. I would certainly recommend Lone Star based on this experience.

I had the pleasure to engage the truly professional services from Matt and alone Star Plumbing. I recently renovated 2 bathrooms with new ceramic tile flooring. In both bathrooms Matt reinstalled the toilets and replaced feeder lines, etc. in this picture you can see he installed a raised toilet base flange and put silicone to further prevent any moisture getting out. Matt kept a tidy workspace, removed all trash and uses a large thick blanket to prevent any soiling, etc. their prices were very reasonable also. Awesome firm I was referred to them by my son.

I called them early in the morning to unblock my kitchen drain, and while they seemed to be busy they were able to fit me in at the end of the day. I called Lone Star because I had a couple of loops in my in floor heat that weren’t working, and I needed a boiler service. Ryan was very helpful on the phone, assisting me to diagnose the problems and then sent out Jason who surpassed my expectations. He was able to diagnose and fix the issues, service the boiler, and explain everything as he went along. I had a lot of questions and he answered all of them with confidence. I am blown away at the lack of customer service given. Talking to Peter via phone about a bill, he tells me the conversation being had was "dumb" and a "waste of his time" and "useless". The technician was not obviously educated on the companies policies telling us the client one thing then once receiving the bill an whole entirely different cost. I would not recommend this company ever as we were quite surprised that as the client we are paying for an internal miscommunication, and how the phone conversation with Peter went.

Contacted Lone Star Plumbing for a couple of minor issues with toilet installation and furnace leaking uncovered during house inspection. It was very easy to schedule an appointment and the technician went through the inspection report beforehand. Did the plumbing for a major main floor reno. Of all the trades in and out they cared the most about the workmanship and functionality of our final product. On their own they noticed a scratch in the tub from the factory as they were unpacking it and immediately returned it and picked up a new one to install. Couldn't be happier with the final products. Would recommend them and we will have them back when we do our basement renovation.

Called on Thursday to get a price quote for a hot water tank replacement and got a quote right away. Called on Friday to accept the quote; appointment booked for Tuesday at 09:00 for the install. On Tuesday, the technician arrived 0.5 hours EARLY. Work was done quickly and efficiently including a new shut-off valve to the tank. In and out in under 3 hours. Everything was left clean and tidy. Highly recommended.

Lone Star Plumbing did a complete replacement of Poly B plumbing pipes with Pex plumbing pipes for my whole house. The guys who did the job was professional and knew exactly how to do this. They made minimum cuts in the drywall and in some places it was magic to see how they where able to put in the new pipes without cutting the drywall. They were tidy and no mess at all. Can absolute recommend this company.

Please keep in mind that these guys are not upfront with you and have HIDDEN FEEs that they charge, in addition to parts and labour. They also claim that they don't have parts for simple jobs like a garburator fitting, and charge you for time they supposedly spent getting those parts. I'm sorry, but a professional plumber should have basic piping on hand and should need to charge time for going to get it.
