"Everything about MOD Bikes was awesome"
Glen was a nice guy - a natural salesperson smooth and calm to deal with. We bought a Mod City+ folding bike. The bike itself is a little pricey- but what it offers is a superior machine. The finish on the bike with its quality handlebars and truly outstanding seat, (I love how it has both a suspension seat post AND springs in the seat along with gel cushion- its the best seat EVER!) Combined with the front suspension and 3" tires, hydraulic disc brakes, deep first gear that absolutely goes up the steepest hills integrated head light and tail/brake light PLUS the ability to even carry a passenger and do 28mph this is a great bike on or off road, really capable to go anywhere. I'd challenge anyone to find all these features somewhere else! That said the cell phone mount is worthless, my cell phone fell out right to the ground on my first gravel road- which is our driveway! Not even close to quality of the rest of this bike. Check out Triumphs cell phone motorcycle holder and get a real cell phone holder! Also as soon as these guys make a sale they are ALL BUSINESS nothing else. They want to explain their bike to you and you are gone, they are very blunt not at all friendly then! I felt like I was in NYC. Never saw anybody switch between day and night like that ever. Even considering those two awful things, the quality of their bike is there and I like it so I still give them 5 stars. Still it doesn't cost much to be decent and polite. Edit: After seeing my review above, Mike at the Mod team called me and was very polite and apologized to me saying he's talking to the team and will ensure the above never happens again. Also he sent 3 small but quite useful gifts to make this up to me-which it more than makes it up and I forgive him 100%. Needless to say the Mod team and the city+ folding bicycle is very highly recommended! Edit: I very much still love our MOD bike- I but as I have modded everything inside and outside our home- I have more mods for the mod city+ bike. When the bike is folded the button bolt holding the rear luggage rack rubs up against the fork stanchion. This rubbing caused scratches on my fork- as I know from motorcycles if you get these scratches you must immediately use 1000 sandpaper and get rid of those scratches and if you don't you will tear up your fork seals and result is the fork oil leaks and must be rebuilt. I changed the offending bolts with rounded headed bolts-see pic- and added lizard skins to the forks to protect them- see pic. Meanwhile if the factory sees fit to add fork boots ie my Triumph Bonneville-and change the bolts- this issue wouldn't happen. Mike told me he'd even send me another, and he said better, cell phone holder. I JUST RECEIVED IN THE MAIL FROM MOD BIKES A GREATLY IMPROVED CELL PHONE HOLDER! WOW! I have to admit I was surprised after all they already did. BUT MOST OF ALL THIS IS A HIGH QUALITY HOLDER! They should change their holder to this one permanently! Many accolades to this company they get my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONEVER! If they would add rubber boots to their fork stanchions and change those bolt heads- even so it's easy for the owner to fix and THIS BIKE IS BEST IN CLASS!! MANY KUDOS TO THIS TEAM!!
I purchased a Berlin model bicycle and have put ~140 miles on it in the first month. The bike is advertised as Euro-chic, and it is a looker, but I think it'd be better advertised as Urban-Utility. Berlin Performance: -The bike easily handles ~40 miles per charge. This is with my 230 lbs as a rider and max assist up and down the steep hills of just south of lady bird lake. -Charging takes about 5 hours, never really timed it. I just charge at the end of each day. So far battery life is not an issue at all. -I can easily accelerate to and maintain ~20 mph with full assist and a heavy backpack. -One of the biggest advantages of electric bikes that I had not realized is my confidence in or around traffic from a stop. Typically on a traditional bike I can approach 20mph cruising speed given a flat road and some distance. With the E-bike I reach 20mph about as fast as a motor vehicle. This makes getting moving from a stop light or on a hill far less intimidating. -I also carry my daughter to school with the bike. She is about 45 lbs and 7 years old and sits on a seat mounted to the rear pannier bracket. She will now ask for me to take her for a ride around the hike and bike trail. I've carried her for up to 15 mile rides around town lake without even breaking a sweat (casual cruising at ~12 mph in the winter). The ModBikes Shop: Great guys with excellent service. -Within the first 5 miles I broke a chain, remember to shift one gear at a time. This was a Saturday morning, I put the bike in the car and stopped by the shop to get some help. They immediately threw the bike onto the lift and fixed the issue and explained how to avoid the issue in the future. -I've stopped in to ask questions several times since then and even had a fresh coffee with the guys. Very friendly and inviting.
I waited about a month after buying my bike to leave a review, and during that time my experience has only continued to be nothing short of awesome! I moved to Austin not too long ago, and this is the perfect way to get out and see the city! The bikes themselves not only look amazing, they also ride extremely well. I have the MOD Light model, and it easily fits in my apartment as well as the trunk of my car. I can take it out for an entire day without needing to charge it, and I can't stress enough how much fun it is to cruise around looking for events and new places to eat. Be prepared for compliments and questions about where you purchased this bike! If i'm giving the bike 5 stars, then the bike shop itself as well as the staff and owners deserve 6 stars at the very least. They are extremely passionate about their craft, and some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They'll happily sit down and chat with you about biking, e-bikes, or things to do around Austin. As if that wasn't enough, they also host events at the shop in collaboration with other small businesses in the area! The shop comes with a fully equipped garage designed to service your e-bike, though since I've just gotten mine I haven't needed to use it yet (a testament to how well built the bike is). They also recently started offering e-bike rentals, which as it turns out is also a great way for any visitors or guests to hit the road with you and explore the city! I don't think there are any additional accolades I can mention that haven't already been covered here or in other reviews, but suffice it to say that MOD Bikes offers top of the line bicycles paired with top of the line people and service. I'm looking forward to my next visit, and eventually my next bike!
I have visited MOD Bikes in Austin on three occasions: 1) To preorder a bike, 2) To pick the bike up (on the date promised), and 3) to have a flat tire repaired. Each encounter was welcoming and professional. Mike has an efficient operation, he knows his customers, what their needs are, and his business model is environmentally friendly (from the products they sell to the paperless receipts {optional}). I was in a bind November 24, 2020, and needed to get a bike repaired for security operations. After juxtaposing their workload and my needs, Mike and his Team made the necessary repairs to my bike within an hour. As an entrepreneur, I appreciated their efficiency, and the exceptional customer service that has been consistently extended. April 16, 2022. Exceptional customer service. The employees are awesome and customer oriented. I really enjoy doing business with an entity that goes out of the way to ensure that customers are satisfied with the services they provided. October 10, 2023. There is value in purchasing locally and having a business partner you can rely on in when you need support and answers immediately, and not weeks later. I have purchased two bikes from MOD Bike in Austin. As a security practitioner, my security officer ride hard and they ride constantly daily. We from time to time have issues that need to be resolved. The Team at MOD Bike understand this and have always made sure that my security officers remained mobile. Shop local, you will not regret it.
Everything about MOD Bikes was awesome. I became a customer in August 2023. They have a secure location, open on the weekends with a big parking lot area where it's safe to test the bike. The sales person was busy when we were there, no problem. Marcos the service guy helped us with everything we needed while answering all of our questions and explaining everything we needed to know with ease. I am a really short mom, and I have some challenges when it comes to finding the right bike size. Marcos showed me the product and Mod Bikes is such a full service location for their product, they even offered ways to customize the bike to fit my needs. The bike itself is a really amazing machine. It came with store, frame, and mechanical warranties, which is a nice peace of mind for the money you spend. The bike is amazing for exercise and, the pedal assist is perfect for me in the hilly neighborhood where I live - as I am no cycling expert. The handle bar set up was unfamiliar to me, since I am used to hunching over to ride a bike ever since I was a kid. The handle bar orientation on the MOD Bike allows for the rider to sit up straighter. Along with an extremely comfortable seat, this bike makes for a really comfortable ride. I recommend this location and this product to anyone interested in an electric peddle assist and throttle bike.
Awesome company! I recently purchased myself the 2020 Berlin. I am an avid cyclist, but this will be my first-ever e-bike, and I am so excited for it to finally arrive. With e-bikes being such a high price item (especially for me, a college student), I did extensive research for several days to figure out which was best for me, and within my budget. I was pleasantly reminded about Mod Bikes after going past their store on S.1st time and time again, and decided to check them out. Prior to this, I figured it was only an e-bike rental company for tourists. Instantly, I was keen on getting the Berlin, as the frame is much like the manual bike I currently own. I eventually decided it was worth checking out, especially with their 18-month warranty and free tune-ups for local customers like myself. There, I met Dor (spelling?) -- he was super helpful and even managed to get me a few accessory add-ons at a great discount, as I had just missed their pre-sale promotion for the Berlin bike. A super responsive team (are u guys hiring by the way), I just can't wait to finally try out my own Mod Bike! Thanks y'all <3
I have done a lot of research into eBikes over the past few months. When I saw Mod Bikes pop up on the map, I just wanted to see what was up, take one of their bikes for a test ride and see how much it was going to cost me. From what I gathered before hand these are custom setups, so I figured it was going to be an arm and a leg. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how reasonable the prices were. They even help fill out the Austin Energy forms for the rebate before you walk out the door after purchasing (only available if you purchase locally). One of the reasons to buy local is the ability to have a place to go when you need help with something (no need for waiting on hold for customer service or deal with shipping things to or from). And they are amazing at customer service. Always willing to help with any questions before and after you buy the bike. I can not express how much fun you will have on one of the eBikes. Bottom line: if you are exploring eBikes, this is a great place to check out. You won’t be disappointed
I got the City+ as a gift for Christmas, and man I am in love. I had gone to the shop a few weeks before to check it out, and after getting the bike I have gone back a few more times and these guys are some of the nicest people I have met. You can really tell Mike and Dor have passion for what they are doing and the quality of the bikes speaks for itself. About the bike: I am a pretty big guy (240+) and this bike rides with ease. My biggest fear was my weight and once I realized it was not an issue, the rest was a blast. I have commuted to work a few times already (4 mile ride) and it has been great. On the way back home, the LED light in front and the brake light in the back keep me at ease while riding at night. I have ridden 20 miles now and the battery only lost 2 of its 5 bars. I could ramble on and on about how awesome Mike and Dor are, how the bikes are awesome, but you should check out the store for yourself. PS. I am most likely going to get another one of these bikes so my future wife and I can ride together!
I bought my MOD City+ a little over a month ago and absolutely love it. And while I looked around on-line at comparable bikes which in some cases were less expensive, I have to say that their service tipped the scales. My wife and I met the MOD Bikes guys at a pop up event near our apartment complex and they couldn't have been more friendly. They offered both my wife and I full day rentals which we took them up on a couple of weeks later. Once I decided to make the purchase, I liked that everything was done online / email - made the process quick and I have everything in email. I just had my bike in for the free 1 month service and again, they couldn't be more friendly. They tightened up a few loose items, replaced a tube that had a small leak (that I didn't even know about) all at no charge. They really do make you feel like you are part of a community. And the bike is great. I've put nearly 100 miles on it in the first month and have to say it feels good to zoom past all the traffic in the bike lane.
I had a fantastic experience when I went to Mod Bikes to get my first bicycle EVER! I got the Berlin Mod bike, and it's tremendous! Mike from Mod Bikes went above and beyond with everything when getting me ready for my first electric bike. Mike and his team made sure I had the right bike, wheels, locks, and helmet. Mike also made sure I knew how to use and charge my Mod bike. It was so simple after they explained it to me. There were also so many helmet selections, and I got the illuminating Lumos Matrix, which is programmed to display all sorts of blinking, digital designs. I went to pick up my bike with my dad, and Mike even gave Dad and me an electric bike-riding lesson. For me, it was more learning how to ride a bike. For Dad, it was more about learning how to use the pedal-assist on an electric bike. Dad was utterly amazed, and, guess what, we're taking it out this weekend for a ride in the park! Thank you, Mod Bikes! My dad and I love it!
Amazing experience with Tim, Niels, and Mike here at Mod! Took a hot minute for my Mod City+ to arrive, but it was absolutely worth the wait. Plus, Niels and Mike were super communicative and responsive with my concerns over the shipping delays, and the new design was so much cooler than the model that I test-rode when I decided to purchase. This bike has given me so much control over the roadways– it accelerates so much quicker than a car and helps you quickly avoid traffic. The front lights are BRIGHT so there’s no worry when riding at night. Tim helped me get my bike ready at pick-up and gave me an efficient recap of everything I need to know, including tips for bike and battery longevity. I also really appreciate how much these guys care about the safety of the riders! It’s been over a month with my bike, and it’s still riding like new despite the variety of terrains I took it through!
After living car free for decades I was having fun being a crazy senior who loved to ride my midracer recumbent bike like I was in a race whenever I had to go somewhere. But after narrowly escaping serious injury or death when I was hit by a car last year, I no longer felt safe sitting so low. I have always preferred mountain bikes but the slow speed made them less then ideal to replace a car with. My wife had an ebike with a cadence sensor. That felt more like a moped than a bicycle. I wanted the more upright riding position of a mountain bike, while being able to go as fast as I can on my fully reclined recumbent. The Black, with it's torque sensor is exactly what I was looking for. The full suspension, precision handing, and torque sensor controlled motor has made living without a car fun. With this product I look forward to continue living car free for years to come.
With family in town we decided to try out electric bikes to see Austin from a different viewpoint. I'm so glad we chose Mod Bikes, the shop was clean and cannot say enough good things about Mike, the owner and the gentleman who helped us out. The check-in process was quick and we all had our bikes within 10 minutes, he gave us a quick rundown on how to operate them and two of our party zoomed off. However, my niece, who had never been on an electric bike, was anxious and Mike spent extra time making sure she felt comfortable and did not start our hour time until she was ready. Mod Bike is located on south 1st with plenty of interesting neighborhoods, shops/coffee shops, and vintage clothing shops to ride to close by. Masks were worn and there was hand sanitizer available, we had a blast and we 100% recommend Mod Bikes! Thank you, Mike!
MOD Bikes is a truly awesome electric bike shop. Everyone who works there is super helpful, and very knowledgeable, making it easy to choose a bike or even just inquire. The bikes themselves are really great. I purchased a Berlin back in February, and I've been riding it every single day, to and from work, to the grocery stores. The rack holds most crates that can fit up to two big brown grocery bags, but I'm sure with panniers, it could carry a bit more. But when you're just riding, you can really bust out some speed with ease and control. The bike itself is also very sturdy, I have only had to put in the minimal amount of maintenance for a bike. I definitely do not regret my purchase. I think it's improved my way of life. I only wish I could have more of these bikes.
I started riding again back in march 2020 after a year layoff. My bike started making this grinding sound, I went to three bike shops to have it look at. each shop told me the same thing it would be a three to four weeks turnaround. I did not won't to be off my bike for this period of time. I called MOD Bikes and inquired if they could look at my bike, Mike answer the phone said, he could and the turnaround would be approx. two days. I drop my bike off on Tuesday and received a call Thursday stating my bike was ready. It turnout to be a simple fix and not expensive. I didn't have the right tool to make necessary adjustment's Mike was kind enough to give me the tool I needed at no cost. The great customers service will keep me coming back. I highly recommend MOD Bikes .
They setup my bike same day, on a weekend and on a Sunday I believe. Staff is friendly (shout-out to Timothy and Mike). I chose the Mod City bike. Battery goes quick but more than sufficient for my daily commute considering upgrading to the City+. I initially requested the white version but they were out of stock. However, they offered to exchange it once they receive it. If your commute is mostly bike Lanes, roads and sidewalks - ModCity is the bike for you. If you're looking to ride trails, you'll want to consider another one of their models. These are excellent bikes, great quality, local, and their team is fantastic. I've recommended this bike to all my friends and Co workers already. Save your money from gas prices and maintenance and pick up a mod bike.
I'm so happy there's a passionate, thoughtful, and responsive e-bike maker right in Austin! I was referred here by my brother-in-law, who had great experiences last year with his Berlin commuter bike at their first location. The new location on St Elmo is even better - it's bigger, and they have a nice neighborhood behind it to take a test drive! I tested the Black twice before I bought it, and they answered every question I had. After purchasing my Black, they had it ready with all the accessories (phone holder, horn, mounted lock) mounted within 2 days! I appreciated that they took the time to explain everything about the bike, since this is my first e-bike. I'm looking forward to many years enjoying my MOD Black and being a part of the MOD family!
First of all, Mike is perfect person to work in sales. Quick to respond to emails. Knowledgeable and friendly. Secondly, I have owned 6 different brands of e bikes. This is obviously the most expensive. But there is a reason why. The quality and design is above and beyond anything else on the market. I have also owned almost every popular brand of electric scooter on the market. The fit and finish and functionality of the electric components and switches on the Mod brand bikes is superior to all. Everything including the charger is unlike anything else you will get with another brand. Don’t follow my mistakes. Buy the Mod bike now instead of waiting and wasting your money on other brands. Call Mike and he will get you squared away.
With so many trails around and bridges and bike lanes, seeing Austin via bike is awesome. The "Easy" model was great for simple cruising through the open trails/paths and bike lanes throughout the city. Flicking the throttle to easily tackle hills or bridge ramps made it easy to go all day and still have energy to hit the town at night. The "Black" model was sportier with a full suspension and seemingly more peppy motor but only had pedal-assist. The pedal assist seemed more natural on Black than Easy. If you ever consider owning a MOD Bikes model, they'll credit you the rental fee (as of MAR-2021). Try before you buy or use as a learning activity to see what type, model, or features seem important to you before buying.
I have reviewed numerous electric bike manufactures and found that MOD BIKES exceeded my needs and the specs are much better, overall, than all the other Electric Bikes. I spoke to “Mike”, who was very informative, thorough, and friendly. He went through his parts sourcing, assembly (in Texas), specs, suggested options, free shipping and even delayed shipping if I would like it. Mike followed up on the weekend, to see if I had any other questions. That extra effort convinced me this was the “right” Company to do business with! I ordered the MOD EASY, with delayed shipping. I’m very satisfied with everything Mike, who if he isn’t the Owner, should be, has done. He is makes you feel like you have joined his Family!
My girlfriend and I came into town for the weekend and I wanted to rent some bikes and ride around to really experience the city. After being recommended to Mod Bikes for not only the quality of the bikes but the customer service we went to check them out. I can’t say enough about how great our experience was from start to finish! The customer service was outstanding! Mike and Dor took really great care of us, set us up and sent us on our way with awesome recommendations and routes of places to check out in the city. The quality of the bikes are next level compared to any electric bike I’ve ridden in the past. Will definitely be a returning customer anytime I come back. Amazing experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I purchased a MOD Berlin around a month ago for commuting around 8 miles round trip daily and getting from one place to another (I don't own a car) and I have absolutely no regrets. This is a gorgeous bike, so quality, and so fun to ride. So far, I put around 160 miles on it and there's been no problems. Any extremely minor issues that have occurred, the guys have gone out of their way to fix that very same day with no cost. The shop itself is beautiful, I'm constantly getting compliments, and have seen many other happy Austinites on MOD bikes around town. I have absolutely nothing negative to say, only glowing positives, and if you're thinking about going car free, this is an amazing option to have.
Mike and Dor are very helpful and patient helping you find the bike you need. Their customer service is second to none and it goes from the moment you step in through anything you may need after your purchase. I purchased my bike (MOD City) a month ago to use basically as a car for me and it has been extremely reliable the entire time. No fear of the battery ever dying - the range is phenomenal, comfortable rides, and the bike looks very sleek. I would absolutely recommend a bike from MOD BIKES whether you're looking for some help getting back in shape or you're looking at commuting - their bikes can do it all. Thank you both for continuously helping me, see you next month!
The MOD Squad did me right! Just moved from Oaxaca, Mexico to Austin and bought a second hand Berlin with a couple thousand mile I knew needed some tendering loving care to make 100% capable. Together we discussed my needs and any mechanical opportunities / repairs then brought her back to fundamentally good-as-new-PLUS. With the addition of some accessories like The Mirrycle, Lumos helmet, panniers, ergonomic grips, and a comprehensive tune up, I have confidence my electric mobility solution is safe, dependable, and ready to go > go > go. Not many services or transactions feel that damn cool. There is something special about great bike shops and this is one of them!
The only thing I regret about buying a bike at this shop is that I didn't do it sooner. Modbikes are amazingly designed and constructed. On my new bike, it's a breeze to go 15-20 miles around the lake and not even be tired afterward. All of the bikes here are thoughtfully constructed with great components, and there's something for everyone. Just as important, you can expect amazing service from the great people that work here, with excellent handiwork and an amazing warranty. Mike was very helpful in answering all my questions and concerns when I couldn't decide which bike was right for me. I could definitely see myself buying another bike here in the future.
These bikes are amazing! They are light weight, built sturdy and a comfortable ride. I was a bit nervous testing one at first but they are so well made and pleasant to be on. No need to pedal and off you go! If you do pedal, pedal assist is the most magical thing ever! One rotation and you zoom away. Best part of these bikes are the well designed kids seats that you can attach. My family loves outdoor activities, but riding with 2 kids isn't always easy on a standard bike, but with the MOD bike it's super convenient. The smile on my kids faces said it all! They love these bikes as much as I do! It also helps that the staff is super friendly and helpful!
Mod Bikes is a fantastic E Bike shop in Austin Texas right in the heart of south Austin. They have an amazing selection of bikes that they manufacture! Not only that but they are happy to service any make and model of e bike. I had a blow out and wasn't sure what else happened when I wrecked my bike. They were amazing! Had my bike ready to go in a day!!! You have to go check out there shop and meet a wonderful, friendly staff. I'm heading back to buy a cool helmet and look at getting another e bike for trail riding. I found my new favorite ebike store! They can even mod your existing bike. Super cool showroom and super nice staff. Highly recommend!
My wife and I just completed a 6 day tour through the hill country on our rented ebikes from Mike and Dor. We bike regularly for commuting but have never done more then a day trip. We flew in from subzero Minnesota and were outfitted with everything we needed--bikes, chargers, panniers, helmets, locks-- then off to Johnson City, Fredericksburg, Blanco, Wimberley, then back to Austin. We had a great time and I think I have convinced my wife that she "needs" an ebike (I already have one). We felt very supported both in planning the trip and during the trip (they even checked in on us the first night to make sure our first day went smoothly). Thanks!
Couldn't be happier. I'm riding this bike way more than my last bike and much further for different reasons. Today did errands on my bike without breaking too much of a sweat. But when I want to working I love that I can turn the motor's help down a little. I'm enjoying my morning commute and not dreading my hills on the way home after a long day. If you see yourself running errands I would spring for the essentials kit which comes with a great lock and a great bag that expands with panniers. The team was really patient and helpful as I was deciding on the bike and may the purchase super easy and quick. So glad I made this decision to get this.
I purchased the Easy model from MOD bikes in June 2020. The customer service experience has been amazing. Mike and the team have been awesome at walking me through any questions I had with the bike. I've contacted them via Chat on their website and also called the shop, and they've always been super quick to respond. They stand behind their bikes and their passion shows! As for the bike...I cant say enough postive things about it. The MOD Easy model is a pure head turner. All of the components are top notch and the bike is very well made. It's been a game changer for me! If you are in the market for an Ebike, I highly recommend MOD Bikes!
We've owned a pair of MOD Bikes (Berlins) for two years now. We LOVE these bikes. They are sturdy, well built, and they ride extremely well with or without electric assist. We've taken them in for tuning and the MOD team are super helpful, attentive, and definitely want to do right for their customers. I will add that I wasn't sure about riding in the summers here in Austin due to the heat. But with these bikes, riding even in the heat is awesome because of the breeze generated, and the ease of hills with the electric assist makes going out really fun. Mike, Marcos and team are great to deal with.
I spent a lot of time looking at companies before I purchased my city plus from Mod Bikes. I love that they are local! The bike is great but their service is even better! I recently had a free tuneup and then this past weekend I wiped out on an off road trail and got a flat. Took it in yesterday and it is ready to go today! They gave it another full tuneup for free to make sure I didn’t damage the bike. Tuneups are always free when you buy their bikes. Great fast and efficient service and their bikes are top of the line. Check them out online or go see them in person if you live in Austin TX.
I did a ton of research on ebikes before deciding on the Berlin. I loved the style of the bike, but I really bought from Mod because of the people who build the bikes and run the shop. I could tell they took a lot of pride in their work and they made the whole process super easy - helped with the rebates, helped with picking out a kid seat and installing it, set me up with scheduled tune ups, followed up and checked in, just top notch customer service all around. The bike has been awesome. I've had it a couple of months now, commute about 30 minutes each way on it, and love it.
This is a great place to purchase a high-end bike. The overall quality and workmanship of Mod Bikes were very good. And it was a pleasure working with Mike and his sales team. Shortly after buying my bike I ran over a nail and got a flat tire. So I brought the bike back in and they fixed it for free. You can't beat that kind of customer service. With bikes, you get what you pay for. So don't buy a cheap bike online like I almost did. Do your homework and shop around to compare other brands as I did. At Mod's you will get an outstanding product at a very good price.
Bought an electric bike for two reasons - 1) commuting to and from work and to run errands & 2) to enjoy bike rides w/ my 3 year old. As he gets heavier, my conventional bike was just too much w/ the hills of Austin. The bike has been one of the best purchases I've ever made. I feel better about not putting one more car on the road for short trips AND I enjoy my bike rides w/ my son even more. The ownership and staff at Mod are fantastic. They were not pressuring and have been super responsive to any questions I've had. Best of all, Austin gave me a rebate of $300!
The people there were friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. We rented two bikes to ride around the city with. The bikes were easy to use and a blast to ride. After stopping for a bite to eat one of the batteries on one of the bikes quit working. A short phone call and a couple minutes later the owner himself came to replace the battery with apologies and a recommendation for a great little ice cream spot. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for an extremely fun and relaxing way to tour the ciry! And there pooch is super cute and friendly too!
The boys at Mod Bikes are the best! The Austin community could not ask for a better set of ambassadors than them. I was just visiting Austin and dropped in to learn about the bikes, we hung out at the shop all afternoon, they made us cups of tea and sent us off around town to explore and check out the bikes. Needless to say, we were in love both with the bikes, but also the brand and the community they’re building. We wish them the best of luck, we know they’re going to be incredibly successful. Ps. Buying a Mod ebike was the best decision I’ve made in ages!!!
I've had my Berlin for almost two years. I could not be more satisfied with it. It's a very high quality bike that's fun to ride. I don't drive, I now ride, for trips to the grocery store or the post office. (But mostly I ride for the joy of it.) But the quality of their bikes is only half of the story. These folks stand behind their products. Their customer service is among the very best I have ever experienced. Mod bikes: High build quality, great performance, outstanding customer service, and a ton of fun to ride. Would I buy one again? Without hesitation.
I have nothing but good to say about Mod Bikes. The customer service has been amazing and they have gone above and beyond to help us. My daughter received her bike for Christmas (even though shipping was backed up, they figured out a solution so Santa could deliver on time). The bike is fabulous and we all had fun trying it out. I think I may put one on my list next year. It's a great bike and the quality is outstanding. I feel very comfortable with my daughter riding this to school and she is loving the independence as she is not old enough to drive yet.
Visited the store 2 if not 3 times before we purchased the Easy. Personal attention and customer service were exceptional throughout the experience. Mike actually delivered the bike to my house at the end of the day after they had completed assembly. They have followed up to ensure things have gone well. Love the bike, lots of fun, and get lots comments on the style (positive ones). My spouse already owned an electric bike by or from another company and I decided the local specific shop Modbike was the competitive difference, I have not been disappointed.
These people are great! I'm a disabled veteran and was struggling to be able to afford one of their bikes. They worked with me to get me on a bike. I was a bit nervous that I might have problems keeping my balance but the city is a very stable bike and I believe I will put many miles on it. It's quite nice. I would highly encourage anyone interested in an electric bike to go down and see these folks. They will treat you right and the bikes are awesome! I already know the next one I will get when I have the money saved. No doubt top notch.
We had heard about Mod Bikes on social media and were traveling in our RV with along stop in Austin. We decided to stop by and take a look. We very impressed with the quality. Mike was super helpful and very proud of his product. The store is great and they even have a store dog that is super sweet. Here is the amazing thing. My wife ,(a CPA) never makes large purchases without sleeping on her decision. Well not this time. We bought a bike, I already had one and wished I had waited, two helmets, and even a bike rack. Thank you Mod Bikes
MOD E-Bikes, Mike & staff are the BEST!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had been researching & testing different e-bikes; asking questions of different e-bikes owners, all spring/summer. ✨Mike & the MOD staff were all knowledgeable & responsive to my questions. They worked with me to craft a package that worked for me. It was DONE! I was scared when I rode out of the showroom, home. I was quickly confident...in the 104 degree Texas heat! I made it home & rode 17 miles to my Dad's house the next day!!! AMAZING!!! I'm a believer!! Go MOD Squad!! Kt
The experience of purchasing an electric bike from Mike at MOD bikes has been a pleasure from start to finish. He walked me through my options, had me try out the bike in the parking lot and answered all my questions. The bike itself is incredibly fun and has changed how I use the city. Within a couple of hours I was on town lake enjoying the sunset before heading back home effortlessly up a hill. I have now been using it for the last month and would never do without it. Excellent product and excellent service.
Now that I've had my bike for a few months, I wanted to share my experience with MOD. From the start, they were so easy to work with and very upfront about everything. Just a month after purchasing, had a small issue that was technically not a part of warranty, but MOD went above and beyond by offering to fix it at no cost. Marcos is fantastic at what he does and really made me feel confident I made the right decision to purchase with them. Highly recommend the City+, especially if you're an ATX local.
The salesman was very patient and answered all our questions. He demonstrated how the bike we were interested in folds. A test ride was easy to arrange. My son took the bike a few loops around the parking lot and the up the street to test the electric acceleration. The bike comes with a lockable battery. It has a top speed of 28mph. Battery assist can controlled by a lever. Bike itself has a single front chainring and a 7 speed cassette. Integrated rear rack and place to attach a front rack/basket.
I purchased the perfect e-bike from Mod Bikes last December and I have nothing but praise for the whole staff and process. They made sure my Mod City + was set up perfect for me and that I was comfortable riding it. They also had all the info and docs for the sweet rebate from the City Of Austin ready to go at the end of the process. Turns out the customer service doesn't end there, either. Two months after my initial purchase Mike tuned my beautiful ride up for free. I <3 Mod City Bikes!
Let’s start with the bikes. They are well designed, reliable, and can keep with my really intense pace, I’m commuting 20 miles each day, btw. But it’s not only about the bikes. It’s about the best customer service I ever had. They know your needs, they give you advice on how to keep your bike in a good shape. And they are always willing to help you when you have a problem. I had a small accident, and they fixed my bike really fast. I can say that this is the best shop in Austin by far...
I cannot say enough nice things about this place. Everyone there is very nice and helpful and they do terrific work. I've had my electric bike (non-Mod brand) in for repairs 4 times over the last 6 months or so, and every time the work is quick and fantastic and every time I'm reminded just how happy I am to have found this place. They've really made owning an electric bike much easier by being so close and so wonderful. Again, I cannot say enough good things. Highly, highly recommend.
Mod Bikes are awesome! Mike and the staff there are super helpful and even came out to us when we ran out the battery on the Berlin style peddle-assist bike. The bikes are clean, fast, easy to use, really stylishly looking in the whole mod fashion and the hourly rental price is super affordable. Would def recommend to anyone visiting Austin or locals looking for a fun date. Lots of fun! Also, Nala, the owner and shops dog is beautiful and super sweet. Loved all the pets and kisses!
I had a fantastic experience with Mike and Dor and Mod Bikes. I have an 8 year old e-bike from a different shop (out of state) that I wanted to upgrade. They not only took on the project and did an excellent job--which required significant perseverance. My bike now runs better than ever. Dor is an old school craftsman who lives and breathes e-bikes, and it shows. I test rode a few of their bikes, and they are excellent machines. There's not a better shop in Austin. I will be back.
I’m sincerely excited to finally own an e-bike. I have had a wonderful time with my new City Plus Mod bike. Not only does it feel hip and cutting edge but also very liberating. I have had the most fun rides with my family and even going alone for a leisure ride to the nearby Hill Country Galleria for some morning java. I was able to ride to Whole Foods in Bee Caves, TX with such ease. Thank you Mod bikes for providing a one of a kind experience that is unparallel to any other.
Mike has been great to work with! I already owned a high end e-scooter and wanted something more powerful with a longer range. Mike shipped the e-bike to Illinois and spent over an hour going over all the features of the bike to help me get it up and running. I went with the MOD easy model that goes 25mph and has a 60 mile range before needing to be charged. Huge tires that go over bumps easily. If you’re looking for a fun way to get around please call Mike!
Awesome, responsive customer service! Awesome products. They quickly return phone calls, even if you don't leave a message, they see you called and call right back. They also respond quickly to emails for sales and service. They stand behind their bikes! I keep saying that the 2020's will be known for the worst customer service ever - EXCEPT for a few, MOD is definitely in that few! Love these guys! Hershey & I love our MOD Easy with sidecar!
Love Mod Bikes! As a local, I want to support local businesses and especially folks that engineer awesome electric bikes right here in Austin, Texas. I did a ton of research and their bikes are the best and priced right. My family has bought 3 of their bikes already and we love them all to pieces. Everyone we've ever dealt with there has excellent customer service skills too. If you are in the market for an electric bike go to Mod Bikes!
It took a while to get here, but it was sure worth the wait!! I just got my MOD Easy delivered about a week ago, and I love everything about it! It's easily the most fun I've ever had riding a bike-- I feel like a kid! This bike handles hills, uneven terrain, muddy trails and puddles without issue. Doesn't hurt that it's the coolest looking bike around, too! Thank you so much for making a great quality product, it's worth every penny!
First off I love my Mod bike! I brought it up there Sunday without an appointment, knowing that I might not get it back right away. After a wonderful weekend in Austin, I got the email telling me to come pick it up before I was expecting it. Excellent service all the way around; the staff and Mike are always the best. Looking forward to going back there again soon; possibly sooner than expected just to hang out and see the great bikes
These guys are the absolute BEST!! I bought a city + about a month ago, and unfortunately, it was stolen out of my garage. I let the guys at MOD know, just to see if it showed up, but to my amazement they called to tell me that they saw someone riding my specific bike and GOT IT BACK. I can not say enough about the customer support, the family feel of the shop and the quality of the product. I highly highly recommend MOD bikes.
They don't get any better than MOD Bikes down on 1st Street here in Austin. Mike & Dor are absolutely committed to delivering top quality E-Bikes and first class personal service. We just purchased two Berlins and LOVE these bikes. The power curve, electronics, braking ability and comfort are excellent. We researched E-Bikes extensively and are very happy we chose MOD. Go give these guys a look. You will be glad you did.
The Mod-Bikes Berlin is a great bike. It checked all my boxes on the spec sheet and now that I got my hands on it, it meets all my expectations in real world application. I live in the highest point in town and it really makes my commute fun again. Everyone I dealt with at mod bikes was extremely helpful and friendly. It is nice knowing I am backed by a great company. Look forward to putting a lot of miles on this bike.
From the initial inquiry to the execution of our rentals, the experience was easy and personal. Mike took the time to answer all our questions and even provide great ideas (food/landmarks) to make our 24hr rental in Austin memorable. The bikes worked flawlessly and made us all want one! I can’t recommend the bikes and business enough. We will definitely do this again. Thank you for making this the highlight of our trip.
My daughter and I test drove their electric bikes for a little bit and loved them. I was really impressed, it's a great product! And to add to our delight, one of the owners of the company was incredibly friendly and helpful. He helped adjust the seat on my son's bike in their shop and told us a lot about the company and their products. I ended up buying a great bike lock from their store. High recs, would visit again!
I have done a lot of research on electric bikes, and I am so happy that I ended up purchasing a Mod bike. I ended up going with the Black model. I love the look of it, and the way it drives. I use it every day to commute to work. I couldn’t be happier with the service as well. The complementary tuneups have been a godsend. These are definitely the best bikes in Austin and I believe the best bikes in the country.
We just picked up two Easy models. They are amazing electric bikes. We did a ton of research and the MOD Easy gives you the best option for an electric bike commuter. Really comfortable and the first day we picked them up we went over 10 miles with no issues. The guys at MOD Bikes are knowledgeable, helpful, and awesome to do business with. Can’t wait to go back! They are local too... right here in Austin, TX!
The customer service here is second to none and I really enjoyed the entire purchasing process. Ive been whipping around my neighborhood and this bike has actually exceeded my expectations on how powerful it would be. It easily conquers the hills I needed it to without me breaking a sweat. I got the Mod City + and finding out there is a potential rebate from Austin Energy is the cherry on top -- thanks!
Mike and Dor define the standard for excellent customer service. They are truly interested in understanding their customer's need and make appropriate recommendations. Their service area is spotless, which tells me another story of how they run their operations. I recently purchased a second City+ bike from Mod Bikes, and fully expect a long-term relationship. I would highly recommend Mod Bikes !!!
We came to the MOD bike store without knowing what we need exactly but the team in the store were really on it and they helped us out finding the right bikes for each of us. They were very professional and knew to ask the right questions to make us understand which bike we need. Eventually we bought 2 electric bikes with such an unique and cool design which serves us so well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!!
What a lovely little business. Mike was extremely helpful and friendly, giving us plenty of details about each model of bike they sell. He was also very honest about the supply chain issues they've been having and realistic about bike delivery timelines. Plus, they have a cute dog! I ended up buying a City+ bike and will update this review in April once I've had the chance to ride it around town.
After doing a LOT of research on different electric bicycles I bought my mod bike and I LOVE it. These guys are fantastic and they are willing to spend as much time as needed to answer questions and help you decide on options! They have some great options. Quality electric bicycles AND quality customer service. Would give them 10 stars. Locally owned and operated. Go check them out! DK
I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Everyone here is SO NICE! The shop is really clean and organized - the people are super helpful. I was lucky to win a bike from a raffle at the Austin Parks Foundation Party for the Parks! I think it's really cool that they care about our community and environment and were willing to support the foundation!! #lovewhereyoulive #givewhereyoulive THANK YOU MOD-BIKES!!
We arrived at the store with a good idea of what we wanted as we had been researching ebikes online. We left with something different! LOL! They asked insightful questions with the goal of identifying our needs and what would be the best fit. Everyone working in the shop was friendly, low-key, knowledgeable and very helpful. we LOVE our ebikes, bought the "Black." HIGHLY Recommend!
After a month of commuting on my Berlin I couldn’t be happier. The bike looks great and powers me up the steepest hills. I’ve quickly racked up 300 miles on my bike and looking forward to the next 300. The owners will go above and beyond to make sure you’re satisfied with the bike. If you’re looking for a cool bike and flawless customer service, look no further than MOD Bikes.
I had no idea I needed an electric bike until I spent the day on a MOD City+! Dor & Mike are amazing, but the products really speak for themselves. They’re stylish but are also honestly more practical than a car in Austin. Having a MOD makes my travels WAY more enjoyable. Forget sitting in traffic then trying to find parking.. I zoom from door to door now. Total game changer.
I went in to test a MOD Bike and the process was completely hassle free (and they even offered some nice coffee!). The guys let me rent and test ride one of the bikes along my normal daily commute. (This usually takes 19 minutes on a regular bike). I did that route in 6 minutes on a MOD Bike. If thats not enough to convince anyone to buy one of these, then I don't what will.
Mod Bikes is filled with cool people. I've been to the store three times now to test, buy, and pick-up a new bike. Each time, the people there have been friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful. I sold my car and replaced it with the Mod City+, and I have no regrets. It's a comfortable commuter that's feature-packed. Skip Aventon and Rad Power – do something cooler, and local!
Mike is easy to work with and will take care of you. I had some issues with the side cart which was frustrating. The decals all falling off and bubbled. Definitely expect better quality for the price. Also I got different forks than advertised Which doesn’t appeal like the one in the pic. Dogs loves it though! Just don’t plan on the side car to go on and off with ease.
The best bikes and service. Shop here first if you're in the market to buy. Mike is one of the most personable and knowledgeable sales persons one would hope to encounter. Given the quality of product and friendliness of staff, my purchase of a 2020 Mod Berlin was an easy decision. This is a local Austin electric bike shop that needs to be supported by its community.
Mod bikes is the ultimate in electric bikes in the greater Austin area. Their service is top-notch from start to finish. They've been fantastic. I would recommend Mod bikes to anybody that would like an electric bike. The two guys that own that place they are super. I mean customer service. It was awesome and still is. I highly recommend them. Thank you so much !
My husband and I purchased two of these e-bikes. We bought the “Groove” cruising bikes and absolutely love them! We took them on a road trip, ride them to the office, pull our dogs in their Barker trailer to the dog park and on and on. The investment is worth it and the service by Mike & Marcus is attentive and helpful. You won’t regret MOD Bikes of Austin!!!!!
Absolutely love this place. I ordered one of their competitors bikes and had Mod Bikes assemble it. The bike had many problems with it and these guys were so helpful and patient. They completely rewired the bike to get it working finally so I know I can rely on Mod Bikes for any issues in the future. Next time I’m buying a Mod Bike instead of another brand.
Best customer service ever. My bike shipped from Texas to Indiana in two days. Put it together in 1 hour and went cruising immediately, wow what a blast. They stayed in the phone with me when I had a little issue installing the side car. Then they shipped me a smart helmet for free.love this company, they are the best. Tucker my French bulldog loves it too
I bought a MOD Berlin bike from MOD and could not be happier. Fabulous bike and very personalized service. In comparing many electric rod bikes the Berlin is a great value for the money. Come with all the important options i wanted including fenders, lights, disk brakes, multi-gears, quality seat, etc. I highly recommend the Berlin and MOD Bikes services.
Great service! Fun rides…just do it. And I’m an owner. The back order sale, plus the Austin city rebate makes this epically affordable. I went this route for the included local service. And would recommend to anyone wanting to replace the boring car commute with an electric bike - go the Mod route. Check out their story, where the mod concept originated.
This place treats you as if you are their one and only customer. They were so attentive to customer service, and now that I have my Easy Bike, I know that they put that same attention into their products. I unconditionally recommend Mod Bikes to anyone looking at an e-bike (or even if you aren't looking at one, maybe you should be!).
Pretty bummed for how much I’ve spent. The headlight on my mod easy failed with under 100 miles on the bike. The team wouldn’t replace it under warranty. The soldering seems very cheap. I also believe my battery indicator does not work on the display. The bike battery has said full and the bike just does, that’s happened twice now.
The great people at Mod just performed a tune-up of my Berlin which I have ridden for a little over 6,000 miles. I had what I thought was a rear derailleur problem which they were able to fix by installing an all new rear cassette @ no additional charge! Brakes adjusted, bike was cleaned. All this done within 48 hours!
For over 20 years our horses were our adventure. We hauled them ALL over the country but at 73 and 74 it's time for new adventures. Thank you Sandra and Mike for your wonderful caring and sales. You made our choice easy. And thank you Marco for introduction to our new bikes from head to tail! See yall down the trail.
Mod Bikes was excellent. Mike was great to work with. He outfitted the bike with everything I needed to do my 350 mile Texas Hill Country one week ride. The bike preformed really well and was very comfortable. I had no problems what so every. If I return to Austin I would definitely rent from Mod Bikes again.
Went in just to look and walked out with a bike order, and trailer for my pup. The engineering and fabrication of each bike is impressive! On top of that, the staff is knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. Test rode a few different models and found the perfect fit. So far the experience has been wonderful.
We met Rob at the Electric Expo at COTA. The customer service there was fantastic. No one else at the expo really spoke to us but MOD did! we rode their bikes and made a purchase at the store. We wont get our bikes until next week but they have been head and shoulders above everyone else at this point.
Zero stars. Neat concept, nice looking products, but as a Canadian customer I couldn’t have anything shipped to me, even though I have never had that issue in the past. Company didn’t care much about me once my money was paid. Ended up asking for a refund and they were good about that.
Great purchase experience by going direct to the Austin office. Online we thought we wanted one version but when we spoke with the pros about our needs they recommended the City. We’ve been using for a month now and have really enjoyed riding even in hilly Georgetown trails.
My first ebike purchase and I decide to buy my bike at mod in Austin. Mike the salesman was wonderful very patient and answered all my questions. The bike was ready when promised. I would highly recommend mod bikes. Thanks for helping me find the right bike. I love it.
Love my e-bike! It's so fun to ride and people are always complimenting me on my cool bike. Such a great purchase. The MOD BIKES owners are so helpful and maintenance is a breeze (and free)! Highly recommend you check out MOD BIKES for your whole family!
I love this place! Smart, friendly staff, and the bikes are the most fun I’ve had in years. My wife rides the Berlin and I ride the Mod Black. I had a couple of issues with my frame, and each time they fixed me right up. I highly recommend Mod Bikes.
Have you seen the new store? wow! new designs, amazing and professional service as always. Mike even helped me rack the new bikes on my truck. If you're considering buying an electric bike anywhere else, you have to check out MOD bikes before hand!!
BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON EARTH! I LOVE MY MOD BIKE WITH THE SIDE CAR, MY DOG LOVES THE RIDE MORE THAN ANYTHING, I JUST BIKE AND SHE RUNS AROUND THE HOUSE! PICTURES TO FOLLOW. THANK YOU TO THE ENTIRE STAFF AT MOD BIKES FOR DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB!
I was completely blown away by my visit to MOD. Not only was every employee incredibly knowledgeable about the bikes and attachments, they were kind as well. Not pushy at all, they let the products speak for themselves. I felt like a kid on
Mod's customer service is fantastic. (Someone always answers the phone). I'm on the shorter side (barely 5'4) and the Step Berlin is the best e-bike I found. It's very comfortable and perfect for my commute in Atlanta. I highly recommend it.
If you're in the market for electric bikes, don't skip checking out Mod Bikes. Mike, the owner, is truly amazing, personable, helpful, knowledgeable and just good people. Go see him, take a bike for a spin. Who knew you could bike uphill,
