Although I ultimately only made a smaller purchase here because I found something that fit my gifting need perfectly at a nearby competitor, I really loved this store and cannot wait to spend more time wandering around here more on my next visit. Both the owner, and moreover, the clerk with whom I mostly worked were very knowledgeable about not only their selection, but also the relatively obscure genres that I expressed interest in. The reason for the one-star deduction is because, for several of the books I considered, the price for an "average"-condition book was often higher than I've seen for "like-new"-condition books elsewhere -- Granted I had a small sample size from which to make this assertion. Nonetheless, this was a beautiful shop with helpful, friendly, and highly-competent staff, and the relatively smallwr gift I purchased from them was ultimately well-received, due largely to the clerk's helpfulness.

Don't come here if you have respect for books or are looking to find a redeemable quality in humanity. If books were people then this would be one of the largest man made disasters ever in human history. They don't look after their books with proper organization and even if you find a specific book there you like then It'll likely be sucked into the navigation-less void of the basement, raised to a ridiculous price or waterlogged right next to the pile of books next to the washroom sink. I was interested in getting a book but was told I couldn't buy it and then later on I was told I had to buy an entire volume of the books series. This place may have once been loved but that love has withered away. The owner is very Cavalier with your requests to get a book and you'll be so provoked with ire that you're body temp will be raised to farhenheit 451 .

This is NOT the place to come and take selfies or do your next photoshoot. The owner is quite frustrated with the amount of people who don't even bother to ask permission before photographing inside. I don't blame him, especially if people are taking up space for paying customers. There's not a lot of space for social distances and definitely tough to navigate through. If you have any walking aids like a cane or crutches, definitely gonna be tight, if you have a wheelchair, you won't want to even attempt it. As for the books, there are so many unique and obscure books here, they appear to be reasonably priced and less than retail cover prices for newer issues.. If you are looking for a rare or one of a kind book, it's definitely worth having a look.. If you love books, you're going to need a couple of hours to browse or you're gonna miss a gem.

An interesting concept for a bookstore. Initially didn’t know what to expect and was unsure how they were stacking things. It was nice to realize that they had an organization system. It has a lovely charm to it. I found books both old and new. It was neat to realize that the owner had a understanding of complementary books to the ones I got and was able to quickly find it and pass off. I want to go again before my trip ends; more for the feel of the place than anything else. It feels cozy and a little haven outside the extreme modernity and marketing capitalism we have surrounding us. The people there are lovely, gentle and helpful. The only thing that gets a bit dicey is that the price for the book isn’t always listed visibly so rounding up cost before going to the till can be a bit difficult. Good prices though.

I was here, just yesterday, after looking for a book in two other second hand book stores - to no avail! I went in and immediately saw what I was looking for (Game of Thrones: A Clash of Kings - just in case you wanted to know, for only $6 too and in fantastic condition!). The shop is super cute and has real character; there are books as high as the ceiling and they are everywhere too, but it has such a great charm too it, it reminds me slightly of Olivander's wand shop in Harry Potter - I got a real nostalgia feeling when I went in! There are no airs and graces about the shop, it is purely a great second hand book shop - I imagine if you were to spend some time in here you could root out some old time classics! I will definitely be back, and recommending this place to my friends when they ask :)

Absolutely astonishing variety of books! Remember playing treasure hunt when you were small? This is a place where you can have the same joy finding a treasure that's hidden in this mountain of old books. This family owned bookstore has a really good source of precious books and I love walking around, looking at several sections and reading those books. Many of them used to belong to private collection or a library, so super rare with beautiful hard cover and illustration inside. One thing I feel it could be better is the way they arrange books in here. There are so many good books but they don't have enough space or people to preserve them in the best condition so some of them wear off quicker. However it also means the price is super reasonable. Love it!

Although this book shop looks amazing upon entering, with hundreds of books sprawled across the floor, walls, and shelves, this is also the store's biggest problem. It is extremely difficult to find a specific book. There is some sort of categorisation going on, but it can definitely be improved. The best would be to really take your time and search through a shelf of books one-by-one, as there are some gems to be found. I cannot fault this store on its material - some stellar editions of classic books available. Similar book stores are better priced in my opinion - I would drop the prices of trade paperback books a bit; the classics are fairly well-priced. Should they improve their store layout and organisation of books, I'll visit again and update.

It's an interesting bookstore, with very proactive staff, but I would not recommend going if you have anxiety. I was visiting from out of town and wanted to stop in as soon as I saw it! I went right to the desk to ask where to find culinary books, and they directed us right to it. But as I was looking around, I went to take a picture and was told off in an unnecessarily stern manner. They spoke to me as if I willfully ignored their no photography policy, but I only saw the sign after they mentioned it, as they were both by the entrance and very easy to miss amongst all the books. I apologized profusely, and repeatedly, as well as deleted the photo. But I had to spend the rest of the visit just trying to quell my anxiety rather than enjoy the store.

Excellent used book store, lots of variety and the staff are super helpful and friendly. I went in looking for poetry and was astounded by the amount of books they had across all genres. I asked Kat to suggest some female poets and writers and she took me all around the store giving me a synopsis of writers I might like based on authors I already loved. She was friendly and easy to get along with and super informed about literature. I ended up leaving with 3 hardcover poetry collections at 30 dollars- super affordable! This is a treasure trove of second hand books at affordable prices with passionate people running the ship. Can’t recommend enough.

It's hard to beat a book store where the employees actually know about and love books. I've been coming to this bookstore for several decades now from college onward and very seldom when I'm looking for a book have come away disappointed. This place looks like a bookstore, piles of books in little towers were in boxes, the smell of musty books and dust mites. This time I request was relatively easy, a well-known writer in BC are used to hang around at the railway club and shoot the breeze with anybody with a passing interest in Vancouver. One of these days I'm going to tackle Gibbons multi volumes history on the decline of the Roman Empire

I didn't do any research, just after walking gastown I wanted to check local book stores. I went in and was immediately impressed by the messy style of the book store. busy owner, multi-tasking on multiple inquiries and can virtually talk any topics, knowing where a certain book is. busy assistant took me to another storage place across street helping me finding my favorite subject about the south asian subcontient. customers, some are students coming together, some just come solo. I love to see so many "book worms" in this messy book stores. books are from floor to ceiling, and on chairs, hallways, on carpets. this is lovely!

  • TyrellTWheeler

Floor. Floor. Floor. Books all over the floor. If you are looking for a curated experience, this place ain't it. However, BIG however, if you are looking for an eclectic smash up of everything, this place is the spot. Come here for an incredible selection of classic and cult-classic authors (so many different editions of Joyce or other classic novelists), specific non-fiction topics - best selection of philosophy books in the city - and just a really fun browse of some older editions of books. What you won't find here? Hard to find the thing of the moment; for that, better of going to Pulp Fiction or Indigo.

  • Kate Brosinsky

This place was immense. There are so many books in here you don't even know where to start. There are stacks upon stacks upon stacks of books. It was a little hard to get around and would not be recommended for someone in a wheelchair. However, The staff there are incredibly friendly and helpful. The gentleman we spoke with knew more about books than any other bookstore clerk Ive come across. It is %100 worth checking out, especially if you are looking for rare books or want a bookstore clerk who knows exactly what they're talking about.

  • Emma

I wasn't in the store for long but it had a really cool atmosphere (the piles of books, everywhere). I accidentally dropped a book and ripped it and the owner was totally cool about it which was a relief. I ended up buying a Dostoevsky book, good condition for about seven dollars. The owner was really outgoing and kind!! Had I more time I would have explored a little more, there was a huge huge huge selection. Even if you don't plan on getting anything it's super interesting to look at the variety of books and shelves.

  • JC Adriana

This place is old, way too over crowded with books ( it reminded me of an episode of Hoarders- literary edition ) Books stacked up everywhere - piles and piles of them. Despite this - I could not find a single book I wanted. I had to ask for help even finding any of the genres I was interested in. The owner was rude to someone who showed up wanting to sell him some books ( “Make an appointment!! “) My husband however, has had success with selling him some older and rare books. Thus the 3 stars instead of 2.

  • Rebekah C

Been going here since I was a child. Almost every Sunday my dad took me on a used bookstore adventure, this was always my favourite, since the 90’s. Hopefully the city and developers stop trying to get you closed by using the fire department as a tool to close you down. This is by far the best bookstore in Vancouver. The gentleman there has always been so helpful and they have a fantastic collection of books. This place has my heart! Love you Macleod’s! Don’t let this yuppie driven city take you down.

  • Nataliya Radke

An absolute treasure of a book store. Even if you’re not a big reader of physical books, it’s worth a trip just to meander through the stacks of books. I’ve slowly been adding to my history collection, popping in every few weeks to see what’s been added or uncovered. If you come in with a certain topic or book in hand, do yourself a favour and just ask for help. For instance, non-fiction or history books are kept downstairs, which isn’t obvious at first.

  • Mia Luhan

When you enter this bookstore, it truly is a one of a kind experience for every book lovers and collectors out there. I was overwhelmed by the variety they had it's not just like any other used bookstores out there. They have piles and piles of books that tower over you so take all your time because you're gonna need it digging through all these amazing books. They have a wide selection of rare and vintage books as well which was absolute delight!

  • Eve Mapledrank

The space and selection is off the hook (and a bit off the wall.) When in town I always go, and I always find books long-sought and intriguing. In this review I would like to highlight the sole staff member on hand when I last visited; he was uncommonly genial, knowledgeable, inspired. I didn't catch his name, but he is an expert on salamanders. Helping other customers, his voice catalyzed a profound ASMR experience for me. Customer satisfaction!

  • Jeremy Burgher

Definitely an experience. Sort of haphazard, and not the sort of book store you'd go to if you're looking for something specific, although it's impressive how much the employees know about where to find certain things, if you do ask them any questions. It's really just got a lot of character, and is a lot of fun to browse around. Just sort of chaotic and confining at times, and I was disappointed by the signs insisting that pictures not be taken.

  • Lina Khandaker

I love this place. Absolutely stunning and you can easily spend 8 hours browsing through all of their massive selections. Despite how messy it might seem, the books are all organized by genre and by author so if you need help finding something, the staff can get to it easily. They are also very friendly, and every time I go in, I always have nice chats with them. It is an iconic place that is a must visit while you’re in Vancouver

  • Monj

Perhaps the last of its kind... An old school second hand book store run by charming, knowledgable and helpful staff. Stacked high with beautifully musty old editions covering pretty much anything and everything, as well as recent used copies. The risk of sending a pile of these tumbling as you work your way through the store is part of the pleasure of idling away a couple of hours in here. Do visit and keep supporting this place

  • Peter Toth

Went there today to look for an obscure book, while I didn't find it, India look around and found more books from the same author. It's one of those places that you will have to spend some time in to look around because they just have so much stuff it's not the most organized. That said, it's all about finding those random books so if you have an hour this is a fun place to check out for those hard to find or older prints.

  • Sandeep Vasudevan

This is what I had dreamt of having when I grew old - a study full of books, on shelves, on every available horizontal surface, on the rug, spilling over everything. It's obvious that the people who run this - an elderly couple - love books. Saw the old gentleman pick up some used books someone brought over, and the lady helping out a couple of venturers in finding what they want. Picked up a David Sedaris book there.

  • Carmela LA

I feel bad when I come out of this store having not purchased anything, but I adore walking through its tiny isles, scared I may knock stacks of books or shelves altogether but it's like hunting for treasures in here! I also appreciate the friendly customer service from this bookstore and hope they continue to love promoting their own love for literature even to people who just want to marvel inside the store.

  • Olivia

At first it seems so CHAOTIC… but then you realize the piles on the floor are alphabetically organized and it smells like the perfect hole in the wall place that you only see in vintage movies… I thought I was just tagging along with my friend but I ended up getting five art books for great prices!! Also there was a sale for 3 hardcovers or more = 30% off. (5 smaller art books: 1 hardcover, 4 paperback = $42)

  • Jakob Schmidt

Probably the best bookstore in van. It's a messy place but it adds to the character. You might have to push some boxes around to get at stuff. Owners are helpful -- unlike certain other big chains, they've actually read a few books and know what they're talking about. For those of you criticizing the old man that works here, give your head a shake. He is friendly and talkative but doesn't suffer fools.

  • Turtles and Peace Photography

I went to Macleod’s Books to sell some of my collection. They have an incredible store with lots to choose from! The store was busy, the staff were busy, but I was greeted and dealt with quickly and respectfully! I got a fair price for my books and the ones that they didn’t buy, they said it’s because they won’t sell well. I highly recommend Macleod’s Books for buying or selling!

  • Diana Lee

Loved the smell of old books. This place is every book lover's dream: books stuffed into every nook and balanced on every surface. It's difficult to turn without knocking a couple books around. Personally, I thought this effect was a little overwhelming, and I couldn't find anything that I was looking for because of the sheer volume of titles to skim through.

  • Robert Elliott

Very good service. I came in looking for a book which was not readily visible on the shelf. The staff went to the trouble of checked the basement and the back room for me. After no success they even called up another book store to inquire. Nice to see that level of dedication even when they aren't getting the sale. They have me as a returning customer!

  • Kristyn Lindsay- Schrier

The books here a little more expensive than what I was expecting for a used book store, especially for older or damaged used books. The inside is extremely interesting and I could spend hours just looking but prices need to be a little more competitive and researched as some books were more expensive than what is being sold new in another bookstore.

  • Devon Boorman

An amazing, eclectic, and magical experience to wander through chaotic stacks of beautiful old and relatively new books on pretty much any topic you can imagine. Amazingly knowledgeable staff who are able to find very specific items in all the glorious chaos. Absolutely worth the visit whether you have a goal or just want to get lost for a while.

  • Linda Adams

Magical. Most likely haunted. Bought The Prague Cemetery, can't wait to read it. Also accidentally found an old favorite from when I was a teenager called A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. My husband didn't get anything but he did get asked politely by a ghost to move out of the way. Tugged on his shirt. No joke. 10/10 will come back.

  • Brady Fullerton

This bookstore is an experience like few others. I wouldn't go in with something too particular in mind, but if you're willing to wander through the mountains (I mean literally floor to ceiling piles) of books then you're in for a treat. Come for a wander and find something that surprises you. You won't be dissapointed by the experience.

  • Justin Stein

Incredible place! Just went for the first time recently and an already looking forward to my next visit. You could spend days looking through their shelves. They have more stock in the basement and across the street -- if you don't see what you're looking for, ask and the knowledgeable staff can likely help. Can't miss for book lovers.

  • Binish Ujjwala Das

If you like vintage books and varied genre, you must go there. I loved the smell of the old books and the uniqueness of the place. It reminded me of HOME ❤️ I could spend my whole day there if I had enough time. There were so so so many books to go through and had amazing collection. No doubt, I’m visiting the bookstore again. ❤️

  • Laura

Huge independent used book store. Books stacked floor to (very high) ceiling. Photography of the store only by permission. I couldn't find what I was looking for and the staff were too hurried to assist me. Selective about what they'll buy back. Good for browsing, not for sitting and sampling. 10/10 for old book smell.

  • Veronica Zayas

If you enjoy reading, this is your place. They have a huge amount of books from many different categories and they are second hand which makes them much cheaper and in very good conditions. You have to look a little if you want to find anything in particular but you´ll enjoy looking around and can find so many things.

  • G

Chaotic, messy, dirty, smelly and poorly stored books. Breaks my heart to see that this many books were just poorly cared for. The "style" attempted by keeping it "organized" this way is not an excuse to not keep the store clean. My visit at this location lead me to believe it is overrated, overpriced and unsanitary.

  • Mashall Sharma

Cons: little to no organization, areas that are sectioned have very small/ non existent labels, books everywhere you can barely walk, making up prices as you walk to the register, unsure if they have the book because nothing is cataloged. Pro: Lots of rare books/ collections. Some new. Helpful staff. Locally owned.

  • Devin Blaney

There are literally books falling onto the floor from stacks piled high enough to reach your waist; stacked in front of shelves packed full of more books, books of all kinds and sizes. Absolute chaos but, the staff knows where everything is and will point you in the right direction quick as can be. Amazing! …

  • Will Plowright

Fantastic book store with a huge selection. It's well organized, with lots of great paperbacks and also lots of hardbacks. Some really great old editions and first editions kicking around as well. One of the best book stores in the city. Fantastic for any book lover, bit especially those that love a good rummage

  • Duncan Goetze

Great little bookstore. The staff are cheerful and happy to help. There is a wide selection of books ranging between contemporary authors and antiques over 200 years old. It is, however, difficult to navigate, and if you are looking for books by an author or in a category, I would suggest asking for assistance.

  • Sunny Day

It was so nice to see an actual Book Store open and surviving the pandemic. The staff went out of their way to help me find what I was searching for. They were very pleasant, courteous and knowledgeable. I found the Bobsy Twin's, once again! I will definitely be a return customer. Easiest 5 Stars I have given.

  • Jia Yue He

Good books in good condition at good prices---what's not to like? The internal organization is labyrinthine and a little baffling to the uninitiated, but the staff are immensely helpful and hunting for a book is always an adventure. Ended up with a copy of the Color Purple, though I was tempted to get more.

  • Kenneth Fagan

I really wanted to buy some books here, especially the one I had in my hand. The elderly gentleman that works there put me off buying anything so I put the book down and left. Poor tone and bad energy ruined my visit here for me. I don't think reprimanding a customer for picking up a book is a good idea.

  • Julian Worker

An excellent secondhand bookshop with many different sections to choose from. There's been a bit of a tidy up recently and there aren't quite as many books on the floor as there used to be but the choice is still overwhelming and you'll probably end up buying a book you didn't come into the store to buy.

  • Olivia Tomlinson

absolutely magical place, i always have to make sure not to blow my paycheck here. Excellent selection of newer used books, as well as some truly incredible older books. The owner could work on his people skills, but he more than makes up for it with his fantastic knowledge of books. Highly recommend.

  • Ria Hundal

This is my go to place whenever I need more books. What you don’t find anywhere else, this store has it. And what a wonderful and knowledgeable staff! I love visting the bookstore… the price is always lower than expected. I think Vancouver needs more second hand classic book stores like this one.

  • Ryebread the White

Probably one of the coolest places I’ve been to in the city! Got a great deal on some books that are out of print and hard to find, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and the books are literally stacked to the ceiling! A great place to look around if you’re wanting a good read.

  • Eldritch

Amazing and awesome experience for the first time visiting the store, never thought I would struggle to keep my mouth shut, I was just amazed at every corner and stack of books, the more you look the more you find, I could spend every night in that store and would still never be satisfied.

  • John Graham

Great traditional style second hand bookstore! It's wonderful to see these places still survive. Located very conveniently downtown. Filled to the rafters with tons of books - intellectual, arcane, and popular all mixed together. Place where a bibliophile can lose themselves for hours!

  • Bradley Jones

Impressive. Looking for something fun and entertaining to do? Walk into Macleod books, I’ve wanted to enter the store for years. WOW. What a great find. I found a book which I have been looking for for years which was out of print. Great selection. Great store . Great memories

  • Prod. Monty Lelievre

This store is amazing. They were flexible on price, helping me out with A Brave New World simply because the employee enthusiastically insisted it was a must read. This is the type of service you can't get on Amazon. I'm extremely thankful, this had made me a repeat customer!

  • Alessandro Monetti

Complete chaos. Piles of books everywhere making it hard to move around the store (someone knocked down piles simply by turning around). Labels on shelves don’t always match what’s on there. I’m sure there are plenty of great titles, but way too disorganized for my taste.

  • Nainika Agrawal

Massive collection of all sorts of books, and multiple editions available of many titles. It’s a little disorganised compared to The Paper Hound down the street, but they have a lot more books. Great place to spend a couple hours browsing. The staff is really nice too.

  • Robert Cromagnon

Books, books, and more books! Books on shelves, books in piles, books in the window.....and staff who know exactly where to point you. The trouble is every time I pop in looking for one specific book I usually walk out with three or four more. A bibliophile's paradise!

  • Carolyn Dunn

Cool store, maze of books and great for browsing. Found the lady there very charming and cool. They didn't have what I was looking for but was still a great selection to consider and both workers were knowledgeable. Will come back for my next book-finding adventure!

  • Aishani Gupta

An amazing bookstore, I could spend hours sifting through their amazing collection of used and rare books. Not sure why google says it's only got rare books, the used book selection is phenomenal. So, I would say it's more accurately labelled "used and rare books"!

  • Cole Fortin

Warning. This place is a mess. A beautiful whimsical mess. The mess of the place adds to the overflowing library feel. Amazing bookstore, me and my girlfriend both loved it. If you like books and can handle some chaos, I would highly recommend MacLeod's Books.

  • Cosmo Kwan

Great place to check out some rare, collectables or antiques books collections. Love this store!! Finally had the chance to really browse in this store and managed to find 2 books that i was surprised to get at a reasonable prices. More to explore next time!

  • Alex Tsang

A real treasure trove for bibliophiles in Downtown Vancouver. The place has a sort of 'organized chaos' aesthetic, but the book hunt is just part of the fun in my opinion! Staff are well-versed in their stock and happy to help you find what you need.

  • Thitaree Tanprasert

I love going to this store. Just being among all the books and trying to find something that catches my eyes among the piles. One thing to be aware of is that the aisles are very narrow, so when it's crowded, it's quite difficult to move around.

  • Soefae Chen

I have been here twice and will definitely return again. Store owner is very knowledgeable and considerate. I love visiting this store and getting great deals on second hand books. I recommend everyone to check out this store if they have time.

  • Map Maker

Cute little independent book store laid out in the tightly pressed bookshelves of an organized yet eccentric and well read academic. It gives you that treasure seeking experience as you for that specific volume amongst the sprawling tomes

  • stephen wilde

wonder the isles. step over the piles. even if you’re not looking for a book and just want one of the best visual historic vancouver (not yet torn down made into cheap/expensive condos) experiences, you will find a book to purchase!!!

  • Elvira Lewis

One of the best used bookstores in Vancouver. The range of books is incredible! One can spend as much time browsing books in this store. The shop is a bit messy and crammed, but the prices of the books are reasonable. Worth a visit.

  • Karena Lindstrom

Very cool used bookstore, literally filled to the brim with books on many topics. There was a wide selection of old, hardcover titles. The staff were friendly and helpful for locating areas within the shop on a certain topic/genre.

  • Rico P

This is the best book store I have ever been to. Absolutely brimming with unique and hard to find books. This is a paradise if you enjoy book perusing, books stacked floor to ceiling. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

  • Rodolfo Dickson

It's been 2 years since I've seen this place. Super happy it's still open after the pandemic. Great selection and friendly staff. You get the odd character that enters the store but that definitely adds to the experience.

  • Kari Berdahl

This place is beyond great. One could easily make a day of discovering books - just remember to take your allergy pill before you go (if dust is an issue for you). I doubt just one visit would suffice for most folks!

  • jonathan culleton

Chaotic, literally piles of books everywhere, overstuffed shelves- with occasional gems dotted throughout- some bookshop lovers will thoroughly enjoy this place, others may find it a little frustrating!!

  • Ed Yu

It's old and small but has many used books that are mostly over priced. On one hand I'd want the business to survive in the modern age but on the other hand there really aren't many good things to say.

  • Marc SACHET

Fantastic location for the book lover; tons of recent and older used books (some of them like new); if you look long enough (although time seems to stop there), no doubt, you’ll find your special gem.

  • Angus

Booklovers, come here, step back in time for the traditional second-hand book store experience. If it's your first time here, and it all looks a bit confusing, just ask the super knowledgeable staff.

  • Matheson Murray

My favourite bookstore in Vancouver. Staff are very helpful and know where things should be. A great place to go in not knowing what you are looking for and coming out with a couple of books.

  • Manik Singh

One of the most interesting book shops I've visited. There is a charm to the books scattered all around. Most books have been ordered and you can definitely ask for help for finding your book

  • A. Pourmomtaz

Best place to share an eclectic variety of old and new books. At first seems like piles of books but they are actually well organized. Lots of fun and surprises for books you like to find.

  • Ileanna Sophia Cheladyn

A magical heaven for book lovers. Piles of books with hidden gems all over. Not necessarily easy to navigate, but it's an absolute haven to nestle into. Don't expect a quick trip. :)

  • Ponda Baba

I love this bookstore. It's like something out of a movie!!! Go in just to get lost and take it all in. I love to buy Sci-Fi personally. Old and New, Weird and Rare, they have it.

  • j frazer

Love me a used bookstore! This place is stacked with every kind of book you can think of: classics, gently used, and hidden treasures. A booklovers dream, a musty warren of books!

  • Andy Z

A cool second-hand bookstore. You'll probably have to dig through the piles a bit to find what you're looking for, but the hunt is very fun and there are quite a few hidden gems.

  • Brandon Harrison

Love this place. Wall to wall of books. Although it looks overwhelming, it’s very well organized by category. You can spend hours digging through books in this small shop.

  • William Wilson

So many books, it looks like a book style dream world. They aren't just on shelves, but stacked high to the ceiling. If you love books like I do, this is the place to go.

  • Raven Lunatic

I was there with a friend. There was only one person working there, and he seemed to be limited in what he could do to assist customers. The place looks in disarray.

If you love literature this is an absolute gem. Great selection and very reasonable prices. Support with your wallet so wonderful stores like this continue to exist.

Fun place absolutely packed to the brim with books you'd never find anywhere else. The staff is friendly and helpful, and you can get lost in here digging for gems.

Found this place to be quite interesting, they have books from first edition to the newest edition of books. Staff were very friendly and I'm glad we went inside.

It’s a vey unique book store. I don’t want to say more so you can experience it yourself. If you are into books this store should definitely be on your list.

Excellent selection and friendly staff. Prices for newer releases were decent (not cheap, but fair considering recency + condition). Will be returning soon!

Fair pricing and they have a great collection of books! The staff is knowledgeable and knew exactly where all the books are! Would definitely visit again.

A true literary treasure trove...if you can look past the disorganized mess. Super helpful staff who seem to know everything about each book you pick up.

Probably the most famous bookstore in Vancouver. It's a bit chaotic, but that is its charm. I almost always find something worth walking away with.

The shop is a crammed mess. But they have lots of interesting titles at reasonable prices so we love visiting it on nearly every Vancouver visit!!

A true treasure in the city. Mountains of books here, you can find lots of interesting/unique ones. A perfect spot to spend some down time here!

They have so many very cool books here. Make sure you have time to look through the mountains of sections. I have bought many odd one offs.

Not a big fan of the owner, he was so annoyed when I asked to pay my book, very rude and unhelpful when I asked him for titles as well

  • Belle Espada

I LOVE MACLEOD'S BOOKS. Even if you don't read, if you've ever dreamed of seeing a lot of books all around you, this is the place.

  • Geoff DeLuca

So many books! Go there if you like looking thru piles of books for used hard to find books. Helpful staff, good location.
