Definitely one of my favorite used bookstores in the Pacific Northwest. Lovely offering that, for my literary self, could be browsed for eternity. The owner is pretty knowledgeable too, even on really obscure books. And finally, I think the prices are pretty reasonable given the rarity of the items. 2/21/22: Remains one of my favorite boutique booksellers in the city. Doesn't take forever to browse the wares, and you're guarantied to see something you haven't seen before.

This is one of the nicest bookstores I've been to! It's nice and small but filled with books of all types from floor to ceiling. Whether you're looking for a new book or a really old collectors one, they'll have something for you. It's the type of shop you walk into and immediately feel the love they have for their product, it just radiates a love for books. The owner was also super friendly. Definitely make this place a stop if you're in downtown Vancouver!!

Lovely, neatly curated spot. I was looking for 3 specific books but I only needed to find 1, as I was happy to read whichever I could find first. I visited 3 much larger bookstores in the area, some of which said they had items in stock that apparently they didn’t — or couldn’t find due to chaotic [lack of] organization — I finally found one of them right here! Lots of other interesting titles here. I’ll be back the next time I’m in Vancouver!

Amazing bookstore, I love the way the genres are organised, and there are treasures on every shelf. I love that there are some new titles mixed in with the old. The owner works in the store herself and she has carefully curated her selection with excellent taste and an eye for quality. She has kept the prices very reasonable, and it was a pleasure to be in the space. I will definitely visit again. Thank you!

Very warm and lovely store with wide and highly tasteful selection. Perfect place to pick up quality literature in multiple languages all in one convenient location. Staff are kind and helpful. Always a treat coming here. Definitely recommend, especially for people who like to collect vintage books, read in several languages, or are looking for a solid philosophy selection.

This is a lovely bookshop where the books are easier to find than in MacLeods on the other side of the road. They do have some new books too as well as many second-hand books. There are many genres including philosophy, thrillers, and novels. The shop also sells collectibles and titles published by the New York Review of Books.

A lovely local bookstore that’s my go to when I need to order something in. You can easily place orders via email and they’ll keep you updated on the process. It’s also a great place to find books across all genres, from fiction to non fiction. There’s a great and cozy atmosphere so I never mind meandering through the shelves!

This wonderful little Buchhandlung is utterly saturated with delights - all housed in a unique realm that will surely compel you to forget your worries and dream. To visit this place is to do your health and wellbeing a wonderful favour. I look forward to my next journey. Thank you for the E.T.A Hoffmann collection!

Lovely to find a bookshop like this in an era when they are disappearing. Beautiful little layout to the shop, a mix of new and used books - you had various publishing editions of the same title. Lots of anthologies and hardbound older editions. Best part is, there's a sweet lady who gives you your time to browse.

Awesome little used bookstore with a great vibe. If you like vintage or unusual books this is the place for you. Also really appreciate how organized and clean the store is, which can not be the case with bookstores of this nature. Owner is very kind and knowledgeable and great place to check out on a rainy day

Such a lovely little nook. We made a special trip to visit, given the eclectic tastes mentioned in other reviews. We left with nothing but good stuff, great impressions, and if we had more time and space might have bought the whole shop, altogether. Be sure to see some really incredible antiques in the back!

It's a smaller second hand store. They've got something figured out here in a neighborhood with two other bookstores nearby: eclectic reading. You won't find John Grisham here. If I'm looking for a rare book I always look here. If I don't find said book I always find something else just as interesting.

Definitely my favorite bookstore in Vancouver! Great location and they have a great selection of rate and interesting books. I took in a bunch of books for trade-in and was given a very reasonable exchange. I live this place; orgs always tough not to walk out with an armful of books every time I go :)

It was a great experience just browsing around at this small bookstore. Being greeted at the door then no interruption during the whole time I'm there which I personally found very pleasant. I appreciate that the owner just let me take my time. I walked out of the store with two great findings.

A great independent bookstore with carefully chosen stock. If I come into browse I always find (several) somethings of interest. Especially good for literature and poetry and books in the Humanities. New and second hand, always in good condition. My favorite bookstore.

  • Samantha Kristoferson

A small book shop that you can spend time in. Love the novelties of zines, poems out of a cigarette machine, and a photo album filled with pictures found in books. Grateful to find a title here of a book I've been hunting for. Friendly, courteous, and super laid back.

Great little book shop. Check out the shelf pics. The shopkeeper is great. I wanted something to read on a flight and asked him to suggest 3 books totally out of the blue. He didn't miss a beat and I was glad for the one I picked. Check it out if you're in town.

Little book shop with a lot of new as well as old sure to please anyone looking to pick up a good book. The shop has a lot of charisma. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable; sometimes sharing interesting tidbits about the book you're buying.

  • Samantha Noriega

The original book that I was looking for was not available but bought a copy of my fav book of all time instead (Dorian Gray). I also bought a poem for 50 cents and won a free poetry book! It is a bit small but with patience it is manageable.

  • Soefae Chen

Beautiful and neat little bookshop. The ambience is great and the shelves are organized with creating sorting names. The employee I met was knowledgeable and enjoyable to chat with. I will definitely be visiting the shop soon again.

  • R Lowery

Such a cool little bookshop! If you like vintage, antique or collectible books this place is the best. The prices are really fair as well, especially since many of the books are in really good condition.

  • Kennedy Goodkey

Quite a lovely place. Small and not a broad selection - but it is a Rare book store, not a Used book store, and the distinction is important in this case. But what you DO find, will be a gem in pulp.

  • Wyatt Anton

Awesome bookstore. Very good selection of off-beat, esoteric writers. The poetry dispenser is super cool and the books are organized into accurate genres for the discerning bibliophile.

  • Nainika Agrawal

A beautiful bookstore with a peaceful vibe and some interesting titles. Their collection isn’t as huge as MacLeod’s down the street, but it’s tidier and more organised.

  • Sailor Pahl

I always find some book I didn't know I needed to have! Enough new items regularly to make each visit interesting. Not a big shop but they do have quite a selection.

  • geoffandcheryl

A true gem of a bookstore! A varied and eclectic selection of books combined with friendly and enlightened staff make the Paper Hound a book lovers delight.

  • Max Winter

The best bookstore in Vancouver. Great for new releases but also one of the most unique selection of older books both fiction and non fiction

  • Coz Bird

Very, very cool used bookstore with a fantastic selection, reasonable prices and an atmosphere that can't be found in your chain bookstores.

  • simon do

It is an interesting book store, lots of used books. I will have to come back and spend more time. There is a book there I wanted to get.

  • Leanne Beet

The perfect bookstore experience with a well-curated selection of books both new and old. A great place for quirky finds.

  • Caleb Harder

Was able to find a first edition of Catcher in the Rye, kind of feels scandalous to have the first two editions now

  • Tammy Herbert

Sweet little store with an array of books old and new. We found a book for a gift that was unique and rare.

  • Anastasia Kostaki

Super cute and quirky bookshop with interesting shelf names and book categories. A must for book lovers ♥️

  • Magdelanye Azrael

Not only were they familiar with the obscure author I was seeking, they had a copy of each of her books!

  • Svea Poulsen (Sveava)

Also a good selection of used books and new ones too! Friendly and helpful staff. Resonable prices too.
