Well it seems Maclures' rating has improved since I last checked so good for them. However, I was underwhelmed tonight. I was at the airport. I gotta admit, I'm an Uber girl, it just takes away the guess work and makes payment easy. That said I figured it would be faster to take a taxi instead of waiting for an Uber, it was late at night and raining. I saw that an Uber would be $23 so I asked the taxi how much he would be. He asked the destination and based on that he told me it would be about $20. I figured this would be fine. He put the meter on and I saw it rising closer to $25 as we approached my home. I figured that was fine, a little calculation error, no problem. Only then he passed me the card machine and said that it was $29. He said there was a flat rate and showed me the paper with the rates on it. I said he had said $20 earlier and the meter read $25.55. he said the meter was for insurance purposes and that he had said $29. Now I'll admit I did find him hard to understand a bit so it is possible that he said $29 instead of $20. He certainly didn't say anything about a flat rate and it didn't say anything on the window with the various other PSA's. So had I misheard? Maybe? But you know who is always clear about the price? Uber and Lyft! Plus then the card machine didn't take my first card so I had to try a second one. Altogether just a rather awkward and unpleasant experience. I'll wait extra next time.
Reason: - Charge a little more even tho the rate was less (40 cents) but the point its not what it show in the rate that was put in the machine -Meter still gettin charge even when its stop.. -Cab has crumbs in the back , didnt even bother the front he told my aunt if possible to seat in back (3 people) but by the looks of it there was so many crumbs on it and food? - smells like food not in a good way like the cabs is just stinky and dirty.. -ask for CASH whcih we dont he didnt insist but we felt but for not having it, if it was said before hand (calling the cab) then at least we beoguht some Will i try this cab comapny again? prob not, is it all like this maybe not but first impression last so for me if this cab had no hygene prob other will have the same. I am not picky but its just gross even jist removing those crumbs jow long should it take u to do it.. and getting chrge while i was paying.. I should hve not tip but im not rude still tip the normal amount of usual tipping.
A combination of dangerous driving and inadequate support staff makes this cab company one of the worst in Vancouver. If you’d like a near death experience then book with these guys, but if you value your own life in any way I would suggest you take any other means of transport necessary. Specifics from our experience: Had to explicitly ask the driver if he was planning on getting us killed before we arrive at our destination. Our driver drove 105km/hr in an 80km/hr zone. Our driver decided tailgating cars as close as possible was appropriate. Our driver swerved in and out of traffic several times throughout the trip. Notes for business operator: The driver of cab M93 on July 10th @ 6am is a danger to human life on and around the roads of Vancouver. You should seriously reevaluate the capabilities of that man behind the wheel. License plate: RP 0609
My BIL was picked up from a bar in downtown Vancouver last night, agreed upon a fare rate to Langley, paid that initial $100. He fell asleep in the cab and he woke him up when he arrived at the house as I was getting home from work. The driver made him pay a second time, this time $140. When we called the company and asked why he was double charged they claim they dropped him off at a house party first. There was no house party, they picked him up at a bar and dropped him off at our house. The shady cab driver took advantage of a drunk foreigner scammed him. I was dropping a patient off at surrey hospital when he messaged me that he was leaving in a cab and we showed up at the house at the same time. No time for house parties, I certainly wasn’t having one after a 12 hour shift on ambulance. These drivers are shady, gross scammers. Stay away.
Voted #1 Cab Company Vancouver -Outstanding Honesty-Tourism In early Feb.2023 I took a MacLure’s Cab from Granville Island market to our downtown hotel. After paying my fare I inadvertently dropped my wallet inside the cab. Our hotel doorman contacted MacLure’s cab company and the dispatcher immediately located the driver who returned to the hotel with my wallet and contents! The honesty, professionalism and kindness of the MacLure’s Cab Company was outstanding 10 STARS !! Thanks to the unknown driver for demonstrating a level of exceptional honesty and kindness that deserves to be voted #1 Cab company in Vancouver! Definitely a reason to select a MacLure’s Cab if your a tourist like us and respect such honesty. A great reflection of what tourist can expect when they visit the beautiful city of Vancouver! Thanks and many blessings !
My personal favourite cab. Super easy to get. They’re really fast, and I’ve not had an bad experience yet. I first heard about them from a neighbour that worked there, so catching a cab was always quite easy for me :P Sadly he’s passed, so now I have to call them or go online to reserve a cab like everyone else. Luckily they’re head office is near me, so it’s also another perk. Drivers are pretty good. Not crazy like other taxi companies. And these guys have been around for a long time. They even drive over the boarder! *of course the cost is high, but for people that want to catch planes in the states, it could be cheaper to get a taxi to the airport in Seattle, then to pay more to fly out of Vancouver. Something to think about. In any case. Give them a shot!
This is my favourite Vancouver taxi, and usually never any problems (except one, over several years. Used to call and now use app). Good service and no one trying to make off meter deals. Fare estimates are sometimes cheaper than Uber. I think there was one time with a delay when I was going to the emergency room with a bad cut, and the driver went to a building across the street or something instead of meeting me at mine so I was waiting a long time and didn't see him, but that was really unusual for them. Frustrating that he wouldn't come over and not seeing where he was while still seeing he was supposed to be there according to app because I was stressed and had to go to hospital in the worst part of the pandemic.
Took a short trip from the YVR to Vancouver with my kids. There were four of us and the driver was angry that I was sitting beside him during COVID-19 times. We all had our N95 Mask on, just to be safe, and still got berated for not asking him first before getting in the cab, even though the YVR Taxi Attendant told us to go to his vehicle. It was the most uncomfortable and disrespectful attitude that I have ever received from a taxi company. Even my kids were scared and silent as he yelled at me during our trip. His driver #150469 and he picked us up at 11:40am on August 15th. I used UBER for the first time to get to the airport and it was the best experience. I will never use McClure Cabs again!
I took a short ride from YVR to my home. I stayed quiet in the cab and the driver suddenly mentioned that he takes cash. I told him that unfortunately, I don't carry cash. After that, he checked his phone frequently while he was driving. It started to rain hard on the way so I asked him whether he can close his fully open front windows slightly. He pretended that he didn't hear me so I had to knock the transparent barrier between the driver and passenger and say the same thing three times while I got rain on my face through the gap. I don't think this type of customer service should be allowed and it is a shame that other visitors may face poor customer service in Vancouver.
I wanted to say thank you to the driver who picked me up on Wednesday, December 21 in Kitsilano and took me to the airport. Vancouver had the big snowfall on Monday, but the roads were still not clear on Wednesday. I was trying to call other cab companies but could not get through. I happened to see a Maclures cab drive down my street and ran after the cab, hoping I could get the driver to call another cab. The driver kindly offered to come back and get me. He came back within ten minutes, and I was able to get to the airport and catch my flight to see my family for the holidays. We had a lovely conversation along the way too. Thank you, thank you!
We took a very short cab ride from a waterfront hotel to another hotel in town. The ride was just fine. We had a sweet older gentleman driver. Once we checked into our new hotel, I realized I had left my toque and gloves in the cab. I called and the dispatcher told me the driver would be right back. I waited less than 5 minutes and there was our sweet driver again. He handed me my belongings and I tried to give him another tip for coming back, but he would not take the money. What excellent service! If we are ever in need of a ride in Vancouver again, we will be looking for the blue MacLures logo.
No show on a 4am airport bound taxi booking! It caused a lot of stress as we scrambled to find alternative taxi in fear of missing our 6am flight. Our call to MacLure's was placed on the hold music for a long time. When the call finally went through, we were told they didn't have enough drivers and have asked Blacktop Taxi to help. This should have been arranged ahead of time and let us know. We called Blacktop to verify and they sent another driver. Both arrived at the same time. We are thankful for Blacktop's responsiveness. Save yourself stress, don't book with MacLure's.
We were coming back from Maui and were exhausted and had a difficult toddler. With all of our luggage we were unable to fit in a standard t Can and with our luck, with we’re picked up from Raja with night car m75 with his wheel chair accessible van. The van was clean and we found him to be polite, understanding and extremely helpful. You can easily see he takes great pride in his job. We also enjoyed the flat rate fee from the airport to our hotel so there was no surprise. He also made sure to help us unload the luggage around midnight when we were dropped off. Thank you!
Booking one is a chore (vs a simple one-two click of a rideshare service), it's hard to figure out how much the fare would be until you're at the cab itself, sometimes drivers would "forget" to turn on the metre until halfway thru, or like confused about the route and would still charge such a mistake to you, they won't pick up on a popular landmark (think: SkyTrain station) because they need the address and yet they come off as if they're not sure where you're going, gosh I could go on and on. But they're immune to surge pricing, so they're a great plan Z
What's that saying? "If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all"? Last night, returning to YVR, after a really long flight, we lucked out to get a MacLure's Cab. Our driver (Cab 155) got us home in a jiffy and then was kind enough to turn in my wallet containing my passport (and cash!) that I had dropped in the backseat when getting out. AMAZING! Thank you SO MUCH! I honestly didn't think I'd find it. Suffice to say my new favourite cab company is MacLure's. Kudos!
Absolutely shocking, got ripped off by the cab driver who told me it was a $20 dollar flat fare as we were picked up from Vancouver port . As I didn't know any better I duly paid the fare even thought the meter was substantially less . Only to find out that friends in the cab in front of us paid the meter fare .No mention to them of a flat fare . Doesn't paint the company in a good light and to make matters worse I even had to type the address in Google maps for the driver
Garlic! Could have been a 5 review. Efficient satisfactory service. Needed cab service from YVR airport to White Rock. The driver was courteous and offered me options on the route (showing me Google maps) to take pointing out traffic congestion. He handled our luggage at pick up and drop off. I would give 5 stars but….drivers, please be aware of what you eat - the interior of the car reeked of garlic and made for an uncomfortable ride.
Driver drove his cab like a maniac from the Fairmont waterfront to Sunset. Going up to 75 km/hr in a 50k zone. Squealing tires around a corner. Cutting people off. If I could give zero stars I would. Also spent most of the ride driving while distracted as he started by looking through pics on his phone while driving and then was on the phone (with headphones in) for most of the trip. Shame on the Fairmont for putting us in a cab like this.
Taxi was sent in lieu of Handy Dart yesterday for my 90 year old grandmother. McClures is paid by HandyDart. When my grandma got in the car, the driver said "my boss told me to tell you that you have to tip me 10 dollars". This is exploitative and it is surprising to hear that your taxi drivers support trying to rip off vulnerable seniors for a quick buck. Shame on you, this was also reported to HandyDart.
We want to give a big shout out to Valie(hope I spelled the name correctly)from cab M177. He went out of his way to accommodate us and made us feel welcome as soon as we got in his cab. Great personality, knowledgeable about the city and just all around great customer service!! We will definitely book his services the next time we are visiting BC. Thanks for making our trip easier. Mark and Lisa
Was debating between taking an Uber from the airport and taking a taxi. Thought we’d give MacLure’s a shot — big mistake. Fares from YVR should be set by zone, the cabbie used the meter and took a traffic-ridden route which ended up being a fair bit more expensive than the zone we were supposed to pay for. Was with my elderly parents so we didn’t make a fuss, but we’re never using MacLure’s again.
I always use MacLure cabs. They are always courteous, on time, and know the city well. I don’t know how I could ever call Uber a day ahead and schedule a pick up time. MacLure does this for me constantly. I wish more people would support local cab companies and quit using Uber. It’s the local companies that will always be there for you and easy to contact when you need to ask for help.
First, the drive didn't Take time to place correctly my luggage and I spent all the trip with the constant schock of one of my bag. I barely had help for my luggage at the entrance and at the exit of the taxi, even if I gave à tip, at 1 am, the driver left me on the empty street with my 3 luggage and, didn't waiting for me to be sure I entry safely into the building. VERY BAD SERVICE!
Rude Drivers, and taxi drivers who demand cash and try to charge more than the meter rate. The driver was yelling at us when we first got on then when we were done demanded cash even though we wanted to pay debit, at the end he never told us what the meter rate was and it ended up being 16$ yet he tried to trick me into paying 25$+ in cash. Dont ride with these a holes.
We took a Maclures cab from Canada Place to the Museum of Vancouver ( 1100 Chestnut Street). Trip was fast and driver very courteous. We called Maclures Cab again to take us back to the Sea-bus station. The cab was quick to pick us up and the different driver was very courteous again. I highly recommend They are our preferred cab in Vancouver going forward
The taxi arrives on time but each driver charges a different fare when going to the same place from the same spot. Tried 3 days in s as row and sll different fares…not honest. Also teach your drivers how to speak English or French as these are the only 2 official languages. All drivers were hard to understand and didn’t understand the address as well!
I noticed the driver add in an extra $2 to my fare (the meter said $20, which he quickly turned off before pushing in the amount I needed to pay - likely so I wouldn't catch on. He set the bill to $22). I was going to tip $3 (15% of $20) so I just tipped $1 instead, but this dishonest behaviour makes me unlikely to pick this taxi service again.
Thank you so much to MacClures cabs for coming thru for me! We had a pre booked cab with another company that didn’t show up. I called MacClures and despite the recent snow storm, they sent a driver over right away and we managed to still get to the airport on time. I will use this company for all my Vancouver taxi needs from here forward!
I've always used Maclure's Cab whenever I can. Fast friendly service and today because they couldn't get me a cab quickly they outsourced to another taxi company so I wouldn't have to wait so long. That's costumer service! Thank you for thinking about what I needed and not about your bottom line. You guys are the best!
Got in at the airport and was only going to the harbour air terminal. Was informed AFTER the cab had started driving that it’s a $20 flat rate. I take this route back and forth twice a week and have never been overcharged like this. This is the first time I’ve ever taken Mclures cabs and it will absolutely be the last.
Careful if coming from YVR. They'll only go with the zones pricing if it's higher than what's on the meter and vice versa if not. They run the meter and then choose. Has happened three times now, latest one last night. Also 18% more expensive than Uber... Pretty shady there, MacLure's. Latest was M170
This cab ride was rad, and had a great conversation with the driver. He was punctual and prioritized getting a big enough vehicle for 2 adults and 3 young kids late at night. I will only use this company from now on when I come to the big city. We had a safe, attentive, polite and caring experience.
Driver was jhsf throwing our luggage at the trunk. And almost had an accident. On red light he went thru and said j thought it was go and stopped athe center. Cab m1w2 at the yvr at 730am. When we were paying by credit card he ask if we have cash. Really . J said no cash then he took my card.
On May 28th at around 7pm I took a MacLure cab from the airport to 14th at Burrard St. I am visibly crippled (74 year old female) using a cane. The driver double parked in front of my building, put my suitcase on the street behind his trunk, then drove away. Yes, I had already tipped him.
My cab driver was amazing and so sweet. He communicated where he was, picked me up, and got me to the ferry with 30 seconds to spare, in the snow and craziness and in a rush, and he even made sure that I got in and got my ticket. An exceptional taxi ride and best taxi ride ive ever had.
Used McClure 3 times while visiting Vancouver and had good experiences each time (including a 4:30 am pickup!). Would have done 5 stars but I wanted more feedback about where the car is like Uber/Lyft have— but app was rated as 1 star so I didn’t download it. Anyway, very good overall
Unreliable taxi company. Every single time I've called well in advance to reserve a taxi, I've been left me high and dry. It's no wonder no one wants to support the taxi mafia any more. Don't even bother if you need to be somewherr on time or book a ride in advance, use Uber or Lyft.
I booked a taxi to the airport half an hour in advance, and mentioned the number of people and they said they'll send an SUV. After having to call a second time, the cab shows up 15 mins late and it's not an SUV, so we didn't all fit and had to take a second car. Won't recommend.
I did not take a ride with MacLure's Cabs but was driving next to one today. The driver of M63 cut in front of me causing me to do a harsh brake then middle fingered from the window. If he can't wait for buses pulling over then don't try to be quick and drive in their lane.
I set my pick up time for 0415, driver came 0408! Amazing. Driver helped stow my luggage in the trunk of his Nissan. Drive was smooth and quick. I was at the airport in 20ish mins! Service was WAY more cheaper than booking with Uber by a long shot! Highly recommended!
Drivers repeatedly running the stop sign near my house. I have it on cctv cameras and a dash cam from my own vehicle. Absolutely unacceptable driving. I have reported and sent footage to the police. Company wouldn’t even answer the phone to take responsibility.
Car 10 ... Demanded cash payment up front along with exact address. When I didn't know the exact address and told him to charge my card he rejected the fare, called dispatch and told them to send an alert out bcuz "I had no money". Called 911 after! Unreal.
Great drivers and usually good service! But today I called and they told me a taxi was coming in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I called and they said they didn't even have a taxi available. They weren't even going to update me, so glad I called to confirm
Horrible experience, extremely arrogant and rude driver, racist, and almost had to end the ride. NEVER again. You would not even believe how bad this cab smelled! Do not use this company if you care about customer service, a clean cab, and safe driving.
Took a nice ride home from YVR last night. Just be aware of zones and flat rate pricing. My driver insisted the flat rate to my home (in a $20 zone) was $22, but being tired after travel and the amount being minor, I didn’t want to dispute
I was in the merge lane, so merged in front of M67. No other vehicle merged in front of his car, so only one car, which was me merged in front of him. He gave me the finger! Unbelievable!! This guy should be fired!!
Booked a taxi for the airport. He arrived 10 minutes earlier and helped with our luggages. Good driving skills (that needs to be mentioned in Vancouver) and friendly. Best experience I have had so far in Vancouver
The driver for the taxi I called was so rude and unprofessional. We didn't even get into the taxi before we were met with the worst customer service ever. I recommend everyone to never use a taxi from here ever.
By far the best cab ride I have ever had.. His name was dhillon inderjeet, he provided an amazing attitude, amazing music, picked me up within 2 minutes of calling. Could not have asked for a better experience.
Maclure’s is Vancouvers best taxi service. For two years I alternated and used every Taxi service available in Vancouver; Maclures is the fastest; most efficient and price worthy cab fares since 100 years ago.
I am not against Uber and fair competition, but I am loyal to patronizing local taxi drivers who are just trying to make a living. MacLure's is a very good company with excellent service and friendly drivers.
We used them for close to our entire weekend. We had 5 passengers and a wheelchair and they were able to service us all. Wonderful and engaging drivers and clean vans and cars. Thank you!!!
I needed to get to the ER after a nasty fall on the recent icy streets. The thoughtful and courteous driver made my trip less stressful and got me safely there. Thank you, MacLure Taxi :)
I had a pretty bad experience with one of your drivers. This situation took place at the International Airport YVR on August 15, 2023, at 10:40 pm with the Car license Plate RF 6553.
After ordering our cab the night before to take us to the airport, our cab showed up right on time and our driver was great. Helpful with our bags and friendly. Cheaper than Uber!
My taxi got here quickly, it was fresh & clean, the driver was very personable, I felt safe with his driving and he got me to my destination in a timely manner. Great experience.
I’m done with Uber and Lyft last second cancellations. I waited for 1.5 hrs for a ride and then called Maclures and the driver was nice and got me there fast and didn’t ask how.
Driver 89 deliberately tried to cause two accidents in a block and then ran a red light. I would never set foot in one of their cabs and they shouldn’t be on the road. Unsafe.
Got in a cab. The guy refused to turn on the meter and asked for $50 cash instead. Illegal in vancouver but that didn't stop him from kicking us to the curb when we declined.
Cab came within 10 minutes, fare was just $9 and driver was friendly. Uber was showing a 30 minute wait to Granville island so decided to call these guys. Very glad I did!
Rude, scam artist drivers. Added extra money to fare without warning. When asked why, they said to get out of the cab if you weren't happy. Sketchy scam artists! Beware!
Ordered my cab late Saturday evening, expecting a long wait. It arrived within minutes, a clean car with a pleasant driver who took the fastest way home. Very pleasant!
A maclures van was parked outside my apartment at 630 on west 11th Avenue, idling with his high beams shining in my apartment for quite awhile. Unprofessional behavior.
Driver showed up ahead of time, which is always the most important thing to do when you’re heading to the airport. Driving was smooth and efficient. Excellent service.
Forgot bag in cab. Called within 1 minute of him leaving and they charged $25 to bring it back. The cab ride itself was only $12. Never will I use this company again.
Always reliable and the best taxi service in Vancouver. We use this service every time we book a scheduled pickup to the airport as we know we can count on them
Told me they were too busy and to contact vancouver taxi. I guess they don't want buisness. Just go with another company, their drivers are arrogant anyways.
Charging $15 moving fees, and begging for cash deal. what a scam. other taxi (Yellow Cab and Vancouver Taxi) doesnt charge it, and they can use credit card.
My driver was on time for a scheduled pickup and was so very very kind. I loved this company and will be sure to use it every time I visit Vancouver.
Quick and speedy service. Our driver was very respectful. They were the only ones running at 3 am. Another cab company and Uber would not pick us up.
watched a MacLure's cab almost crash into 2 construction workers and a bus in Vancouver. Dangerous Drivers, highly do not recommend.
Great service and very good driver and I enjoyed our conversation! I was on my way to the airport after visiting my adult children !
I took a ride from YVR to my apartment in Sunset community. The driver was not friendly, and the smell of the vape was very strong
Just a taxi service. Nothing special. U get what you expect, nothing more or less. Both Drivers I got aren’t personable nor rude.
Very kind cab driver, came quickly and helped us with a multi stop trip. Hadn’t used them before but would definitely use again.
Pre-booked a cab for early morning for the airport. About arrival time a call came telling no cab available. Unreliable service.
Dispatch is actually nice and competent and their app works. Drivers are more professional than other companies. Taxi is clean.
To the amazingly empathetic and kind phone operator: Thank you! I wouldn't hesitate to use this company's services.
Quick pick up and got me to the airport in time after the Canada Line was shut down for a security incident.
Don't make a reservation with Maclures if you have to be somewhere on time (like the airport).
Excellent service, I ordered 2 taxis (1 van and 1 standard size vehicule) they were on time.
Reliable local cab, great for me as I live in Marpole and commute to Richmond often
Bernie was the epitome of customer service, friendly and helpful. Thank you 9
Do not use their app to book a taxi. Their dispatcher do not even check it.
Always punctual and love the tracking option for pre-booked taxis
Very good service. Driver Chand was very courteous and helpful.
The best taxi company, on time and all drivers are so good.
Always reliable! Won’t call any other cab company.
Polite and on time was very happy vab was clean .
Driver friendly car clean, arrived as scheduled.
