"Excellent hiking/bike trails"
Great spot for summer or spring get away. Parking can be a bit tricky during the busy season but they allow you to park on the grass so it’s fine. The trail down is very steep and slippery so just take your time- especially with children. This park is pet friendly as well but keep an eye on your four-legged friends as there are other dogs here and it’s a steep hike down. One you make it down to the spill way, the views are great! The falls are really nice to take in but I wouldn’t go swimming in this water- it’s a run off from the spill way after all. Also there are also lots of fishermen here who could careless if your kids are swimming here- they will continue to fish. Another reason I wouldn’t get into the water due to tangled lures on the bottom and trash or metal on the bottom. Knocked the rating a star as sometimes the trails are not maintained so ticks can be a thing if you arnt sprayed up- but that’s any park really. Also, at times there can be trash everywhere so be mindful of the glass and watch your step. Overall this is a hidden gem in DFW and is highly recommend! The views alone will refresh your body, mind, and soul.
I love Sansom Park as a person who loves hiking in both the easy trails and the challenging ones. For the most part Sansom is not extremely easy there are sections that can be but you need to be prepared for actual hiking. There are some beautiful views and great trails. The maps are not 109% accurate and the color coding system while great doesn't always match what's on the trail or the signs are hard to find. I've found myself on different trails while following supposed signs for a different trail. That being said I had a great time and now that I have been I have a much better understanding of the trails and will plan accordingly. I saw people fishing, mountain biking and people taking their dogs. So it is great for lots of different activities. I am unsure if kayaking or canoeing is allowed but there are parts accessible to water.

Absolutely beautiful park! However, it is destroyed by its guests. The amount of litter that accumulates is disgusting and most of it is left to wash down our waterways. Honestly the place is gorgeous and you can visit on a super hot day and not be miserable if you stay in the trails with tree coverage. It’s just super upsetting to see so many visitors disrespect the space. There are a couple people who do clean up out of their own good will, but it’s not enough. People hike down to the river and leave trash instead of hauling it back to the bins by the cars. Overall, definitely visit this park, BUT pick up after yourself and others please
We had an awesome hike out in Fort Worth this morning. Some of the trail was rocky and steep I fell a few times, but it made for a great workout . I saw people fishing, mountain biking and people taking their dogs out for a walk and picnic, So it is great for lots of different activities. * let's not forget the beautiful water fall My first time here but I definitely plan on coming back. O and: I looks like someone had a party bags of trash and beer cans everywhere near the falls next time TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU. SMH
Excellent hiking/bike trails. Nice views from the top near the parking lots and two waterfalls at the bottom of the trails created by the spillways are also nice. We saw a couple of deers just on the trail. There's a lot of steep trails so have to be extra careful. Wear the correct shoes, if too thin, you will feel those big rocks when you're in the trails. If inexperienced or just haven't exercised in a while, you might have sore calves the next day if you go all the way to the bottom here the waterfalls are and back to the top. Nevertheless, this hike is worth it.
This park can be as high as a 5 or low as a 1 or 2 depending on your experience. First off, I do love the trails. They are a lot of fun. That being said, I hate that a lot of individuals leave this place like a trashcan and remnants of society abound. Today we saw one family releasing a ton of mylar and helium balloons into the air..saw another individual lighting some candles and paper on fire and putting them into the river. Wish the city and people would clean up the park as it is very pretty and it should be an attraction to residents and visitors.
Beautiful place, I went hiking with my family and it was pretty fun. I want to go back and try the mountain bike trails, unfortunately the trail signs were vandalized by people spraying paint on them as well as painting some of the rocks in the trail, a lot of tossed face masks along the trail as well. Also a bunch of young adults on the trail were using profanities and left driving in a reckless manner. Hopefully there can be some more control on those issues otherwise I can see such a nice place deteriorating pretty fast.
Overall a wonderful park for hiking and exploration right in the middle of Fort Worth. The trails are a little steep for children, but manageable. Perfectly fine for fit adults. Lots of glass scattered here and there along trails, but nothing too serious that can't be avoided. I'd worry about a dog or other pets though. Knocking it a star for that fact. At the base of the hill, the water falls are wonderful. Lots of horizontal space covered by waterfalls in a couple locations makes for great viewing and a fun afternoon.
really cool overlook of the spillway at lake worth, went on the trails all the way down to the "waterfall" really cool spot down there. Looks like it'd be good fishing spot but idk didn't have the poles with us, and to much of a hike to go back and get them. Not gonna lie I got pretty tired on the way back up. legs are sore I'm outta shape.
Dog-friendliness
be great backs woods trail to take the 4 legged companion. seen couple hikers with dogs.
It was a very nice adventure to get out here and enjoy the cool Texas spring. I believe this is the first time I've seen a real lake in maybe years. And believe it or not I used to live on the lake this is a beautiful park. O'boy they have walking trails good Lord I couldn't tell you how far them damn things go, I believe it might be forever. You need to be careful and plan your hike, round trip hike may not be feasible. Have fun and enjoy.
My family had a great time. While walking we found that some areas of the trails were a little difficult to get up. But we welcomed the challenge. The air was clean, the views were amazing. There was some trash, but that's not where our focus was. I assumed some were using the trash for markers to find their way back. I took some pictures and they came out great. I definitely recommend going here. Give it a try, it's free.
This is a nice park with great trails and a waterfall, but keep in mind that you may see trash and transient people, avoid it at night, and always be mindful of the weather when you go because it is a rather steep and rocky hike back up. Not fun in the heat or if you caught in the rain. Overall though I have always thoroughly enjoyed it. Oh and if you're a trail biker definitely check this place out
Dam Drop is a nice steep trail. If you are looking for an easy saunter, I don't recommend it. I enjoyed the challenge and it puts you right into the falls. The falls were pretty and relaxing. The airplanes taking off and landing are pretty cool too. My biggest complaint is all the trash. People, respect the beauty of this place and pick up after yourself.
This park has tons of FREE parking and numerous trails to hike. It's dog friendly and has lots to see like dam drops, creeks, views, and more. I'll be back for another hike soon!
Dog-friendliness
Dog friendly but they must remain on a leash.
Picnic area
There is a picnic area at the parking lot and a little bit down a part of the trail.
Great place for a hike if you can't venture further out. If not for the trash and, at times, poorly marked trails, it would be a 5 star. The trails can be challenging, plenty of elevation changes. As others have correctly noted, the amount of trash is disappointing, and gets worse closer to the waterfall. But overall it's worth the trip/hike.
I can't speak positive enough about this place to even give it justice. There aren't enough photos that I could upload to explain its beauty. I've only hiked here, but I see so many people bring their pets for walks, along with many bikers and fishers. This is my favorite place to kick off some tension while taking in a bit of nature.
Wonderful park for bikers, hikers and walkers. They have a combination of trails for people love a challenge or want a lighter outdoor experience. You also have a huge area to explore with some hidden gems along the way. If the weather and year are favorable (ie: no drought), you'll see captivating waterfalls relative to the area.
I love hiking here, everything is perfect, except the trash! Pick up your trash! That includes your fishing equipment. There are no trash cans on the hike, be prepared to have your reusable bag with you in order to take your trash to the top again. The city DOES NOT pick up the trash on the trails, it is up to us to keep it clean.
I come here all the time with my dog! If your dog is trained and have 100% callback it’s leash friendly to not have your dog on a leash. There’s a waterfall that I go to that you can swim, be warn the water smells like algae of course. And wear very supportive shoes, it’s rocky and slippery and I have fall many times haha. More
Very rocky, quite hard going down. But going up to my car was a STRUGGLE. Highly Recommend!! if you want to get a great hike in DFW. I went when the weather was not too hot so it was decent but in the summer, take care with plenty of water. Not too many bugs on this trail and its fairly clean and please keep it like that.
Pretty nice park but beware that it is rocky and steep to get down to the waterfall. When I went the water looked murky so I wouldn't suggest swimming in it. A nice variety of trails and scenery. Some people brought chairs to sit by the waterfall as there is level ground once you reach it.
Very beautiful, I don't know who said the hike to the waterfall wasn't hard, maybe it's been washed out since they've visited? But it's VERY steep going back up! See the second picture for a small snippet of the hike showing the steepness of it. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves
Marion Sanson was a wonderful experience. My friend and I ran a five mile hiking/mountain bike trail. It was one of the toughest runs I've ever done! It's a great experience for walking, running, mountain biking or fishing on the banks. You'll get some great views as well.
We initially came for the waterfall but the park is overall a nice place to hike if you are tired of the "easy" parks. It was a bit confusing which paths are for bikes and which for hikers. We found a fossil and there are some cool old wrecks below the Inspiration Point.
You can easily spend an entire afternoon on the trails here. I recently went with a small group of people on Earth Day and volunteered to pick up trash. It's sad to see how much litter people leave in such an otherwise beautiful park. People- pick up after yourselves!
It was noon when I decided to visit this park. I had a lot of fun doing miniature hiking lol. The sun shining upon the lake was breathtaking. I hope they keep it clean for a very long time. Would like to take a few family members there during spring or summer.
It was a nice park-type hike in the city, shaded for much of it. Trails were well-marked and well-maintained. There is some trash on parts of the trail closest to trailheads, which is unfortunately typical in this area. I would recommend for sure. More
Absolutely beautiful! And parts of the hike were surprisingly challenging, which I needed for a good workout. The park could use a clean up & some maintenance but other than that it was a lovely experience. Can't wait to go back in the summer!
The area is quite expansive with multiple trails that tend to cross and wind along each other. Take your time to get to the next rest point and you'll be greeted with some very lovely scenic views. I was personally paying too much attention
There are plenty of trails and a fair amount of shaded paths for those hot summer hikes, but the trails are very poorly marked and are mixed with mountain bike trails so you're constantly on the lookout for a bike rider to come flying
Went hiking here for the first time. Definitely advanced level hiking almost at times to the point of rock climbing. The porta-potty could have been better. No toilet paper. Otherwise it was fun. We saw some trash but not a whole lot.
Good trails..nice shaded but giving 3 stars because they were lots and lots of broken glass pieces in the trail. That really needs to be better managed. I went with my dog and i was really worried she was gonna step on them.
Beautiful area! It’s sad how much trash is around though. Fun time with family! Beautiful waterfall! Nice area for little hike. Keep in mind I did see some tents ️ in the trees. I go there with a group. Just stay safe. …
Nice shaded trails. Variety of options suitable for weak and strong hikers. Giving 3 stars cause the trails is full of lots of broken pieces of glass. I was with my dog and it had me worried for about her wellbeing.
We spent a pretty perfect fall day here. My main complaint is the broken glass and excessive garbage closer to the parking/access points. Once you got further in to hike/bike, the garbage was much less.
Great trails to hike and ride bikes on. There's a map/tracks to follow, you basically can't get lost lol. Signs guiding you the way, or just follow the sounds of the beautiful waterfall at the bottom.
I very much enjoyed it because the trails are moderate to extreme. This is a nice park to picnic, but bring your own grill, didn't see any. There are nice fishing spots and two porta potties.
I've been here twice with my husband and kids. It is a great place to experience the outside, hiking, or biking life. Definitely make sure you bring plenty of water and snacks with you. More
We love walking the trails even though some of them feel almost like one is mountain climbing. We noticed they added more walking trails, can't wait to go walking on the new part .
Had an bicycle enduro race out here with trail party. One of the best of the very scarce enduro trails in North Texas. The mini waterfall view is such a unique feature too.
This park has some very pretty views, waterfalls, and ponds/lakes. Just a heads up, some of the paths are very rocky and steep so it can be a pretty vigorous hike.
This place is accessible, quiet, very few people, and it's absolutely beautiful. Be sure to walk down to the falls and see the flats, they're covered in fossils!
This hike was a nice workout. We got to the water and my kids loved it. There were rocky, steep parts on one of the trails but a great time was had by all.
Pretty views. Rocky trails. Be careful there is potential to skip and fall. Wear appropriate shoes if you are going off the sidewalk trails.
Short trail to the waterfall, a little bit confusing but you take a picture of the map you should be fine, beautiful and a lot of nature
Was absolutely so beautiful and peaceful. A very easy trail. Some great peaks and a nice spot to sit and chill if you want at a table.
that trail to the waterfall always kills me (。・´д`・。) but i always enjoy the view whenever i come visit here with my dad so (*´ω`)
A beautiful place to hike with a variety of trail types to follow! So peaceful and definitely dog-friendly! Our dog loved it! More
2 hour hike going down and up for us, because we are nooby hikers, but was a lot of fun except for throwing up water twice.
Very beautiful park, nice views and scenery. However, if you want to walk on, the trails bring water and hiking boots
Great trail. Short hike, but nice. Way too much trash. Great place, but I won't go back because people ruined it.
Excellent maintained trials. Nice inclines, wildlife sightings. Bobcat, deer. Waterfall!

Always a great walk/hike here! Took our puppy for the 1st time, and he had so much fun and did very well :)
It's absolutely beautiful. So many trails you will never take the same one. Bring water to stay hydrated.
Very nice hiking park. Some of it can be tuff so make sure you bring some water and some hiking boots.
