HISTORY In 1870s 1880s Marrickville's clay soil was being used in brick production. Marrickville park was built on the site of the former brick pit owned by William Shortish. Between 1842- 1902 was know as Miller's Tip until it was gazetted as a public park in 1908. The original grandstand which was demolished in 1986 local historians recorded that many bricks bore the Porter mark which was another local brick pit. Marrickville park held a cricket match on Livingston Oval on it's official opening day in September 1910. Local recruited WWII soldiers used the oval for drills, during the war American service personnel played baseball. This park was nice to walk through with its unique war memorial, walk of sports fame plaques around the cricket field, toilets, play area, batting practice cages, tennis/ basketball courts, lawn tennis courts and bird statues in a garden.

This is an important community Recreation space. Beyond It's historical significance it is as well loved today as ever. Since the recent upgrade the walking path is suitable for all ages around the oval. There is a fabulous kids Recreation zone complete with cooking facilities. There is a useful exercise section that has sensible exercise and fitness gear. I use this park daily to walk my dog and there is a lovely community of dog owners. Other features include the tennis club and Croquet Club, and mixed use basketball and tennis courts that are being used regularly especially amongst young people because it's now free to access.

Good playground for little kids with in ground mini trampolines, swings and one of those swirly wirly things kids like to sit on that go round and round and honestly make me feel like puking just to look at. It looses a star because the toilets are really far from the playground (well not that far but far enough to be be annoying, and it's a walk to a coffee. But a nice park in most ways. Cricket nets, an oval, a running/walking track - good open space for dog walking.

Probably the most beautiful park in the area, so green and clean. Fun children's playground with a bbq area. Basketball, tennis and netball courts. A dog park and fitness area with a pathway all around the park to do your jogging or speed walking. New grandstand to watch the cricket and footy games. Zeus Academy and the Tennis club are situated within the park grounds. Beautifully landscaped and well maintained.Love my neighborhood

Love this park. Only bad thing about it is all the owners that let their dogs off leash around the kids playground.
Playground
Basic but good little playground! If it gets too busy, lots of green grassy hills and shady spots to play.
Restrooms
On the otherside of the oval
Dog-friendliness
There's a designated off leash area for dogs
Picnic area
3-4 picnic tables next to the playground with bbq available

I adore Marrickville Park, it's so rich with flora and fauna, the children running around the playground always puts a smile on my face. I also enjoy watching the local cricket and football teams battling there way to victory.
Picnic area
I love the fact that the dog minded people are so down to earth and will let you join in a game of catch with their friendly pooch.

A great local park with new exercise equipment, basketball courts available, a large oval and a great children't playground. There are also a lot of local dogs that are walked here and lots of people having picnics. Even though it's on a main road, it's nice to grab a rug, and watch a game that's on at the oval.

Nice park with a sports oval, playground, lawn bowls, tennis and more. There are always people picnicking and relaxing. The ground gets pretty waterlogged and gross after a bit of rain and I wish more of the park was off leash for dogs as it’s currently limited to a smaller section of the park.

Great park with playing field for all sorts of sports. There's also tennis courts and kids playground. There's also enough shady spots to avoid the harsh heat. Plenty of space to walk your dogs, do cardio workouts or just chill. A welcoming green space for this buzzling community.

  • Leon Guy-Miller

Beautiful well maintained oval with cricket net and shaded stands. Kids equipment, BBQ's and a workout equipment section. Very clean but right on a major road so not that quite. Tennis courts and basketball courts on the far side with a small building attached.

  • Nina Raven

Really nice park for riding around on any form of wheels. Playground good for ages 1+. It is not fenced it but far enough from road to be it not to be a concern (unless you have a rogue child). There is also a section for off leash dog play.

  • Liza Little

Gorgeous big park, plenty of parking, large circle path around the park for a walking track and even a small off leash section for your dogs. We have found a great new hangout.
Dog-friendliness
It's definitely a dog friendly area.

  • Kath Angus

Playground, seats, oval, and some barely functional toilets. Locals tell me there's good Pokemon to be caught, so I guess it's got everything you need.
Restrooms
There are toilets and when I visited there was also toilet paper.

  • Madison

Lots of wide open spaces for dog owners to enjoy with their pals. It is near a main road, though, so caution must be exercised. Basketball courts are accessible to the public. The park gets great sun

  • Lee Hung Nguyen

An absolutely beautiful park late afternoon, with sunburnt grass hillsides. it has a running circle, free basketball courts, tennis courts, outdoor gym and a kids park. No public rest rooms though.

Nice park Toilets okay, not flash. Good play areas for kids. Tennis courts to hire online. Plenty of room to run around and exercise equipment for most age groups.

  • Brook Ayrton

Good size park. Quite a bit of uncontrolled dogs off leash. Inner west council should tighten up a bit and put fenced dog areas in parks like other councils do.
