The most strategic one at the down town of Sydney. From here you can take the train goes to the airport and vice versa if you are coming from the airport the best location to see the city and Opera house is to get off at this station. Most of the tourists attractions in Sydney harbour are close to this station. However, watching the homeless people sleeping there is not a pleasant at all. You need to get Opal card from the airport train station to have cheaper fare (around $16 instead of 22). Opal card is granted for free but need to add at least $50 in it.
A heritage listed underground commuter rail station. It's a hub station that serves the central business district of Sydney connecting trains from Bondi Junction to illawarra line. It's a very clean station lined with cafés and the odd newspaper stores. From here you can walk to the hear of Sydney or to Circular Quay. There's helpful staffs here and can purchase Opal cards for public transport.
Don't be fooled by the name. The station is not owned by Martin. He approached me and told me that i had to pay him to use the trains and after paying him what I thought a bit of an excessive amount, I got stop by the crew from the station who then explained me that this Martin person was a lier and that the station is owned by the Queen Elizabeth. Besides that, I like it.
The newest of Sydney CBD stations is extremely disability unfriendly - all of the surface entrances in Martin Place only have stairs, not even escalators. The only lift is way up east of Philip Street, in a pokey little alcove - even the (T) symbol is flat against the wall, blink and you miss it. I don't need a wheelchair - yet, but my dickie knees don't like stairs.
Plenty of ways to access the station, there are plenty of public toilets which are always spotlessly clean, there are a great assortment of take away food shops which sell a variety of delicious cuisines, the station staff are helpful and even in peak hour it is not overcrowded. Martin place is one of the better stations on the Sydney rail network.
I go to Martin place station every day for work. It only has 2 platforms but trains are always frequent during peak hour. There's 6 long escalators from the station to the platforms. There are plenty of barrier gates. They are upgrading the long walk down Martin Place with multiple entrances/exits so expect some construction right now
Lots of public toilets. Underground station connected to walking tunnels to nearby blocks. Note many of these tunnels are closed on weekends. Only two platforms so easy to navigate. Protip - If heading from Eastern Suburbs to Circular Quay area, it is faster to walk from Martin Place than to transfer trains at Town Hall.
Martin Place station to Sydney hand hospital takes 3 minutes. Google got that wrong, had me going left up Macquarie and around the block. Just go east up Martin Place to Macquarie Street, cross the road, then through the Sydney Hospital gate, keep walking until you see a sigh pointing to the right hand entrance.
A very convenient station. The trains are frequent. The station is quite clean and not too crowded even in the peak times. It really feels like hey need new entrance points. The flower stand right outside the turnstile sells the most beautiful smelling and lasting roses.
I like Martin Place. Quite afew Buildings of Victorian Architecture, very Grand. Near the George Street (West End) is The Cenator where the Dawn ANZAC Memorial (25th April Every Year) is held. At the East End is Sydney Hospital where Florence Nightingale once visited.
This station was built to be functional which is as a transportation hub. But it is a very cold and dreary place, it is sterile without any appeal to the senses. It needs something such as some artwork or even some pleasant background music. But not elevator music.
Why the HELL are the ads audible? Do you not make enough money from the ads lining the walls and elevators, or from out fairs? I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT DISNEY PLUS, STARWARS OR WHATEVER AT 7AM. i just want to sit here in silence. You do not care about customers.
Today we came in for a clean, we were greeted by Gagan at reception who was very polite and helpful. Ria was the OHT who conducted my teeth clean, she was very professional and a lovely young lady. Thank you ladies for a great experience Martin place Orthodontics.
Volunteers have a lot of trouble using their 'free' travel passes when there are NO rail staff to let them through. You stand there for ages, missing their trains waiting for them to come back. It's not good and needs to be rectified.
This station is surprisingly isolated and deserted late at night. Avoid if travelling alone. Excellent CCTV helps police catch offenders after assaults and robberies occur. I know from painful personal life changing experience.
Fermata della metro con una sola linea (T4 blu) che collega Bondi Junction a Sutherland (da qui poi vi sono 2 diramazioni in base all'orario). Martin Place è a pochi secondi di viaggio da Town Hall, la fermata nel centro città
Every year I use to visit Martin place during Christmas to see the huge Christmas tree. I really like the lights and the environment at night. Another best things is the small waterfall like fountain.
Close to everything in the city and less crowded than others in the area. Only one block way from Westfield Sydney. very close to shops restaurants and some language schools. Always tidy and clean.
The concourse and platforms at Martin Place are much wider than those found at Town Hall, making this a good alternate station for those travelling on the T4 and South Coast lines.
Great atmosphere in Martin place. Everything is conveniently located and once you know your way around, you can find your way places quickly underground!
Can't compare to the stations in most of the Asian countries such as Hong Kong or Thailand. Much cleaner and better design over there.
From 90's film The Matrix filming a scene here to the infamous Lindt Café incident occurring nearby. Martin Place is always busy.
Most famous place in CBD.... one must visit it.... although one can only see people going from one place to another....
The station is conveniently located in the centre of Sydney CBD and is easy accessible from one of the many entrances.
This is where the lindt cafe happened, and now it is home to the homeless tent city. Never a dull moment here!
The most convenient station. It's centrally located near many places and is clean and efficient.
The same station as many others in the city, it can get quite crowed in the pic time.
Ordinary old train station. No air conditioning. Crowded in afternoon peak hours.
A crowded but very efficient and well organized station. Absolutely world class.
Clean, well maintained station with easy access to the surrounding streets.
I have found opal recharging machine broken multiple times, please fix it!
Sitting here with very friendly people having a free feed. God bless
Good Samaritans were helping the less privileged. Commendable work.
Easily accessible with lots of restaurants around for a good lunch.
People sitting with their feet on the seats in all the trains.
Get off the station and some friends have cup of coffee
Difficult to get to while building works in progress
pretty good train station, not the best though
