This one star review is for Masjid ar-Rahma sponsoring the VisaEnterprise (Labayk Hajj) company. Labayk Hajj is not recommended because of its corrupt business practices. I was one of Labayk Hajj's customers at the 2023 hajj. It was problematic from the first day. There was almost NO guidance and there was much neglect and disorganization. Hajj is challenging by nature, but Labayk Hajj caused unnecessary extra problems. They did not have staff to help or guide. It appears to be a one-man company (Mr. Bashir Mustafa Bashir, the owner of Labyak Hajj) and you will be very fortunate if he replies to your text or phone calls during the hajj. It started on the first day. One group needed to do the umrah. The person who took the pilgrims for the umrah before the hajj was a volunteer on his own (not part of Labayk Hajj) and left before the umrah was completed, leaving one of the people doing the umrah to guide the others. But this is minor compared to what we experienced in Mina and Arafah. Labayk Hajj owner Mr. Bashir neglected to confirm tents before departing for Mina and Arafah. He had NO tents reserved for the 85 individuals in his group. Upon arrival in Mina, all 85 of us had to wait for over two hours on the bus because we had no tents to stay in for the next 3 days. The pilgrims did not know why they were waiting on the bus. We were very fortunate that one Imam negotiated with the workers (the cooking and cleaning staff) to give up their sleeping tents for us. During all this time, Mr. Bashir was nowhere to be found. It appears he knew there was a problem and decided to abandon us. On the day of Arafah (the most important day of the hajj), in 47 celsius heat, again there was no tent available for the male pilgrims, and Mr. Bashir had not confirmed the tent booking before the pilgrims departed Mina for Arafah. Twice we were told to go to other groups' tents but we were kicked out by the other organizers. It was 47 degrees celsius and we had to spend the whole Arafah day under the sun. Again, Mr. Bashir was nowhere to be found. At approximately 2 p.m. he showed up for about 15 minutes. All of us were upset and angry, and his answer was “This is not my problem. I am only a service provider.” and got into his car and left us. Some people were already ill and needed to be hospitalized in Saudi Arabia as a result. Also, there was no guidance for the women at the end of the day of Arafah for which bus to take to Muzdalifah. Only thanks to Allah did women bump into each other and go together to Muzdalifah. Women should not be left alone like that. Labayk Hajj failed to confirm hajj bookings, failed to provide adequate guidance, and wrongly forced the responsibility of logistics onto the pilgrims which took away their focus on ibadah (worship). May Allah (SWT) give us our right and accept our hajj.
As a Muslim, Masjid ar Rahman holds a special place in my heart. This mosque is a beacon of light and faith, where the presence of Allah is felt profoundly. The imams and scholars here guide us with wisdom and sincerity, enriching our understanding of Islam. The sense of brotherhood and sisterhood among the worshippers creates a loving and supportive community. The mosque's spiritual ambiance, combined with the heartfelt recitation of Quranic verses and the collective prayers, elevates one's soul. It's a place where I find strength in moments of difficulty and joy in moments of gratitude. The charitable initiatives and educational programs initiated by the mosque demonstrate their commitment to both the Muslim community and the wider society. I am immensely thankful for Masjid ar Rahman, where my faith is nurtured, my questions find answers, and my spirit finds peace. I wholeheartedly recommend this mosque to fellow Muslims seeking a deep and meaningful connection with their faith and community. May Allah bless the mosque and its congregants abundantly.
Disclaimer, the star rating here is not indicative of the the masajid it self but strictly it’s administration. The staff is friendly and very helpful given some of them are volunteers. The Masajid is well established with a dedicated parking lot and proper prayer areas for men and women. Additionally it is well maintained and clean as a masajid should be. My one issue here is the administrations stubborn refusal to have a 2nd Jummah. There is not enough parking to accommodate the population in one go. They rely on using external Parking from other businesses, these lots are often full unless you get there well in advance of the prayer/khutba. People often have to walk 15+ minutes and end up being late for the prayer or rushing out to get back to their jobs. The admins should take consideration that people may not have a high degree of flexibility and that a second Jummah is both a normal practice and often necessary one in large wester cities where Friday breaks are not common.
My 1 Star Review is for the Management of this Masjid. May Allah forgive me if this is wrong but the Management needs to be considerate during Jummah Prayer that people that are offering Jummah outside had no access to the speakers or any source where they could follow the Imam. I have never in my life seen such poor arrangement by the management where they had no volunteers outside the Masjid on a Jummah day. I offered Jummah there last week and there were over 50-60 people that offered Jummah outside based on total guess. I would request the management to re-consider thier management approach and the way of accommodating people with covid restrictions, Atleast offer disposable plastic matts/sheets to offer Salah on the ground/grass.
This mosque is a serene haven where you can find solace amidst its tranquil surroundings. The ambiance, filled with the soft echoes of prayers, creates a peaceful retreat for reflection. The architectural beauty of the mosque, with its intricate designs and calming colors, enhances the overall spiritual experience. The welcoming atmosphere encourages a sense of community and connection among worshippers. Whether you seek moments of contemplation or a gathering place for shared spiritual experiences, this mosque offers a truly enriching environment for the soul.
This the most organized Masjid ever. Programs for kids, kids play room, babysitting, awareness programs, very organized newsletters... You name it. Their annual bazars are always a success... a must see! Everything is so well organized, resources are used efficiently to provide vendors and visitors the best experience. Organizers have taken it to a professional level. This bazaar has the potential to be a big bazaar in town. May Allah bless those hands that work hard for this success.
Assalamu Alaikum, I had previously given this masjid a 1-star review and criticized the sheikh as I thought his English was weak. I have been coming every week to this masjid and I can tell that he is putting a lot of effort into the khutbahs and that his English is improving. The sheikh is also very kind and knowledgeable and he cares deeply about young Muslims and the community as a whole. May Allah SW reward this sheikh immensely and keep him steadfast always. Ameen.
ما شاء الله تبارك الله One of the greatest masjids in Canada and North America, you mist feel peace and pride when you visit and pay there. Masha Allah, everything here is taken care of. Lots of parking lots, very clean prayer halls and washrooms. Great Ottawa muslim community. Ramadan is so spiritual here especially taraweeh with Imam Ismail.
One of the best community masjid I have ever visited both in the states and Canada. I will give it to the board of Masjid Ar-Rahman, well maintained, very clean, enough washrooms and Wudu area, spacious praying room and easily accessible for both the elderly and children. The elevator present also. I will surely visit again when in Ottawa.
A clean, nice and spacious place. The people there ate friendly and welcoming. It organizes a lot of activities for children, youth and women. It is located on a nice neighbourhood that has a strong community. In special occasions, you need to come early or consider parking in the nearby plaza as the parking lot can easily be full.
Separate space for brothers and sisters. Covid screening, availability of hand sanitizers. All prayer timings are updated regularly on website. Online registration is mandatory to enter the mosque. If someone doesn't know how to register online, you can go on prayer time and someone from admin will help you register.
Beautiful, big, clean, and organized. There is even a child section full of toys that seems to be almost sound proof near the women's prayer room. The Masjid just feels very comfortable, warm and pleasing to the eyes. I also heard they prepared something for Ramadan (iftar) so that just seems very organized .
Mashallah, really nice masjid in Ottawa. Great place to pray and lot of community events. They do Quran classes for children and also classes to understand Quran for adults. They also host Summer camp for kids and lots of involvement from the committee. Please visit their website for more info - mymasjid.ca.
My most favorite Masjid in Ottawa, the nicest and most spacious MashaAllah, the Imam is amazing, and the facilities are great. Taraweeh and Tahajjud are amazing MashaAllah, They have an enormous activity space in the basement, and they do hold many activities and host many events and conferences.
It’s great place to pray but I see lots of problem for non Arabic speakers it’s like the Mesjid is only for Arabic speakers no one is happy to speak English specially if u want to engage ur kids to classes please fear Allah and serve every one equal it’s Mesjid no have have to feel excluded
It is so soul soothing to pray in this masjid. Imam has magnificent voice. Exceptional experience. If you want to listen Quran in beautiful recitation, go to this masjid during Fajr, Maghreb or Isha prayers. Too bad that live very far from this masjid otherwise I would go there daily.
MashaaAllah very specious masjid, great activities. Friendly masjid staffs and neat also. We should support places like this that make worshipping very convenience and is located in the heart of Ottawa close to many stores, eateries, airport and many other businesses you can think of.
This mosque does not mind taking money from women but does not help them. The imam ignores emails and calls for help from the MOST VULNERABLE in society. Total lack of integrity here. I will never donate another penny and I do not recommend attending here or getting married here.
We were visiting Ottawa from London, Ontario and prayed salat al jummaa here. It is a huge masjid, and was very systematic In letting people into the masjid. We registered ourselves online. You have to carry your own prayer mat. There was even a shahada today. Alhamdolilah
My favourite masjid in Ottawa. Shaykh Ismail is amazing as a human being and as an Islamic scholar. Brother Jalil is is always smiling. Kids loves to go there. Plenty of spaces in the basement where they can play. Lots of activities all over the year. It’s my home!
Amazing design the ceiling is really high making you feel comfortable inside. When parking is busy they have workers directing traffic which also helps. If parking is full do not park across the street as you are at risk of getting a ticket.
What a captivating scenery with the light coming through the large windows, rather than the high dome with manual crafts gives you the feeling of mercy. It is really the place I feel comfortable because of deep hidden spirituality.
A Massive, well organised and thoroughly maintained masjid. Great for Friday Jummuah gathering prayer with good seating capacity. The khutba is given in Arabic followed by English translation for those who don't know the language.
It is very very big mosque. It is beufull inside out. It is one of the best places to worship and meditate. To get food for the soul. Not food to eat lol. There are Islamic Halaqas. Free classes to join. I love tue place
AMA centre is great in bringing the community together through different youth and adult activities. A regular host of the #canadianbloodservices . AMA management and staff are friendly, helpful and very professional.
Mashallah excellent facility. Ample parking and very clean! Recently an Arabic Saturday school rented out basement for a one day Qur'an competition. It was an excellent space with tables and chairs available for use!
A very pleasant and inviting mosque. The ambience brings a calmness to the eyes and the soul. The sound system was excellent with clear and crisp sound. May Allah bless the society to keep supporting the mosque.
This mosque is my favorite mosque in Ottawa. The mosque and its surrounding parking lot are always spotless and well maintained year round. There are all kinds of facilities to make it a true community center.
Beautiful masjid. They need to work on the parking lot management as it is very difficult to get out after jummah. I recall waiting over an hour on one occasion trying to exit the parking lot with my vehicle.
Yesterday was freezing cold and windy day. I walked from the train station for Zuhar prayer. Unfortunately this was closed for Zuhar prayer. This would be great to keep it open for five times prayers.
everything is amazing except volunteers going through people while still are praying asking fir donation in such a noisy way which does bot comply with holiness of the place and Islam rules.
This is a large and nice . There is an ample floor for ladies, too. Aside from the five prayers, the mosque's community center offers regular activities for men, women and children. …
The largest mosque in Ottawa can host a couple of thousands of people at the same time. Beautiful recitation by the main Sheikh which will give you inner peace!
Very clean and spacious. Day care for kids on Friday and Saturday during Taraweeh prayer. Free meal on Friday and Saturday and Sunday. Washrooms are very clean.
Big mosque with floor for women. The parking is enough for Friday prayer but it takes time to get out of it. They organize useful events through the week.
Huge parking and huge indoor space to pray. Very well maintained facility.ramadan is very special. Kudos to all who finance and run the operations here.
Great Masjid and amazing facilities and programmes. Great place to pray and feel the peace. For everyone working there, Jazakum Allah-u Khairan.
The most beautiful, well managed and helpful Mosque in Ottawa! They should get an award for outstanding community service. Alhamdulilah …
Very clean, spacious, mashallah I am happy. Sisters go upstairs, can overlook the men’s section, can see the Imam clearly. Very nice people.
Most Beautiful mosque in Ottawa, very clean and organized. I hope they are working on having multiple entrance to the parking lot.
Asking God blessing our Masjid, staff and all sisters and brothers prayers. Very clean, and a lot of SAKINA once inside.
It's a beautiful and spacious mosque. Seems like the community is active with Arabic and Islamic classes being offered.
Ma Sha Allah! Beautiful and well organised mosque! Bravo to the managing team and kudos to Sheikh Ismail, the imam!
I like to pray in this mosque because it's a very peaceful environment and very clean including wadu and washroom.
Alhamdulillah. A good and comfortable place to do your prayers. Thank you to the community for having a good space
All of them are the houses of God, but the design of this mosque is beautiful and wonderful from the inside
Well maintained and most beautiful masjid in ottawa. Plenty of parking spaces. Wheel chair accessibility.
I love the beautiful voice and recitation of Sheikh Ismail during congregtion prayers. Mashallah!
Beautiful mosque , tend to fill up quickly on prayer days. Come early for spare parking spots.
