I have been this morning for a new school bag for my daughter and the shop was surprisingly very untidy, I’ve never known a shop like this to be so messy it was like a jumble sale on a market, it really was noticeable and I’ve never felt like that in a shop before it was strange, the floor was full of debris and litter, there is all sorts of stuff underneath every single shelf in the shop, stickers stuck all over the floor, and black marks like a bike track, McDonald’s cups on shelves, food wrappers on the floor, I even seen an odd sock full of dust on one isle and the arm off a mannequin it’s like It hasn’t been cleaned in months, it felt very uncomfortable so I’ve left and I’m heading over to Stockport.

The only positives in my opinion are that its a large store with lots of choice and the sales are great. However the queues are absolutely horrendous. I've shopped on weekdays, weekends, morning and evening and I still encounter the same problem every time I shop. The staff on the tills are very slow and there is always a long line of fed up customers waiting. Today was the final straw at 10am I had to queue for over 20 minutes to be served and there was only 2 people in front of me! Also there are no customer toilets.

I went to pick up a small parcel for my friend Sue she had ordered it on line and paid for it when I got there the tills where bizzy but at what I thought was customer service was not there was 3 staff looking bizzy talking to one another and when I told them who to talk to they told me to line up at the till and they would sort it out for me .. 15 mints then the girl at the till did sort it and the lady that I should of seen said hello. .. I just couldn't understand why the other lady's couldn't of delt with it

Great for shopping on a budget, but not happy the fitting rooms were closed! One of the main things a clothes shop should have always available are fitting rooms, if they are closed for refurbishment or something else it is not hard to erect a temporary area divided by curtains to use as a temporary measure.... especially in a store of this size! Fitting rooms help the customer choose outfits, however, they also reduce the level of product returns for the company.

29 June 22 - I attended the Matalan store in Openshaw Manchester to purchase two suitcases for a up coming holiday At the self serve till a problem arose I called over a member of staff called Sharon. She couldn’t be more helpful She was polite , understanding, knowledgable and very caring I know we should expect this but nowadays it’s very rare So just wanted to drop a line saying what a lovely member of staff she is representing your store Greg Howard

Went in one Sunday beepers went off when entering tried few items on sounded like hospital beeping as customers entered most of day my friend purchased one item as we exited beeper went off how embarrassing member of staff came rushing across security sat there like a dummy felt like a criminal she checked items no tag and beeped again as we went out so off putting sort it out you can't just search people how degrading

Good store. At times it's untidy but that is due to the lowest of low customers and their awful offspring. Why take stuff off the rails and just dump it??? Feel sorry for the staff because there is NO air conditioning on hot days. It's bad enough for the customer but we don't have to endure the heat and have the choice to leave. Head Office have failed to respond to my complaint. ..no stars for them !!

Me and my mum regularly shop at the Openshaw Matalan store. Everytime we visit the staff are always really nice, especially one young guy who is usually working on the tills or near the self service checkout.... (Tall with dark hair, think he said his name was Michael?) He is ALWAYS so helpful and deserves some recognition for his brilliant customer service. He is a credit to the store.

It is a clothes store and if you want to spend less that's the ideal place depending on taste. Surprisingly good quality. They do have shoes and boots but have never bought from there and so I can't comment. Ladies night wear and lingerie are very good for the price. Plenty of selection in childrens clothing. A good shopping experience, bargains to be had. Plenty of parking space.

Matalan is brilliant for worked as, I always purchase shirts ties and pants from here. Prices start at £7 for a short and it's very good quality which will last. I also buy shoes sick and holiday wear they have a great selection and prices are very good staff are friendly and will always help the home section is good with a large selection of homeward I highly recommend

The only good thing about this store recently is its big but you need to have a good couple of hours to riffle through the rails. It's like a jumble sale. The kids shoe section was an absolute state shoes everywhere none of the shoes matched the sizes on the hangers. Majority of them already looked worn and scuffed from being kicked around the floor

Great shopping place for clothes. They have a dedicated sales/discount section at the back for out of season clothes. Lots of bargains there but also have lots of high quality items available. They also offer Click and Collect at this store. In terms of access, wheelchair access is available and customer toilets are there too. Friendly staff!

I spent £133 self service didn't realise there was a tag on my nightware the security guard was at the front door must have heard the beep I did but thought it was someone else when I got home tag was on an outfit so have to go back to get it off security should do his job instead of talking to the assistant all the time

Great store very helpful staff and well stocked, sale bargins at the front of each dept so showing you what great offers lay ahead in these area's. Did not have to wait long at the checkouts due to a member of staff at the frontline helping customer's to the self service points.Well done guy's keep up the great work

Great shopping mall. Ranges from children to adults. I personally love it for a variety of boys clothes and stuffs. Lots of shops with more girls stuff than boys. But the Ashton Old Road store has lots of boys stuff and very good quality too. Prices are not over the top, very affordable. Would definitely recommend.

I recently went to Matalan I was just browsing but came across this nice blue blanket for £15 its sooo soft and a good size just fits on top of my double bed. I might buy another soon but a different colour they also had some other blankets some smaller and some bigger cushions and Christmas stuff about.

Been here a few times and always managed to get exactly what I was looking for. There clothes are excellent quality for the price. I returned a jumper to exchange it for a different size, no problem, quick and easy. I've only ever been in the evenings and the staff are very helpful, polite and friendly.

Been in today to exchange a few baby items, always good service and choice. But was exceptional service and assistance from the lovely Caitlin, I'd have been there for an hour otherwise! She helped me find all I needed within 15mins and done. Thank you Caitlin and the lovely folk at the checkout!

I like it here, but they need to put a click and collect counter in cos the queue today for the tills was massive and not very covid safe, so i left. I've edited my review because some clothing I've purchased is pretty poorly stitched (coming apart at the seams) and I feel that's not acceptable

Massive store with everything under one roof you can find something for anyone that suits them and you also have a sale shop so a section dedicated for just sale items for gents, ladies and kids something for the whole family and great bargains too, get yourself down here and spoil yourselves!

This store has gone right down hill it is an absolute mess, the kids clothing range is very limited compared to other stores and sizes aren't very well stocked. I wouldn't waste my time with this one again. Staff are sparse as always. There is a large free carpark

Changing rooms smell awful and the full was disgusting and need cleaning in the individual cubicle.When I mentioned it to one of the staff her reply was "I cleaned them yesterday " well obviously not properly as there was chunks of dust all.on the floor

Great store. Good quality clothes with a good choice. Regular sales on offer but be quick as the good stuff always sells out quick. Friendly staff. Tills can get quite busy. Plenty of free parking with parent and toddler and disabled spaces available.

Very untidy down to customers disrespecting the store clothes dumped on floor , staff trying to replenish with new stock , sorry but poor quality goods , only good side was the lady who sorted a new card for us as ours was very old , was delightful !

I enjoyed my experience at Mataln today I got all I needed being disabled it is difficult for me to go clothes shopping but it was very easy here and the staff were were brilliant nothing was to much trouble. I would recommend Mataln to anyone.

The store seems pretty busy, and the staff seem quite nice but there always seems to be a 10-15 minute queue when I want to by something. Not a problem if they have 6 tills all with staff on but they only usually have 2 staff or less on them.

Horrible experience, the rude, aggressive, arrogant security man challenged me for scanning two tops, leaving them behind and not purchasing them . Having studied Law , I responded is there a law that says customers must purchase everything

Even though there are signs in the store displaying guidelines for mask wearing, not many customers wearing one. All staff complying though... but surely there should be a staff member at the entrance to ensure that customers comply too..?

Shocking customer service ..... There in the wrong job if they can't raise a smile and give a good customer experience , . Every member of staff needs retraining in Customer service even the managers not setting a good example . Avoid

Got a good selection of clothing in for kids women and men. Fitting rooms and friendly helpful staff. Good free parking. Remember your pound for a trolley smaller baskets are available but i can never fit everything in a basket.

All good except that u can only get a refund voucher on sale items and not a cash refund. That is no good as it ties ur money down to shopping at Matalan only. I don't see why u can't have a cash refund if u have receipt.

one of the few stores that has a considerable size mens department a lot of stores are minimal in size when it comes to the mens section which is annoying... the checkout que can be rather large sometimes at this store..

Good selection of clothes and homewear one of the bigger stores in the manchester area. Staff is very helpfull on problem is the dont stock any of the pettie range dont know if this is company thing or that store only.

Every single time I buy clothes from here I get home and find that the security tags are still on !!! I’m sick to death of going all the way back to the shop to have tags removed because the staff are incompetent!!!

"DPD pickup at any till" says the sign behind the cashier who is telling me she can't do DPD pickups and I need to speak to one specific person who, of course, isn't there. This is after queuing for 5 minutes.

Not been to Matalan for a while but went today with my daughter fantastic sale and really nice clothing at reasonable prices the only problem there was no toilets don't know if anyone else has realised this.

Good selection of clothing although the baby boy section could do with a few more things also the queues to be served by a member of staff are poor need more staff on tills queues are horrendous

Good store. Plenty of clothes at very reasonable prices. The queue is sometimes a bit long but overall a very good shop. The fitting rooms are currently out of action due to social distancing.

This store is absolutely a joke the staff is very rude and the changing rooms are only open Saturday & Sunday what a joke like people are not gona try there clothes during the week.

Make sure you aware of your receipt, 50, 70% off, they have one price on the product label and another price and much expensive at the till, always the same excuse, a system error.

A little untidy, nice enough staff but shockingly SLOW queues for payment. As soon as someone picks up a parcel the staff disappear for ages. No additional till is opened …

Great to shop for clothes for your little ones and adults. I mostly prefer shopping for kids in Matalan. Staff needs better training it feels like they dont want to be there.

Surprised on prices thought they were supposed to be quite cheap, even sale items were expensive compared to other stores. Sorry Matalan but first impressions , disappointing

Looking for clothes for my grandaughter but everything we saw they didn't have her size. So in the whole an unsuccessful shopping trip. Not much in in the way of houses are.

Matalan was good the shopping was good. However, I feel the self checkout right at the time it was about tonclose on the sunday and asking the customer to do is outrageous

The clothes this year fantastic great value I hope they can stay open and they keep producing the same high quality the trousers I bought and the shirt both excellent value

Great store easy access for wheelchair users very helpful staff u can get clothes to pots and pans and towels to dvds and toys virtually anything u want under 1 roof

I was pretty impressed with the size of the mens department in this Matalan. Store is pretty huge, clean but in order to get the offers you'll need a Matalan card

I just luv this store. Amazing collection. You can always buy good stuff on cheap prices always have something on sale which I like most. Highly recommended

Good for kids stuff, good range available at low prices. Not so keen on the adults stuff and toys seemed to be priced up compared to other toy stores.

The staff was was helpful to find out were the items I wanted was. Great customer service, my only concern is the fact one been rushed at the till.

There was nothing that I wanted to buy I wanted something for a 2/3yr old but unfortunately there was nothing in that size so decided to come home

Not really that much choice given the size of the warehouse I expected a lot more clothes. I ended up buying scented candles at the checkout.
