I went to order 2x burgers and 2x wirra wirra wines (2x $10 deal when using topshelp app). I was going to be charged $71, when I questioned this I was told that 'oh its a mistake'. Then someone else came over...'she' meaning me questioned the price....so after some more calculations the price was $78....I questioned this again....the manager than came and one against (me' was questioning price....so he said ok it's going to be $67....I said that that's not correct....he says...what isn't? I said it's $25 each for 2 bergs and $10 for wine....so he then changes it t9 $60. All that took over 15 minutes of standing at bar and having to justify myself. Not ideal on a relaxing Friday night. There was no sorry....infact I think they were waiting for me to apologise....shame.

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the bar service here. When a bar person asks, "you right there"? It's not a good start. I believe they are under trained. May I help you? What drink would you like? Etc would be better. An excuse of a hearing aid is not an excuse for poor, sulky service. Now, the waiting staff are brilliant in their service and vocabulary. Manners and a willingness to help were fabulous. 10/10. To the beef curry. Shame. Two bits of meat and one lump of grisle does not make a meal. Vegetables were ok, but the meal (Massaman) was bland. Wine, over priced when it comes out of a tap. I'm not sure I'll return to find if there's an improvement.
I keep going back and hoping I will like it more. We have been a few times since moving to the Vale a few years ago and always found it lacking in comparison to other local pubs mainly around the vibe and the price of the food for what you get. I was pleased to see that the menu had been updated and we were happy with the food we had to today although $16 for 2 spring rolls…..My main gripe though is the wine pour. This was my pour today for $13. Worst I have received anywhere. I am not sure in what universe this is classed as a glass of wine! Exceptionally small pour which is disappointing. This was the same last time I came and I had forgotten how bad it was!
Great venue let down by Kitchen ,nearly an hours wait from ordering to our table Presentatio very average pile of lettuce with chunks od cucumber 2 PC's chopped tomato shoe string chips overcooked, schnitzel deep fryed and bery average,Mushroom sauce poured over meat and chips (now overcooked soggy chips).Too top our visit of charged for drinks we hadn't had. At lest removed from our bill. Good Venue and Attmspere but the Kitchen let it down Pity.

Absolutely delicious wine and food!! We had the nomad chicken, fish and chips (crumbed mullet),Massaman beef curry and the snapper special accompanied by a delightful McLaren Vale Shiraz and a fresh Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc!! We didn’t have enough room for dessert, but the dessert menu looks equally inviting. Lovely ambience for a weekday lunchtime, and the staff were extremely energetic and friendly. Shame we’re travelling as this place would easily become a ‘local’. If we get back to Adelaide this restaurant is hands-down a ‘do again’!!!!!!!!
Head chef, Glen Worral has done a great job of updating the menu to include a variety of choices and daily specials. Our lunch group of 7 each received tasty, flavourful combinations of meals which were beautifully presented. The waiting staff were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. A great setting, with the outdoor section being comfortably warm on a wet winter’s day.

Consistently delivering quality. That's the best way to describe it. We have bought friends, family, our kids or just ourselves to the hotel for both lunches and dinners. Every time the food has been tasty and good sized portions. The staff have always been friendly and helpful regardless of how busy it is. There is a great selection of tap beers, wines and spirits and the atmosphere is very inviting. Definitely happy to recommend to others and we will return more than once.

The food was fantastic, had the pork chop cutlet, served with a tasty tomato jus, broccoli and potatoes. Excellent serving. Then there was the lamb shoulder. So tender and tasty, again a good serve. Desserts were amazing. Left feeling content. Also the floor to ceiling windows overlooked a beautiful outdoor patio surrounded by gorgeous trees and garden giving a feeling of spaciousness and relaxation. Combined with staff that helped us to have an enjoyable lunch and McLaren Vale is a great get away location.
Was seating outside in the undercover area, with the plastic blinds down, had to beg them to turn the heaters off as people were visibly sweating, then they got turned back on again after half an hour and had to beg again for them to be turned off. i had the grilled mullet and chips, it was okay, nothing wrong with it, but unsure if it was worst the price point paid. Wait staff were very friendly though.

We’re staying in the area tried the pub for dinner, we weren’t overly hungry so ordered small meal, they certainly got that right, would have bee great for a 7 year old. Any I wouldn’t have minded but we both had calamari, it was the worst I’ve had for a long time it was pretty much like solid rubber and at $18.00 per plate was not cheap. We left and went to a supermarket to buy something edible to eat.

Well there’s a new kid in town and all I can say is wow! We’ve enjoyed the food at the McLaren Vale Hotel previously but it’s jumped to a whole new level of delight The service from the moment we walked through the door was also warm and welcoming. Particularly our host Coco whose knowledge of the new menu and welcoming ways really made our whole experience special. Congratulations to the whole team. Can’t wait to get back!

Went for a special 3 course "mothers day luncheon" and it was Beautiful. The selections available for each of the 3 courses were absolutely fantastic and not just your usual schnizel or steak dishes. A lot of thought had gone into each selection and they were delicious, good portions and delivered to the table in a timely matter. Thankyou for a lovely experience.

It's been beautifully done up inside which is a real improvement. We were a bit shocked by the prices tho. $26 for an average schnitzel (nothing special) and that was the cheapest main on the menu on the bar menu, $28 on the dining room menu. Not sure I'd hurry back purely just because of how expensive it has gotten to go to the pub but was nice to try again.

We had lunch at The Vale Hotel yesterday. We had a table in the dining room which has stunning views over the deck and garden. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The menu had lots of variety. Highly recommended are the croquettes, lamb roulade, and eye fillet. The sticky date pudding with salted caramel was delicious. The hotel is stunning with exposed bricks and muted decor, the service and food exemplary...it was a perfect day!
We were told that the McLaren Vale Hotel had now been renovated... well that's all good. However, arriving and getting seated, having the staff assist with the menu, and ordering meals and drinks was a little less than average. In the end the food was fine, but the service lacked. I guess if you want pub food, at a pub, what more can we expect?

Came back to get a the two selections of cheese again and I was quite disappointed. The serving of cheese, nuts and fruits compared to the first time was a crazy difference… where was the cheese? I saw 2 slithers… was a little pathetic. Definitely would not share this and probably won’t be returning. Consistency is key guys.

Went there on a Friday for lunch with a group of 13. Amazing wine list from primarily local wineries and reasonably priced too. My meal was a 300gm, Wagu rump done medium rare. Absolutely brilliant, cooked to perfection and tender as, came with broccolini, a tasty mash . A substantial meal in an semi outdoor dining area.

Haven't been to those pub for a few years, but I'm glad I went back. It's been upgraded since I was last there and the undercover outdoor area is just lovely. The food came out quickly, the meals were generous and fresh and the staff very attentive. Will definitely be revisiting.

Came here expecting pub grub. Didn’t get that. Got clever, thoughtful, “chefs” and delicious food able to be served in a fine dining environment. I did not expect the 20 something to have sommelier level knowledge. Attentive service, great food and local knowledge. No wonder the other restaurants in Main Street are closed. Can’t compete. Well done.

Got told to sit anywhere by one male staff member, then got pretty much questioned and spoke to like a 5 year old by one female staff member as there were two different areas depending on what menu we ordered from. Maybe the first staff member should’ve been a bit more clearer with what he meant…. Wouldn’t rush back in a hurry.

First rate pub. We were there on Boxing Day for lunch and had a really good experience. The fish n chips off the standard pub menu was ridiculously good and a bargain at the sub $20 price. The wine list is incredibly good value; you can actually afford to drink well here. Beautiful setting overlooking glorious grounds. Family friendly. An easy choice for a casual lunch.
Couldn't give higher praise. Food was excellent and staff really friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was warm and picturesque. One of the best places we have been to for lunch in a long time... Cheers!

The disable car parking is around the back and access to the dining room, if using a walker, or the like is via a small double door entry way into the pokies..I was informed that renovations are due soon to rectify access to the dining area. The food was very good, especially the Goolwa Cockle Pasta dish and the Cheesecake..
We had interstate visitors with us for lunch, the whole experience at the hotel was excellent. We all had steak and it was perfectly cooked, delicious! It was also our first visit, we will highly recommend others to dine with you

Unfortunately I arrived after the lunch time was over so there wasn't many menu options available. We went for the schnitzel but the experience was quite disappointing, a really bad taste on the panko (burned). The service was good despite the business been crowded the staff managed to fix a table for us.
Some great dishes on the menu. They have an excellent mix of quality pub classics, with some modern Australian gems. The specials are well worth looking for as this is where they show some real flare with their cooking. Service is super friendly and pricing very reasonable given the quality produce.
A very good menu at good prices. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a very large selection of drinks available on their drinks menu, a huge choice of drinks. A great place for a meal or a drink.

Would recommend walking in main entrance and not through the front bar, got heckled by some regulars on the way in. Once we got inside it was very unexpected, the dining room/ alfresco is stunning. Food was excellent, quite pricey but fine for the standard of food. Nice range of wines
We ordered the Pork Spring rolls as an Entree, A main of Free Range Pork Cutlet and the Coorong Grilled Mullet with chips and salad. The food was well cooked and flavourful. The staff we friendly and attentive. Overall it was a very delightful evening with great food. Thank you …
Excellent service, waitress attention, and food in a prompt and timely manner. Ignore those previous negative comments - new chef has brought new life to the Restaurant. We went on a busy Anzac Day, almost full of patrons but we were all most impressed. We will return.
Really good pub food. I had the beef parmigiana and it was amazing. They also have a decent selection of drinks, but not so many beers on the tap as the place is undergoing a renovation. There's plenty of wine options though. They also have live music on weekends.
Visiting from Victoria. My husband and I shared the duck and the lamb. Both were delicious and we could not pick a favourite. Service was good. Highly recommend.

Hi in town on our wedding anniversary had an amazing day visiting wineries & had our dinner unfortunately canceled at a restaurant due to a power outage . So decided to walk into town to the McLaren Vale .We had noticed the table was still
Thoroughly enjoyed our 500g rib eye steak - cooked to perfection. The duck fat potatoes and the veggies - Devine! We also had the 300g sirloin - another melt in your mouth moment. Staff on queue, altogether a delightful early lunch for tow.
The service staff were great, incredibly welcoming and friendly. The meals were decent, but steak was a bit on the cold side coming out and the red wine jus had been absorbed by the chips and salad. Sizes were okay for the price.
What a transformation and update this pub has had, incredible presentation when you come in from the visual perspective and a clever balance of the old structure exposed while brandishing such a warmth in its new fixtures.
Just had my Daughters Birthday lunch there. All the meals were beautiful, fantastic steaks . Very friendly, helpful Staff. Thankyou, we will definately come back again.

Great seafood!! A vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Great deck space, always something going on in the gardens!

Good food in a nicely renovated pub. It’s pretty large and definitely now more of a restaurant than pub. More
