The views were spectacular, the atmosphere was fine, the food was very average. We went for a family birthday dinner and figured a view back into the city would be a nice change. The sunset over the harbour bridge was spectacular and Me-Gal views did not disappoint. The cocktails (Tazzie devil, and Rose and Ella) were both very good. For appetisers we got watermelon and feta salad, burrata, and chips and dip. These were all considered medium dishes, but I’m not sure they would have filled a sparrow at breakfast. The chips and dip tasted great but the dip was a beet salad which was far too heavy for the wispy little cracker chips we got on top. The menu said the burrata could come gluten free but all that meant was we were served a cold ball of cheese with nothing to dip or eat it with. We ordered the lamb and the calamari as mains from the large dishes menu. The calamari was very nice but was more the size we had expected of the medium dishes. The lamb was huge and is designed for 2-3 people (although I think 4 could easily have shared). It was beautifully cooked but unfortunately had lemon juice and lemon myrtle all over the top, which was very tangy and did not balance in the dish. The side salad of mixed greens and pears was also nearly inedible due to the excessive lemon juice all over the fruit. The side of potatoes were great and well cooked but came with olive tapenade, which absolutely did not suit, and 2 of us bit into an olive pit. It felt like the dishes lacked a cohesive theme or flavour and did not balance throughout the meal. The restaurant is beautifully designed inside and the decor is fresh and looks sustainable. I was surprised at the number of very young children who screamed their way through dinner and changed the vibe of a place trying to market themselves as upscale dining (and priced as such). We had an enjoyable evening but will not return and would not list this as a must do experience in Sydney.

To say gluten free optional but then eliminate half of the dish is hardly catering to dietaries. The price didn’t change and I was surprised at the lack of substitution of items (Ie burrata came on its own with no alternate to the sourdough focaccia it was listed with). We added an extra side of gluten free bread but shouldn’t have had to request options for a dish that was listed as gfo.

Delightful Experience with Room for Improvement. I visited Me-Gal during the first week of December 2023 and had an overall enjoyable experience. The combination of delectable dishes and a breathtaking view made it a memorable visit. However, I would like to highlight a specific aspect that left room for improvement. The medium and large plates we ordered were delightful, showcasing the culinary skills of the kitchen. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the desserts. We opted for the Black Forest and Poire Caramel, but they failed to meet our expectations. The desserts lacked the expected finesse and flavor, hindering our overall satisfaction. Considering the fantastic quality of other dishes, it was disheartening that the desserts did not match up. I would recommend addressing this issue and refining the dessert offerings to elevate the dining experience. I look forward to revisiting Me-Gal once the menu undergoes changes, hoping for an improved dessert selection. With a few adjustments, this place has the potential to become a culinary gem.

Atmosphere and service was pretty good however the food was a massive letdown. We opted for the set menu however it lacked cohesion and there was no theme to the food. The starters seemed very summery with a melon plate, calamari, raw fish and vs pumpkin, smoked chicken mains. There were no dishes that were a standout or sadly that we would come back for. The restaurant feels like it’s going for a fine dining experience however just has not hit the mark with the cocktail list or the set menu. The best thing on the set menu was the $9 Sourdough. Given the restaurant is more up market we were suprised to see lots of tables with kids and screaming babies which changed the vibe of the night. The mousse/apple dessert was so offputting to me, it was just a giant bowl of cream and felt like it was 2kg of fat served in a bowl, there was no other texture to break it up. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone, would mainly suggest for the view/ambience, sadly it was a giant letdown.

What a hidden gem within the grounds of Taronga Zoo Sydney. Perks of having a friend / employee of Taronga, we dined as a pre-Christmas 'last lunch of the year' and what a beautiful memory. We decided to have the 'shared feast' ($90 per person) of sour dough with whipped wattle seed & ricotta butter (so moreish), ricotta stuffed zucchini flowers, macadamia and basil puree, tuna carpaccio with pickled muntries, seaweed potato paper, ponzu; squid ink tagliatelle, with Morton Bay bug, bisque, onion sprouts, pangrattato and free range chicken breast, black barley and Jerusalem artichokes. A side of seasonal leaves, pear, pecan nuts and aged balsamic. For dessert, Poire Caramel – poached pear, frangipane, crème patisserie, warm toffee sauce, vanilla ice cream. One of the best desserts I have ever had! Overlooking the Wildlife Retreat with distant views of Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, and the city skyline make for a very special place. The service and ambience was perfect. Great experience if you feel like spoiling yourself or family/friends for a special occasion.

Beautiful food, mostly amazing and attentive service and the most incredible views of Sydney! My only disappointment was the timing - our potatoes came out towards the end - but truth is that it was all so tasty so can overlook this. Little ones were well catered for, and dessert was off the charts. I was full but opted for the chocolate tart with pear and chantilly cream and I’m so glad I pushed myself that little further as it was very much worth it! So many beautiful bursts of flavour to finish our amazing meal.

Booked an earlier time to dine which was helpful with little ones, only issue bring that other children were wandering around which was disturbing for our table, but not the restaurant at fault for this.

The Me-Gal Restaurant is set up for fine dining at night and the hotel breakfast buffet in the morning. We enjoyed a dinner at Me-Gal. Food is expensive with only a 2 course or 3 course option available at $100 and $120 per person respectively. There was a large wine selection. I liked the pan seared scallops which were presented beautifully, but my steak had a fair bit of gristle. I think the cheese platter presentation needs a bit more thought as it did not match the elegance of the rest of the meal's plating. Having the kitchen area outside on the dining floor detracts from the fine dining atmosphere. During our meal we could hear the chef yelling for servers to come get food. And I know from working in hospitality that the chef was relatively quiet!

Loved everything about it. The view, the food, the service. Our slowcooked lamb was just amazing. Best I had for a very long time. For our friend that was gluten free we got so many options to choose from. Will definitely be back.

Amazing food and flavours. The view of Sydney is second to none and we had excellent service. Thank you Reese for making our dinner so memorable - perfect amount of fun and chat. We went with her recommendations of barramundi, chicken and compressed watermelon, and they were standouts. We will definitely be back again!

Best views in all of Sydney, mostly since you get to see all of Sydney Harbour. Fantastic views, you'll totally win date night with these. Food is a win, too! Really just a beautiful location with delicious food. Who would have believed a "zoo" (it's attached to it, not 100% in it) could have such a spectacular dining experience. More

This is a fine dining restaurant experience my husband and I enjoyed while staying at the wildlife retreat. The staff were very accommodating and quick to get our food out. With great harbor views and quality, local food, I would recommend giving it a try while staying at Taronga.

It's not only a dining experience but also a fantastic atmosphere created by a breathtaking view and relaxing music. Our waitress has been genuine and funny, and this has been the first time I left tips in Sydney. Prices are above average but it's worth it. More

Service was excellent, food was great and the view was stunning. Is it a bit pricey? Maybe but if the funds go towards supporting Taronga Zoo, it is worth it. Love that the menu uses local ingredients.
