had a little bit *too* much fun at karaoke at metro this past sunday evening. apparently they do it every thursday and sunday night, and overall, it was a good/chill bar and a good time. try their kool aid shot (be careful, they're dangerously delicious) and they also had this sunny d (yes the orange juice drink you may have had as a child) + vodka drink in a can that i was sipping on that night as well. P.S. -------- sorry for any drama i may have attempted to cause just before leaving the club - when my third song got skipped bc she "didn't have it" (even tho it was on the website that the DJ referred me to on her QR code sign thing), it was kind of annoying that i wasn't able to sing another song bc i was really feeling the vibe and having a good time prior...i don't go out or at least karaoke very much, so when i do, i like to go all out and sing as much as i can. i was disappointed to be skipped that early in the night when there weren't very many people, and then i was asked to wait through another whole round of singers before going again rather than her just allowing me to sing a different song next in the queue since my original pick was skipped. admittedly it doesn't take much for me to flip that switch when i've had a few and something goes wrong, so i'm sorry again...i do remember saying something to the bartender about the DJ, but wanted to follow up with this review to recommend the bar and clarify that i do hope to stop by again someday, just maybe after they get a different karaoke DJ. the one they had when i went there earlier this year was very chill and accepted tips to jump the line which made it easy to have a good time and not have to wait an hour to sing another song. sunday night was the most recent of 3/4 times i've done karaoke at metro over the years, and i had a great time all times except this one where i got a weird vibe from the DJ and decided to leave early.
Impression: A nice, laid-back gay bar with a "bar" feeling to it. Large wooden decor structures on the first floor with pool tables on the second floor. During the weekend the second floor turns into a dance floor and is predominantly lesbian. This is a fun place to go to meet new people in the community and to have a drink. You can literally sit at the bar, wear a friendly face, and someone will say hi. If you look sour, don't expect a lot of "hellos". Thursday is karaoke night, there is no telling what you will experience (both good and bad singers).... but it is definitely fun. Pros: Drinks are strong, service is relatively quick bartenders are nice. The food is bar food which isn't worth bragging about nor worth complaining about. If you want food, it works just fine. Sometimes friend food is all you need. It has two levels so if you get bored in one area, you can wander to another area. The have pool tables and darts on the second level. Audience is usually lively, eclectic, diverse, and fun. Cons: Sometimes its a bit noisy in a bad way. Like during karaoke sometimes you can talk to people across the table because someone is screeching into a microphone (on a Thursday evening) or everyone else is just incredibly loud. However, its usually not an issue. Drink prices are ok, but you can get same drinks for cheaper at other Mass Ave locations. This is not a specialty martini bar. Conclusion: Its a fun gay bar that is good for all types. Patrons are inclusive and the drinks are strong.... sometimes. I have a good time anytime I go and the night scene is almost always lively. If you are looking for a gay bar to hang out at, this is one of the locations you should consider. Great for: small groups, meeting friends out, drinking, dancing (on the weekend), karaoke on Thursdays, playing pool/darts, wanting to be out and in the community
This is a very nice bar/restaurant located in a decent area. However, whomever the weekday bar tender/server is provided my partner and I with horrible service. Visiting Metro for the first time, I expected to be treated like a first time customer but the bar tender seemed as if he could care less. I walked in with my partner and we weren't even greeted by the server/tender, instead he just looked blankly at us as if we weren't suppose to be there. No welcome, no smile, no hello, no have a seat, he hardly even acknowledged us as being paying customers. I've never been to a place where the worker was this non-hospitable. Honestly the vibe he gave off was as if we didn't belong there, which is very surprising since it is a gay establishment. Granted, my partner and I are younger and most of the guys in there at the time were older and seemed like regulars. But if they expect to get returning business aside from the regular trolls then they should really reconsider the type of service they provide. The food was not bad, but we didn't get exactly what we asked/paid for nor were we given forks or knapkins until I had to ask for them..this all goes back to service and for that reason I will not be going back nor suggestion anyone to this bar.
One of my favorite places in Indy. It's great as a bar, but the food is also absolutely phenomenal. The breaded buffalo cauliflower bites are a personal favorite, and I love that they're fried in a separate fryer away from the meat products! The bar on the first floor and the bartenders are great, karaoke is always fun, and the bathrooms are clean and gender inclusive. Upstairs, there is a dance floor with a live dj, it than can get VERY packed and sweaty but it's also always a great time. Out back, there is a large fenced-in in patio with abundant tables and chairs. Smoking is allowed out there, and servers run out there as well. I have never met an employee of the bar who wasn't helpful, friendly, accepting, on top of everything, and just all around excellent at their job. Whether you're looking to sit down for a meal, belly up to a bar for shots, hang out on a patio with friends, or get messy on the dance floor, Metro has it all :)

The big African American bouncer is so rude. I was having a bad hair day so I was wearing my hood. I had my head covered with my hood most of the night none of the staff told me to take it off. Out of nowhere this bouncer came to me and yelled at my face. When I politely asked why he said cuz I work here. I was curious because most of the people around me were wearing hoods and why was he only targeting me. If it was a safety issue he could’ve asked politely.I didn’t see a sign at the door about not wearing hoods and the guy who checked my Id at the door could’ve told me. But this guy was straight up jerk, I told him I’m leaving the club he still kept yelling and following me. I stopped downstairs at the bar to close my tab and he sent another guy after me. I was treated as if I was a criminal. I have never felt so discriminated in my life. After spending thousands of dollars at metro I will not be coming back. I will take my business where I won’t be harassed and treated like this.
I’ve always loved going to the metro but after my experience last night I will not be coming back!! I’m a bisexual woman and I usually go with a group of female friends. Last night I decided to take my boyfriend with me; he is straight. He had five drinks and was buzzed. I had four drinks and was nowhere near buzzed. We were not bothering anyone, just playing pool and watching the drag show upstairs. He then went down stairs to smoke a cigarette. When he came back up he informed me that the bouncer said he had to leave because he was “too intoxicated”. This seemed odd cause if that was the case why did the bartender not just cut him off? There were people there that was more intoxicated than him!!!! I have never felt so discriminated against by the LGBTQ community in my life!!!! It is my belief that they threw him out cause they saw us as a straight couple and it was making people uncomfortable. I’m very hurt and do not plan on coming back.
Metro's service quality has gone way down. The bar staff seems more into the latest gossip than serving customers. The George Michael looking person w silver jewelry was thee worst bartender I've ever had. I asked for a gin sunrise, they looked puzzled. Just switching tequila for gin. Still got tequila. We went back to this person to order food as the wait staff was not present/available. They said the wait staff just got in, around 6ish and they'd send them over. We waited 20 mins to allow time for the team member to get their direction for the night, no one came over. I went to the bar, back to the same silver jewelry long haired person to ask for the tab to leave. Sure, no prob. It was not busy, I'd been waited on by this person twice and they didn't remember that we requested a server. Ok. We left hungry and deeply unsatisfied.
Parking is a pain, but when you're in it's great. They have a full restaurant on the lower floor. gambling machines (If you're into that) and a smoke area that is huge! Upstairs they have a pool table (They close it off after 12 or so) a dance floor, and a bar there too with a dartboard room. They have a balcony that serves as a resting area (Smoke free) and a small shop there too selling a wide array of things that I swear is a pun on lgbt. I mean come on, skittles, blow pops? Everyone there is nice, my only issue is I think they assume I'm drunk a little more than I am due to the fact of my Australian Accent, but they're good about trying not to make sure you're too drunk to stand. This place also attracts all sorts of LGBT so no one should feel left out!
went here on a Friday night it was packed and fun UNTIL me and my friend went to the bar downstairs. the guy with the ponytail that was bartending ignored my friend for awhile, she tried to get his attention many times and he looked at her and rolled his eyes. I end up switching places with her trying to still order her a drink. he rolled his eyes at me as well and REFUSED to serve us for nooooo reason. Then we went upstairs to the said Manager Mickey to talk to her about the situation SHE LAUGHED IN OUR FACES and told us some days he has "bad days". I'm going to say it, he legit served every person with pale skin around us and kept skipping over us. it was weird. and how the situation got treated by Mickey tells me alot of how that bar is ran.
Extremely unprofessional - after multiple people made them aware of safety issues, s. harassment and concepts being stolen we were all ratted out as harassing and bullying. Staff has spoken up and also been sa here, improper bookings, djs did not get proper pay, staff has also spoken up about how lane displaced them from their home and fired them. When I spoke up 1/20+ ppl and the darkest person by skin tone and offered to create agreements, outlines and group conversations for anyone queer or who wants to find solutions I was ignored and then tagged ONLY alongside metro staff and was downtalked when it’s not even my brand.

The Doorman at Metro is ALWAYS belligerent and obnoxious with customers, customers who are just out for a good time and are not causing any trouble. Tonight he cussed out my wife, who was not drunk, and was not causing trouble. She had been stopped in the door by a guy who wanted to compliment her jacket. There was NO LINE, and NO ONE trying to get out, but this guy still yells at her, cursing at her. Every time we’ve been there I’ve had a problem with him. Seriously, Metro, when are you gonna get rid of this deusch?!
First time in the city of Indy, I had a overall good time. I went to several straight clubs and had a good time. Decided to come to Metro tho to feel a little more accepted. Not quite what happen tho, got turn around all because I had a paper ID. I wasn’t sure if the door man was just doing his job or just being a jerk. Due to the fact I use my paper ID every where else in the city, including a few upscale clubs, and casinos. At the end of the night Greg’s Indy, showed me a great night!
Metro use to be the pulse of the people. It’s under new management now who have instituted a cover and make folks wait out in the cold to give the appearance of a packed house. Metro used to be the place where Black and other marginalized people congregated, but those day are no more. Save yourself time and disappointment and go to Tini’s or Ivy. It’s the same building, but not the same place. So sad.
Price per person
$30–50
I love the different environments all within one building. You can sit downstairs at the bar to have a drink and conversation, but also the outdoor seating area. Then upstairs being a whole club. I love how welcoming this place is. Anyone and everyone is welcomed. I have met so many amazing people at this bar, and all have made nights wonderful. Even just kick chats and laughs. I will forever love this bar.
Ordered food server obviously hit the wrong button on my order, did NOT own up to her mistake instead blamed it on a menu in the back that wasn't correct, knew she was lying ask for a manager she then got the chief to play a manager and he was very rude even when fake apologizing for a lie, please take my advice DO NOT GO TO METRO, it's obviously not being managed appropriately, DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY HERE
My boyfriend opened a tab here and I paid the tab at the end after an hour of being there, which was $14. They took my boyfriends card and charged someone else’s tab on his card $78. it’s been over a week and they still haven’t gotten back to us. Now we’re going to have to open a dispute. 10/10 don’t recommend, unless you want them to freely steal from you.
The metro is a gay bar for straight Bachelorettes to show off all their gay friends. It's not only unrepresentive of Indiana's gay community but also has a poor reputation for being closed off to the community it claims to represent. If your looking for a fun bar that actually supports the gay community in indy, choose Tini's or Greg's instead
Absolutely awful service for the weekend before Pride! The bartender knew I was waiting and deliberately took anothers order in front of mine. Go upstairs and still met with attitude.. Forget it, I'll never go back! First and last time to this establishment! True shame as well, had planned to do drinks, dinner and tip nicely for the benefit.
This place is absolutely ridiculous!! Your bathroom has piss all over the seats and yet you check it every 30 minutes. No! On top of this my friend and I come from Illinois for a good night and we get cut off and we have had ZERO drinks?! So comical! This is why you can't be Chicago.
This is one of the best places to go and mingle. There is a music box upstairs and pool tables. Nice patio, and a very cool atmosphere! I went during a karaoke night and I had a blast. I definitely recommend this bar is you want to be a little more low key and chill.
Went to check this place out last Thursday. It was a fun scene. The patio was most impressive, very nice, large outdoor area with plenty of seating and TV’s. I don’t enjoy the drinks here that much though and some of the decor could get an update.
Had an amazing time here! The place was packed and the crowd was fun and inviting. Bar and restroom on both floors, dancing is upstairs, tables downstairs. Coatcheck for $2 and they have a cooler for people wanting to stay hydrated …
Been coming to metro for many years now, never have horrible service! It's a fantastic place with many different atmospheres! You can chill downstairs at the bar, upstairs in the club area or even outside on the patio! Thursday Karaoke is
Soberly, we were heckled and refused service by the bartender who had a complex that we might have been talking about her. Neat vibe, atrocious service, mediocre staff. Tini next door was a far better experience.
Overall not bad, but definitely not what I expected. I was lead to believe this was a place for everybody in the rainbow, but i felt like a real fish out of water there. The bartender was kind, though.
This has to do with karaoke ONLY....like the Metro, a lot...but, can't you guys get someone like TNT Karaoke to blast your karaoke nights I mean, c'mon....they are the best with the MOST songs, too
Fun place on Mass. In my experience there's never been a cover. They have a nice dance floor upstairs and are usually playing good music. Crowed seems diverse and the place has a welcoming atmosphere.
I always have a great time at Metro. Friendly staff. Dance floor area on the second floor is bumpin, literally shaking up and down a bit. Some might be worried by this but to me, we just party hard.
First "gay bar" I've ever been in where I get kicked out for taking off my shirt on a Saturday night. If you're attempting to be high class....you may try cleaning the bathrooms once a week.
Great space but DJ needs to leave a song on for more than 30 secs and changing the genre too much. Play out an entire song and stick with a genre for a period of time... ie EDM , HIpHop...
They’re extremely rude and they STEAL!!!!! Supposed to be a safe space for lgbtq+ but the manager with the ponytail thinks he’s god and will ban someone for not liking them personally.
Got denied for “being too drunk” when I showed up for my first time after work. Even the manager treated me like a child having other conversations while coming out to speak with me.
Always a tossup whether it will be a good time. Some nights are definitely better than others. I find I liked it better before the remodel and addition of dancing upstairs.
Excellent bartenders and drinks. The dance floor has a 5 gallon jug of water for there patrons. I don't know any bars that would considerate this let alone do it.

I celebrated my 21st Birthday there. Everyone was nice and respectful. Dj knows what he's doing and the drinks are super cheap. Lots of fun! Lots of Dancing!
Great ️ Indy Nightclub and Restaurant. No Fancy No excessive prices either. Neighborhood look/feel/mood. If that’s what you are after ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ …
More people dancing would b cool, no place to really dance, some staff are stuck up, and they cut me off after 2 drinks so you better get drunk first
Please ask before you search my pockets at the door. I understand the need but do not reach in without saying… No pepper spray, calm down.
Good food and nice inside but the server was clueless. First place I’ve ever eaten st where we had to pay BEFORE getting our food.
So much fun! Friendly and attentive staff. We also had the good luck of showing up for drag night. The girls can week it huny. ;)
Great place to hang out on the weekends. Very open and welcoming to all demographics. The staff is very friendly and organized.

Drinks were fair priced. The bartenders were fun! And the music kept things hype. I really enjoyed the outside seating.
Cool because it's free but the floor is always wet and slippery and it's alway to packed....better if you hang outside
Everyone here is super friendly, there are a variety of cocktails to choose from, and the dance floor is so much fun!
Great place to dance! Such a great place that it tends to get crowded fairly quickly. Fridays are the absolute best!
Affordable drinks and just a fun spot to go dancing! Always on my list of stops if I’m going down town at night.
Best bar in town! Great food and drinks, and the staff super charming! I definitely improved my time in Indy! ❤️
Nice for everyone, won't mention parking ! Lots of room and welcoming to us smokers I do enjoy myself. …
Such a fun atmosphere! Never waited too long for drinks, the music was so fun and everyone is super kind.
Great atmosphere and people. Great bartenders with reasonable drink prices. How could you go wrong.
Great atmosphere, safe, friendly patrons for a new comer from out of state, excellent bar tenders.
Patio on weekdays is pure chill. Dancing on Saturdays... crowded and hot inside, but fun-fun-fun
Even though this is a gay bar, it's a real good play to have a drink play some pool and poker
GreT place good food awesome drinks and you have got to try the old hamer house bourbon
Great place to go out! Very easy to find. You will most likely have to pay for parking.
Pretty cool place, wish there was a bit more space. Drinks are ok. Can get crowded.
Great neighborhood style bar. Food is actually pretty good. Friendly staff.
