TLDR; I went to this dentist for a long time and just had a series of terrible appointments and I’ll be finding a new dentist. I’ve been going to Mid-City Smiles for about 6 years and I’ve been happy with my service. It’s mostly been cleaning with one crown needing to be replaced about 5 years ago. All of that service was good. My recent experience has been truly awful. I lost a crown a few weeks ago and was left with a jagged piece of tooth sticking out of my gum. When I called to get an appointment the staff was dismissive and rude when I explained that I could not wait a full week for an appointment. Eventually, they found a time for me 3 business days after I called. At that appointment, I was given a temporary filling and told that I would need to come back to see a different dentist 10 days later. When I came back for that appointment, I waited for almost and hour to even go back to an exam room and then waited a while longer to be seen by Dr. Anderson. When I initially went back they clearly had no notes on why I was there and asked if I was seeking a second opinion. When I was eventually seen, Dr. Anderson did some work and informed me that if I had 45-60 minutes that they could make me a new crown and I could be totally done today. I agreed. I came to this appointment prepared for it to take 2 or 3 hours (fully charged kindle, iPad, and phone) and it’s been over 2 hours at this point. I sit for over 90 minutes before someone informs me that the machine making the crown has malfunctioned, but it was almost done. I wait for at least 30 more minutes and I am now the last patient in the building. I am starving because it’s been over 4 hours at this point and I have missed lunch. I’m in tears with hunger and frustration. Eventually the crown is done, but it doesn’t fit. Dr. Anderson decides to put it in with temporary cement and says I can come back in for a really quick appointment to get a permanent one. I don’t really have a choice so I agree to this. I leave, having spent 5 hours at the office with limited communication and lukewarm apologies for the situation. The crown comes out 3 hours later. I assume that being aware of the terrible appointment I’ve had, they’ll go out of their way to make sure my crown appointment is quick and smooth. I was wrong. I’m in the waiting room for 45 minutes. Once I get in an exam room Dr. Anderson asks me to bite on a cotton roll with the crown in place to get my gum line back down and avoid anesthesia. I’m left this way for over 20 minutes, and eventually choose to sit up sideways in my chair because I had been left with my head below my feet. Finally Dr. Anderson cements in my crown and I am, after 2 hours, the last patient to leave the building again. As the cherry on top, I’m told that it will cost more than I was quoted and that I should call my insurance to find out why. I think after the nightmare experience I had, they could at least take care of calling my insurance. Lots of people have a great experience at Mid-City Smiles but I am so done than even though I’m moving away later this year, I’ll be finding a new dentist for my last cleaning in town.

Okay, I will start by saying I have been a patient here for over 20 years. Dr. Anderson is a great Dentist. His staff however with the exception of a few. Boy, I have been disputing a bill for over what 2 years, and for that length of time I have been told by the RUDE front dest people like today that they did bill it correctly. I know THEY DID NOT. Well, she transfers me and tells the Office Manager I am upset and don't want to pay my bill. If I were that patient in over 20 years it would be known. She should be FIRED! Then as ALWAYS I get hey the ACCOUNTANT will call you back in about a week. For 2 YEARS I HAVE GOTTEN THAT RESPONSE. And I have gotten the repsonse THAT IT IS TAKEN CARE OF. NOT. I have paid my portion of the bill for sure. I ask for the DETAILED BILLING, so that I can contact the Ins. Company myself, But I have to wait for a call back as stated so that they can ONCE AGAIN check it to make sure it is correct ( A CALL BACK THAT SHE SAID CAN TAKE UP TO A WEEK ). 2 YEARS!. I must admit, everytime I go to office I do not see Dr. Anderson, I am seeing all these new Doctors and hygenist. I must say I am disappointed by it all. And the front office all I can say is WOWWWWW!!! So, again, I will wait a week for that phone call and we will continue on this journey.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting MidCity Smiles Family Dentistry and was fortunate enough to be seen by Dr. Caylin Frye. I had an unexpected issue with one of my crowns and needed it replaced as soon as possible. Thankfully, Dr. Frye was able to provide me with same day service and replace the crown in a timely and efficient manner. I was impressed by Dr. Frye's professionalism and expertise throughout the entire process. She took the time to explain the procedure to me and answer any questions I had, which helped to ease my anxiety about the procedure. Her friendly and compassionate demeanor made me feel comfortable and at ease during the appointment. The crown replacement itself was completed with precision and care. Dr. Frye worked diligently to ensure that the crown fit. I was pleasantly surprised by how natural it looked once it was in place. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the level of service provided by MidCity Smiles Family Dentistry and Dr. Caylin Frye. Her same day service for my crown replacement was truly a lifesaver and allowed me to get back to my normal routine without any delay. I highly recommend this dental practice and Dr. Frye to anyone in need of quality dental care.

I decided to switch to a dentist closer to home, and I'm glad I chose MidCity Smiles. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the dentist was very informative. There's ample parking, and a nice seating area to wait in, and they saw me just a few minutes after I arrived. Looking forward to the next cleaning! Update Aug 2023: I have been to this dentist 3+ times now, and I'm still very impressed. Last time I went, I basically walked through the door and into a hygienist's chair. Everyone is respectful and friendly. I was especially impressed with the dentist I saw this time (can't remember her name, sorry!). It felt like she made time for me and answered my questions but she wasn't pushy or wasting time. My only complaint about the practice is that I often feel like I'm being upsold by the hygienists - Do I want to replace my retainer? If I don't, my teeth might shift, and those braces were so expensive. (We have the same conversation every time...my teeth haven't moved in 15 years, I'm good.) Do I want botox for my jaw clenching? (I'd rather take a less invasive approach, thanks.) Changing that tactic would definitely make the comfortable visits even more comfortable.

I had always been impressed until recently. Their billing practices are questionable. Each time I checked out for my services or checked my daughter out for her services and asked for our bill I was told I did not owe anything. Then out of the blue the bill was $300 then next conversation it jumped to $900 and then $1200! I had no problem paying whatever I owed but they never could show me an itemized receipt of the bill. They billed insurance in network at times and out of network other times. In the end it turns out I only owed $200! Discovered during most recent visit they had it set up to bill my insurance for a service they did not complete on my daughter. I was told Dr. Anderson was going to speak with me. He was busy and I could not wait. I was told they would have him call me. He has not. All relationships come to a crossroads and I think it is time I find a new dentist. I also notice his staff does not represent his patient population. In today's societal climate, lack of diversity is extremely noticeable.

Best dentist I have ever been to! Staff is so professional and friendly. They are great about educating you on the treatments provided, and are gentle with procedures. The office is clean and bright, and they play relaxing music. The rooms all have big windows. They are always on time for appointments. In addition to my cleanings, I also got Invisalign through this office, and it's going so smoothly! I even recommended my partner who does not have dental insurance, and they work with him on a discounted plan for non-insured people. I can't say enough good about this office. Plus when we went to a Pelicans game recently, I was proud to see their posters everywhere, because they're the official dentist for the Pelicans. I was like, "Woo! That's my dentist!"

I’ve had many 5 star appointments here. Today, I would give it a 3 star. I was given a quote that wasn’t correct. My dentist was having conversations that were not about me with her assistant. The assistant left the room when my mouth had way too much water in it. They were speaking about meetings. Many times I looked up and the dentist still had their hand in my mouth but was still having conversations with with assistant not looking at my teeth. I wasn’t asked about anything during the treatment. Usually, I am asked if I’m okay. Close your mouth. At one point something touched my lip and it burned, I personally rubbed it off. I like my end result but my experience was very unprofessional.

I had a wonderful experience this week with Dr. Perla Hernandez and her magnificent team. An old gold crown had become detached and Dr. Hernandez was able to save the tooth by cleaning and stabilizing the crown base. Her use of mobile digital imaging technology allowed immediate fitting of a temporary crown in the first office visit, on a Monday, followed by the permanent crown delivery/installation on the second visit, on Friday of the same week! The fit is great, and thank you! The doctors and staff are always friendly, professional; and, this dental office has cutting-edge technologies for your comfort and effectiveness. I am a very satisfied patient.

I’d been looking for a good dentist in the city for years and I finally found it. My husband has a nagging toothache and we’d gone to two different dentists before finally coming to MidCity Smiles. They handled it easily and quickly. I went for a cleaning today for the first time and they were all so kind and patient. They answered all of my questions and I didn’t have any “insurance scaries” because they’d taken care of it all before I got there. Meghan is the one who cleaned my teeth and I hope she’s still there in December when I go back! If you needed a sign to go here, GO. Don’t go anywhere else.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr Kayla Macri today. I have extreme anxiety about needles in the mouth and skipped my last appt bc I was so afraid. But I don’t think I’ll be anxious about any future dental work thanks to this dentist. She was so gentle with the work and kept me calm and distracted the whole time. She matched my tooth color perfectly and it looks so seamless. Sam assisted and was also so kind and helpful. I did have issues with scheduling the appt but I just assume the receptionist was still in training. I highly recommend Dr Kayla Macri, especially if you’re an anxious patient.

Waited more than 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment to be seen. Another person in the waiting room had to leave because he had waited so long. Miscommunication on which tooth was supposed to be worked on. Was in the chair for well over 2 hours for one small filling. Most painful dentist experience in my 37 years as the dentist couldn’t find the right nerve for anesthetic :/ Its a shame because most ppl there are very nice and attentive but seems like they’re taking on too many clients at once leading to long wait times and miscommunication. I know they can do better!

The last 4 times I’ve been here it’s taken over an hour to get a cleaning done. With x rays, Even longer. The front desk staff in my most recent visit did not greet me, or speak to me until after 10 minutes of signing in. I arrive on time, wait at least 15 minutes to be seen, then wait 10-15 more minutes for the doctors to see me after the cleaning. This last time I was waiting so long to see the doc after the cleaning that I walked out before the doctor came. It should not take this long. I am going to find another dentist now

I’ve always had a pleasant visit. The staff is friendly and my Dentist, Dr Frye is the best. She is very gentle and not rough like some of the other dentists I’ve seen at other places. I’m satisfied with the service here. After several dentists that I have gone to in the past, I think I have found my forever dentist with Dr Frye, her assistants and Mid City. Thank you for your services and providing a kind and friendly atmosphere. A coworker recommended them and I’m glad I visited here. I highly recommend Mid City Smiles

This is absolutely the best dentist and staff I have ever gone to. The building is just beautiful and they have all the latest in new dental technology. The dentist and the staff are just incredible to work with. This is truly my dentist of choice and I recommend them to everyone. I had a teeth cleaning today (11-13-23) and the young lady whose name is Shannon did an incredible job. I was very impressed with the work done and one of the best dentist experiences I have had. Love mid city smiles :-)

Very professional and skilled, top to bottom. I can not recommend them more highly. Dr. Caylin Frye is so thorough and informative, she lets you know every step of the way what’s going on so there are no surprises. She’s very calming, as well. Bri, her assistant is so sweet, she remembers that I’m always cold, so she has the blanket ready for me when i get in the examination chair. The office is always so clean, and calming. The staff is also nice, from check in to check out.

This was my first visit to a dentist in way too many years. The work I need is extensive and I was not only nervous but embarrassed at the condition my teeth were in. From the moment I stepped through the doors I felt completely comfortable and cared for. Everyone was extremely pleasant and genuinely concerned about giving me the best care possible. I’m looking forward to working with Dr. Frye and the staff at Mid City Smiles. Can’t wait to be able to smile BIG again!

Quality not quantity. The practice has become so big that the patient is just a number. Very dissatisfied with the constant last minute cancellation of an appointment. Appointment being set months in advance, to see Dr Anderson. After the dental hygienist sees me, I’m informed that Dr Anderson is not in. Having a doctor from the practice, tell me that I’ll have to discuss my issue on my next visit with Dr Anderson. It’s all about the $$$$. Very disappointed.

I waited for 25 minutes for a routine appointment then they told me that the doctor had left for the day already so couldn’t give me an exam. Had they taken me at my appointment time she could have seen me. And the hygienist who did my cleaning was disorganized and inexperienced. I’ve been going here for 10 years and it used to be good but the service has been declining significantly lately and today was the worst yet so I’ll be seeking a new dentist.

We came in today for my 6 month check up. Everything was fine. The lady that took care of me was great. The only issue I had was there was no parking available. I went thru the parking lot twice and no one was leaving. I called the office to say that I was here but there was no place to park. The lady said she was sorry about parking but if I wasn’t in in 15 minutes, they would cancel my appointment. Finally found a place in front of building!

Dr. Perla and her team are outstanding! They are very accommodating and very professional. I've been to several dental clinic but Mid-City Smile is the only place where I felt like I was really taken care of, and it felt like visiting a friend. Dr. Perla and her team took care of me before, during and after my visits, making it certain that I am satisfied with the result. I am now more confident with a brighter, better smile!

Incredibly nice staff and doctors. My 2nd visit at their office and felt well attended to and efficiently cared for. Highly recommend Dr Hernandez, she made me very comfortable when I have had anxiety at the dentist in the past. Not here, superb visit. Next visit, I know will hurt, it’s extraction time 3rd visit - Extraction went as planned and Dr Anderson & his staff made me feel incredibly well taken care of.

I know it may seem to strange to be excited about a routine cleaning of your teeth, BUT the staff at Midcity Smiles makes me look forward to going to the dentist. I really appreciate that they assign a regular dental hygienist to their patients because they get to know you and it makes it easier to keep track of issues with your dental health. Every encounter I have had thus far have been very professional and very pleasant from the beginning, (Great telephone etiquette), to walking in the door (greetings from the front desk at check in) to the service being rendered by the assistants/Dentist) (Approximately 6yrs+ now ).The atmosphere is awesome. The care is phenomenal. Everyone I recommend, have a great experience as well. Highly recommended!!!

I can't imagine a dentist doing a better job than Dr Hernandez did, to repair a lost filling in one of my top, front teeth! Although the space left by the lost filling looked small to me, she filled it carefully in 3 parts. She was patient and attentive to the work. The result was a smooth filling, not at all noticable. The bite is perfect! Dr. Hernandez took care of the problem- beautifully!

I have been going to Mid-City Smiles at least 10 years, maybe 13. The thing that that stands out is the consistency. Every visit starts with a pleasant greeting, a very comprehensive session in which my dental needs of the day are taken care of quickly and efficiently and with a smile, which is jow Gabby conducted my Mar 7 cleaning. Looking forward to my next visiting July.

Dr. Hernandez is fantastic. She asks thoughtful questions, talks you through every step of the procedure, checks in regularly to make sure you are doing ok and concludes with making sure you know that you can follow up with her after your appointment with any questions or concerns. She makes getting fillings as easy as possible. I highly recommend her and MidCity Smiles.

Jazzfest 2023- my first time and I was eating toffee and enjoying music in the gospel tent when a crown fell out! I'm from out of town and a friend recommended this practice. It was a beautiful and clean facility convenient to where I was staying. The hygienist and dentist were both friendly and kind. My crown was put back in and I was back on my way to enjoy the music!

The office staff is always pleasant and helpful. Dr Frye was kind and polite. I’ve had trouble with a dentist before so I wasn’t sure how my visit would go. She was easy going and made me feel comfortable with the process. Her assistant Bree is always informative and very professional. She begins the appointment with a beautiful smile and a warm greeting. Great Job!

My dentist and dental hygienist were so welcoming and friendly. Very reassuring, especially those who are always nervous about the dentist. Update: Came back for my root canal. I was very anxious about the procedure but I felt NOTHING and didn’t even worry about not being sedated. The staff are really good at what they do. I’ll be back for a crown soon.

The entire team at Mid-City Smiles is awesome. The office is equipped with the latest and greatest dentistry technology. I called at 8am with a dental emergency, the wonderful staff fit me in at 9am and I was evaluated, had X-rays and my concerns were addressed with calmness and kindness and professionalism by Samantha ( tech) and Dr. Macri. Seriously Henry Ford would be proud of Mid-City dentistry I feel like I am on a conveyor belt of people getting their teeth done. One person is getting a tooth filled I'm getting a tooth implant another person is getting a tooth crown and they hop from one patient to the other with walkie talkies. It's crazy. I hope they're making a lot of money.

I can’t say enough about Dr. Pearla. She’s an absolute doll. She really took her time w/me. Every time I had anxiety w/process, every time I put my hand up she would stop working on my filing. Her staff is great. As Dr.Perla was working on me I felt the anxiety easing up!!! This was major for me!! I feel I can trust her!!! Thank you Dr.Pearla!!!!

I have full confidence in Dr. Frye (Green) and her Assistant. I recently had an upper tooth extracted bc of a cracked root (sounds painful) and I was anxious. However my worry was for nothing. It was a painless procedure. Dr. Frye (Green) and her Assistant are very professional and confident which they easily communicate to the patient.

I am being totally honest...one of the best experiences I had at a dentist office. I don't do regular dental ✅ ups and is in need of some extensive dental work but the technicians and the dentist was extremely kind and I felt no pressure. This was my 1st visit, but I'm glad I decided to give them a try. I do recommend mid city smiles.

The whole staff is friendly. They great you with a warm welcome soon as you walk into the door. The receptionist all of them have good energy.The doctors are very open to your needs always make you feel comfortable and they have patience with you I've never felt rush so far I'm very excited and pleased with everything

Dr. Anderson & the team were kind and gentle. I didn’t feel anything during my root canal (after local anesthesia) and the doctor communicated every step of the way. Very positive experience. A few days later I’m not in any pain, either. I really appreciate how they handled a procedure I was extremely anxious about!

I hate this place. They take way too long just to do a cleaning. I was sitting up in there for 2 whole hours just waiting for them to call my name, THEN they took 1 hour to do my cleaning. SO, in all I was up in that place for 3 hours. Do better people. I'm coming tomorrow, so your service better be good and fast.

Dr Kayla Macri, was very good, she help me a lot with my problem TMJ, I think more Insurance Companies should cover TMJ Disorder because I called several Doctors the are not covered by insurance companies. Dr with TMJ is about $800.00 and put down $100.00 for service ALL out of Pocket Charges, NO in network, TMJ.

I had a hard time finding a dentist in New Orleans. A colleague recommended MID City and it has been a great experience. Friendly staff, transparent prices, and the back office operations are run efficiently. It is your teeth, so you get what you pay for. Did I mention they play jazz? Wait times are hit variable.

I am very impressed with the results. The efficiency of the team was excellent. Thanks to Dr. Caylin Greene, she was very gentle with me and treated me delicately and explained every procedure she did with me. He was also very patient. Thank you for giving me back my smile. I 100% recommend MidCity Smiles.

Dr. Urbina and her staff were great! So happy to have found a dentist here in NOLA. The front desk staff were friendly and got me checked in quickly, the office is nice. I didn’t catch the X-ray tech’s name but she and the hygienist were professional and patient with me.

Saw me quickly, everyone was super friendly and understanding. Was expensive (had to seen without insurance), but with how quickly I was seen and the level of care I received, I have no regrets. Dr. Frye and her assistant (sorry I didn’t grab your name!) are amazing.

Dr Anderson and team went out of their way to, thoughtfully and patiently, help finish a procedure they didn’t start. Not many dentists would do that! The atmosphere is welcoming and the price I was quoted at the start, was the price I paid! I highly recommend them.

Just wonderful! This is such an upscale dental facility and the dentists are top notch. Dr. Urbina has an amazing bedside manner. She was attentive and thorough when addressing issues I was having with a faulty dental crown. I can’t wait to go back for my check-up!

I was scheduled an appointment for 9am but was not seen by the Dr. until 10:15. When asked what was taking so long, I was told we don’t open until 10. I asked why was I scheduled for 9, the receptionist’s response was I’m not sure why that happened…‼️ …

My appointment for my daughter was originally set for October, however I was contacted as promised, when something sooner becomes available. She was able to get a sooner appointment and her first experience was great and she definitely said she will return.

This was my first experience at Mid-City smiles and it was excellent. I have an extreme dental phobia, but Dr.Anderson and his assistant Rosi made me really comfortable and relaxed. I’m super excited to start my Invisalign journey with this office!!! 10/10

My experience at mid city smiles this morning was the greatest dentist appointment today. They took great care of me today. They made a nervous moment in my life feel so stress free. They have a great work environment seems like everyone loves being there.

Had a great initial visit which included a dental plan/consultation and teeth cleaning. Immediately scheduled 3 appointments, 1 of which was for my kiddo. The staff is very friendly, the offices are very clean. Bonus points for being in the neighborhood!

My family and I have been visiting them for more than 5 years and the truth is that they are the best in the city. The treatment with patients is excellent. For me, Dr. Anderson is the best of the best and the girls are very friendly.

Dr. Anderson has done an excellent job with my daughter’s braces. Her case was complicated, but you would never have known by the ease in which he corrected her teeth. He and his staff are great!
