I have taken my car to Midsun auto twice now for repairs.Let me start by saying I am 100 percent impressed by their friendliness and abilities,and I am hard to please. The first repair was a valve cover gasket,and tire rotation.They did a great job on the gasket.Thank you.I noticed after driving the car for a bit that it was pulling to the right.I couldn’t really blame Midsun as I wasn’t sure that they did something to cause this.I thought maybe I hit a pot hole as I didn’t really notice it until I had been driving it for a little while after my visit.I took my car to another shop that was offering a deal on alignments. I called the second shop (not Midsun) in the late afternoon to see the status of my car as I dropped it off in the morning.The technician told me he could not perform an alignment because my wheel bearing needed to be replaced ,and the bill would be $600.I’m not a mechanic,but what the deuce!!!-600 bucks for wheel bearings.I decided to take the car back to Midsun to get a second opinion. I talked to Kyle the day before to book it.Super friendly and confident-Love the enthusiasm.He informed me it could be from “radial pull”, due to uneven wear on the tires, but to bring it in so they could take a look. At around 9:30 in the morning,I was thinking about calling as I put my keys in there drop box,and I wanted to make sure they were aware of the car.I know people can get busy,and plus I was a little annoyed with the other shop taking so long to get back to me. Kyle called me about 5 minutes after I was thinking about calling him.He knew it was my car and had my phone number on file.They diagnosed my cars problem as a loose strut bolt and assured me that it just needed a torque and a wheel alignment.The price of the alignment was a little bit more than the first shop, but I was willing to pay this as it was tremendously cheaper than the load of dog Pooh the other guys were trying to sell me. I went to pick up my car that night,and Awesomeness!!!No more pull!!!There prices are super fair as I have no problem paying for expertise and professionalism.Thanks again to the guys at Midsun!!!

I am writing this from a perspective of a new customer. I have no connections not the year of built trust with this place, as we moved to the area recently and I was looking for new place. I must say, that they are the honest and well respected shop for a reason. I brought up my 13yr old vehicle that you can definitely find things to fix on, for a particular concern of a transfer case leak on a truck. I knew its going for long so it can be a concern, especially as the repair will be something you don't DIY at home, even the bolts are hard to get to. They looked at it, checked the fluids and cleaned it all up. I received a call and after some discussions they advised that they will just tighten the screws all around, clean it up and we keep an eye on it as levels are normal and fluids look good. They did advise how much would the gasket replacement be if I make a decision to do it and it aligned in ballpark to what I heard it could be. There are shops out there that would not only take on this several hundred dollar repair but add on top of it x-times more work for other stuff. But not Midsun. They addressed the issue and explained the condition as well as options so I can make informed decision. Very pleasantly surprised (rare case for other places if you're not at least a loyal customer). I definitely found a shop where I will take the vehicle for future work. Great job guys!

BEWARE of verbal guarantees. ASK where the parts are being sourced from for repairs. Are they are refurbished or new? ASK for your old parts back after repairs are done. $6830.00 is the amount I invested in my car last year through Midsun Auto. I trusted them to do the repairs on my struts, sway bars, spark plugs, alternator assembly, oxygen sensor, temperature gauge along with new tires. They replaced my temperature gauge twice. The first time they replaced it, my engine light came back on within two days. I was surprised to be told that THEY USED A REFURBISHED GAUGE. They assured me they were going to order a new gauge the second time for reinstall. Sixteen months later, my temperature gauge was the cause of my engine light coming on again. I had it replaced by an honest certified mechanic who gave me the old part. TEN YEARS is the average life expectancy of a temperature gauge. I took the gauge into Midsun Auto and asked for the manager to call me with an explanation. NO RETURN PHONE CALL. I was hard sold that doing all these repairs would GUARANTEE A MINIMUM OF THREE MORE MAINTENANCE FREE YEARS but told five plus years was probably a better estimate for my 2014 Dodge Journey. Sixteen months later, I’ve just spent money redoing Midsun Auto 2021 repairs. This is the end of this review and my trust in Midsun Auto.

Since our cars were no longer under warranty and with dealerships not even looking at what is truly needed but just going by the book, we were looking for an honest car mechanic. Friends of ours had used midsun for years and seemed pleased. First interaction was good but then early this year it was recommended to spend 3K o er two services within a month on one of our vehicles and more recently 2k on brake work on our other vehicle. This time I didn’t trust it so had it taken elsewhere and turns out that it was totally unnecessary and a 500$ repair later it was totally safe again. It actually makes me wonder if I spend all that money for nothing earlier this year and probably did… If you have money that you don’t need take your car to midsun. If not, just do yourself a favour and if they recommend a big repair go take it somewhere else for a second opinion.

I have gone here for odds and ends and I can honestly say that these guys run a clean, honest, and hardworking shop. I do most of my repairs and maintenance myself but will go here when I can’t do something myself because I lack the knowledge or the tools or I don’t have time. I went in the first few times not letting on that I knew a tiny bit about cars and they never tried to rip me off or scam me. There was even a job I misdiagnosed as being something much more expensive than what it was. I went in saying “hey I think it’s x” and after they did their investigation they gave me a call back and said “hey it’s actually y and it’s much cheaper than fixing x”. After that event they have earned my trust and business for as long as they’re open. They’ve also been great on rush repairs. It can be tough to find a good shop but these guys are legit.

I contacted Midsun Auto to get a wheel alignment on my project car as I had changed the entire rear suspension and my front wheels were also well out of spec. When I called somebody picked up the phone right away and got me an appointment just a few days later. The night before I had to bring the car in I discovered a couple of small issues, so I was a bit concerned that I hadn't quite wrapped everything up before going in for the alignment. When I got to Midsun the lady at the customer service desk made sure she noted the additional issues I mentioned. The mechanics took care of everything same day as promised. The alignment was done perfectly, everything was 100% spot on. As a car enthusiast who does quite a bit of wrenching on my cars, I truly appreciate the friendly service and how well this shop looked after my car. Thank you!

My car had not been serviced in a long time. A friend recommended Mid Sun. We needed a drive chain replacement – which is a pretty big job. We found the quote very reasonable. While doing the work, they found my coolant pump was leaking and replaced it without further labor charge because my engine was taken apart already. They also found a stripped bearing issue with my alternator, they noticed the alternator was pretty much brand new, they advised us to check if it’s still under warranty with the shop who put it in (which it was). I am very pleased with the care and attention Mid Sun provided. I feel like I was saved from a lot of future stress, as well as time and money. I would absolutely return in the future for my car needs. Thank you to Kyle and Spencer for doing such a great job!

They don't really need another good review. It doest really matter anyway I want to give them 10 stars but 5 is most I can give them. I took my buick to these guys, it would not start at all. We thought it might be the timming chain. They got it in faster then they said they would and called me promptly with what they found. They has to tear the motor apart to diagnose what was wrong. It turned out to be the timming chain and it would cost more to fix then the vehicle was worth. I cringed and asked what the damage would be. They said nothing I said why and he said I'm not going to charge you money to tell you your vehicle is done . Wow so I would never hesitate bringing any work to them. Thankyou I said I hope karma comes around full circle times ten for those boys.

I had probably the best experience I have ever encountered with Midsun Automotive today. I was fortunate enough to have mentioned to my Son that I had a tire that had a slow leak that had developed into a major leak. He suggested we go into Midsun and he said they would look after it. To my surprise and delight Kyle and Jordan made my day. They managed to get my vehicle in right away and unlike other tire shops or repair shops they did not try and upsell me or suggest I needed new tires. My flat was fixed in record time and I was on my way. I would suggest to anyone in the Southend of Calgary you try this location out. They were great and it was nice to be able to get in and out with no problem. A very pleasant experience to be sure. Be sure to check them out.

Extremely professional! I've had alot of other shops try to upsell me but Midsun auto has always been super up front and told me what needs to be done and what I can expect to do in the future never trying to up sell me. Not knowing anything about cars, Joe and Kyle have been able to put it in laymen's terms so I can understand exactly what the work is they are doing and why it was an issue in the first place. I have gotten quotes from Midsun and called around to see if anyone can beat and Midsun has always been the cheapest. I have sent lots of friends, family and colleagues to Midsun and they have all gotten the same stress free, easy, top tier service I have recieved as well. Couldn't recommend this shop enough!

I saw the good reviews on Google and I decided to give this place a try. I was having problems with my engine oil indicator jumping and I told the front desk clerk that the indicator might be broken. $120 later, they simply added another litre of oil to my engine and told me that the problem with my car is so bad that I should get rid of it. On my drive home, the low engine oil light came up again... Right after they "topped it up". When I called back they gave me a barrage of possibilities of what the problem might be, and I thought the inspection was supposed to tell me what was wrong with my car. I went back to my normal mechanic and it turns out that my engine was OVERFILLED with over 1 litre of oil.

Another 5 star rating for Midsun! Seriously I am very happy with the service I had received last week. I needed a couple parts replaced and was worried I wouldn’t be able to afford it. It wasn’t an expensive repair to begin with but I’m just that broke haha. Anyway, Kyle understood my situation and that I still need a healthy car and worked with me to get the job done with how much I could afford. Lots of places probably just wouldn’t care enough to try and bring the cost down like he did and it made all the difference to me. Great, fast, and affordable work. Clutch is nice and tight again!... And who doesn’t love a tight clutch, right? Thanks guys! I’ll be back next time I need maintenance for sure!

I was referred by two friends who have been to MidSun Auto and received outstanding service by everyone who worked there. I went in to have a power steering leak repaired and was not only given a fair quote but additionally given a call that same day advising me that the repair could be done at an earlier date than previously arranged. Circumstances arose that had me return to the auto shop to retrieve my vehicle once parked and as a result I was given a ride back home by the owner (which in my eyes is going above and beyond what is required by a business). This is my first experience at an auto shop in Calgary that provided a straight business, “no fluff” approach and I appreciated that. Cheers!

Had my SUV inspected by my daughter 6 months ago for the insurance company - passed no problem. Had to reinspect for my son to get insurance on it and took it to Midsun Automotive because the old owners gave me great service and prices. Don't know who runs it now but they claimed in order to pass for the insurance it needed: front & rear suspension, Brake Pads & Rotors, Oil Change, Serpentine Belt & Tensioner, New Brake & Transmission fluid. Over $4000.00 to pass inspection. Took it back to the original garage that my daughter had taken it to and it passed no problem $130 for the inspection. I have both vehicle reports on file. Is this a Vehicle Inspection rip off?

Kyle and the boys here are amazing. So good. They diagnosed my issue and found a few more. They wanted to be sure when I got it back, it worked great and it did. I can honestly say they are honest and they won't gauge you if you don't need the work done. I have finally found my forever mechanic. Thank you midsummer for going above and beyond. You are not a number to this company , you are a person and they treat you like a friend more than a customer. You are making a mistake if you do not come here. If you want okay service go anywhere but if you want honest opinions, you have to call midsun automotive. I would give them 10 if I could.

We are fortunate to have trusted Midsun to complete $1600 worth of repairs on our Hyundai Santa Fe. The job done was completed promptly and at a reasonable price. What impressed me most was the efficient and deliberate communication surrounding what was needed, how to do it, and how much it would cost. To me, that demonstrates competence and expertise. There was no attempt at upselling for unnecessary extras, they simply fixed what was needed and sent us on our way while expressing sincere gratitude for us having selected them. Nice! These guys know their stuff. They not only diagnose and address the concerns of the customer, they go the extra distance to identify and cost out future proactive or remedial repairs...advising on the timeline, priority, and cost effectiveness of what and when to perform these maintenance visits. They respect the constraints of the customer's budget and keep in constant communication during the repairs...no surprises, nor do they perform any unauthorized work without getting (verbal or written) sign-off from the customer. Bottom Line, we keep coming back to them for all our work.

I took my car to another shop last summer to have the A/C recharged and was told I had to replace the air condense for $900. Held off a year and decided to call around for quotes after experiencing this oddly hot summer. Midsun Auto gave me quite a lower quote so decided to take it in. Instead of just replacing the air condenser, he called me and suggested I try a recharge first (for only $125). Well, 2 weeks later and I still have air conditioning! What a life saver, and a cost-saver. I will be taking my vehicle here for all maintenance from now on, super appreciative.

I have been taking my car to Midsun Auto since I was a teenager. I will never take my car anywhere else. They provide high quality service at a reasonable price and are very honest. The quotes we receive from them have always been spot on. They don't suggest unnecessary repairs like other places. They are very straight forward about what actually needs to be repaired now and what can wait. They have always taken the time to explain all of the repairs to me. Also I cannot say enough about how thorough their pre purchase inspections are. They are great.

We have been taking vehicles to Phil and Ron at Midsun for over 10 years and put up with the person at the front desk because everyone else there treated us like family. They've saved me a ton of grief by finding issues before they became problems and NEVER did any work that wasn't necessary. I was back this week and happy to say they have had a staffing change - the rude, unprofessional fellow is no longer working there - and the service at the front counter is just as wonderful as it is in the shop. I’D TRUST THEM WITH MY LIFE. They’re honest mechanics who genuinely care. They aren’t trying to rip you off and they fix only what needs to be fixed. I was told by a dealership that my breaks were down to 40%, and that was a year ago…so I figured my breaks needed changing (they started to squeal) but was told they’re in great condition with 80-90% left. Many thanks to midsun for not taking advantage of me. Another bonus I like to think about is what a waste changing my breaks would have been and how that negatively impacts the environment.

Shop is Top Notch! I initially called to compare prices with another shop. My partner has recommended Midsun many times. I was surprised to learn that they don't charge an arm and a leg for the services I needed done. Fuel filter and oil change, furthermore they include the cost of the oil filter (there may be some exceptions to this) in the price of an oil change. The staff are real and they shoot straight. Fair, trustworthy and hard working. PSA: book in early, they are popular because they are solid!

The only place that could squeezed me in without an appointment for a quick repair. Woke up in the morning and my tire was flat and needed the car ASAP for work. Went and call to 4 different spots at 7:30 am and they told me I had to leave the car for the day and will be ready by 6pm. Midsun Automotive knew that fixing a flat tire would not take longer than 20 mins and they promptly assisted me. Kudos to them and the guy that helped me fix my tire. Will definitely come back again in the future.

I can not say enough good things about this place. Every time I make an appointment, Kyle throws me an estimate on the price. He tells me all the details before I drop off my keys. Everytime the final price has been within $10 ofy original quote/estimate. What an honest garage man, you don't find honest shops anymore, this place is the best. And if it doesn't need to be fixed they will tell you before you spend a bunch of money on unnecessary repairs. 10/10 fully recommend.

I recently went here and recently got an engine diagnosis. Even after getting the diagnosis and telling them that I was taking it to another shop to get it looked at they totally understood my decision and respected my choice. They were super helpful in leading me in true right way with a shop that might know a little more and I have lots of respect for th after this. Highly recommend them for future appointments and super happy with what happened and how it was handled.

I have dealt with Midsun Automotive for several years after being referred to them by a friend. Since then, they have worked on my vehicles, my sons' and my wife's, all to our complete satisfaction. I am never upsold or pressured to have work completed that isn't necessary, they put themselves in the customer's position and work on your car as if it was their own. I’ve never had to deal with a car that wouldn’t start so this whole thing was so new to me. My dad recommended this shop and I’m so glad I listened. Kyle at midsun auto was incredible. Very polite, respectful, and kind. They’re very good at what they do at a good price. They were able to get my car back to me in 24 hours and took the time to walk me through what happened and how to avoid it. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HERE.

I have been taking my vehicles to Midsun for the last 30 years! They are a great group of guys that provide quality and honest service. They have always been very accommodating working with my work schedule as I frequently work out of town. After reading so many AMAZING reviews, I figured it would live up to at least one of them.. Nope. Terrible experience, terrible staff, they were so blatantly rude. Overcharge you for everything, and then get mad when you question anything. I left in tears because of the old man’s anger issues. The ONLY good thing I can say is that the front desk lady was kind, ISH ...

Unfortunately, these guys charged me $157 to look at my power steering. I figured there was a leak. I dropped it off at 8, and by 9 an hour later they said it would be $2000 to fix 4 hoses. Less than an hours worth of work and they rolled down the window. They couldn't roll it up, so they wanted to charge me another $700 on top of that. Not a great experience.

Another job well done. I called MidSun end-of-day with a truck issue. They asked me to get it towed over, and they would look at first thing in the morning. Kyle gave me a call in the a.m with the low-down on my issue, and gave me a few options to choose from. I had my truck back within 24 hours!! HONEST Mechanics right here Calgarians! Look no further. The guy I talked to on the phone was super knowledgeable and they got so much work done in only 2 days for a reasonable price. I’ve brought 2 of my cars to them over the years and I’d go back to them again. I never leave reviews either so that’s how good they are.

Truck is running like a charm! The guy who answered the phone was knowledgeable and quick to answer all our questions. He fit us into the schedule and we dropped the vehicle off the night before and picked it up the day after. Everything was seamless!

Had an 11 am appointment for oil change, showed up 10 mins early and my car was in the shop quickly. Service performed and I was on my way in 25 minutes. Great service, on time and way cheaper than dealer. Very satisfied every time I visit.

We have used this place twice and had great service both times. My daughter was quoted $1000 for a repair at a Ford dealership this company did the same repair for about $400. I highly recommend them and will use them from now on.

Brought them a flat tire from a riding lawn mower. They had it fixed 5 minutes later. Kal Tire and Canadian Tire were not able to fix the tire. Glad I tried Midsun Auto. Super friendly and super fast service. Will be back!

Very good mechanic shop the only downside is the fact that they are super busy all the time and I have to make an appointment usually a week or two in advance which sometimes doesn't work out due to working out of town.

I just called in and told them I had an error code on my VW Passat, and they were amazing and helped me out right away and got me back on the road. Will definitely be going there again for my future mechanical needs.

Overfilled my oil AND caused an oil leak. Now have an oil stain in my garage. Very likely likely broke a part and lied about it. Lied abkut numerous other things Avoid. They used to be great.
