I have gone to Mint for several years but I have been disappointed by them on multiple occasions. I had my first filling, with Mint at the age of 42. When Dr. McMillan started the work, I was given some TV to watch while they worked. I was unfortunately able to hear he and his assistant's tacky discussion about the actor on the show I was watching, mostly focusing on her looks and other women as well. With people working on your mouth and drugs in your veins, it's hard to say, "Hold Up", I don't want to hear this conversation". So feeling pretty repulsed when I Ieft with my new fillings. A few weeks go by and the filling is not aligning and it's very uncomfortable. Yes, it was my first filling so I was not sure if it was normal, but they said to come back if I was still feeling uncomfortable. I did, and was greeted with a "yeah, it all looks alright, but I'll sand it down a bit more." Still months later, it was still uncomfortable, went in for my 6 months and got a bit more of a denial of it being an issue. A year after that I returned and saw the other Dr. who was quite pleasant, he said "oh, that filling doesn't look right, it's pulling away. It needs to be replaced." I had been right all along!I had him replace it and it was fine after that. That doc is no longer there, and I refuse to go to McMillan for all of those reasons. Also, my husband was told he needed a filling and when the day came for the work, after he received the novacane, the assistant said, " Oh, you really don't need this right now, but you might as well do it anyways. " Yeah. Not going back.

I went to Mint Dental in 2019 and 2020 because it was close by to my apartment. I got a new job in 2021, and I got better insurance (a premier plan). Mint Dental said they would take the insurance, but would charge me at the regular plan price which was more expensive, so I found a new dentist since I had to cavities done on my teeth, and the premier coverage was cheaper. At the end of 2021, I still had cleanings available in my plan, but my current dentist didn’t have any openings. I called Mint Dental and let them know I got a new dentist that covered the premier, but was wanted to come in just for a cleaning since it was the end of the year, and I wanted to use it up. They confirmed that wouldn’t be a problem and there would be no copayment, since it would just be for a cleaning. After my appointment, they charged my insurance for a comprehensive exam in addition to the cleaning, which my insurance didn’t cover, and they clearly did without my consent or knowledge. Now they are trying to get me to pay for the cost of the exam, even though I clearly only came in for a cleaning. I’ve spoken to Jamie multiple times over email and phone, and she clearly doesn’t understand and doesn’t listen. BEWARE!!! They will lie, and try to charge you for extras without your consent or knowledge. I’ve been to a lot of dentists and have paid a ton for my teeth over the years, and this is by far the WORST and most unethical place I’ve been to.

Loved the dental hygienist and staff past the door. But be warned that unlike other dental admin offices, they don’t schedule appointments based on what your insurance covers and their charges are only estimates that are not pre-authorized by your insurance. You must ASK THEM to get pre-authorization BEFORE your appointment or else you may end up with costly charges weeks/months after - on top of what you already paid. I learned this the hard way. They scheduled a dental cleaning without telling me it wouldn’t be covered by insurance and only informed me of that fact after it was too late to cancel without paying a $50 fee. Their office staff made me feel like an idiot for not knowing all of this b/c they said it’s listed on the endless paperwork you fill out at check in/out. I take some accountability but boy, it’s the first time I’ve ever had this experience with a dentist office. Also wasn’t a fan of the $10 protective equipment fee they charged during COVID per appointment. Time for a new dentist with more empathetic, less self-righteous office staff…

Horrible Experience!!! This place is terrible now, I’ve been coming here for years and have always seen the same people going out of their way to be nice to me and neverminded paying way more than other places that took my insurance, it was worth it to feel like they cared about me. This was my last appointment at Mint, I am done with feeling bad. The staff is a revolving door of people and nobody cares in this place except how much money I have and whether they can upsell me on things. I still like the lady who cleans my teeth, but it’s just not worth feeling bad on the way out the door. I have seen a bunch of different dentists there and his last one didn’t even look at me and didn’t even remember I have seen him before. The yoga dentist was nice but I heard he’s gone to. The last straw was the prissy, cold check out lady who had no time for me and made me feel horrible and then coughing in my face. She didn’t care if I had questions, she just wanted me to pay and leave. This place is NOT friendly anymore and not worth my time and extra money.

I have been searching for a new dentist for over a year and had a bad experience with someone else before finding Mint. Everything about my experience was the BEST! From the dental assistant Krista to the check-out process and billing review with Scarlett, although I am not sure if I spelled her name right and I was surprised that she is not on the website staff page. Also, the wonderful hygienist is not on the page either. I think her name was Veronica? All of the staff including of course Dr. Macmillan were competent, calm, caring and generous with their time with me. I have quite a bit of anxiety with dentists and this team put me at ease. They made me feel welcome and let me ask my questions without making me feel rushed. Other dentists have not done this. I have not had any work done yet, just an exam and evaluation, but I can say, without a doubt, that I fell confident and relaxed about moving forward with Mint!

If you are rich and/or have excellent dental insurance, this is the place for you. I enjoyed coming here when I had great dental insurance, but once I left that job, I didn't have dental anymore and two years passed. I just got a $250 dental FSA from my employer and called to make sure Mint would accept it and that it would cover a cleaning. Yes, they said, a cleaning/xrays would be $241. Perfect! Then when I came in, they did x-rays and kind of gave me a guilt trip about how bad my teeth were (since I hadn't had a cleaning recently) and said a deep clean would actually be more than $900. Um seriously?!?! No thanks. I don't need their fancy LEED-certified building and Netflix and neck pillows. I'll find a cheaper cleaning somewhere else!

Love this place! I just had a cleaning and a checkup this morning and wanted to share my experience. Started off with a cup of tea, in the well appointed waiting room. This is not your typical sterile boring dentist office, it is well designed and comfortable, I instantly felt relaxed and catered to. I was then led to the back and presented with a warm pillow for my neck and a massage chair. The cleaning was meticulous and precise, she took her time and I felt like she really cared about the health of my teeth and gums. I then met with Dr. Mcmillian who did a thorough exam and fitted me with a retainer to adjust my bite, he does most of dental lab stuff in house so the turn around is quick....highly recommend!

Competent and excellent staff that actually care about helping and providing care to their patients! Jaime greeted me and helped me look up my dental insurance plan, provided paperwork for me to fill out and really took the time to get to know me and my needs. I was referred to Dr. McMillan from my cousin and a good friend that are very particular about everything in their lives, so I had to check this dentist out. The dental assistant Eric was kind, knew my health history, and took a pano full mouth x-ray. I felt very relaxed in the treatment room, warm neck pillow, cleanliness was on point, and they played amazing 80’s music! I highly recommend this dental office and rate it 1 Million Stars!

Dr McMillan and the staff at Mint is simply the best, and I'm picky! I consistently receive expert dental care from routine cleanings to more complex treatments like Invisalign. Dr McMillan expertly fixed my crowded teeth with Invisalign and I am so happy to see I have my smile back after so many years. He was attentive and understanding when I had concerns and I always felt heard throughout the process. I cannot recommend Mint Dental enough. Shout out to all the staff, particularly Dental Assistant Nicole, who was amazing throughout my Invisalign process, and Patient Coordinator Greyson who is always professional and great at follow up/ timely communication.

Dr. Macmillan is the best dentist in the whole world. I cannot say enough. I have extreme dental anxiety and needed quite a bit of work done. I fall asleep in his chair without nitrous- he is so gentle and had the most calming soothing energy. All the work he did was impeccable. And the one time I wasn’t happy, they did everything to make sure I got the results I had in my imagination and I couldn’t be happier with my teeth. I had some prior traumatic experiences with dentists before finding Dr. Macmillan and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to anyone who has had the same. I literally couldn’t think of anything Mint Dental could have done and didn’t. They are perfect.

Great dentists and dental assistants who provided a stellar cleaning. Front desk on the other hand, is not great. What I'm hoping is a new employee, Grayson, took 15 minutes to schedule my appointment, putting me on multiple holds, and misinformed me that they accepted my insurance. After receiving the bill, I reached out to confirm I had spoken with Grayson about my insurance prior to my appts and they sent a response telling me I am wrong, I was remembering wrong, and there was no way that could have happened because someone overheard him telling me 'no' (how they knew it was me - a new patient - on the other end of a call two months ago beats me)

I love this spot! Dr. McMillan always makes me feel comfortable, and the hygienists are always super friendly! Everything always feels so high-tech - once, I had to get a crown replaced, and they had the equipment to build the crown in-house! I got to chill and watch Netflix for a few hours while it was made, rather than sporting a temporary crown for a week and having to come in for a second appointment. I do wish their billing system was more transparent... it's never clear what the charges are for, and I always end up having to call, or figure it out at my next appointment. Still would recommend, though!

I am VERY THANKFUL and BLESSED to have had the opportunity to get much needed dental work done here @mintdentalworks in Portland. The entire staff is AMAZING. I have never been to a dental office where from start to finish, I have felt welcomed and at peace through the entire process. The front office staff are welcoming and very friendly. The dental assistants, hygienists, and Doctors are the best I have ever had the pleasure of being treated by. THANK YOU VERY-VERY MUCH for taking care of me and making this trip to Portland and my vacation, one of the best experiences I have ever had.

I love Mint so much! I normally hate the dentist in all aspects and have extreme anxiety about going. But here the whole staff makes you feel relaxed and I never feel judged. They give you a nice neck pillow and of you need to have work done you get to watch Netflix with head phones so you can't hear the drills. Hildy is the best hygienist I have ever had. I highly recommend her (but they are all great!). I also just met the new doctor, Dr. King who was wonderful. I also love that they are locally owned and not corporate. You won't regret going to Mint!

I'm a fan! I have been a patient since Dr. McMillan opened his first practice on NE Glisan. That was many years ago. During my time with him he has given me a smile much nicer than the one I had. The removal of a baby tooth, with no permanent one to be found, and some lovely veneers have been great. In my older years I have become more stressed durning longer procedures, and he has patiently worked with me to relieve my anxiety. I also appreciate that the office has a strong ethic and does everything possible to be environmentally friendly.

I have been going to Mint Dental Works longer than some of the staff has been there. Everyone is always friendly and professional. Dr. McMillan is very competent and efficient as well as friendly and caring. The other doctors are nice but I haven't really had any interaction with them. They also have warm neck pillows (pre covid) , massage chairs, tv's (so you could watch a movie) and headphones. I think the only complaint I have is the cost but that's everywhere so if you need to choose a great dental office, Mint is the best.

Kind, caring, friendly and experienced team of staff. Loved Sarah who took such great care in explaining the various estimates for my procedure and outlined the expenses with great detail in a follow up email. Dr. Kang is a wonderful, kind, patient and gentle dentist who extracted my tooth with the greatest of care, and answered all of my questions. My hygienist Hildy is always a treat to see. Yes I said treat! Hildy makes getting my teeth clean feel like a special visit with a friend. The whole Mint Team is spectacular.

I wanted to tell you about my experience with Mint Dental. Setting up my appointment was very easy, and I liked the many reminders I received before my visit. The whole staff was skilled and gave me great service, which made me feel at ease while I was there. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I could even purchase an electric toothbrush during my last appointment. Overall, I had a great experience at Mint Dental and would suggest them to anyone looking for a reliable and friendly dental office.

Never liked going to the dentist (who does), but this place get's me as close as possible to liking going to the dentist. They're incredibly nice here and absolute experts at what they do. Recently, I chipped my front tooth and they fit me in the very next morning and repaired it. It looks like nothing ever happened now! I'm kind of amazed! Also, they accept Care Credit here, which is great for me because I don't have insurance. Definitely recommend Mint!

Everyone at Mint Dental is so nice, professional and dedicated to their patients. Dr. Kang is super attentive, gentle, and explained everything. The office staff is so sweet. The hygienist did a great job— extremely gentle and my teeth look great. They are all about little touches — a wam neck pillow during a cleaning, complete financial breakdown with no surprises, top of the line dentistry all with a compassionate and friendly approach.

Mint has the nicest and most thoroughly professional staff ever. They are super respectful of my intelligence and tell me problems or potential issues they see (small cavities or cracks), but don't pressure me to take care of expensive things right away. After many years with them my teeth and gums are now in great shape. It's also a very pleasant space and I love the warm neck thingies and being able to watch Netflix during fillings :)

So happy they could get me super fast and take care of my cavities! They try hard to make you feel comfortable. Being able to watch a show while they work is a great distraction. The only thing I wish they had was sliding scale options or income based discounts. But that is very rare in the dental world. They are still more affordable than a lot of places and they do accept care credit.

This is an outstanding dental practice. They have all of the latest technology in-house and are the most knowledgeable team of professionals in the dental industry in the Portland area. The clinic is well appointed and comfortable. The staff is very friendly. My entire family goes to see Dr McMillan. I have also recommended Mint to many friends and they always have a good experience.

Being new to Portland, I was drawn to Mint because of the sustainability of the practice. As a dental professional, I recognize the need to reduce plastic waste in healthcare. The office is clean, and comfortable; the front desk staff was welcoming, the assistant I saw and Dr Kang were both very kind. I've have had the good fortune of having Dr. McMillan as my dentist for many years. He has performed a number of dental procedures for me, including a root canal and an implant. Everything turned out great! Like me, I'm sure nobody is a fan of going to the dentist, but if you must go, go to Mint Dental in SE Portland. And... they have a very friendly staff!

I had my first visit to Mint yesterday. They have all the wonderful things people mentioned (neck pillows and massage chairs), but more importantly the staff and the dentist are knowledgeable, kind and respectful. They did not even make me feel bad about my horrible teeth like other dentists in the past. Highly recommended!

Called looking to schedule an exam & cleaning. Apparently you cannot simply book both at the same time. Their approach requires an initial exam and a cleaning at a separate time. Sounds like a lovely way to make a bit more money with two separate visits. Needless to say I didn't waste my money booking here.

What a great dental practice! Lovely space, nice friendly people, and the dentist himself was very informative and up to date with technology and clinical knowledge. And the massage chair and warm neck rest during the cleaning was a real help in relaxing. I would recommend them to anyone!

Liam and I had an excellent experience at Mint dental. They are very respectful and patient. The appointments are kept short and they are very concise. I never feel like she is ever shamed or judged for eating sugar and just being a regular kid. He loves picking out a toy at the end :)

I travel from Salem to have all my dental needs treated by Dr. McMillan and his staff. I have had negative past experiences elsewhere and appreciate the different types of sedation for procedures to meet my needs. I also like the fact that they take the time to listen to my concerns.

My family of 5 loves Mint Dental. They are always gentle and kind. Dr. Mcmillan is very cautious and would never push procedures that are not necessary. The space is welcoming and relaxing, they offer heated pillows and massage chairs. The staff is always positive and helpful.

Beware older patients! They use machines suited for younger folk, and they are unable face any challenge. If you've had no issue with your teeth throughout your life, then this is a suitable dentist, but if you've had multiple dentists, they aren't good enough to service you.
