Since December 1st we’ve been living the worst days of our lives with the loss of my little brother. It will be a day we will never forget. Trying to process our loss while still having to arrange everything for his funeral at first felt like a nightmare and like something we didn’t want to think about but it needed to be done. We looked at a few funeral homes but it always felt like they weren’t the ones. When we drove to Montclair-Lucania funeral home we right away felt like that was the place for our last physical goodbye and that feeling was just by looking at the outside of the funeral home and the parking it provides. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by Jayme Lemons who up to today when we picked up my brothers ashes has been nothing but helpful and such a big support for my family and I. We took a tour at the funeral home and knew right away that was the place. The funeral home is spacious which was also an important factor given the COVID-19 situation we are living in. Because we want it a place that had enough room for people to keep some distance and be able to move around to keep everyone as safe as possible. The funeral home is also clean and given the circumstances which are not the best we can also say it’s a beautiful place. As soon as you walk in it smells clean, it’s nicely decorated and once we started talking about the packages we knew we had found the place. Jayme Lemons was very respectful towards us and managed to answer all of our questions and concerns. He gave us the space and time to read everything and make our decisions. His attentive care during the most difficult time of our lives made us feel at ease and very comfortable. We will forever be thankful and grateful for finding Montclair-Lucania funeral home, Jayme Lemons and the rest of the staff that during the two days of service worked with us to make of our brothers funeral service something special and unforgettable. My little brothers body also looked so much like him, he looked like he was just peacefully sleeping. The detailed care they provided for the preparation of his body, to the detailed care for the things the funeral package provided was not something that went unnoticed. Once we found the funeral home and we signed the papers we didn’t have to worry about anything regarding the service and that was something we really appreciated and valued. Thank you Jayme Lemons and Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home for everything and for making this painful and hard process as easy as possible for our family.

Ms Danuta Janik of Montclair-Lucania is a blessing. My Grandmothers funeral was beautiful. She knew the needs of my big family before even asking. Her calm demeanor, knowledge and planning skills contributed to three beautiful last days with my Grandmother. When ever there was a concern Danuta rose to the occassion to ensure everything went smoothly and at the same time was able to console and be a heart felt shoulder to lean on. She has a genuinely a good heart and you can see she cares about her job and the people she serves. Thank you Ms Danuta Janik for always taking care of everything for those three days. I could rest assure my Grandmother last days with us would go smoothly when I saw you. It was comforting to know everything would go as planned. If ever you need services provided by Montclair-Lucania look for Danuta Janik I am sure she will take care of you and your family the way she took care of mine.

We prepaid for my mom's funeral expenses around $13,000 in 2018. we were made aware at the time that we may need to pay an additional fee for a cemetery vault of around $1500. We were told ML Funeral Home was a "sister" company for the one we were using in Texas and they would be receiving my mother's remains. I was more than SHOCKED when we were charge $595 to pick-up my mom from the airport and an additional $695 for the hearse! Then, we were charged $2,705 for "Basic Professional Service Fee"! $3995 above the prepaid fees! The cemetery then charged us another $4,000 in fees (open, shut grave, vault, engrave date, paperwork fees, and taxes). SO, be ware of PRE-PAID prices and what it does and mostly doesn't include. The staff, Phillip Hernandez, was kind on the phone and probably doesn't set the pricing. Immediate cremation may be the cheapest route or donate your body to science.

Lizabeth was always pleasant and available to us. She would answer back my emails within minutes and gives feedback or suggestions for some details for my Dad’s memorial. I really appreciate her following up on my dad’s death certificate from the hospital. She was also honest and has integrity. She did everything to make the memorial and funeral service as smooth as possible. I would recommend her to future customers. Also, the staff are very patient, considerate and sensitive to our family. Because they know we are grieving, they gave us a lot of time choosing the details we would like to have for the memorial of our Dad. Even the food catering has a variety of menu to choose from. During the memorial, the staff allowed us to stay a little longer to allow us more time for our relatives to bond more and more time to gather our stuff before leaving. Overall, it’s a great experience.

Not a review I thought I’d have to make but I hope it helps someone when making burial arrangements. My sister took the brunt of the planning the wake and one thing she consistently mentioned was how thankful she was for all the details that were taken care of. Losing a loved one is hard and it’s even harder mourning them and having to plan these things. They took care of calling the church, the cemetery and all the other in-betweens. There was a few cultural traditions that the funeral home was able to accommodate at the last minute that I am very grateful for. I would personally like to thank the driver with the beanie, I don’t remember his name, but his kind disposition the morning of the funeral really helped us get through the procession. The owner was rough around the edges and a little harsh at times, still the rest of the staff made this journey a little more bearable.

The service at Montclaire-Lucania was beyond anything we could've asked for. Both Brooke and Phillip were incredibly helpful in getting the process started. Brooke was our funeral director for our family member's service. She acted with such professionalism as she facilitated the services and I heard nothing but great things about her from all my family and friends who attended the event. She was very responsive to all my texts and questions and kindly offered her opinions on things to make the process smoother. The catering service was also amazing. We did not want to worry about having to bring food so we opted for the in-house catering service and the spread of food was phenomenal. Again, I received so many compliments for the food and the catering staff. I would highly recommend Montclaire-Lucania to any family looking to celebrate their loved one the right way.

I just wanted to share how satisfied and happy I am I was able to find this funeral home. The quality of service was amazing. Looking  for a funeral home is not the easiest thing, specially when you loose a loved one,in my case an 8 month old baby, but I have to say that  phillip made it a smooth process. Everything we asked for ,everything we needed and all the changes we needed they said yes to. Not once did they say "we cant do that for you". The prices are accessible and they are very honest when giving the price.they could of sold me a higher package and honestly I would of taken it, but they where every honest with prices and they told me about cheaper packages that included everything i needed. On the day of the funeral the whole staff was amazing,very helpful and all my guess commented in how great they all were.I recommend this funeral home 100%.

I don't want to give it even 1 star. This was the worst experience. This place is outdated and rips off people who are morning the loss of their loved one. My Mother In-law had a pre arranged contract with a crematorium, for my Father In-Law. She told that to the funeral home. She told them they have to send his body there for cremation. Tom said they have to put the cremation price on the contract for paper purposes, and it would be deducted later, he LIED!! They did the cremation themselves and charged her for it. So now she is not only out of the money she paid to the crematorium she is out an additional 1700.00 the funeral home charged her. Also when asked if they had Tv's that take USB drives to show a video he said yes, but they did not. Their tv and disc player were so outdated that we couldn't play our video.

Mr. Allende has been very informative and helpful at easing my nerves and tension about final preparations and having 2 children, I know my mind could not handle something happening to my husband and take care of our daughter's besides finding the funds to pay for it all! As well for my husband, We are older parents and need to be prepared to take care of our young kids so they are not traumatized more than need be when the day arrives, 20-30 yrs would be great but realistically I'd rather be prepared and have 1 less thing on my plate.. he understood my position and explained how it all works and made the decision easy for us.. it's something we should all be aware of and prepare for.. Recently, I lost my beautiful, beloved Mother. We held the services at the Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home. The funeral director we worked with was Danuta Janik. She went above and beyond in providing exceptional services and consideration to our family. Danuta helped us navigate the new protocols mandated during this world-wide pandemic. The new guidelines and restrictions made dealing with the loss of a loved one even more devastating. Danuta was professional, knowledgeable, and gently guided us through this very difficult process. She was thoughtful and measured in dealing with our family’s needs. My experiences working with the staff at Montclair-Lucania was comforting and supportive. There was nothing that could have prepared me for my grief and loss of a loved one, but the Director Phillip and his staff were with me and my family every step of the way and that was so helpful! They took their time and carefully went through all of the details with us and I felt that they were an extension of my family. Always available and responsive to calls or emails, I never felt overlooked or unheard when it came to the requests or clarification I asked from them. I never thought this type of experience could be seamless in it's operation as well as phenomenal in the way I, the customer, was served. High marks to all the staff and I will highly recommend them.

I have to say that from the first day that I entered into Montclair-lucania to get information for my wife's wake I was greeted in a professional manner as I walked in. They made it easier to get through the hard time of scheduling my wife's wake. From the beginning they were very sincere and comforting. Elizabeth and Phillip made the funeral beautiful and special. They both were caring and thoughtful through a hard moment in life. Elizabeth took her time with me during the process of organizing the funeral without any pressure. She is such a lovely lady to work with. I was surprised with joy when the hearse did the drive by the house and it stopped. Elizabeth got out and put a rose and a lily on Karen's front door it was a heartfelt moment that put happy tears to my eyes. Phillip, the funeral director made me feel so at peace how he took gentle care of me and of Karen's final journey. He didn't rush any time of the funeral and I appreciated that so much. One of the most important things you can do for a family is help them celebrate what was unique about their loved one. Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home and Danuta (Donna) went above and beyond for our family. Donna was the funeral director for our services and made a very difficult and sensitive day run smoothly and comfortably. This place was completely unprofessional...a day before my mother's service they call & say their moving my mother to a different room because another family wanted it last minute when we already paid...utterly disrespectful to my entire family...will never recommend this place to anyone who wants their loved ones to be taken care of ...Id actually warned them to stay far away because they just took our money and further broke my familys heart. They should be ashamed.

When my husband died unexpectedly on May 9th, I was preparing for his return home instead of death. My brother took me here to make his final arrangements. Phil was very helpful and understanding at this difficult time. The arrangements went smoothly with no viewing but only a burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery the following week. Phil handled everything professionally so I didn't have to worry. I would definitely recommend them for personal care.

When my grandmother passed away, my mother didn’t know what to do. She called Montclair-Luciana because that’s where my grandfathers wake was at 18 years ago. I’m so happy that she did. Carson is the best and he took care of everything for us. He did such an amazing job with everything, I was so impressed. With the help of our pre planning consultant Jose Allende, We recently purchased a pre burial plan from montclaire -lucania. He was such great help! He’s very knowledgeable and very kind and caring, it was a pleasure to have worked with him. He was able to guide us and show us around since my family and I had no idea how all this worked. Overall, this is a very nice location for an end of life celebration/funeral.

My entire family thought that the wake and funeral for our mother was exceptional. Carson went above and beyond helping us in so many ways. The parlor and room were very nice, the flowers were full and beyond my expectations, the video was loved by all, and the snack room was busy. Our brother was here also in 2008 and we were very satisfied then and now. They made it very special in honoring our mother.

Stay away… business takes ur money in full within 3days and now wants you to wait 30 days for a refund! Will be contacting the better business bureau. Paid on June 2nd, full amount, money taken in full June 5th. Please explain why you make a person wait 30days for a full refund! If you need funeral service I strongly suggest you search elsewhere where they don’t over charge customers !

My mother fell on in love with this funeral home when my grandmother passed so much that she chose it for herself right away. When my mother passed we met with the funeral director Phil. Phil was extremely patient, personable and knowledgeable which made the process easier. The whole process was handled professionally and most importantly with respect and compassion. Thank you!

My parents pre arranged their plans, we were very happy with the turn out for my Mom October 2012 and then just recently for my Dad. Absolutely beautiful experience at Montclair funeral home. The staff was wonderful and thoughtful and helped with so many things I wouldn't have thought of. Just went for a friend's father's funeral. When I lived in the city, I had my mother's funeral here. Over 20yrs ago, they were very good to me, my family, and all my guests.
