"This is a nice BART station"
BART is an example of a good idea that it carried out as poorly as can be humanly achieved. Claiming to not have enough money to fix specific infrastructure problems, BART has decided to remove seating in order to stuff more people onto already overcrowded trains. More riders equal more money. BART has also decided to raise ticket prices--more so for paper ticket purchasers, preying upon those unable to create Clipper accounts for whatever reasons--and to charge for parking, a service numerous riders need to even use BART in the first place. All to raise required funding. This raises the question of why BART doesn't have the funding they need. There are several reasons, but the most laughable is BART's complaint about fare jumpers. Setting aside the question of if BART earns fares with their poor service, the company has no right to complain when they neglect to make sure gates are observed. I have never been to the PIT/Baypoint station without seeing at least one fare jump. Nobody in the booth, nobody watching the gates. BART relies on our necessity of them. That won't change very quickly, but it can change eventually. If you're reading this and contemplating finding a ride or ride share instead of BART, do it. Do it once to try it and see how you like it. Let's make BART work for us instead of treating us like cash cows and herding us like cattle.
Dark as a dungeon as 90% of the fluorescent tubes are burned out. They've not been in replaced in 3 years. Applicable at muni and BART levels. Neglect or abandonment of what should be routine maintenance created a safety problem. The cost of replacing all the bulbs on both platforms would be a fraction of the overtime expense paid to the Powell Station janitor last year. LED tubes are now available and are compatible with existing fixtures. LED bulbs use half the electricity of a fluorescent tube and last five times longer. The cost differential is small and the payback is short. Maybe the Montgomery station is not the only thing being kept in the dark. Don't let perfect get in the way of good. Yeah, replacing bulbs is not sexy, glamorous, or career-making. But it does show some respect for the passenger and voter. It seems like the least you could do to keep us safe and out of our cars
Highly congested Bart stop. If you can avoid using this station during peak times, I highly recommend using a different stop. Escalators have been broken for a few days with no sign of progress. Especially on high volume times when a lot of workers commute to and from work, it adds a huge delay. Only 1 escalator going up, and people have to queue to go down the stairs to the platform. Unfortunately, commuters are forced to take it and just accept how inefficient it is - constantly increasing prices but reflect very little improvements and very little concern for paying passengers/commuters. Edited: Situation has improved during COVID times with less people commuting to and from work. No longer congested, and the escalators have been fixed. It does feel like a different city and a much different Bart station feel now that it’s so empty compared to pre-pandemic times.
This is a nice BART station. I went here and was satisfied with my experience. This BART station is located in the Financial District and pretty close to Chinatown. It’s served by the blue, red, yellow, and green lines as well as some MUNI lines. From here, you can go to SFO, Oakland Airport, Richmond, Antioch, Fremont, downtown Oakland, Daly City, Millbrae, Pleasanton, Fremont, Berkeley, and Berryessa. This station is spacious and clean with entrances to Sansome and Montgomery Streets. I gave this BART station five stars because it has service to lots of places, is clean and spacious, and because it’s conveniently located in the Financial District by Chinatown.
This BART station is where I get off for work. However, it's the BEST bart station because it connects to underground Muni as well as usually has really good street performers. It also connects the busiest muni line above ground to the 38 and the 38L. It's usually pretty busy here since it's the station in the heart of the FiDi and it's usually not as lost tourist filled as Powell.
The girl at the information desk was very busy playing some bubble game on her phone. She was clearly annoyed that I needed help figuring out how to buy 2 tickets to get us to the airport. Extremely rude and not helpful at all. She should definitely not be working at an information desk as she had no personal skills whatsoever.
Some kids stole a phone from a woman here at Bart station and she was running after them screaming: “give me my phone”. I thought they were just kids playing around and being vocal. By the time I figured out that they stole it, it was too late. They vanished. Poor woman. She was so upset. No police presence whatsoever.
Still infested with homeless people and grug addicts. Pay attention to your surroundings at all cost around there especially at night. I highly suggest for the elderly and women to commute in a group at night. This area is infamous for sketchy people and activities. Have a blessed and prosperous day …
Escalator always seems to be broken. The homeless people surround the entry to this area most of the time. It seems dark and rather shabby. There are no bathrooms down here. Be careful to actually go to the BART entrance, and not the MUNI entrance. They are different. There are several recharging stations here.
Love the secret entrance to this on Montgomery, right before the Starbucks. This entrance closes after around 7 pm on weekdays though, and isn't open on weekends. Not too busy in this station, even during rush hour. Usually a busker or two by the escalators, and of course the Scientologist tables..
Multiple entrances and exits, Stairs, escalators and an elevator. Near multiple bus stops, other subway system, main Street of San Francisco, businesses, shopping, restaurants. This stop is nestled between the business district and the shopping district.
Not a problematic station being in the heart of downtown/financial district. Pretty safe part of the city and the station is fine. Nothing special. It's a little old (Powell St. has been renovated, Montgomery has not) but it's clean and it works.
Clean and spacious! Not to mention, this is the stop that is located right before the Embarcadero when you are traveling away from the airport on the lovely yellow line train to Antioch. Try not to fall asleep on the train and miss your
What a national disgrace this "system", is. I have been in subway systems all over the world and this one is the worst. Awful carriages. Filthy stations. Vomit on the floors. Shame on San Francisco. Home of high tech.... What a joke.
It’s a good station and pretty normal. It has good distance to other places and is the main station for visiting Chinatown. If you are visiting ferry building and Pier 39 you should just go to Embarcadero because it is closer.
Centrally located for downtown, this stop is a good location for MUNI aboveground. A lot of MUNI busses connect here aboveground. Because this station is underground, there are no trash cans available on the platform.
I have never really had a problem with this bart station. Entrances and exits are really easy to get to. The station agents are always really nice also. You can get on both BART and MUNI at this location.
Bart attendant was helpful in buying a clipper card and travel directions.. of course the trains were delayed but ♀️ to the Berryessa train to Milpitas! Saved 80$ on a uber from SF! …
The station is well located in the financial district, pretty convenient to go to East bay or other places in San Francisco. But some of the escalators are often out of service.
Well kept, generally clean. Very busy during workdays. Since it is underground, it is covered. There are one or two options for a quick snack/coffee. No restrooms though.
This is a very busy bart station. Well lit, so even though I was there late at night, i felt semi safe. The station was well kept and not dirty for a public area.
Better than 16th and 24th st. Comparing to European metro rail system stations, could have been done better. Smells. Dark, and escalators don't work very often.
Beeindruckende Kulisse. Vor allem wenn man das erste Mal die Innenstadt von San Francisco betritt. Frisch vom Airport ist das ein überwältigender Anblick.
Montgomery Station is a dual transit station for both Bart & Muni (SFMTA). From my perspective, the station feels safe and easily accessible.
I hate all the bart stations in San Francisco. There all smell like pee and homeless people harass you when you're trying to buy your ticket.
So hard to find a functioning entrance with all the construction at escalators right now...why are multiples being renovated at once?
It was an okay experience. In terms of just the station itself, people were kind of rude and non helpful, but it's fine, we survived.
One of the cleaner stations (over Powell). Conveniently located but frequently under repair. It is central to all of FiDi and SOMA.
One of the busy ones. It's always pretty warm in the tunnel area. Be sure to line up like everyone else during the busy hours.
Dirty , smells ok. Always crowded as it is a commuter station. If your not a commuter , do not come here 8am-9am and 5pm-6pm
About as reliable as a jello doorknob. BART is stuck on stupid. Very expensive too. Should be free as the service SUCKS.
Kinda dark. Can get crowded specially on rush hour. You have to pay attention to avoid getting into the wrong train.
Thank goodness for the holiday Banana Republic ads plastered on the columns and walls. Happy Holidays for my eyes :)
Who doesn't love the smell of a metro station? Although embarcadero might be a little more like my home station.
Clean and safety station. There's a connection with the MUNI rail train inside Montgomery Station.
Less expensive to board at Montgomery when Bound for East Bay leaving from San Francisco!!!
guaranteed to have a broken escalator, elevator, or an entrance closed for construction
Conveniently located (near a Target), never any problems with crowds or train schedules
I travel here 5 days a week it's clean for the most part and has a decent bathroom
Great station but definitely very busy during the morning and evening commute.
It's a lot nicer and cleaner compared to the one at Powell St. Bart station.
Great station. All the muni metro line stops here including the bart
I was trying to get bart and the closed 12:45 am? What's going nuts
I've seen sexier Bart stations -- I am looking at you Embarcadero.
Much cleaner than Powell Street, and the smell is more tolerable.
It's a convenient station to go to a far away place …
Nice and clean in general. Could use BART POLICE PRESENCE.
Great location! Walking distance to the Salesforce Tower
Puke at the top of the stairs.... Very gross and smelly
Heather keeps the New Montgomery BART station clean.
station is old and moldy. sometimes smells like pee
good place for homeless & bums. watch your wallet.
One of the quieter and cleaner Bart stops
Do not take your bike on the escalator
Only one of the businesses are open
I went to Montgomery Station …
BART station closet to Oracle Park
Siempre tomo el bart en este lugar
Nothing special about this station
It's a station, could be cleaner
Not as bad as Civic Center BART
Good place to start on Bart.
