The Powell station is very convenient, especially for traveler, it can easy to connect to tour spots. but unfortunately, there are some homeless guys to cheat travelers. according my bad experience, I saw two times, one is my friend, another is me. I think homeless guy can easy to identify who traveler is. When we would like to buy BART ticket to airport, they come out and two really cases for you reference: case 1(My Friend)：If you only pay 4USD/person, you can get the ticket. you don't need to pay money to me immediately, you can double check it and pay to me after you pass through gate . case 2(Myself)：my family total 3 persons, homeless told to me, no cheating, don't worry about me. If you buy three ticket around 27USD, you only pay 20USD to me, you can saving 7USD. But I think there is no such thing as a free lunch. I insist this is cheating behavior and reject his suggestion. But my wife give him 10USD and homeless run away very~very~very quickly. I told to my friend, you can't get the lowest price ticket, it should be has problem. my friend double check with gate security who told him, they are bad guys. you need to buy ticket by yourself. May I give a suggestion to Powell station center? please restrain this kind of behavior in the station, I'm very worry about they will snatch wallet or package, even they will hurt some traveler. Please help pay attention to this issue, thanks!!

For some reason on each of my trips to the Bay and the City I seem to be centrally located near Market. I think it's because of the hotels. I seem to always use this as the jump off point for my daily excursions eating, sight-seeing or visiting friends. I'm still a noob when purchasing credits and putting money on cards, but the bums in the station are at least helpful and worthy of earning their tip in helping me out. Not the case in cities like NY, Chicago where I know to be a little more cautious. This place has no trashcans on the platform, but it's pretty clean either way. Subways are the way to go, convenient and out of the way, save the streets for the bikers, trollies and cars. Although I've never seen a cop in or around the entrance in the dozen experiences I've had here it would be nice to throw a rent a cop into the mix. It's pretty safe overall, but it's a cold cruel world sometimes. Bart cards are way easier to purchase than transit in NY, but I actually think their system is easier to travel greater distances.

Even though there's lots of shady people. This is a beautiful spot. And it is because of the people who work here. From the Urban alchemy people who keep me safe to the workers at the Apple store, or burger king. Especially the awesome People from MUNI and BART. Who are what makes San Francisco, San Francisco. Always unique, always cool. Who have to not only deal with The operation of Trains, busses and Cable cars. They have to deal with things that don't have anything to do with "Driving" meaning.. Car's bicycles and pedestrians. (Druggies, the Un-Housed and criminals too. So please be aware of your surroundings. And never leave your Property, and ESPECIALLY your Children alone in or around the station.) As with most of the City it's the people who make this place special.

I know that the service is bad but in the last couple of weeks is has gotten worst. I work in downtown San Francisco and i get off st the Powell station. Today notvone scalator going up or down was working not to mention the lines on the ticket machines were busy than due to all of the out of order machines, i probably counted 6 machines out of order. I often see 4 to 5 workers at the booth not doing anything other than talking to each other and i ask myself do they really deseve to work forbart and collect a paycheck for mot doing anything? Why is it that the bart fairs keep going up and things don't get better at any of the stations but instead they keep getting worst?

Functional underground station with direct entrance to mall. This underground station is shared by Muni Metro and BART. The BART paid area has a public restroom that's maintained decently. Parts of the station are closed off for construction. It's accessible for wheelchairs with elevators that go through all levels. Also, this station is accessible through two entrances that link it to the Westfield mall. Unhoused people sleep here on cold nights, but most of them are harmless. Could the station be cleaner? Yes, but it's not horrible as is and there are worse BART and Muni Metro stations.

This is one of the best locations for BART - Union Square is just a short hike uphill. This station connects to Westfield Mall - you don't even need to go outside or aboveground. It's located on Market Street. This station is also a good station to connect to MUNI busses. The San Francisco Visitor Information Center is right next door to this station. A few step is all it takes to get tons of information on The City. Cons - heavily populated and there are a lot of tourists. Some sketchy hotels are near here. A lot of panhandling goes on around here.

Be very careful and keep your ‘wits’ about you, while riding BART. On September 14, 2021, a woman lost her life in a freak accident. But to me, that never should’ve happened. Before any vehicle take off, it’s the operator(s) priority and responsibility to make sure, 1). All doors are closed. 2). [And] it’s safe to take off. If this criteria is not met, it shouldn’t be moved yet. Let’s let this tragic incident serve as incentive to improve safe travel in the bay area and beyond.

Specifically for the cable car stop! People hate on the cable cars but it's an SF institution no matter how cheesy. This is the spot to catch them. Lines are super long during the day when tourists are around but best time for a cable car ride is after 8pm. By then, the tourist tide has died down and you'll be able to take in SF by moon and street light on these historic cars. At night, it's like a ride through a dream. Be aware of homeless ppl begging for money here though.

One of the more decent BART stations, which is impressive considering the proximity to the Civic Center and Mission stations. It also connects with the shopping mall, which is cool. As of March 2022, they've added 2 unisex restrooms behind the fare gate for riders to use!! And it seems like there's always an employee sitting outside monitoring them, so hopefully there won't be too many inconsiderate drug users barricading themselves in for 20 minutes at a time.

If you're coming into the city from the East Bay or South Bay, BART will save the cost of parking and get you close to where you need to go. This station is ideal if your destination is the mall or Union Square. It's just below the first level of the mall which is very convenient. Once you exit the station, there are a handful of homeless people that hang around the station so keep your belongings close to you. I normally power walk out of here just to be safe.

Riding the BART was a very different experience for me. The people are friendly and assistive, especially if you're a tourist, which is pleasing because I know how aggravating tourists can be sometimes. Aside from that, it's rather confusing trying to figure out where they're going and how to get to each of your destinations, but aside from that the interior was pretty okay. You can go into all different places like Berkeley.

The system is nice to have but I wish it extended further into the Bay Area. The poor review is because at the Powell station specifically, homeless people were harassing people trying to buy a ticket and the staff did nothing to stop it. The panhandler was sticking his arm in my face and swearing at me after I refused to give him any money. All in front of the staff hiding behind the information booth. Horrible experience.

Pros: 30 minutes to either airport (SFO or OAK) from Powell BART. Easy walk to Union Square and Yerba Buena Gardens. Easy connections to Muni Metro and upcoming Central Subway. Direct connection to Westfield mall and food court. Cons: generally dirty - and constantly under construction/renovation. Panhandlers routinely beg for money as you exit the station. Not a pleasant place to spend any significant amount of time.

The Powell Bart Station has some great shops and has it's own entrance into the Westfield Mall. The mall offers great places to shop as well as a range of different restaurants and cafes to choose from. The station itself is very popular and spacious as well as clean. Bart police is usually on patrol there for criminal activity and you often have some local preformer entertaining around the entrance of the station.

Leaving San Francisco to SFO. Catching the BART from the Powell St. Station. This place was surprisely crowed. The most in have seen since the pandemic. Powell St. needs to be updated and cleaned better. So many stairs. I guess people with wheelchairs and other walking disabilities just can't enter the station. Lots of aggressive homeless people. No security that I saw. I wish I didn't have to catch my train here.

I take the Muni from Powell every day to get to work. I leave pretty early so there aren't a ton of people around. I've never had any issues in the station itself but you never know who will be hanging around outside the station. I've never felt unsafe and have seen plenty of security around if things get a little sketchy. I'm just glad I commute outbound in the mornings and avoid the crammed train cars.

I didn't see anything bad, but I didn't stay long for the shops there either (me and my friend didn't have much money on us). However, apparently they had bathrooms that opened up later than we arrived, which was strange. Who keeps a time schedule on a bathroom? Anyway, this caused us great stress, as we had to walk around a bit until we found a restaurant that had a bathroom we could use.

Filthy, disgusting, and overrun with severely mentally ill. This station is shameful. You'll find men and women lying about the floors covered in urine, feces , and vomit. At the ticket vending machines you'll be harassed by aggressive panhandlers. Tonight I watched a violent scammer chase two teen-age boys into the BART ticketed area and threaten them. The BART station agent did nothing.

Easy access to all SF. Transit. The Powell Station has both Bart and SFMTA (Muni). The station has ticket machines in order to enter turnstile. The station has elevator access to street level and platform level. The Muni station machines are programed to sell Clipper cards and 3 day passes. The only draw back to Powell is the homeless crises, but then this problem exist through SF.

If you got time on your hands definitely get off at this station & go see some of what SF has offer. This bart is close to Westfield Mall/Union Square & so many other cool places that your will love. Beware though that there is alot going on here.Lots of crowds/tourists ,homeless people, people performing on side walks, side walk vendors etc.

I hate this bart station, always bad experience here. There's always hella stinky homeless people. You have to really be careful at this station, the bums will try to sell you fake bart tickets. And also be careful with using your phones and hold on to your purses/bags really tight. The bart workers are nice, but there are also some rude ones.

It’s a decent station with direct access to Westfield and nearby to the Cable Car. It’s newly renovated and also connects underground to the nearby Union Square Station for T-Third St Muni. Station is kept clean, there may be some homeless people but there’s also BART Police patrolling the station. Can get busy at times

The place is okay. Has the direct connection to Westfield mall. Overall it is clean but the ticket machines are annoying there. Not stable and the BART staffs there some are horrible. They would rather chitchat than to do their job. If you interrupted them they would be answering you with annoying tone. Hopeless type.

You have to lower your standards when going to any BART station. Powell Street is especially bad, though. Used to be alright, but has grown to become filled with panhandlers, violent incidents and weird smells. Its biggest draw is just its closeness to key tourist spots, like Union Square and the shopping center.

It's far from the worst station on the line, but it only feels slightly safe due to how busy it mostly is. At quiet times, it's not particularly pleasant. You won't be waiting for a train very long though and it's well located. Certainly a place to keep your wits about you, but that's true of most of BART.

I don't even really know how to write a station but I will say this its in the shopping area and it's full of homeless people so typically smells like urine. The other crappy thing about this and I guess it's SF in general, is that everything shuts down super early so typically the station is closed.

Took the Berryessa train. It was the first time I'd ridden on the BART since the pandemic. A new route. Payment is only through clipper cards which can now be purchased at ticket booths. No.more aer cards. And this very new train. It still squeals in the translation tunnel like the old trains.

Central location to everything. Gets super crowded during rush hour. But man, BART is disgusting. Try not to touch anything when you get on the BART. I'm glad they finally got rid of the cloth seats that never got cleaned for 40 years, but BART sucks. It's expensive, inefficient, and dirty.

This is probably the central BART station for San Francisco. Right in the heart of downtown, a block from Union Square and the Moscone Center, easy MUNI access to the rest of the city and Caltrain, access to cable cars, and a direct entrance to the basement of the Westfield Centre.

The area was very crowded. Long line waiting for the Cable Car. I saw more police and security guards and volunteers to help the tourists. Everyone should go to San Francisco for the experience. Union Square and Fisherman wharf are great places. Try the fresh CRAB YUMMY …

Keeping up with the millions of people who visit here every year is no laughing matter. The city does a great job to get the place as clean they can get it and move people along in comfort and with speed and care. They also work hard to have it me a safe experience for travelers.

Center of downtown. The Bart is the best way to get to San Francisco airport and have trains every 15 minutes and only costs US$8.95 from Powell street station. Many transports come direct to this station, so no matter almost where you are in the town, it's easy to get here.

Unbelievably dirty station, pee inside elevator, homeless sitting along the walkway. I was wondering if this is San Francisco.. Despite all these horrible experiences, it's the right station to get off the train , walking along Union Square, Chinatown and Golden gate .

Powell Street Station is probably one of the busiest Bart stations. Get off here to spit yourself out on Market street to get to the Westfield mall where all the shops and restaurants are. You can also easily walk to a lot of other SOMA restaurants from here.

What says SF more than cable cars? Got to ride the last visit with family and it was great. Being a lifelong Midwesterner, this was a cool experience, particularly taking the route to Fisherman’s Warf. Definitely on my list to do again on a future visit.

One of the worst BART stations in the system. This is a sleeping ground for 20+ homeless folks every single morning. It's also soooo humid in there. This place can use some work and according to recent SF articles, they will be addressing the issues.

This bart station is one of the cleanest within the bay area. My favorite feature of Powell bart is its direct connection to the Westfield mall entrance. I occasionally work in the mall and this quick access makes it easy and fun to commute to work.

One of only a few places where the cable cars turn around, and definitely a hot spot during tourist season! The line does move quickly but if you want to hop on faster, just walk up a block or two toward Union Square and catch the cable car there.

Nothing special, its just a train station downtown but its right in the middle of everything, lots of shopping, places to eat, upscale hotels and historic buildings. There can be ghetto people late night, but thats pretty much to be expected.

Yeah!!! That's a great place to eat!! Good sandwiches, good salads, good cofee... and for $12 bugs!! They have a beatiful terrace for sunny days, awesome. And you want to make the laundry at same time? Is the perfect place!!! Go there.

There are a lot of nices stores in this area. To me this place is the heart of Downtown. Even though it's always crowded with a lot of tourists. A lot of events take place over there which makes this place a good place to hang out.

One downside of this starion was the lack of a working escalator not to fun when you are carting bags with you. Overall could use some cleaning on the inside. But still a very easy way to get from the airport to downtown.

This BART stop is conveniently located by the Westfield mall. Depending on your timing, it can be pretty crowded and busy - so try to catch a train during off hours. The station can get dirty, but is usually pretty safe.

Homeless people are also human beings as all of us are. Don't discriminate others who are living in difficult conditions. Be more compassionate and respectful to other people. You are not better than them.

Ppwell station is a good Center close from everything union Square but the worst thing the bart isn’t clean and a lot of homeless sleep there so I don’t think everyone feel safety when they walking in it

I feel sorry for any women or children that rely on Bart, it's dangerous and dirty. I ve lived in San Francisco for 42 years, sad but true take caltrain or samtrans if possible. Be safe!

Golden Gate Bridge, Ocean Beach, Powell BART. Truly the most iconic of all BART stations - a San Francisco tourist must. It's got noise, filth, and solicitors - what's not to love!

Powell Station is really nice because the quality of musicians is better. They lead you to the exit even if the layout can be confusing at times even if you're not a frequent user.

There used to be a thriving community of buskers playing music in the main areas of the station. Now it's just... A place to board a train while staring at your phone. Dull.

Escalator and elevator not working inconveniences for travelers have language from the airport , tourist , unexpectedly, hoping to be fix ! Especially Powell station !

The platform is lit like a tomb. How much effort does it take to replace the hundreds of bulbs that are burned out? Transit first my a**. Unsafe to say the least.

Nice station at the foot hill of Powell street. Once you get out of the station, you are close to shops restaurants and easy walk to other interesting locations

I go through the Powell station to get to the muni underground train station. I am not really cool with the underground thing,but it does serve its purpose.

It's safe to assume that every surface of this station is covered in a thin (and sometimes not so thin) layer of human feces. Don't. Touch. Anything.

Honestly the best station to go to for Union square, Westfield and downtown. You have to deal with Muni and Bart but that's pretty ubiquitous....

I busked again at this station. The acoustics are wonderful! It's also handy because there are a lot of walkable things there, and around there.

This location is convenient for Union Square and the SF Shopping Centre. It connects directly to the mall. As with most BART stations, be alert.

Most dangerous BART station, aside from East Oakland. Expect public urination, junkies shooting up, and violence a plenty. Avoid at all costs.

Historic Powell Street. Home to the famous SF Cable Car Turnabout. This is the beginning of the 'Powell to Aquatic' Park Cable Car Line.

For a main downtown station it's spacious and very clear directions to everywhere downtown. Plus the visitor's center is right outside.

Great and easy accessible BART station. You can also take the subway from here. The station feels pretty safe with some cops around.

It is a subway station. Nothing great, nothing terrible. Not very many homeless people which was nice and the wait wasn't too long.

Beware! You will need a clipper card...you cannot use your paper ticket to add money or buy a paper ticket at this station!

A lot of homeless and drunk people. Be aware some people follow you too at night. My friends had been tailed by some guys.
