Fun cafe find in Portland, not quite in the downtown heart of the city, but out further. The vegetarian and vegan options were limited, but milk alternatives were definitely standard. (I love this as a Portland cultural thing). Had two pastries, both were very tasty, no artificial tastes or aftertastes; apricot jammer and a berry muffin. I had a hot, lavender-honey latte with oat milk. I expected it to be sweeter than how it came out; pleasantly surprised that I was wrong. Neither flavor overwhelmed the other. The drink flavors were well balanced, the espresso didn't standout or overpower the other flavors either. Didn't walk around the store, but there's an antique store attached, for shopping. Seating outside on the patio or inside surrounded by books. Dog friendly. There's some on street parking, but plan ahead for having to park further away and walking up as parking is limited. It's worth a short walk, for sure.

Came in the other day and my eggs were burnt and my laté was sour, I think the espresso shot in my laté was sour which made my drink horrible. The customer service was horrible and the wait time was inexcusable considering it was slow. Management/ownership must have changed assuming that it seems the standards have. I’ve been a consistent and loyal customer for the last few years and this is highly disappointing. This is the cherry on top in regards to me not wanting to come back and I had been sitting on this for a while now so it’s very saddening to see.

Every time I visit this place my tummy is extremely pleased. They make everything from scratch which is awesome. Really good unique homemade soups. they always have some great special cooking up in the kitchen as well as their regular menu is is awesome I just love this place. The staff are always friendly and very patient because I'm always so indecisive what I want because there's too many good things. Yesterday I split a pecan bar with my daughter all I can say is OMG!

  • Craig Boline

Great coffee, pastries, and friendly staff. They will warm up your pastries if you ask! It looks like they have a menu of food (breakfast / lunch) but I’ve not looked too closely. They also have a proper nice outdoor seating area. Like metal chairs and tables with umbrellas. I bet you could bring your dog and sit outside without a problem. Parking is on the street which isn’t ideal, but we’ve never had trouble finding a spot in the morning or at lunchtime.

Very nice staff, good food, nice big tables and chairs. Great for study groups, meetings, book club, moms w strollers. Kids want to enter the adjoining antique shop, but if you bribe them with one of their giant cookies, you can avoid a bull in China shop situation. My biggest complaint is hard to park (only 3 spaces in front) and the traffic on Stark can be fast and stressful if you have little ones. I would come again, esp if the spots are open in front.

Coolest sit-down coffee spot in town, in my opinion. Located inside of a massive vintage mall, its a great spot for a fun late morning outing. I personally have not eaten there, but food options are available. Great drinks. Tables to sit in, as well as some arm chairs, i believe. Awesome place for a one on one meeting, getting some homework done, or even a date! Highly recommend. Im constantly looking for time in my schedule to visit again.

  • Geert Aerts

Nice and quiet, great variety of things to eat for breakfast or lunch, tons of free books to read, friendly staff, and all the wacky things to look at in the attached antique mall. My favorite coffee shop where I invite dates, and even a couple of times a colleague to do work on the free wifi - always a seat whereas sometimes it's way too crowded at Bipartisan. The place has been recently remodeled to eliminate the poker room.

  • Cindy Smith

The food and drinks are very good and the atmosphere is the icing on the cake! You can sit inside, which is part of the attached antique store (another favorite!) and you feel like you're at home OR you can eat outside on the patio - delightful! If I lived in Portland, I'd be there every week! I love it and go every single time we visit our son and his family, which is every 3-4 months.

I have 5 cafes that make my top cafe of pdx list. This is one of them. Attached to an antique shop. Get a vegan breakfast and any drink option you want. Great staff and vibe. East Portland. Maybe considered north east. Pretty much middle of portland on east side.

Super cute cafe attached to a really cool antique marketplace within the same building along with very nice staff and quick service. Food and drinks were AMAZING as well and there is both indoor and outdoor seating (indoor is definitely limited). Definitely worth grabbing some food and checking out antique items and furniture

Quaint vintage shop with very nice coffee shop/sandwich bar and baked goods. Plenty of indoor seating with outdoor tables available in a courtyard setting weather permitting. Friendly staff.

This is a really interesting place I frequent for breakfast and lunch. First off, they have an awesome patio complete with beautiful plants and water features. Additionally, they carry a wide variety of breakfast baked goods. Another interesting thing about this place is that it's attached to an large antique shop!

  • Cendy Prator

I went to there for a coffee meet up . I ordered Lavender camomile tea. It did not taste like Lavender to me. They also do not have a large variety of things to eat. Nothing that is GF.

Monti's is quaint and wonderful. They make fantastic coffee drinks and mimosas for walking around the antique mall!! The food is terrific as well: breakfast dishes, quiche, sandwiches, and heavenly pastries & cookies. As a bonus, they have shelves full of books to read and decks of playing cards on every table!!

  • Nancy White

Worst experience today. Waited over 30 minutes for my meal and my eggs were ice cold when I got them. And the bacon was overcooked. They were not busy. People who ordered long after I did got their food before I did. No apology.

Very cozy happy place, coffee, tea and snacks (few sandwiches, bagels, muffins) with lots of tables for people to meet and talk, then there is an antique store attached that makes for good browsing. Friendly people, great atmosphere, yummy food, what more could you ask for!!

Don't come if your hungry. I paid 7.00 for the egg breakfast. Got two eggs with 2 slices of bacon. Where I come from breakfast is more than. 150 calories. Would have paid more for something with substance. I'm surprised anyone would come here for food.

  • Matt Thornton

Just had my first experience here. Fantastic! Five stars all the way! Loved my little breakfast sandwich. Loved the options offered for it. Service was stellar. Coffee was second to none. They really brightened up my day. Thank you Monti's Cafe!

The Antique Mall has never been better. Monti's is in the mall, a total plus; tea & crumpets... or excellent coffee options, comfy seats,.... and the antique mall is quality!!! From Boise, Id., second visit, and We'll be back.
