This is my 3rd trip to MONA and somehow I had not known previously that the food element to this place existed (maybe because it’s called a Wine Bar I might have thought it was a cellar door?). Anyway, this trip we got to go prior to visiting the museum and were extremely surprised by the food on offer. This place is like fine dining without the pretentious people / restaurant which is okay by us. We had the oysters, God’s Mezze and the King Prawn Poke Bowl to share. The dishes were packed with flavour, super delicious and plentiful. The staff were super friendly, the restaurant was very spacious and the food came out quickly. All pluses in our book. Would definitely recommend you include it for your next trip to MONA.
A visit to Mona in Hobart Tassie was not as confronting as I thought. But I do understand the hype, and what makes it different and interesting at the same time. Well that’s a different review…. Let’s talk about the Moorilla Wine Bar at the end of our tour. The Burrito was very tasty, good size which can also feed for 2 as a light snack. Our snack was accompanied with white wine and Aperol Spritz. Friendly service, entertainment with live music and then some when seated outside, clean and overall a really good atmosphere. It was quite a windy weekend but I can say the visit did not disappoint.

I went here with the intention of buying a couple of products but I ended up doing a full tasting. It was a quiet day and the staff dropped the cost of the tasting for us which was a pleasant surprise. I am a massive fan of their beer Moo Brew and I think they make one of the best hefeweizen in the country and it was nice to sample all their products. We were guided through their range of wines by the very knowledgeable staff member. I felt she was very generous with the amount of wine she was poring us too, which is not a bad thing. She even let us sample a wine that wasn't on the tasting list. Very happy with our experience here.
Went there for breakfast today Food - Good Ambiance - Good Coffee - Good Customer service and vibe from staff - poor Place was almost empty and there were probably 5 to 6 staff and everyone was occupied keeping each other entertained instead of greeting customers. We walked in while employees were just at some tables and chitchatting - no one said hi or where to sit etc. it felt like they were doing us a favour by letting us walk in and order. That’s just how we felt, doesn’t necessarily mean that was their intention. It will be nice if staff pay a little more attention to customers than to each other.
I have had several wine tasting experiences in Australia and this by far is the worst one. There were 4 wines (2 whites and 2 reds) and a sparkling, and not one stood out. However, even more disappointing than the wine was the experience. There were three people who were leading the 'experience' for 5 groups with different people randomly coming in to basically say what the info sheet mentioned. For the first time, it felt that wine tasting was a utilitarian experince rather than a hedonic one. And you pay $15 for it. My advice would be to save your money and go to a better winery.
Sep 2023. Stopped by for a late Saturday lunch with the partner prior to proceeding into the MONA museum. We ordered glasses of wine and shared the Hummus Plate, which was delicious and textural. Unfortunately, pita bread was a little oily. Casual ambience with indoor and outdoor seating available. Order and pay at the counter. Efficient and friendly service. Bit on pricy end but not outrageous. Overall, a decent lunch experience within MONA.

Nestled at a corner of MONA, this place has a very lovely, chill vibe. Add to that the fact that it’s only steps away from its very own vineyard (~2 hectares), and the view is lovely, that makes for an even more incredible experience. The icing on the cake, is that we had amazing service from Winnie, who taught us lots of little nuggets, both about the wines from Moorilla, but also from its sister winery, Domaine A. She was very affable and hospitable, and made us feel right at home. Their wine tasting is an experience that cannot be missed if you happen to be at MONA!
Best service I have ever received. My boyfriend and I did the wine tasting at Cellar Door and it was exceptional. The wine was delicious and the waitress who took care of us was informative, kind and witty. She made us feel very welcome and taught us so much about wine and MONA. I felt like I was having a conversation rather than just being fed information. She really made our day and we even bought a bottle of wine - which was so cheap as the wine tasting cost comes off the price of the wine. Big thanks to making our trip to Tassie so amazing.
Atmosphere is the only thing good about this place . The service is shocking , poured myself a glass of water and a green smudge appeared in it. After I told the female waiter she just replied “get it yourself”. I’ve been in hospitality 7 years of my life and I would never recommend this place . The food was very mild & overpriced, we ordered the fish crisp & dip and the chips were freezing cold , tasteless and stale.

Well. Where do you start? Great ferry ride over. The art museum is just that. Don't be offended by it, it's different and eye opening! Then you have the grounds, the iron work, the steel that abounds. The winery and the restaurant! Oh. Don't forget the staff. Absolutely brilliant..The musicians are next level and know their craft. They are musicians! Another experience and worth every cent. Do yourself a favour and come to Mona. You will not be disappointed!
Moorilla Estate is a winery located in the suburb of Berriedale, 12 km north of the city centre of Hobart, in Tasmania. It was established in 1958 by Italian-Australian former textile merchant Claudio Alcorso. Moorilla Estate is currently owned by David Walsh, and is the site of the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA). The winery produces a number of cool climate wines, and also produces five beers under the label Moo Brew.
Located at and part of MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art, outside Hobart. Great food, great wine, and great art. We stayed overnight and so had reserved parking (and a 5-star suite at 5-star prices). Otherwise the smart way to get there is via the Museum's own ferry service. If you like modern art, it's a must-see museum. Even if you don't, it's worth it for the ferry ride to a great spot for lunch.
This was an interesting experience, love the gallery & the wines, but the wine club left me puzzled & disappointed. The sparkling was delicious & I was super keen to join the wine club…. But couldn’t! Why? Well, you can only join during a specific windows in time.. which wasn’t today. I would have loved leaving with a case, but I’m not waiting till June to join. That moment has gone.
We went to see a band playing and had drinks and some food. The schooners of beer were $10 each mostly and as we were outside, the food was from a food van type outlet and whilst it was very good it was a little expensive at around $27 per item. If you want cheap food just buy the chips.

If all your stars line up, you may be lucky enough to be hosted by the more than lovely Maddy. It happened to us. As we were chatting and travelled around the world we got to taste one sparkling, two whites and two reds. Very unique wines with very unique notes. Definitely worth a visit. Definitely worth an add-on to a museum visit. XO
The whole MONA experience is so special, so I loved the wine tasting to finish off our long day of exploring. If you’re interested and engaging, they will look after you. And not one wine disappointed! Didn’t know what to get, so we left with a seasonal subscription! Love your work team. Look forward to growing our cellar with you!
Had a wonderful trip with Mona ferry and the biggest and nicest surprise experience with Sarah with our wine tasting, very knowledgeable and friendly the best wine tasting I had experienced and lunch at the source is highly recommended

I had the vegan mezze and the vegan cheese platter. The vegan mezze left a lot to be desired. The hummus just wasn’t that tasty. The vegan cheese was good but the three cheeses were nearly identical. This might be a good option for someone new to vegan cheese but if you’ve had others it’s not that impressive.
I took my friend to the Cellar Door for a wine tasting session. Olivia was absolutely brilliant with the wine descriptions, and her attitude and personality just matched it. Would happily do those tastings every year just to hear how she describes the latest vintage! We ended up trying the beers as well.
Just amazing. MONA was just Devine but you must finish the evening at the wine bar! The wine was exquisite and the musicians and staff are brilliant! True artists, and you can tell the staff enjoy working there. Venue is beautiful and although we didn’t eat, the food looked amazing!
The Moorilla Estate is a part of Wonderful M.O.N.A. ,the museum of old and new art, at Berridale just N.W. of Hobart. The Moorilla wine is Excellent. Riesling.....Pinot Noir.... Sauvignon....Sparkling Rose..... The labels reflect the Unique nature of the Tasting Experience..
No food available after walking around Mona. Staff more interested in cleaning up and getting out the door. It’s only 4pm and you close at 5. Not even a hot chocolate, but happily sell you wine or beer with no food

How about tasting the best wine in the heart of the MONA Museum? This place has an infinite number of wines and the good thing about all this is being able to have a glass of wine from each bottle if you want, just choose from the menu which one is your favorite.
Went for a wine tasting - had every bottle personally and professionally explained by Hugh - had to buy a bottle because he was so good! Absolutely would recommend for anyone who enjoys personable and friendly servers with a good sense of humour …
Skimp out on the drinks much? Watched y'all make my drink in front of me and the glass was only 2/3 full with liquid then topped with ice. Had to ask them to fill my drink more. Cheapskates.

Big shout out to the delightfully friendly and basically wonderful German maitre d / bar manager. She was rare blend of true hospitality, intellect and beauty. Thank you for making my solo visit to MONA a highlight of my year so far …
Dont drink wine at the Moorilla Wine bar, as they ruin the experience by only providing plastic wine glasses. I understand that for those having picnics on the grass outdoor areas but I ondered a not inexpensive lunch & bottle of wine for
Not just a wine cellar and a great museum (MONA), but also a fantastic place to enjoy a drink (a glass of wine, a beer or even a soft drinks) either at a table or laying down on a beanbag on the main lawn. This place is ideal for a couple
It is a great place, if you love art and craft, the museum is underground the mountain rock, it is a very exciting place to be, great food, great views. And ya, first time in my life I see grapes farm, it is just on the way to Mona museum.
$38 for a cheese platter with $10 of cheese on it and they forgot it until I asked. Wow. Very crowded. They seem unprepared for the conditions.

Moorilla and Mona, talk about an unfair advantage. Explore Mona then do a wine tasting or relax indoors or out, with gourmet wood-fired pizzas, oysters, soups, salads and more. All with Moorilla wines. A lovely experience.
Worst service experienced in my time in Tasmania. Food extremely average and overpriced. Don’t ruin your Mona experience by coming here.

Huge change from when we went to the ols Spanish style villa many years ago. Modern and situated in Mona. Wines still really nice and worth the visit.$10 a tasting but no charge if you buy a bottle. …
Had a fantastic day, loved the posh pit journey over and back. The gallery offered multiple levels of art perspective. Loved the draw a bicycle, and so much more. Lovely chill out at the winery for lunch.
Definitely go here if you are at MONA. They make some amazing wines and their sister brewery also does some funky seasonal beers. Just a great place to chill and unwind after walking around at MONA.
: Visited MONA during our stay in Tasmania. Got a bit hungry walking pass the warm and bustling wine area outdoors just in front. Had some food from @moorillawinery Wine Bar to try. …
My partner and I very much enjoyed the wine tasting at Cellar Door. The hosts were super knowledgable, funny and charming. We left with a bottle of the extra brut

Wine tour guide was charming, knowledgeable and funny; definitely someone you want to drink with. Wine was delicious and generous. If you come to MONA, don't skip the wine tasting.
Have a glass of Tasmanian wine paired with oysters or a toastie, sit back, relax. A little price-y but worth it. Celebrate your unique experience at MONA.
Relaxing boozy end after a day at an unusual art museum! AUD$20 for tasting 8 wines seems like great value, even for me, normally not a big wine drinker!

did a lovely tasting with connor and they told us about several other attractions in tasmania. the wine was subtle and enjoyable and worth a tasting.
The food was nice, if a little different, but quite expensive. Might be nice for a drink. There is a good view from the outdoor seating area.
Sorry to have to say it but the experimental band today was just annoying noise. I left.

Excellent Vineyard/Brewery selection, super friendly, knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend both the Moo Brew and the wine tasting.
Lots of things to see. Challenging the norm and pushing you to reflect and think of current societal standards.
Decent bistro, food is not bad, price is OK considering it’s museum bar/bistro. Staffs are warm and welcoming.
Visited the Mona Art Gallery and was blown away by the new displays. Very cool and ultra hip.
We had a great day here. Service was quick, food was prime. Good beer selection on tap.
