The Mountain Creek Branch library has three outstanding features: First, the grounds. As you enter the library from Mountain Creek Pkwy a sign welcomes you to Emerald Lake Park, (not the library) which might be a bit confusing for first time visitors. But the landscaping nicely compliments the architecture and you do get a state park-like feel when there’s a break in traffic. To the right (east) of the library a wheelchair-friendly path meanders down and indeed leads to Emerald Lake. It’s a pleasure just to sit outside for a while and enjoy the peaceful environment. The second noteworthy feature of the library is its architecture. The early 2000’s saw the merging of brick with glass and steel, often with tall majestic ceilings. This building uses stone instead of brick, giving it a less institutional, softer look. The ceiling is tall, but not ostentatiously so, but with an understated, clean soothing look common throughout the building. The library, inside and out, is welcoming. The third “Wow!” feature is the Children’s section. The current trend in libraries is to have a large Children’s section - Mountain Creek’s takes up almost half the library. Along with the requisite bright colors and cute kiddie mini-furniture, this library has lots and lots of books. An extraordinary collection. And on top of the bookshelves, prominent everywhere, are books standing up saying, Read me!” The rest of the library’s offerings are pretty much average for a library this size. Notable is the fact there are only six or eight computers available.

I’m over going to small community libraries. This is my first visit. I was the first to arrive because finals are this week so I needed to study. But I will say 10:30am they have a story time or something for the babies. And I’m all for that. The issue is it’s loud‼️the lady that reads and the babies…it’s 11:22am and yes they are still at it. I have on my Bluetooth headset to drown out the noise and if I turn up the sound any further it would not be healthy. Neighborhood libraries don’t consider the students that seek out libraries to study or either the city need to upgrade these libraries to make a space just for the babies to scream and play all they want, but without distracting others. I have other libraries I go to. However I live fairly close and wanted to tryout this location. More private study rooms should be available at libraries which I should’ve asked before I sat down if they are even available here & without reservations. The view out the window is lovely and it’s a clean environment. But now I know to ask before coming of any events or for study rooms.

I'm going to show my age, but I remember when this library was under construction and attended its grand opening. It is an excellent example of how well-thought design keeps a building from aging. Well-stocked and curated collection features books, periodicals, DVDs and online resources. The library staff is knowledgeable, kind, and eager to assist. This library and those who work in it show the positive impacts that occur with good government.

The Library is an entrance to a nice walking trail. The trail is clean, clear and it has support handrails. The walking trail leads to a beautiful lake where many come for fishing or just for the view. There is a playground, sitting areas around the lake and park and there is a sanded volleyball area too. I enjoy coming with my family when the sun is coming down .

I visited the branch to retrieve texts that I requested on the Dallas Public Library's website. I was unaware that the texts weren't considered "borrowed" until entered through their on-site system, so I didn't bring my library card. However, the young man at the desk was extremely polite and helpful, and used my DL to complete the transaction.

My visit was for a private meeting, so I didn't get beyond the conference room. However, the size was perfect for the number of attendees. Adequate tables, chairs are provided, and audio visual equipment/screen was helpful for the presentation. The library's location is nice, and it was a pretty day to drive along Mountain Creek Parkway!

I gave this library two stars only because it was indeed quiet... Quiet to the point where staff did not speak upon asking questions. I asked the young lady at the help desk a question and she just stared at me wondering why I was interrupting her day. The building is nice to say the very leasy

Library is next to Emerald Lake Park! Very beautiful area, nice for walks, photography and just having a nice day. Haven't been inside the library since Covid shut everything down before I could but from what I've seen on the outside..... I'd imagine the inside is just as nice!

A small library in the greater Dallas County network. You can easily order books from the other branches and pick them up here. There is also a lovely view of the valley from inside with a paved trail outdoors leading to a small pond.

My favorite library that I've been to. They have a wide selection of books, audiobooks, movies, and TV shows. It has a great view and a nice atmosphere for studying or reading. Really nice staff as well.

I truly enjoy the adult painting workshop. Its amazing & I get to practice on my painting skills. I enjoy stopping by this library and checking out books to read or activities held by the staff.

Found a few Creation science books, nice to see government isn't censoring as much anymore. Also found that they will loan fishing equipment for fishing in the pond just down the hill.

A library with a panoramic view. Great place to bring your kids. Kids can fish down at the lake. And guess what, this library lends you the fishing gear!!!!

  • Matthew Martin

Love this branch! Smaller selection, but great views. Excited to see how things develop after reopening post-COVID; always appreciate the great librarians!

Beautiful and peaceful the way the library is set up allows for the back wall to be a panel of windows that makes you feel like you're in the trees.

  • Michael Creason

Was only there for early voting. I don't believe the library is open to the general public right now, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

  • Yvette Williams

It was quite for a Saturday afternoon. A few people came in but wasn't there very long. The staff is very hospitable.
