"5+ stars"
"3rd time's a charm! I been in MSG a few times for a few tune ups or repairs"
"Pretty disappointing"
I went looking for an entry level mountain bike...a hard tail with 29" wheels. My research suggested a Trek Marlin 6 or a Giant Talon. United Cycle had both when I first went but they seemed uninterested in helping me. When I told them what I wanted they gestured the direction of the bikes and then walked away. Not spending enough money, I guess. I left and decided to do my own research, which confirmed those were good choices. Went back a week later and they had no stock of anything...just much more expensive bikes 4-6 weeks out. I heard BSaG were better for helping customers so I stopped there on my way home. They showed me a Jamis Durango A1 that was the same price, almost identical specs and they had one in stock...a very nice deep red colour. I asked what a step up would be and it was double the price so I went back to the Jamis...did some quick research on my phone and asked to try it out. I gave them my license, credit card, car keys, signed a waiver and off I went. Yes, that seems like a lot...I just drove a $74K Lexus last week with less red tape than that, but okay. ;) Climbed a few curbs in the parking lot and it handled them like they were barely speed bumps so I went back in and bought it. I asked for a kickstand and they offered to install it while I paid. They went over the warranty and registration with me and I was good to go! Much, much better service than United Cycle!! Thanks guys!
Purchased a very expensive bike at the south side location recently. Very exciting day for me. With new bike comes setting up suspension that’s accustomed to your body weight which I can absolutely say I’m no expert in. I ask multiple times if I could get suspension set up but was just asked what my body weight was so that they could inflate the suspension with pump to recommend setting according to website. Now for people who know proper suspension set up. It’s essential to sit on the bike and to use the o-rings to accurately measure sag. That is what they are there for. I even brought my own pedals so it can make the process easier. The excitement was dashed once I realized I was going to be leaving the store as if I just bought a bike from Canadian Tire. It definitely dampened the giddy feeling you get of “New Bike Day”! I ordered an upgrade for the bike and was told it would be no problem to get and the deliver date was solid. I even followed up and was reassured of when part would be here. I was really hoping that MSG would come through and maybe it would make up for the not so great customer service. MSG south failed again! Very disappointing. There is good customer service at MSG. Just not south location.
5+ stars. The team here is phenomenal. I had a great experience with everyone, but most especially Andreas. They were extremely kind and patient and let me take the bike for a test drive around the area including a hill - very helpful! I ended up buying a beautiful bike and basket. I noticed later I was charged a different price for the basket than marked on the sticker. I spoke to Andreas about this who explained there was a price increase but honoured the sticker price and gave me a refund for the difference, no questions asked! To further their excellent customer service, I had a change of heart about the colour when I brought it home and they kindly allowed me to exchange the bike (I hadn't used it other than the test drive) and re-installed my basket and bell. I couldn't be happier. They did not upsell me in any way to buy accessories but were very helpful with recommendations when I asked. I'll never go anywhere else!
3rd time's a charm! I been in MSG a few times for a few tune ups or repairs. The first time was alright but did not get everything I wanted when they put these pedals on my bike that I did not ask for, and now I have scars in the back of both of my legs. The second time was not good. Did not get anything I asked for except a new tube and tire when I wanted a new rim as well as a tune up too. I was discouraged. I was told third time's a charm, so said this is do or die. Jamie M has been awesome from the get go! Dude listens and really cares with attention! He went over and above to ensure I was satisfied when I picked up the bike as well! I really gotta get Jamie a beer one day! HE truly deserves it after making such an amazing impact and putting Service back for MSG! Appreesh!
Pretty disappointing. Picked up my bike (older Kona so not a newer more expensive bike) and had an annual tune up and new rubber and tubes installed ($356). Got home and tire was flat and also the brakes were catching (new line installed by them). The inconvenience of having to take the bike back (I have a smaller car so have to source someone to help me) was not great either. No apologies and when they tried to give it back the brakes still had the same issue. Glad my other half was doing the pick up as she is more tactful. For what I paid to have this bike done I cannot say my experience was good. Nice people but my experience was not good and no apologies made for my inconvenience. Glad others had a better interaction.
Went here to true a wheel. Its was in fine shape but I noticed a slight wobble so I took it in. Technician was late with the repair and then tells me he "pretzeled" my wheel and I need to now buy a 160$ wheel. I told him my wheel was fine and I wasn't anticipating this type of cost or I would've left it alone. I asked him to ask the manager if they can at least discount me the wheel as this wasn't my fault and had I known this would happen I wouldn't have brought in my wheel. He then tells me no chance for a discount. Since CoVid bike parts are sought after. I will not return to Calgary Trail location and have shared my story with friends that have now taken Calgary Trail off their locations of choice.
Fantastic service, nice storefront with parts, tools, and accessories to browse, and a beautiful shop open so you can watch the staff work away. I love the atmosphere and how stoked the staff are at any given moment, and always willing to help find that one part that you cannot track down. Also huge props to the team for being so quick to get me parts when every other bike shop has told me weeks mud has done the same parts in days. Finally Sean is fantastic and always gives helpful and realistic advice, Paul from our limited transactions has been amazing and this is the only bike shop in Edmonton I come back to again and again to see amazing service.
This is my favorite bike store in Edmonton. The staff are super nice and helpful, and aren't at all pushy or try to up-sell you. For example, I came to the shop to buy new disk brake pads and to check on low air pressure in my suspension. Jamie took the time to find the optimal pressure in my suspension, which I really appreciate. The Shimano brake pads only cost $25, which seems super reasonable. I've only been in their shop a couple times, yet the staff seemed really welcoming. So far I've only been buying bike parts from them, but if/when I'll buy a new bike then I'll be sure to buy it from them. Thank you for the great service!
These guys are honestly just fantastic. I had a warrantee issue with my bike frame and due to the current issues with the industry's supply chain I was originally told that it could be several months or longer until a new frame would be available....which I expected based on of the various challenges the industry is facing. 1 week later, I was called and told that my bike was ready for pick-up. I was shocked and very impressed by both the dealer and bike shop. I am extremely happy with how everything was managed and how prompt this process was. Top notch service! THANK YOU Sean, Kona and the team at MSG for everything!
Ever since this location has open, it has truly been the best bike shop on the southside of the city. The sales staff are always friendly and willing to help you find what you need. I have brought a couple of my bikes here for service and cannot express how much of a great job the boys at the back do. Gavin and Jackie have been amazing to deal with. Not only do they book you in right away, but they take the time to go through the bike with you and provide you with the proper information and knowledge on how things work. Thank you Mud, sweat, and gears !! Keep up the amazing work !
My wife and I went in for a bike with a good idea what we wanted and bikes in general. A salesmen was quick to assist and find us the answers to our questions. For more technical questions he asked Mark who was in the middle of servicing a similar bike who happily showed us and explained the components in question, we were not pushed out of our budget and feel they truly helped us purchase the best bike for my wife and the type of riding she does. I highly recommend this store as we also went to several others prior to here. And would like to thank Mark and his incredible knowledge.
I just took possession of my new Townie Go Lady 8D EQ ... Cherry Red. I love it! The handle bars are just the right height, the seat is very comfortable, and of course all the extras of the electric bike. It is very simple to operate. Much easier than I expected. Thanks very much to Griffin for patiently answering all my questions and showing me all the features of this wonderful bike. All the staff at Calgary Trail " Mud, Sweat, and Gears" were enthusiastic and encouraging. So great to be riding again. Tomorrow I'm going UP the Snow Valley trail.
Amazing, friendly employees, lovely store and I love that the repair area is visible, you can see them working in front of you. Brought my bike in for a spring tune-up and repair, Carter took it in right away and was phenomenal. Excellent pricing, Carter explained some routine at home maintenance for me (new to cycling this much!) Amazing customer service, friendly open vibe - I will only come to MSG from now on. Some other shops are unfriendly, have poor attitudes, they only make MSG shine brighter than they already are.
I hadn't owned a bike in almost 10 years and had zero clue what I was looking for. For me I wanted the bike to be the one to last me a long while and didn't want to make a mistake of purchasing something I wouldn't be happy with and never use it. Sean was welcoming and qualified me down to a bike that was going to suit me and what I was going to use it for. The staff really made me comfortable about my purchase and I recommend anyone to go to go there. 100%.
Stopped by this shop to check out some accessories for my bike. Griffin and Ben were very helpful and awesome to deal with. Not only did I purchase some new handlebars, grips, pedals, and a bell at an awesome price but Griffin got the service staff in the back to install them in a professional and timely manner. Would definitely recommend Mud, Sweat, and gears to any of my friends and family ! Best bike shop in town !
Just like all the other locations, it's the best bike shop in town! The staff is some of the best I've encountered, selection is vast, the store is easy to navigate, and the pricing is excellent However the other night I got asked if I needed help by 4-5 people in the span of 10 minutes. It was slow being the end of the night though it still was a bit annoying, other then that I have no complaints.
The service here is unparalleled. Case in point. I needed a small replacement part for a brake lever, and instead of simply directing me to a new brake system (for more profit), they searched their old equipment bin and managed to find a replica of my brake system. And then they gave it to me for no charge. I was blown away. I will certainly be shopping here as much as I possibly can.
A huge shout out to Aiden for fixing my handlebar shaft clasp on my little Jetson Bolt. It was something so simple that I just didn’t have the right tool for & he took care of it & waived the charge due to it taking less than 3 min to fix . Thanks Aiden! We have 2 fat tire e-bikes in the family as well & I will definitely be coming to Mud Sweat & Gears for their servicing !
MSG southside (the other MSG locations are super also) is super! Easy to talk to all the fellas and gals that work there. Always laughs are included. They all are paragons of biking and master wrenchers. MSG is the best bike shop in the city. No sales pressure also. They really want you to have a bike that you will love. Thanks to all the MSG staff from all the shops!
Jackie just took my bike and fixed my crank. Mentioned I don't need immediate replacement currently. Whereas I took my bike to another bike shop asides MSG, they tried to rip me off instantly. I should've went to MSG immediately because I took mine to that shop, they made me wait for 2 days. Count me as a loyal customer. Shoutout to Jackie at the service department!
Every time I go to this location everyone is always ready to drop what their doing and help with a smile on their face. Very knowledgeable staff and they don’t give you that car salesman vibe, just everyday people passionate about bikes. The store is clean and nicely laid out. I do wish they had more clothing though. Definitely an awesome shopping experience!!
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I bring my bikes regularly for a services and upgrades. Immaculate and precise service , usually done in very short period of time. I specifically like and appreciate small details they do on my bike when it is on service. My satisfaction is their top priority and they prove that every time. Big thanks to them for that.
I highly recommend this bike shop! The staff, especially Griffin, were friendly and knowledgeable. They guided us in finding the perfect bike for our daughter, offered great advice, and had an impressive selection. Griffin also assisted us in customizing the bike with accessories, and we left with a fantastic matching helmet. A wonderful experience!
Went to check out the bike selection for myself and was greeted by Andres who was beyond helpful and knowledgeable. I’ve had multiple hip surgeries, so he was able to find a bike that was comfortable and cute. Sean was super amazing and quick to get everything set up quickly. Highly recommend this team if you’re looking for a new bike or equipment!
By far, my favorite bike shop in the city. Always top notch service, knowledgeable staff, good prices and a nice selection of almost everything. Bought my fat bike here, my summer bike gets it's maintenance here, and will be buying my next bike from here too. Multiple locations to choose from and they are all great to visit.
So excited to have a bike shop so close to my house now, especially one that's open on Sundays and Mondays. Love that I can store my bike safely inside while shopping, the staff has all been helpful and friendly and they generally stock everything I need. Great addition to the neighborhood I'm thankful for MS&G
Very helpful, very knowledgeable shop. I've often gone in with a weird question about my bike or needed an obscure part and they've always been able to quickly help me out. They do a lot of special orders, too, so if you need a part and they don't have it they'll sort you out. I would recommend them to anyone.
Myself and my wife dealt with multiple individuals over 2 days and every person was a pleasure to deal with and very knowledgable. Service for our 2 bike was amazing with the tech guys in the back. I will hesitate to go back and anyone reading this review should not hesitate to walk through their door.
I get a great vibe from this shop. Big thanks to Gary, Alannah, Nick, and the brand new employee. I feel very well taken care of. They seem like they really look after you and your bike. They offer great advice and aren't just after your money. Ironically, this makes me spend more here to support them!
Always a pleasure to come into this mud sweat and gears location. The employees are always super nice and helpful, and they made the process of helping me find a new bike easy and tailored it to my wants. One guy even helped me load the bike into my car! Thank you again guys!!
Amazing bike store with tons of selection and friendly, very helpful staff! The folks here are happy to help you find what you're looking for, even if it's not at their store! Ask Kim for help if you're a first time rider or aren't sure what kind of bike will suit your needs.
Nice selection of bikes and hardware and super helpful staff. Have probably spent over $10k here in the last 12 months, got a new bike, new suspension, bars, pedals etc. Sean & Nile in service have been great to deal with, along with their sales staff. Thanks guys!
I usually buy from the west MSG but these guys are just as good and got us the correct bike after a day of shopping for bicycles. We had to pay a little extra to get the most comfortable bike but ultimately it was worth the extra 400. Good job as usual MSG.
Ive been coming here for years. I wont step foot in any other bike repair shop. They have always taken care of me and the boys in repair are fast fair and know there stuff!! This is the only place in edmonton i recommend for any of your biking needs!
Probably the best bike shop in Edmonton. Great customer service and were very friendly specially Paul and Griffin. You guys goes above and beyond on my bike purchase. If I can only give 10 star I'll do it for sure. Thank you and very much appreciated
I honestly question the sanity of any person who takes their high end expensive bike here. First, you're dealing with guys who know absolutely nothing about bikes and standards and how things work together. Quote i usually think of when
If you want customer service go somewhere else! The reason? Well, I bought a brand new chain (Shimano CN-HG 6/7/8 Chain) on July 4 and installed it according to the manufacturers instructions. I rode about 34km when the chain came off
The best ever experience in a bike shop. I buy parts all over Edmonton. I almost visited Evry bike shop in Edmonton and bought stuff and today I have the best experience at Mud, Sweat and Gears South.
Went to there shop looking to get back into mountain biking they helped me pick out a great starter bike. Would like to thank there mechanic Shawn he has been great with explaining everything.
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. I was lately three times with small service request and always I was serviced right away for a small amount of money!! Thank you guys :)
Decent selection of bikes , knowledgeable staff and great service department and friendly welcoming atmosphere. Local shop worth supporting and visiting.
The peeps here were super helpful with buying some worn down parts and let me return what wouldn’t fit. Really nice to deal with and thanks for the help.
Just got my flat tire fixed in 45 minutes. Very reasonable price. We have been there 3 time now bought new helmets, the staff have all been very helpful.
Really friendly staff! The sales and shop team were knowledgeable and accommodating. Would definitely recommend coming here to get your bike serviced
Impressive selection considering the size of the store and staff really know their stuff. I got great advice while buying my ebike and no upselling.
Fantastic service! All the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Mark worked on the bike and was super helpful! Would highly recommend.
Really amazing staff! Both the sales and shop team were very knowledgeable and accommodating! Great experience :)
